Digtal high clipping noise with A2DP Bluetooth - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hey guys..
after some weeks of use of my new car stereo i just found out that the music streamed with the A2DP app is clipping in high frequencies.
I have an Erisin 5060 with PX5 Chip. It is the same with stock rom and Malaysk rom. I just use Viper4Android to make the sound a little better...
Anyone have the same issue and could explain me if it is Android related or is our hardware chip only crappy?
I just searched for any solution but i didnt found anything.
Thanks in advance

i believe this problem persists across all platforms (px3&px5).
i've been searching solution for months. couldn't find one. the problem related with bluetooth bitpool.

but maybe some ideas about how to fix it? Maybe @Hal9k_ can try do something ?

It has to be the software because other music is clear only with Bluetooth its crap

Any update on a fix for this? it seems like it is a very common issue? I bought this headunit for the purpose of Bluetooth streaming but the quality is horrible.

No dev's for try do something. I think only @f1x can take a look for solution.

I have this issue with my PXE XRC unit. Anyone ever fixed this?

I'm not sure if its the same problem.
I have a PX5 Android 6 unit and it works fine with my Pixel2XL.
However on my friend's iPhoneX, there is high frequency distortion. Perhaps if ya guys can state what phones you using, we can identify a trend...

I have a Iphone 7 plus. But I also connected an android tablet and used that to stream audio, same results.
---------- Post added at 09:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:13 PM ----------
I just took the unit out of my car and booted it on the bench. Hooked up the RCA connections and ran bluetooth a2dp streaming over the RCA connectors (assuming that bypasses the internal amplifier). It still sounds like crap. So the internal amplifier isnt the issue.

Oh yes, that's for sure. It's not the internal amp nor DAC issue. My setup is also via RCA. This is a BT issue.
I was hoping updating the MCU and OS would help (looking at all the BT fixes in the release notes).. but this is sadly not the case.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

nope. I tried MCU and I also tried OS updates. None of that helps. Is your unit using the md-725 module?
I also just took my unit apart to do the 7thfloor mod, but my XRC based unit doesnt have the WM8731S.. That is strange, I thought all Hui Feng type units had it.
More data points. My unit has the MD725 bluetooth. There's issues with the md-725 not working with google now, or other android apps with the mic. Mine does NOT have that problem. My MIC works with android apps.
I regret buying this unit.

Mine is this:

Honestly, not aware of what BT chip it's using. This BT issue isnt my main problem with the set as it works fine with my phone.
There are other DAC related issues which I'm trying to sort out..

oh i thought your issues are with BT. This thread's title says BT... Mine sounds perfectly everywhere else besides BT music

Bluetooth Audio issues

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am having the oddest issue with my phone. The u11 is 99% amazing, to me. I really like everything about it......
-except-
When paired to my 2013 Dodge Dart (don't ask. big mistake) the music audio plays slow. I don't mean the speed of reaction as far as switching tracks or how long it takes to play the next song... I mean it sounds like the audio is pitched down by about 20%.
Things I know/Have Tried from a troubleshooting perspective..
The phone bluetooth audio works fine.
The audio, when connected to the aux jack, works fine.
The audio, when connected to OTHER bluetooth devices such as my HK Aura plays fine.
My phone and car are updated to the latest firmware.
I realize that the conclusion is going to be "it's your car dude".... but since it's not so easy to get rid of the car... and I don't really want to swap this phone out for a Galaxy......
Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone had this and sourced a solution?
Thanks.
I've used my U11 in my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan (don't ask. big family) and it performed flawlessly.
I imagine they are on similar systems, mine is just the standard UConnect head unit. This happens will all media streaming?

Yes standard head unit. strictly an LED display with knobs.
Yes. It's across the board.
Google Play
Pandora
Tidal
Netflix (it's trippy to watch the video move at regular speed while the vocals are not only behind, but pitched down!)
I've also tried varying bit rates on my personal MP3s.
I have a hunch that this has to do with the audio in the phone being 24bit and the radio converting to 16 bit, but I have nothing to base that on...
Basic suggestion - unpair and re-pair to see if that resets something.
I've connected my u11 to two different cars so far (an Infiniti and a Land Rover), and haven't had that issue.
I've also connected to a plethora of BT speakers, with no issue....
It is probably your car. To be honest, I think it's a UConnect issue that doesn't play nice with HTC phones. My HTC 10 had basically same issue I'm having now where music sounds like garbage, distorted. The U11 is even worse! I believe my head unit is the RHB model in a 2011 Ram. But 2 phones now with same issues, can't be coincidence.

