Bought a new in box d6603 z3 to replace my dying galaxy s5. Didn't even bother with stock rom, I immediately unlocked the bl, installed twrp and flashed the latest lineage. Once I stuck my SIM in I realized I'm not getting LTE at all, it only gets 2g Edge. The APN settings were fine, so I erased dalvik, system, cache, etc and reinstalled... same thing, no LTE. I fully erased it again and installed resurrection remix, same thing I'm only getting 2g Edge.
Has anyone gone through this? I know the d6603 contains the LTE bands needed for US t-mobile. What on earth is wrong?
Edit: forgot to mention, I also ran down to t-mobile to make sure they didn't need to do something like add the device to my account, they gave me a new SIM card but there was no change. I have a t-mobile personal cellspot plugged into gigabit internet, so I should have full coverage in throughout my home.

I've been running CM Nightly builds for some time now and about a week ago I noticed that I hadn't seen the LTE icon for a while. Just 3g.
I have Baseband verision I535VRBMF1
I made sure that my settings were correct, system select automatic, subscription is ruim/sim, preferred network type global (also tried LET/CDMA/EvDo)
I tried manually changing the access point name to LTE - Verizon Internet and it just pauses for a while and changes back to the EHRPD - Verizon Internet one.
Thus far I have followed these directions and reflashed with this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591895
I wiped data, dalvik and cash in between flashes.
Still in 3g land.
Please let me know any thoughts or ideas, or if I left out any info that you need or I overlooked for troubleshooting.
Thanks very much
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2695990
So I figured my issue could possibly be sim card related.
Just dropped into a Verizon store and asked for a new sim card. The guy asked for me phone and I handed it over. He asked if it was jailbroken and I said well kind of yes. He kind of shrugged and pulled out a new sim card and after activation it now works.
Thanks forum.
I have a shiny new copper Z3 in my hands and today I cut the T-mobile SIM from my Nexus 5 to be able to put in my Z3, however I am not getting LTE at all on it in places that I know it should. Went to the store and they checked the APN and they see no issue. I've downgraded to .93 be able to root, would flashing that FTF interfere with being able to get LTE?
Fixed my own problem. The issue was that I did not have the SIM inserted when I set up the phone last time, it prompted me for what network I was on and automatically downloaded the settings when I reflashed the FTF file.
Hi guys,
First off, yes, I am definitely in a LTE coverage area.
I was in Europe recently and use a few different carriers over there. Prior to my trip I was on LTE pretty much 24/7 rarely venturing beyond into 3G territory. When I got back and inserted my VZW SIM the phone wasn't connecting to the data network. I tried looking up how to activate and my friend told me to dial *228. I now see that doing that from an LTE phone is a bad idea. It activated my phone and I now have 3G data, but I cannot get LTE anywhere.
Is there a way to fix this or did I kill my SIM by dialing *228 and need to get a new one? How can I reactivate my SIM for LTE?
Edit: I spoke with Verizon techs who tried resetting my connecting from their end. I noticed that the PRN went from beginning with 53### to 15### which cursory checks tells me that it should be good for LTE. Still nothing by 3G.
I then went to a Verizon store, and they gave me a new SIM. The phone gave no appearance of activating and the data network would not connect at all. Texts / Voice calls worked though.
My next step was to restore the phone from a nandroid backup done prior to my trip when everything was working fine (including LTE). It restored, and I had data, but again, only 3G.
So next I performed a factory restore. The phone booted back to the initial 'welcome' screen. The first screen said 'activating your phone' and after a minute... 3G.
At this point I don't know what else to do. Should I try to return the phone to a fully stock state?
I'm running Digitalhigh GPE, and I know I'm a few versions behind, but I'm on the latest baseband.
Bump. Can anyone help? It's killing me being stuck on 3G. I've tried upgrading to GPE 5.1 and back to 5.0.1 with no changes.
Do you think I should try to return to stock? How do I even do that from where I am? I would need the stock ROM, kernel, radios, and recovery right?

I would start by re flashing the full set of radios in Tigerstown thread...
In your Network Settings > Mobile Data > Preferred network, there's several different modes there ( LTE, global, 3g) I'm not 100% sure if you even have access to these settings in GPE?
Edit: Simplest way to return to a stock rom to test...
I'd say nandroid backup (just in case)
Wipe data and cache in recovery. I also do a "Factory Reset" just for the heck of it. Do NOT wipe internal memory or ext SD. Otherwise you will loose anything else on your phone such as pics, downloads, etc.
Then just download a stock rom, or really any Sense 6/7 Rom and flash it. There shouldn't be any more to it.
Before you do anything though, I would definitely reflash the full firmware set to knock that out of the way.
I seem unable to get LTE on my D850 since I installed CM12.1 and was wondering if this is common for this ROM. I installed the nightly, so I assume its obviously going to be a bit buggy, but to not have LTE working seems strange.
I checked my APN and I tried both ATT LTE and ATT Phone. The ATT LTE gives me a status bar with an exclamation point and never establishes a data connection and ATT Phone gives me HSPA connectivity. At one time, I waited a few hours and it eventually established LTE but that was an uncommon occurrence and its never been repeated since.
With other ROMs I have not seen this issue replicated. I tested on Cyanide L, Euphoria, and the Stock LG ROM and everything worked fine. Any suggestions?
Hey there,
I'm running CyanideL myself, love this ROM.
Which nightly version are you using?
Have you checked that Mobile Networks --> Preferred network type.... is set to LTE?
Have you tried toggling to 3G, getting a connection, then moving back to LTE?
I also have this problem. Has a solution been found?
I just ditched the stock ROM and installed CM12.1 a few days ago. Now LTE has disappeared. I had it, now can't get it. I'm not able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, nor can I select any option that includes LTE in the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). It's probably some stupid user error, but whatever it is has been eluding me for a day of messing with it.
Presently running cm-12.1-20150804-NIGHTLY-d850.

