USB-C to micro USB adapters - Xiaomi Mi 5 Accessories

Does anyone use a USB-C to micro USB adapater with their Mi5? I have a bunch of high-quality micro USB cables from my own phone that I'd like to use with the Mi5.
I'm wondering if charging speeds are affected and how well the adapters work. Anker sells a 2-pack for about $7, but I've also seen generics for $1 each. Is there a big difference between brands?

I use the original from Xiaomi! cheap and work great! Quick charge working with 6V and 2,6A

Didn't realize Xiaomi made those adapters! Rather buy theirs than from a 3rd party. I just ordered a few of them so I look forward to trying them out.

The only great thing about monster is the profit margin they make stores. God I used to love convincing people how they "needed" a monster cable to get things to work the way they should. Of course this was when I made commision way back when I sold them lol.

Just order from monoprice and get the amazing gold plated microUSB cable for like a dollar.
LOL, Monster Cables.
Better one though is the Denon ethernet cable that costs $500: http://usa.denon.com/us/Product/Pag...roductId=f7d26b3a-05a6-4724-a5c1-2a63642a6206

Yep. Bought that one for the car and bought 2 6ft ones for indoors. All work flawlessly.
I ordered some generic cables on eBay and they work just fine. I do like the way that the micro usb side of the cable that came with the phone is angled, making it easier to plug in in the dark.
I've looked online and found the Samsung replacement part but it appears they are only 2' 9" long (which is a LOT shorter than the cable that came with the phone).
Here's one of the sites where I found this:
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=38609&cat=888
Has anyone seen a longer (and possibly cheaper) cable like this?
Thanks!

Just buy the monoprice cable and score the right side of the microusb end with a knife or something so you can easily insert it in the dark.
Anyone seen one that is at a right angle that goes in the phone instead up straight up?
So when plugged in, in the car and mounted it doesn't go up like 2 inches before it turns back down.
**nevermind found one on ebay (searched usb cable micro angled)
I bought a 2 pack of retractable cables on ebay for portable charging. To my surprise they work to transfer data, too. It's interesting because the last retractable phone cable I bought could only be used to charge (samsung instinct)
Bought mine from NewEgg and an expensive one is about $15. I choose some that were $4 a piece. Works great
Just placed my order for 2 6ft ones. One to have at work and one at home.

do not get right angle! I made that mistake, it covers the 3.5 mm audio.
get an "Up angle" for a while usbfirewire.com was the only vendor and was $16 to $20 shipped depending on length, but they recently started showing up on ebay for $7 shipped.
I got an up angle from this vendor and it came fairly fast for hong kong (abut 7 days) and was a very good gauge and quality:

$7 shipped
Can anyone recommend a *thin and flexible* USB charging cable? I bought these from Amazon and although they work fine, they are too stiff and thick and I am worried that they will damage my port with prolonged use since I have to bend the cable before the phone lies flat on the table while charging. There are many other options out there but it is hard to judge by the picture how thin and flexible the cable is. I am looking for something as thin and flexible as the OEM cable. Thanks
Got mine in the mail the other day. Took about 3 days or so to get. Very quick shipping. The usb part that plugs into the phone is pretty snug.

3rd party microUSB cable

Hi
I just bought a 3rd party microUSB cable from ebay for $2. In outer material comparison it is better than my HTC stock cable. I did notice some differences in the microUSB pin though. Can some one please tell me if.this causes any issues in operating ? If you see the last image the female area for the actual connecting pin is slightly smaller than the stick cable's. Though if I gently connect it to my phone it does fit.
So aren't these things supposed to be standardize ? Why is the HTC pin different ?

Mind posting a link to we're you bought it from.
And how are they performing?
My wife always has issues with cables on her sensation, some end up fitting really loosely and fall out extremely easily. The last one I bought her was $20 and worked great, but is really beat up now, I need to get another one.
Type R-blood
This $2 cable (including shipping) really performs well, I am in India so I got it from ebay.in. Amazingly it had a warranty also. I have used it 2-3 times now and. works quiet well with my HTC travel charger. I plan to get more of these if they come up on daily deals again.

$20?!
Goodness gracious....the US Congress wouldn't even overspend like that. (Slight exageration. They would spent $400 on a USB cable)
Look at Monoprice.com. Enjoy the savings.
Don't hessitate to buy a cable there just because it's $1 instead of $20. The quality is not lacking. Monoprice just sells a cable that costs $0.50 to make for $1 for a 50 cent profit instead of selling a 50 cent cable for $20 to make a $19.50 profit.
I won't even get into the lunacy of $100 Monster Cables.
+1 for monoprice.com
Good lord $20 bucks for a cable? Where can I purchase that haha.
Seriously, always compare prices before buying online.

I recommend monoprice to anyone looking to buy cables. Never had a single issue with any of the microUSB or HDMI cables, wall charger, or cig lighter adapter I've bought from them. Between 2 10ft MicroUSB cables, 4 HDMI cables, wall charger, and the cig lighter I've spent about as much as I would have for a single HDMI cable at WalMart, let alone Best Buy...

