Is it still possible to root my Samsung Galaxy J7? - General Questions and Answers

Hello! I'm trying to root my phone and I am at a loss. I am pretty new to this. So, not surprisingly I soft-bricked my phone but luckily I was able to restore everything with Smart Switch but I read about how updates can prevent rooting. I've tried a variety of guides but I keep wondering if it is even possible to do at all as I keep seeing comments about how some phones are not able to root at all.
Phone Information:
• Name device: Galaxy J7 (2016)
• Model number: SM-J710FN
• Android version: 6.0.1
• Build number: MMB29K.J710FXXU3AQF8
What I have tried so far:
• This XDA guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/how-to/root-galaxy-j7-sm-j710fn-root-t3448389 (UNAVAILABLE)
• KingoRoot
• KingRoot
• OneClickRoot
• Dr. fone
• TWRP recovery (which gives /Data error no matter what file system I change to in Advanced Wipe. It does work but the phone keeps bootlooping after)
Unfortunately the video with the guide on XDA doesn't work. Does that mean it is outdated? Should I maybe flash the firmware back to the original (before update)? Or is it entirely impossible? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Australian model - Rooting

Hi
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S through Optus here in Australia. Like many others, the phone is running frustratingly slow. After reading many articles on this, I have decided to root the phone, then run the one click lag fix. Rooting will also allow me to use Titanium Backup which I am keen to do.
I am very new to all this phone stuff and so far, every rooting method I have tried has failed to work (2 methods involving downloading an update.zip, one automatic method through a PC). I think this may be because my Australian phone is slightly different to the galaxy's that the root guides were created for.
My phone specs are:
Build number: Froyo.DTJP5
Baseband version: I9000DTJP3
Firmware version: 2.2
I'd greatly appreciate anyone who can point me in the right direction for applying root to this phone. Or if anyone thinks there is a better option for speeding the phone up, please let me know.
you can either apply a one click lag fix (available in the market) or follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754

[Completed] Galaxy S4 - Can't get the 5.0 update

I rooted my phone a few months ago and everything was fine. But recently I was prompted to install to 5.0 Lollipop update. I tried and it failed. After some googling I thought it was the fact that I'm rooted. So I unrooted it and now no matter what I do with ODIN it fails.
I've tried:
Changing my kernel. I tried two different kernels, both failed.
Installing Lollipop through 3 different methods. They all failed. (OTA update, through ODIN, recovery mode with the update on my SD card)
Basically ODIN always fails, and any other one-click root method fails as well. (Towelroot, Kingo App, MobileGo Wondershare)
Backstory: The only thing I can think of causing this much trouble is the fact that when I rooted my phone I had to use an old kernel. Everything was failing so I had to roll back my kernel in order to root. I did that. And then my WiFi stopped working. So I changed my kernel back to the original one. I don't know if this would do anything but figured it was worth mentioning.
The goal is to get the 5.0 update installed on my phone. I will settle for just re rooting my phone though.

[Completed] [Q] Samsung Galaxuy Note 3 Sm-n900t Clone

I'm trying to get this phone to work.
SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3
Model: SM-N900
Baseband Version: N900UBUBMJ2
Android Version 4.3
kERNEL VERSION: 3.4.5 [email protected] #1 Fri May 16 17:06:46 CST 2014
BUILD NUMBER: JSS15J.N900UBUBMJ2
SELinux Status: enforcing
In the Phone Status in settings
It's showing me:
IMEI : UNKNOWN
IMEI SV
I somehow entered the Chinese recovery and deleted the ROM by mistake, I wasn't sure what I was doing.
Then I found out after how to get into the English recovery.
I tried an IMEI changer, but it's saying fake kernel.
I tried flashing using SP Flash Tool, but I need a scatter file, which I don't know where to find.
After the delete, I realized the phone doesn't show the Base Model upon boot.
When I place my SIM card in the phone, I'm seeing IMEI invalid.
I did some research and I discovered that I need to flash a ROM back to my phone in order to rectify the IMEI issue.
I rooted the phone using Kingo Root. I installed and used various Apps simultaneously like Safestrap, GooManager, Flashify, TWRP manager unto the phone, I go the recovery installed using all of those. But When I tried to boot to the recovery, The phone shows ANDROID, like a stock phone.
I did some more research, and found that I need a T999 recovery and I also researched and saw that the Boot Loader is locked for the NOTE 3. I'm wondering if the boot loader is locked for this Chinese clone to.
All I would like is to be able to boot to the recovery, I'm unable to access the phone through ODIN, I have all the latest drivers, I purchased new USB cables.
I would be grateful for anyone's assistance. Thanks in Advance.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist Your EFS Partition is corrupted hence the only way you could fix it is by EFS Backup of your own device not from other device . since its clone only way is to go to Service Center and get it fixed
Good Luck!

Used S6 and have no idea how to root

I've researched multiple rooting tutorials and have found a lot of guides based on the auto-root file from www(.)autoroot.chainfire(.)eu
However, I still do not know what to do with this. From my research I found out that there is a possibility that the bootloader is locked and that is the reason I am scared, if I brick this phone I will not have a phone for another 2 years. If I flash a new clear android 7.0.0 stock for the S6 without the O2 addon bloatware with the bootloader locked it will brick my phone since this is some sort of security feature.
What I want from my S6:
- VERY good security, I will be banking on it alot, using android pay, etc so I need it to basically be hack-proof etc. Im not going to install apps like lucky patcher which are not from the play store.
- A new clean stock version of Android 7.0.0 without so many O2 apps that I cannot uninstall.
- Root access to remove certain system services and increase my battery life
I am a previous root user, 1 year ago being on my rooted S3 which I rooted using KingoRoot with one click. Now I come back year later to a new phone 3 generations down with things like the locked bootloader and KNOX. Could anyone explain what I can do at this point?
Phone specification essentials:
Name: Samsung Galaxy S6 O2/EU
Model Number: SM-G920F
Build Number: G920FXXU5EQE5
Android Version: 7.0
Knox Version: 2.7.1
The device still has a simlock, and I was told that the sim lock is installed in the ROM. So if I were to flash Im assuming the simlock would be removed however I still have a pending order for the unlock code coming in 7 days.
Try with a TWRP and a Magisk' - SuperSU it's a will be less-stable for now' (Seriously who are be use at This for now?)
Addition advantage it's a doesn't Permissives of a Magisk (Still "Enforced")

Rooting South African Androids

I am a digital/mobile forensics student - and need to root a few devices ...
Samsung J2 SM-G532F - G532FXXU1ARF3 (Baseband Version) G532FXWU1ARH2 (Build) - 6.0.1
G532FXWU1AQG4 (original build)
Samsung J2 SM-J250F - J250FXXU2ARL2 (Baseband Version) J250FXXU2ARL1 (Build) -7.1.1.
Vodafone VFD 1100 - MOLY.WR8.W1449.MD.WG.MP.V41.P4.T3 (Baseband) 18001 (Build) 6.0.0.
so far I have managed to softbrick both samsungs and have flashed both of them - thus wiping all relevant data and evidence ( a resume generating event) and still havent managed to root either phone -
I have attempted to use Magisk, Wondershare, CF-Auto Root, oneclickroot, KingoRoot and Twrp - all of the above have said that they do not have custom root kits for my baseband version - I really do not know what to do now - if anybody is able to assist me I would very much appreciate it.
I now desperately have to root all devices to attempt to recover deleted data.
I am not prepared to try anything unsafe with the vodafone as yet because of what happened with the samsungs.