The classic, of course.
I did pair and unpair a few times even going so far as to to completely reset the car radio from any pairings.
no luck, but thank you for the suggestion.

yeah, based on everything else I've done. It is most likely the car. Unfortunately I use that feature way too much to over look it...
Thanks for the input.
I have yet to test my wife's Samsung s8 to see if the issue carries. Not a good test though since the s8 has Bluetooth 5.0 but it's all I've got ha!

I have a similar issue, my U11 stutters and warbles and is generally unlistenable when using my tunelink (for android). However, when playing music through my Bluetooth headphones it plays perfectly, when playing through my Bluetooth speaker it plays perfectly and finally when playing through my Bluetooth headset it plays perfectly. Tried on my sisters car stereo and it plays perfectly. Its just the tunelink that has a problem. Tried a S8 and it plays perfectly through the tunelink, as does my 10 and my M8.
Edit:
Have bought another adapter to test and this also connects and plays perfectly with my U11. I guess it's just a compatibility thing with the tunelink.
Hey I have the same problem in my U11 and 2012 Dodge Challenger (ask, I love this Car!!)
The only solution I have found is if a restart the app on the phone then the playback is good. but I do wish i could just connect it and it would the playback would run fine like my old HTC M9.
Just to add to the thread. My u11 is slow to connect to my 2014 pilot and 2012 infiniti. Why it does connect it always disconnects. I'm on us unlocked 1.16 firmware.
I've read there is issues with Android 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 is better but searching the internet it does not seem the issue is too wide spread.
Edit. Testing with Wi-Fi on, not connected. So far so good
I have similar issues. I have a Subaru Outback (2015) and while my previous phone (Nexus 5) and my kids' iPhones all sound fine, the U11 sounds terrible when connected via BT. It is very grainy, like a sample rate mismatch. Same result in all audio apps. The U11 sounds find when connected to my Bose BT headphones. It's just some weird incompatibility with the car. Extremely frustrating. Its 2017 people!!

Bluetooth speaker issue

Since beginning when I owned the S8+ I discovered Bluetooth dosent play music on my little wireless speaker. I can connect headphones wireless but not speakers. It's first difficult to connect because the speaker doesn't show up in the list of connectable devices. And if it Shows up and I'm able to connect it dosent transfer any sound. Cool Bluetooth 5.0 dosent work very well
Just to see I tried pairing my bluetooth speaker with the S8+ and it wouldn't show up in the list, all that showed up was the car, watch and gear vr. A little more time today I'm going to look into this a little further.

I have Bluetooth speakers, car radio
earbuds, Gear watch phones. etc.
No issues at all.

Bluetooth 5.0 works fine for me.
Well the issue is not mainly because connection problems, it's more there is no music comming out of them. Btw the speaker is a xe mini capsule.

The point I'm trying to make is
that Bluetooth v 5.0 should /does /can
will / work , just fine.
I would say that either you have
disabled something or device
has faulty firmware
or may be a feature that's
disabled..?
Also so many other options "can "affect performance. /connections /music quality.
You could have compatibility
issues eg Bluetooth v4. 0, Bluetooth 4.1,
Bluetooth v 5.0 etc
Yeah i did understand what you mean from the start. And thank you for testing it
The point is there are some others who have the same issue like the poster before you. And I remember seeing in a other forum the same issue this was the reason I tried to connect the speaker. My headphones connected just fine and even sending and receiving files and alike is ok. It's just the mini speaker. No deal breaker btw it's a minor issue.

Yes, just trying to get you on right track.
What Bluetooth version, does the mini speaker have.
Bluetooth v 3...? or Bluetooth
4.0 or 4.1 or 4.2
Most probably you have to Google

You will most likely find the "issue" is on mini speakers side, than phone.?
Anyway good luck.
Yeah will find out sooner or later what's up thanx mate

Hizpo MTCE_XRC Bluetooth A2DP Music Streaming Distorted in upper Frequencies

I picked up a MTCE_XRC unit, Mcu version is 2.72. Everything works great on the unit except ad2p. It sounds super distorted.
I went into the factory settings and saw the Bluetooth volume level was at 14, I lowered it to 10, and it sounds marginally better but I can still hear some distortion. Anything else I can do to help? Is it just crappy hardware?

Lower the volume of the phone Bluetooth to avoid saturation and enhance the volume of the unit.

check the equaliser settings and try another phone or app to play the music from

Everything else works great, its just the a2dp sounds horrible

Tried both, nothing helped. I think it is a hardware issue. Might return hardware
Im way past being able to return this unit. I've gone as far as unsoldering the md-725 built into the unit and betting a comfast wu-725 for USB. Didnt make a huge difference..
I also put the hal9k firmware on the unit. still sounding distorted. It's only in the upper frequencies, things like cymbals and such sound very distorted.
I also found a way newer XRC firmwares. V.2.80 and V.2.84. It still sounds distorted. But maybe it's a little better. Not sure.
It sounds almost like this is an hardware issue. I'd like to get another USB bluetooth dongle, maybe a SD-968. But I dont know what chipset that is or where to find one..
help!!!

