I don't know how much you are concerned about the fact Chainfire is no longer maintaining SuperSU (apparently 2.76 version was the last one developed by him) and the fact it was taken over by some mysterious chinese company, but if you are - there's an alternative. If you want to read more about this issue - here's the link to reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/54xdmp/ccmt_who_exactly_are_the_owners_of_supersu/
The new owner of SuperSU may or may not be a bad guy, but closed source root manager in hands of some chinese company that we don't really know anything about is kind of a gamble. Fortunately there's an open source alternative - Phh's Superuser. Rooting a phone with it is even easier than using SuperSU, as you avoid all that system/systemless hassle and just root. The only disadvantage is that you need to install the manager separately.
In order to replace SuperSU with Phh's Superuser you need to:
1. Go to SuperSU and fully unroot your device
2. Download Phh's binary from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/wip-selinux-capable-superuser-t3216394 (TWRP flashable zip direct download link)
3. Flash the zip in TWRP
4. Download Phh's Superuser - https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=me.phh.superuser
5. Install Superuser and enjoy
I tried this on 6.01 stock and can confirm everything is working (so far). Let me know what are your thoughts about this. Thanks
Seriously ? If 2.76 was the last by chainfire, it means my 2.78 currently installed with nougat rom, with full power on my phone of course, is made by some mysterious chinese company, chills
On spetrum working nice ant thank you so mucho for the info:good:
I think I ll give a try with nougat, is the app on f-droid the same as on the play store ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.phh.superuser

It seems so (both have the same version number). They probably have different signature, so you won't be able to update PlayStore version in F-Droid and vice versa.
I can confirm it work on nougat perfectly.
Thank you
Thanks for the info.

Hello, yes, tried on stock 6.1 with squid kernel too, works fine.
The full unroot will uninstall the app automatically
In step 4, i have installed pph from play store
thanks dude!we hope that will be stable and supported!
can I do it right now?or must I f.reset first?also do I have to give permissions to root apps one to one?
Στάλθηκε από το SGP611 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
no need to factory reset.
May be before full unroot freeze or uninstall any app who will try to get root permissions, and be sure to not have any malware who will try to get root, just by security, we never know...
One pph apk installed from play store or fdroid : when you will unfreez or reinstall those apps, pph will pop up to ask if you want to allow root permission, like supersu
For anyone concerned about this issue, I highly suggest you read this:

There's most likely nothing to be worried about.

Hello, i am new here but i really need some help, i have a Motorola G 2014 and this was on Official Android 6.0 so i read about this rom called Lineage OS and i decided to jump into, so i rooted my phone and install TWRP and then the Lineage OS 14.1 with Android 7.1.1 and everything works just fine, but when i was in Android 6.0 in the play store i pre order the Super Mario Run game and everything ok but my surprise was when i enter to the play store in android 7.1.1 the game says is not compatible with my device, so i try to use the market helper (i get the no wifi connection error) and modify the build.prop but doing that i ruined my OS and had to reinstall everything again so my questions are: when the game realese in 2 days from now i can get the apk in some site and just install it and would work? and is it some way to get this game legit in the play store without going back to stock? i really apreciate if someone can help me, thanks!

Your not the only one who has that issue with the Market Helper. I wish I could use it again too.
There's only one way to really fake the market but, it involves editing your build.prop file and changing the Android build version and sdk version temporarily but, that is something that you really need to know what your doing and i will only recommend that course for more advanced users.
If you've installed it before, then you could have saved a copy of the apk file to a backup location so, when you upgrade to the Nougat, you can install the app manually.

If your going that route, you may need to install the Marshmallow and then install the game.
Locate the game apk in the "/data/app/" directory.
The folder will probably begin with "com." and, when you locate the folder, the apk file will be labeled (as all the apk files in that directory are also labeled) "base.apk".
Then just make a copy to wherever in your MicroSD card and you'll have a copy of it. You can rename it to whatever and it'll be okay.
To clarify, if it's a paid app, then you can't legally download it from an alternative location other than the Play Store (unless the developer provides that information). Having a copy of it, as outlined above, is legal as long as you don't distribute it.
That's probably your best bet.
I wish you the best of luck!