Interesting...
Have you tried restoring your stock ROM and seeing if it will connect? How about a SIM card pull?

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried returning to the stock ROM. I just got all my apps reinstalled and data restored, widgets installed, screens set up, etc., so I'm not too keen on doing all that again so soon.
I have tried a chicken SIM card pull. I was somewhat fearful of doing a pull "hot" as is usually suggested. I powered down, removed the SIM card, and restarted. After restart, I was able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, and the test menu confirmed that LTE/GSM auto was the preferred network type.
I then powered down, re-installed the SIM, and restarted. After restart the preferred network type had been reset to 3G and I was (am) unable to select LTE.
My conclusion is that this is something to do with the Net10 SIM I'm using. I've ordered a new SIM from Net10. The Net10 rep says a new SIM may fix things. One is on it's way and should be here in a few days. I'll post the result.
[SOLVED]
My new "LTE capable" Net10 SIM arrived today. I had Net10 customer service transfer my service to the new SIM. Now I have LTE; I'm able to select LTE in the Settings→Mobile_Networks→Preferred_Network_Type menu, LTE appears in the CM12.1 status bar, and I'm able to make a solid LTE connection.
I will here piece together everything I've learned from my own experience, Net10 customer support, and internet searching. My conclusion is that there are TWO compounding problems for Tracfone/Net10/StraightTalk users. One is techhnical and the other is marketing.
The technical issue is that all Net10 (also Tracfone and Straight Talk) AT&T SIMs sold up to a couple of months ago don't work with LTE on the AT&T network. That's most of the AT&T SIMs from these companies out there in the world today. This is not widely known – in fact, most of the Net10/TF/ST customer service reps are not aware of it. It's not something that Tracfone and its subsidiaries want known because it would cost them a bundle replacing SIM cards for unhappy customers. If you have a Net10/TF/ST SIM that's more than a few months old, you have to call Net10/TF/ST and buy another new one that's compatible with AT&T LTE if you want LTE service.
So, why don't more Net10/TF/ST AT&T users raise a fuss and demand LTE capable SIMs? That brings us to the marketing issue.
AT&T lies. So do Tracfone and its subsidiaries. AT&T markets its HSPA+ 3G service as 4G when it's not. In fact, the AT&T stock ROMs that most people are using lie. The stock ROMs display 4G or sometimes 4GLTE (depending on ROM version) in the status bar when in fact it's a HSPA+ connection; not 4G let alone LTE. So users cruise along using their old SIM cards happily thinking they have 4G or LTE connections when in fact they do not; and they're none the wiser. It's only more sophisticated users who flash a 3rd party ROM, one that doesn't lie, who figure it out.

I don't know what else to do without returning the phone under warranty or doing a hard reset first to see if that fixes the problem. I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T in July 2020 and the phone can only connect to a 2G network (Edge's E is at the top instead of 4G in one). I have not changed anything and am afraid that it is broken in my mobile if possible. I am using the Google products and not the installed Mi products, I have Android 10 with Miui 12.0.3 (the last one).
What I've already tried: I've been in contact with T-Mobile because my son has the exact same phone and subscription. It does have 4G just like I did before. All settings are the same, in terms of T-mobile server, preference for LTE networks is set, etc. In the Settings everything is the same. According to T-mobile, there are no problems with the network. I have done another system update (to Miui 12.0.3). Mobile data turned on and off. Airplane mode and reboot and back on. APN reset and then phone started did not help either. When selecting network automatically, I turned off and manually search, but then the mobile only finds 2G networks.
Then a clear moment and see if it is the SIM card, so my SIM card in my husband's iPhone and yes it just indicated connected to 4G. Then my husband's SIM card in my Xiaomi and then it only indicated E again. With my son Xiaomi have done the same but again 4G on his and with his SIM card Edge in my phone again. So I'm sure it's the problem with my phone. Who else knows what I can do? I will try after a hard reset the same Edge network will still remains or if 4G works again. All responses welcome!
I think that there is something wrong with the GSM module because I tried *#*#4636#*#* and then tried several settings but it still give Edge even if I force the network to LTE only. If I give in LTE only it says: IWLAN no roaming, only emergency calls.