Has been this way since MTCB.
my MTCC is pretty clear sounding. (In other car)
other people experiencing this problem, have you opened your unit?
My unit had a newer PX3 SOM that has a mini-hdmi port on it. Specificaly it also had a RockChip RK616 audio chip as well. Looking for commonalities with this issue.
I have same issue on my PX5 MTCE, BT music from my phone is distorted, I can hear taht should be related to sound compression or low bitrate.
till now I did not find a solution. Do someone succed with bluetooth USB dongle?
Nope, dont waste your time, its the same crap.
BT Sound Issues
I got a MTCE_XRC2 with the same issues.
Sound is distorted via a2dp and has high clipping.
The seller gave me un update, the sound is still crappy. I can listen music directly on the unit, so, this is not a biggy. The problem is when calling someone. They can hear me, but I cannot hear them well. The sound gets interrupted and distorted and it is really annoying.
Is my unit defective, should I return it? Or it s just bluetooth module they have in this unit?
Thanks!

I have the same unit from Hizpo. I'm searching for the OEM files. What seller did you use, and can you provide a link to the 'update' he provided? I'm ready to try Hal9k's rom, but without having a factory image to restore to, I don't want to jeopardize the warranty.
Sorry for the late reply, it’s not image of the actual android. It did not make any difference for me, so I don’t think you will need it either...

Android Auto Freezes: Happens with Pixel 3 but not Pixel 2?

I have a fairly new Android Auto headunit (Kenwood DDX9903s) running the latest firmware available that was released in August. I've been running this headunit with my Pixel 2 for almost a year and it works perfectly. Now I've moved over to a Pixel 3 and it refuses to work. My connection sequence is proper because it connects successfully every single time, launches AA, and makes it to the home screen. Sometimes it will even play 30 seconds of music too but then it will freeze and all playback or navigation stops entirely. It should be noted that I'm not having this issue on the stock headunit in my VW Golf R with Android Auto.
I want to be very clear, the headunit is still fine. If I hit the menu button it will take me to the root menu of the headunit where I can select other playback sources including radio. It is Android Auto that freezes and completely locks up. Only way to get out of that is to unplug it.
I've tried clearing cache/storage on the Android Auto app and also forgetting the device in the Bluetooth settings but nothing seems to help.
AA has been a mess for a few months. When I still had my Pixel 2 XL would crash or freeze every few minutes while driving and using Maps + Navigation. It got a little better after a few app updates more recently, but still crashed out on my occasionally. The P3XL is doing same/similar, but seems more related to the memory management issues.
I only have one head unit to test on (stock Chevy MyLink) so I can't see if it happens on other units or not..

That's what I find interesting. My stock unit in my VW Golf R seems to be fine with it. However, the aftermarket Kenwood is a bit pickier I suppose. And again, the Pixel2 operated flawlessly. Even on Android Pie. The only difference is the phone.
On my 2016 VW GTI Android auto seems to be a bit buggy with this device. It worked fairly well with my Samsung Galaxy S8. Usually the audio from the radio will duck (become quiet) when Google maps is giving directions to turn or something but now the audio for my radio seems to be ducked even when there are no voice prompts. Annoying.

Good call. I actually have that same problem on the Golf too. It's like the audio ducks and then sticks that way. Only way I've found to fix that is to unplug and then plug it back in.

I've had various audio ducking issues in the past, but it's pretty rare. Mine is usually more like I trigger Assistant and audio doesn't duck, so they're both really loud.
I've just go a Pixel 3 and tried to connect to my Audi (A4 B9) but had the same issue. It connects for a bit then just stops working. It loses its connection to the car. My Pixel 2 works without problems.
Charles
Just a quick chime in, not one issue yet, AA on a 2017 Chevy Volt with my pixel 3 standard. Had lots of issues with my previous s7 edge.
I'm having a issue too. I'm thinking it's got to do with the amp output on the head unit. I have a pioneer and it's got a 5v 1.5amp output.
Here is what is happening to it
You might have a point. My phone didn't charge when plugged in to my Audi.
That's worrying. I hope it's not a Pixel 3 hardware issue.

I hope not too but I think I'm on to something. I noticed the power output on the Phone charger plug says 5v 3a
and 9v 2a so it's above my current head unit which is 1.5amp
My wife has a Renault and my phone works fine in her car so I'm thinking she has dual power output and all the people not having issues have either dual power output or there is at 2amp and above.

