I just replaced my battery with a new one bought from AliExpress and recommended from some people on Reddit. I noticed that it's really slow at charging. I'm using the original charger and USB cable, which was charging fine at fast speed with the old battery. AccuBattery reports an incoming current of 850mA on average, but now which is at 90% it reports about 500mA, while with the old battery it went up until 1400mA if I remember well. So may be a battery problem? Or it just needs some full charge/discharge cycles? This is the first time I'm facing this issue..

Well known issue with generic batteries.A few charge/discharge cycles would be good.
If still not fixed,try using a kernel which supports fast charging.

I'm interested in buying an external battery charger, or a cradle charger, so I can have two batteries going—one always charging outside of the phone—and thus never having to plug my phone in to charge. After a brief eBay search, all of the cheapest ones appear to be the same: you can find the model I'm referring to here.
My concern, however, is with the specifications listed, which read:
Input: AC 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.15A
Output: DC 4.2V~350mA~±50mA
USB: 5.2Vd.c.800mA
The output appears to be 300-400mA, which is slightly lower than a stock charger. As far as I know, this tells me how fast it will charge the battery. Since it will be plugged into the battery charger when I swap batteries (for the full discharge of the other battery), I don't care if it charges slower. However, the voltage appears to be quite low at 4.2V—and I'm entirely unsure how this will affect things. Will it still charge? Can it do damage to the battery? Should I not purchase this unit? What exactly does a lower/higher voltage mean?
Anyone?

I've been using this same battery charger for over a year now. It charges my stock and extended battery (3500mAh) without any problem. Yes it does take longer compared to the normal charger to charge your battery because of the low mA but I don't think it has had any affect on my batteries. So the only downside is it takes comparatively longer to charge.

I have this charger as well. I can confirm that I have have not had any problems with the charger sense I got it. I ordered mine from Amazon here:

I've just got an M9 and am happy with it. Thought I'd make the most of the quick charge tech so I brought a QC2.0 charger from amazon:
An Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 42W 3 Ports USB Desktop Charging Station [sorry, can't post links yet]
Reading the reviews, and also other threads on here, that people with M9's using QC charge very fast but mine just isn't.
Right now it's taken just oven an hour to charge to full from 49%. Nothing like what other people are saying.
I've contacted the supplier of the charger and they've just sent me another one but it's exactly the same. How should I continue testing? How would I determine if it is the Phone?
The only issue I can potentially identify is that after around 75%-80% the rate of charge seems to drastically drop off.
Any insight would be great !

Are you stock? if not what rom and kernel are you using?
regarding the drop off after 80% thats perfectly normal for QC, it will be quite rapid up until about 80+% then sort of trickle.

Pre - 80% its charging about 1%/minute. Which seems much slower than other people describe.
Post - 80% its about 0.3%/minute
Did it come with a USB cable, and are you using that one? In order to take full advantage of quick charging, heavier gauge and/or short cables are best. And yes, the closer to 100%, the less difference in charging rate.

Yes it came with a cable which was high quality, which I'm also using.
I did have a thought if it was because I was charging it with the phone turn on, but just did a test with it turned off and the results were very similar
Are you using the QC 2.0 port? Because that thing has only one.
I'm always using official chargers, same for my M9..works very well.

Hi, Yes using the correct Orange QC port on this charger.
Perhaps you could share what sort of charging times you're getting with your official charger?
Also worth adding there may be an 'offical' HTC charger but all that should matter is if it's Qualcomm QC2 licence device, which it is and is listed on the Qualcomm website
So I'm back to my original question, how can I tell if its the phone?
It would also be good if anyone with an M9 and QC2 could post their charging times

you could check with the app ampere and see what youre getting with different cables and chargers

Something else to try would be disabling HTC's car app as it causes issues with charging. Open the car app>go to settings>disable all settings.
Go to phone settings>apps>car>uninstall updates>disable.
I use a Choetech 60W Quick Charge 2.0 for mains, and a Choetech 51W Quick Charge 2.0 Car Charger for the car. The car one is ideal because it has a blue LED for normal power which changes to green when it's using Quick Charge, to give you an indicator it's working.
I get between 1% and 2% charge a minute depending on how hot the battery is and what is running (Viper 4.0.1 ROM - Android M). Usually around an hour and half for a full charge.
Yours doesn't seem excessively slow - make sure you try when your battery isn't hot and when no apps are running in the background. Maybe useful to run the Ampere app to see what the current battery drain is before you start... ideally should be 200ma or less.
Drop off after 80% is normal, ~1% every 2 minutes.

I had the same problem initially with my QC2.0 chargers, finally found out the cables(including the one packaged with the charger) were not up to the task........eventually started getting slow charge warnings.

QC is only effective up to 80%, after that it will slow down so as not to cook the battery. This isn't just QC2.0, this is all forms of quick charging. Lithium based batteries must be very carefully charged as overcharging will lead to devices exploding. Just ask the hoverboard manufactures. As such the charge speed slows down after about 80% capacity. To further confuse things, a battery does not have a physical capacity like a gas tank or other physical holding device. Things like load, temperature, and age all change the available capacity. Capacity %, much like signal strength bars, is simply an estimation done with unknown calculations by the phone vendors. If you really want to know what's going on with your battery, you have to get an app like GSam Battery Monitor that will show you the current voltage of the battery and the charge/discharge rate in milliamps.
I'm using the same charger and it charges from 5% to 100 in 1hr and 20mins

Tried Anker and Aukey, and also the charger from my wife's HTC 10. Any ideas why this isn't working?
Everything I've read (the specs on the official site) say that this phone supports Quick Charge. I've tested the HTC 10 in all 3 chargers and it quick charges so I know it's not them.
Tried it with Battery Care off and nothing. When Battery Care is on all I get is messages saying "Battery Care has crashed" or something. Pretty annoying, considering I just dropped about £50 on new chargers!