Install Magisk Manager and the zip that is downloaded from the program from recovery, in the settings of Magisk mark the option of Magisk Hide and restart.
In the state make sure that safetynet is in green.
If it does not boot, reinstall super mario run

The only difference between our setup is that I'm using SuperSu, the latest version 2.79. Don't know if that could make a difference.
EDIT: My SafetyNet is even failing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Just an FYI...
The Magisk guy's have an opened issue in Github regarding a little issue with the Magisk SELinux not working properly with Safetynet on many Samsung devices. It looks like they're working on it now.
I wasn't sure if you were aware of this.

This app is so weird my magisk did not pass the safety test and my game does work but i have to erase the Account:.xml every stage i clear. i gues it would be no solution until someone release a cracked version of the full game and no errors
Another FYI...
The link below reflects another issue regarding SELinux issues that Magisk is also currently addressing:
Magisk v11.* failing Safetynet tests on Phronesis N7 rom for Note 3 (SM-N9005) #132
I would recommend those of you who use Magisk to keep track of the 2 issues and a resolution they implement in the next Magisk release.

After you've installed Magisk you just need to go to the Settings in the Magisk Manager APP and enable Magiskhide and then you should See a new tab for Magisk hide in the Manager APP and just select the Apps you want to hide root.

So do I flash via twrp the zip in the magisk post?
I use magisk to hide mario but when i pass the tutorial send error 804 5100 and have to delete the Account:.xml located in /data/data/com.nintendo.zara/sharedfolder and then log in with my account so brings my save but i complete 1 course and the same error again and have to do it all over again, does anybody find a solution for this?

Don't think magisk works with cm12 on Amzn Fire Phone bc bootloader isn't actually unlocked. They should limit SafetyNet to Leaderboards - pretty sure that's what all the fuss is about. Fine, Nintendont take my money!
Magisk Manager won't install Magisk on my rooted S7 Edge. I've read that it's not compatible with Samsung devices right now, don't know if that's true. How else can I make Super Mario Run work?

Hi !
Same error for me... I installed Magisk, uninstalled SuperSU, set the Super Mario App to hide but i still get the error...
Did I miss something ?
Thanks
Rooted Nexus 5 running Cataclysm 6.0.1
Miitomo was patched using a special security bypasser made for it, and also with XPosed and RootCloak. Is there a similar method for those who seem to have issues using Magisk?
I myself haven't tried Magisk. I'll see how it works on my Galaxy S7. :fingers-crossed:
Xda, please merge this thread with the other thread that I made. I accidentally made a duplicate.
I do not have Google Play services installed, and it seems to need it.
I'm currently running Magisk with Magisk Hide on and RootCloak as well and it keeps erroring out. Currently the only workaround I've found is deleting the deviceAccount xml file in the app prefs folder. I have a feeling it has something to do with xposed or safetynet that's causing it to fail. I enjoy the game enough that I wouldn't mind buying it, but not if Nintendo is going to lock users out like this.
Hey everyone!
So I haven't been able to find much info in the threads about the issue with Netflix or Snapchat errors with custom ROMs yet and so that's why I'm posting here.
Snapchat won't let me log in(I've tried on other phones and prior to rooting the s8+ and they all worked)
And Netflix isn't working on any ROM other than CarHD rom which I'm not a fan of because of the status bar buttons which are a pain in the ass when it comes to bring down the notification drawer.
Does anyone have a flashable fix for either of these problems. I'm currently running the Nemesis V2 rom which is great btw

Search this forum. Your questions have been answered.
Custom Roms normally have root do they not? Your root is being detected by these apps and is therefore blocking access. If you only have SuperSu installed or nothing at all, install Magisk v12.0 instead.
Inside Magisk you can hide your root/custom ROM from Snapchat. They normally block access to rooted phones to stop people using root apps to automatically save images without alerting the person your snappchatting (somewhat defeating the purpose of the app) etc.
For Netflix the hide method won't work. You'll need to use a root browser and delete a system file named liboemcrypto.so. Look up this file name to get its exact location. I can confirm that it worked for me and many others. Let me know if this helps you at all.

