[S7 Exynos] Kernel with Screen Colour Control? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Okay, Guys I had used an Exynos S7 Edge about 6 months back and had sold it off. In that I had used a kernel with Colour Control via Synapse. Is there any kernel with same support here?

That's neat !
That's the standard standby animation for any 2.3 Android rom. It doesn't seem to be portable to other firmware as of now. Galaxy s is android 2.1.

[Q] Is LED Light possible on Sprint Nexus S?

I understand that the Nexus S doesn't have an LED notification. I've installed No LED as an option. Is it possible that one will be added later? I'm not sure what the 2 holes in the upper left corner of the phone are, but can either be used as a blinking LED?
I wonder why Google would choose to leave this feature off the phone. Makes me think not many people like the feature, which I personally love.

i believe one is a light sensor, the other is proximity? not sure exactly what they are but they aren't leds camera is the one on the right obviously.
download an app called noLED it works great.
*edit* missed the part where you said you installed no led. as far as i know it's the only option.
This is where the technical prowess of the dev community comes in handy. Look for NS4G compatible kernels with BLN, or Back-Light Notification. While the screen is off, it illuminates the row of keys at the bottom of the phone, on and off on and off.
You can even customize it the time-on and time-off to your liking, so it blinks in a way that alerts you. This is far better than noLED, because it doesn't use the screen at all, and the battery drain is negligible, if any at all.
I use Netarchy's kernel, and most other kernels out there feature BLN as well. You'll need to purchase the BLN Control app from the market, but it's worth every penny and is cheap anyways.
I cannot comment on NS kernel compatibility with NS-4G's, but I believe they are....dont trust me on it though.
UPDATE: I have confirmed that Netarchy's kernel works fine for the NS-4G. You can find it here. You'll need to choose the appropriate version, depending on whether you're running a stock-rooted ROM or a custom ROM. You'll need to be using Android version 2.3.4, as the 2.3.3 kernels he released are not compatible with the NS-4G.
If you use one of these kernels, be sure to install the Voodoo Control App as well, it'll greatly improve your music sound quality, as well as allowing you to tweak the colors of the display. You can also overclock with the kernel installed.
If you're not sure how to flash kernels or root your phone (both of which you'll need to/should do), then consult the Nexus S Dev Forum, and you'll find a guide or two on this process. Basically you're gonna need ClockWorkMod recovery and root access so you can flash the new kernel. Both will be beneficial to you in the long run, especially if you have any interest in customization and new ROMS.
Regarding to my tiny knowledge about display types I wonder if anyone could inform me about problems installing noLED on the Nexus S with SLCD display
Thanks

Voodoo color for Droid Charge?

Is the Voodoo color available for the Droid Charge? It has to be enabled in a kernel from what I can tell.
I also am highly curious about Voodoo Color. So far it appears that none of the Charge kernels have Voodoo Color included. It should be quite possible. I hope that Supercurio is working on it but these things take time.
I'm am stoked that Voodoo Control Plus is working on the Charge! Its available right from the market.
Does anybody have any inside info on Voodoo Color? I for one absolutely love the idea of optimizing and tweaking the saturated colors of my otherwise awesome SAMOLED+ display.
Not sure if this thread should be moved to the Dev section.
Voodoo color is possible (the Charge uses the same rendering engine), but a lot more work is required to hack it in. The files that are changed for Voodoo color are completely different from other Samsung phones that use Voodoo color, and most of the methods that see changes don't even exist in our source. Needless to say, it was a large project, and when I was looking into it, there were more important things to work on (and still are).
i know this is an old thread, but a lot has changed since then, we now have GB and Source, does this improve the likelihood for implementation on the Charge now?

I have use TGP kernel pwm fix. And it fixed my amoled screen

Flickerfree kernel

I love my new OP 6 phone, except one thing - PWM driven display below some brightness setting. Most things I read on the subject came from this wonderfull post (and kernel), which deals with the same thing on Samsung Galaxy. Is there any way we could achieve similar effect on our phones by some kernel / system tweaks? I would much rather deal with mura effects than eye strain, or at least drop the PWM - driven portion of the scale way down. I was trying to get started, poke around a little for backlight drivers and kernel source code, but I have little to none kernel development experience and knowledge so I got lost pretty quickly and do not know if it is even possible on Qualcomm platform.
Since I knew there is an app called Oled Saver on Google Play store, it prevents your brightness lower than certain value which may trigger the Flickering
Except that, the Mi 9 is rumored to get a DC Dimming for all the time update, most possibly tinkered with Its kernel, for our old obsoleted device, we could all depend on that OLED Saver App and tolerate the brighter display at night in order to prevent flickering
While DC dimming for all the time, is achieved more and more, hopefully we might see more new phones shipped with Officially DC dimming kernel, thus its Custom ROMs and users could all be able to utilize this flipper switch to save our eye from display flickering
Smurf Kernel has an option called 'Flicker free) in it's config file which should handle this problem
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/4-9-109-smurfkernel-1-0-0-t3805948
It's also overall a very good kernel, I use it since quite a time now

I second this, Smurf kernel actually implements the code from the kernel linked in the OP, if i'm not mistaken. Already read this from the Smurf thread.
And agreed, the kernel is very good !
Edit : Wait, i didn't see the OP date, why has this been dug up ?

So i read your post and overall i figured out that you have screen flickering issue when on low brightness. I had the same issue and additionally, it flickered alot when restarting/locking/unlocking the phone. I took mine to service centre and they said it's a hardware issue and replaced my display. No issues till now after that. This issue was also brought up in the oneplus community and even the bug hunters contacted me. At the end, the conclusion came as hardware issue.
Maybe yours is the same.

Well, seems like OnePlus guys read XDA Forums sometimes haha !