Battery was at 15% dude.
When it's quick charging, does it give any indication? I know the HTC 10 says "charging rapidly".

There is no indication.
You can check with Ampere.

This app doesn't show exact charging current, but if it shows over 2,000 mAh (wait about 30 sec) quick charge is working.
Please note there are heat throttling, so quick charge is disabled when device is really hot.
I bought Aukey QC 3.0 and when the phone is over 85%, I get 680ma; below that I get higher rates over 1000ma.
UPDATE: I put my phone in charge at 50% and I got over 2000ma but when it reached 80%, it changed to 600ma. So it supports quick charging but when it reaches to almost full, it activate battery optimization for the safety of the battery.
confirming above, I also came from a HTC10 and was expecting to see a "charging rapidly" message. My XZ also doesnt display this.
When using GSAM, I can see the rate of change of charge, when connected to a QC2.0 or a QC 3.0 charger and at low battery capacity, I can see rate of change of up to 60% per hour, this is in line with my other QC phones. It does appear that Sony throttles charge speeds more than HTC does above 80%, but I can understand that, and it doesnt bother me too much.
Yeah, I've had some time to look at Ampere and would conclude the same.
My XZ on the Anker charger is peaking about 2190ma when charging at a low percent, whereas my Z2 on the old standard charger peaks around 730ma - this is after 5 minutes for both.
Was just a little freaked that it didn't indicate that it was "charging rapidly". Guessing the throttling will also help battery life, although it was a bit of a sore one seeing the wife's HTC 10 peak around 2900ma.
Anyone know if the Galaxy s7 chargers will output 3.0 with the international models??
Did you buy a used phone? My XZ came with an OEM SONY QC 3.0 rated charger. Using Gsam battery monitor pro I get readings up to 2200+ mAh charge rates between 30 and 60% battery. That is generally considered to be the safest range to fast charge lithium ion batteries (fast charge generally being a charge rate higher than .5C, which for this phone is 1450mAh). I don't get any indication it is fast charging, it just does it. QC 3.0 applies a varying voltage and amperage throughout the charge, offering more gradual and "healthy" charge curves as opposed to conventional or QC 2.0 charging. Basically your QC 3.0 charger charges the battery as fast as is possible while not sacrificing battery life (say due to excess heat or overcharging).
Hi, I have recently bought a new XZ & bought the original Sony charger UCH12W at same time. The hour of charged is need approx. 2 hours from the battery percentage 30% to 100%. Is that any one face this ? Or maybe is my charger or either my phone problem.

Use the the detect usb in the notification keys before connecting the charger,, this will solve the fast recharging issues,, even if phone will recognice charging after few seconds,, charging will be fast and normal

this solves the problem, its sad that you need to do this first and its not automatically fast charging .
Still buggy
Its the only method that i find it working,,, but still there is a chance that phone still wont charge fast so keep an eye on the charging process,, and its temporary solution till next update for soctware as i hope its a bug in android 7

I recently purchased a Mi note 5 pro that comes with a 5V,2A charger out of the box.
While using it I realised the phone started warming up while charging with it- The phone reached a temperature of 42 deg C (well, the device got significantly warm).
Concerned, I tried out an old Samsung charger (5V,0.7A) with my Mi device and realised the charging temperature was much less (35 deg C) (here, the device remained cool).
Well, I wanted to know:
- Is it safe to charge the Li-ion battery at low charging currents (voltage is constant at 5V) ?
- Is it okay to use a different manufacturer's charger with my device (even if the charger is a genuine one)?
Also,
-I don't have a problem with longer charging times
-I frequently keep the device plugged in and maintain the charge between 20% and 80% (and full charge cycle once or twice a month)
-I am a heavy user but I avoid using the device while it is plugged in
-AccuBattery was the app I used for battery measurements
In the end I'm just curious to know how to prolong the battery life of my device and I'd really appreciate the help.

1. Yes it's absolutely fine to charge at a low charging current. It is in fact better for the battery to charge it at a low current.
2. Yes, it's also absolutely fine to charge with different chargers, the quality of the charger is what is important.

I hope someone can help me out with some physics and electricity knowledge.
I have been charging my surface for some time with a different charger.
The original charger data:
So instead of carrying the original charger with me I have used my phone charger, with these specs:
Of course, it is charging much slower, but it was ok for my purpose.
Recently I have noticed that the battery needs to be charged more often - so it drains more quickly.
Of course, most would say the battery capacity is still OK, but the surface is still pretty new , just a couple of months in usage- only 40+ charging cycles and I have already noticed a battery difference, especially after the last weeks with phone charger
So because the phone charger supplies also 20V I had to aks myself if it'S ok to use it or if it could damage the performance of the battery - and also if this already happend. The original Voltage is 15V max.
Any opinions /experencies on this? would be gratefull, thanks!