I am going to do some more searching into this error. Im concerned it is a hardware error but it's still to early too say as I want to look into other devices like the pixel 2 and Samsung s8/9 which I have friends with those devices. They all support fast charging and want to see what there charging specs are. I have read previous comments people didn't have the issue with there pixel 2 so when I get a chance I will test if one works with my car and I will check with a multimeter what my USB port is actually outputting.
If anyone has charging specs for those devices could you please post them.
Thanks

I have Kenwood DNX995S and my Pixel 3 connects fine and functions as it should. And actually that was one of the reasons I switched to Pixel 3 from S9+. Wireless Android Auto is awesome.
Updated to November security patch, it take a bit longer before AA close but it still close.
I've got the impression it is when I have maps and music running, just like if it can handle many apps at the same time

Question Which UIS7862 unit should I buy?

Im looking to get a new head unit for my car (Corsa D 1.2 2009), and was planning on getting the Teyes CC3. I then found out through this forum and elsewhere that its essentially just being resold? I then found other units like the Mekede M6 Pro, etc. Im not sure which one to get, does anyone have any suggestions? Or information that can help me decide between all of the UIS7862 out there?
Im leaning towards the Teyes even if it is slightly more expensive, as ive heard good things about their support and firmware updates.
But ive seen units for £180 (6+128gb) with better spec than the teyes at £250 (3+32gb)!
I mainly want good audio (so a good DSP and AMP chip), and i want polished looking software and not having to deal with the android stock menus as much.
For someone in the UK, what are peoples suggestions?
Thanks
Gershy13
Mekede M6 Pro (Youtube, another UK guy like you). Personally I would never buy a T'eyes. Too much closed source and paid software.

Thanks,
Would you be able to tell me what the main differences between going with teyes and their closed apps (some examples of why theyre worse) compared to something that isnt locked down? Like mekede or anything else.

It seems to have a slightly higher clocked processor too. And for the same price as the mekede i can get maxed storage and ram. Thoughts?
Are you planning to listen to FM radio? If you are I advise you to stay away from any FYT based head unit. If not go ahead.

Curious as to why? But no never planning on using the radio. (Spotify only)
AF function (changing frequency of radio station when signal gets too weak to a stronger signal) doesn't work on FYT head-units. If you're in a country that doesn't use DAB this should be a deal breaker.
Wish I knew that before ordering mine, but I didn't even know it was an FYT head unit. xD
Also be aware that the Bluetooth pairing functionality is quite unintuitive to work if you plan to share data via bluetooth from your smartphone. It does not connect automatically so you need to connect manually every time.

Also, the BLuetooth on these units, comparatively, is very good, with proper BLE support via dual Bluetooth to support things like radar detectors (Valentine One.)

Yes, I am sure. Go over the thread and Kotix explains it why he can't fix AF.
He made a work around for an user to easily switch between saved frequencies of the same radio station. But this is manual switching that an user needs to do by himself, not automated. This is not optimal when you're driving.

My Bluetooth connects immediately every time I enter the car.
I also find FM radio to be excellent using NavRadio+
AF isn't a deal breaker for me. I only have 1 station that jumps between frequencies occasionally (BBC Radio 2) and Kotix workaround is intuitive and easy to use.
The fact that it doesn't affect doesn't mean the issue isn't there.
Bluetooth works well. Bluetooth 2 doesn't. There's the simple work around of automating an wifi hot spot when your phone connects to Bluetooth.
It's true the NavRadio+ is a big improvement but the AF doesn't work at all.
My bluetooth always connects to phone 1 but if you have phone 2 it will not link to it, you have to pair it manually even if it has been conected previously. That's a shame.

Same here - second phone never connects automatically. Really annoys me because we are two daily users of the car :/
Yeah, I know your pain lol. I suppose the manufacter would need to invest on a better bluetooth chip for two phones to work. I come from a Pioneer with bluetooth from 2008 and it already allowed to pair 2 distint phones at the SAME time!!! And it still works.

A recent thread addressed this and a reseller replied with a config.txt that seemingly results in the Bluetooth trying the last phone used and failing that trying the next phone in the list.
Does Bluetooth only reconnect to the last device used?
My unit allowed me to pair multiple phones (my wife and daughter also drive) but the Bluetooth system would only reconnect to the last phone used. So if I drove the car last, and then my wife drives, it won't connect to her phone without manually...

I can see a few lines that might be relevant but I've no idea what the secret sauce is to change the behaviour.
Backup your current config.txt and give a few of them a try if you're confident.
Lines I can see that "might" relate to Bluetooth pairing...

Hum... thats interesting stuff. Thanks. I'll do a little more digging and give it a try if I discard the chance of bricking something.
This thread has gone completely off track