Proper USB charging cables

Hey!
Found this forum as I was looking into why the h*** my USB chargers didnt charge my new S4 :silly:
This thread helped me a lot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274321
But one question remains unanswered:
Where to find a decent USB cable that serves same ammunt of current as the original charger+cable?
I feel a need for a longer cable than the 1M delivered with the phone.
First I tried a cheapo 3M cable, unshielded=300mA
Then a shielded 3M=600mA
Cut the shielded 3M one into a 70cm cable, and did not connect the shield=1900mA, just as the original cable.
Is it really so that any cable more than 1M long cannot be used if I want to achieve the full amps?
Or is there a good quality cable 2-3M out there just waiting for me to find it?
From my experience of buying Micro USB cables for use whilst driving and charging the phone.
All apart from the supplied Samsung cable are useless and don't deliver the 1900 mah charge.
I have lots of Mini USB cable or various lengths which I don't use any more.
So, I decided to buy a micro to mini USB adapter.
I bought it from Amazon UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mini-Micro-Adapter-Charger-Converter/dp/B008CAH5NA/ref=sr_1_1/275-7996231-0241748?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1373119829&sr=1-1&keywords=micro+to+mini+adapter Other suppliers will have them.
It works perfectly on any mini cable I attach it to, cheap retractable's to long length cable, giving 1900 mah all the time.
I've since bought another 2.
If you buy one of the above, you might need to remove some plastic from the end that fits into the phone, as it can slip out of the phone when tugged.
That only effected the first one I bought, not the other two.
It's easy it fix, just use a sharp knife in the joint seem of the plastic, to separate both halves, file off any excess plastic and close the plastic case around the metal work, it will relock into place.
In my opinion, for the price it's worth buying at least one.
I found a 10' cable (~3M) that charges at the same 1.9 rate as the stock cable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43321912#post43321912
You might want to consider monoprice. Have used their HDMI cables for years. Got a buddy in TV for 35 years who has used their cables at the network forever. They're also very reasonable. Their premium cable (6ft) will set you back $3 US +shipping.

LMAO, I knew that. Not sure what I was thinking when I put 1M in there.
Thanks for your replies!
First of I have ordered some of the adapters mentioned.
And for the cables.. Live in Norway, so tried to find some sellers who ship here...
Seems like I need to look more into that after my vacation :silly:

I just got my S4 and my existing set up does not deliver the needed current. I am not surprised the existing cable did not work since it was a flat wire that I pulled from a retractable setup. It looked nice running up my dash. Now I have to find a replacement. I only need about 50 centimeters or about 20 inches.
Any suggestions?
Mediabridge micro usb 2.0 cables on Amazon are high grade cables. I've purchased a couple of them.
I'll find a link for you.
Link found:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004GF8TIK
They have a couple of sizes. I purchased the 6 foot cables.
*Note:
Not all cases accept the size of the usb connector though, as it is slightly larger than the stock cable, without notification.

Best reasonably priced USB-C to USB-A 3.0 charging cables?

Any suggestions on reasonably priced USB-C to USB-A 3.0 charging/ data cables..... I am seeing cables anywhere from $5.99 each to $19.99 each and then there are these 56 ohm resister cables..... I am use to getting quality micro usb cables for the note 3 and tablets for $5.99-$6.99 with out any problems, so I am not looking for $19 unless there is really a difference. (And I want like 5 or 10 of them so the cost adds up), one for work, home, the car, etc,etc,etc.... Not spending $100 on charging cables.

Thanks everyone. I have used monoprice cables before, I am going to try the other ones this time.
I wanted longer ones, so I got these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01706YAXY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They're 5 foot long, $8 each. Needed to go from my desktop computer which is on the floor up to my desk.
Little more than you wanted to spend though.
Those are USB 3.0 you need USB 3.1
Buy the choetech 6 pack or the aukey cables

CHOETECH USB-C to Micro USB Adapter

Hi everyone, thought I would share this with you all. I have in the past had problems when it comes to not having my type c cable with me, and it seems all my friends only have micro USB cables which aren't much use to us 6P users.
I was offered to review this product by Choetech, and am very happy to say that this is a great solution if you have forgotten your cables.
They are type-c to micro USB adapters which can be attached to your key ring, and do not take up any space whatsoever!
I have attached the link here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-CHOETECH-Connector-Keychain-Resistor/dp/B01ICPPHGQ/ref=nav_ya_signin?ie=UTF8&qid=1476191615&sr=8-2&keywords=choetech+usb-c&
The email for the contact at Choetech is [email protected], if you contact her she will offer you items to review for a very well discounted price on the items.
Hope I have helped some of you out!
I bought a package of 6 cables from choetech and they are extremely well made. Works for data too when connected to PC. Good thick cable and OEM looking ends. Well worth the small amount of cash I paid. ( amazon on special )
I will have a boo at those ends Thanks.

Pretty much get most of my accessories from these guys
I got a pack of these for a honest review and although I haven't used it much my colleague has borrowed it off me many times to charge his LG device due to not having a spare USB Charging cable at the office. He cannot fault the device and says it still charges pretty quick albeit not as fast as USB C to C but that is to be expected.
They are nice and small enough to fit on a keyring and not loose easily.
It's nice to know that should I forget a USB C charging cable that I can rely on keeping this with me as it's on my keys and my friends all have at least one Micro USB cable lying around so i can always rest easy knowing i have a charging solution.
Again i'm impressed with Choetech especially considering before my Nexus 6P I had never heard of them , but they really are good value for money, designed well and seem to be pushing at our limited accessory market which is a massive plus as this is the 2nd accessory i've bought and can happily say i will continue to buy more from them.