No worries. Happy I could be of help.
Hey folks,
Firstly my question is not from noob point of view but right now I'm sensing there is no great reason to flash custom rom or root. Am i wrong?
I know that we can get ad blocking benefits. But except that can you guys tell your reasons for going beyond the comfort of living with op6 with:
stock os
Good enough & Needed options
Updates via otas and
a complete all feature working rom.
Use block this app to block ads, this is the first phone in 9 years I have had no reason to root. Just enjoy it ?
AdAway
Firewall to restrict curious/annoying apps
Full backup via TiBackup
Automization with Tasker on Screenlock
Backup of App Data to NAS
Access to Logcat
And it's easy to keep on OTA... Apply OTA, before rebooting reinstall Magisk, reboot
So why not?
AdBlock via VPN does not help me as I use VPN permanently already and only one VPN is supported.

The custom roms have added back a few things OP took out like always on display and better do not disturb settings.
Root and custom roms don't break OTA updates. I rooted on day 1 and I've successfully taken every OTA.
Custom kernels also add a few things that matter to some people, like Wireguard VPN integration.
For me i need root because of themes, diffrent emoji's, adblocker, doze for google play services, diffrent font and for a custom kernel so i get the most out of my device and get it to my liking.
Titanium backup.. Some good modules in Magisk,... Custom kernels.. Some reasons to root

If you root and use a custom rom then you can make a backup and I notice a MASSIVE speed increase, I've put xxNoLimitxx on my op6 and its just not compareble to stock...soooooo faast!!
Also I haven't come across any bugs at all yet!! Also you have Viper4Android and can increase the sound dramatically which helps big time. I find it in stock alittle soft.
Trust me you'll be so flabbergasted with the speed its crazy when the op6 is rooted. I had a op5 before this for a year and didn't notice such a increase in speed. Aps are sooo quick its nutz.
Anyways tootally up to you but if you do your homework you'll be fine, For me it went super quick rooting and chucking the custom rom on, was already done in 30min after all my shizzle was move over from my op5.
Anyways goodluck with deciding whatch gonna do.
oem android os must be root that you can turn on/off in developers settings !!
Root rights is extremely important feature on my phone and I do not even need a new phone that does not have it.
For now I have to use third party mod to be able to get right rights.
Shame on Google and Oneplus for it !!
I haven't needed to put a Custom ROM on my OP5 or again with my OP6 but I have to have root and recovery. EX Kernel is a must with Blocking Wakelocks, Titanium Backup for backups and freezing apps I don't want, Magisk Modules like YouTube Vanced, AOD, eventually Google Camera, Changing system sounds, adding more fonts, and for Nova Launcher Prime to be fully working needs root for things like double tap to sleep gestures and pull down notification from anywhere on screen.
I may not really need a custom ROM these days but I want the option, but I will never buy a phone I can't get ROOT and TWRP on.

Ha ha, amen brotha! Root is a way of life!
In my honest opinion if you need to ask users to give yourself reasons why you should root then you maybe shouldn't *I don't mean to sound sarcastic or a ***** but in this case anyway a few pointers to root would be modules with magisk for many things stock cant provide, titanium or root explorer etc for backups freezing apps and getting access to system files if need be, custom roms *as many have great mods added that stock cant do for example Reno rom has many features unique that stock and other roms can't provide*, kernels *can be tweaked to your liking and also modded for many other things to do that stock can't*, you can still get the official updates rooted so basically if they are allowing you to access it unlike many companies that don't why not take advantage?

Sysconfig patcher, youtube Vanced, xxx no limits rom (which is a module), google dialer, etc
Flash twrp, magisk, a custom kernel, xposed, xposed gravitybox, YouTube Vanced and Adaway and you'll have tons of mods on the stock ROM and you won't have to flash those stock based custom Roms that will make you want to pull your hair out.
