Samsung Service Centre Repair - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

So, I like others ended up with the pink line issue. Took the device today to my local service centre. They swapped the screen as expected but weirdly, when I got the phone back. It said it was network locked again.
They've assured me all they did was change the screen, but that's clearly not the case as the phone was running what I suspect is a different software.
Does flashing a phone lock it again? I'm completely confused. I've never had a phone lock itself again. Im also slightly concerned. if they took then my bank details, login details, messages etc are all on that NAND memory and I guess unencrypted?

WTF is wrong with this phone?

Hey guys.. So I've had my inspire for about 2 or 3 months now, and this thing is driving me apeshhh. Here is why...
For a few weeks now, the phone would randomly restart in the middle of doing something, always random. Sometimes while writing a msg in the stock facebook app. Sometimes when browsing market, sometimes when browsing using the web browser. Today I wanted to download Astro to see if the music I put on the phone went to external or internal SD. As soon as the download finished, the phone restarted. After it booted back up I looked through apps, and it never installed. I went back to market and searched it, pulled it up, and it shows installing.... let it sit for 5 minutes... nothing. Restarted, same thing. Pulled the battery... same thing... I can't cancel it, or try again. It will now no longer install anything else.
I figured maybe it needs to download something that it just doesn't have the network speed to use, and trying turning on wifi. IT WONT EVEN TURN ON. Under the settings menu to turn it on, it says error. When i tap on it, the error msg just goes off then comes back right away.
Anybody else experience this? I really wish SOMEBODY would come out with a decent f**king phone on the AT&T network.... I guess I can now add HTC to the list of people that can't build a decent phone. Just below Samsung... (What a POS line of phones they have released).
Anyway, phone is stock, not rooted, nothing turned off, completely stock.
How does the warrenty work now? I bought the phone outright, cash, $500... for this....
Thanks for any help.
Could be your phone mate. I've had this phone maybe about three months and haven't experienced those issues. Just might be a lemon you have. Where did you purchase the phone?

I bought the phone at an authorized AT&T retailer store. The kind you find in common shopping strips.
Try to see if they will give you a replacement

Back up your stuff and factory reset. If that doesn't work then either Root it and try a different ROM or get a replacement phone.
You might want to look at the thread in here about random shutdowns. It looks like the batteries on these phones can be the culprit. My phone randomly shutdown, sometimes restarted. I thought it was a ROM I had loaded at first. The problem got progressively worse no matter what ROM I used. It would do it maybe once a day & then within less than 3 weeks I have to keep it plugged in all the time. It happened when I opened a power-intensive app like navigation or a game. The battery is covered under warranty.
This issue seems to be rather uncommon, but it does exist.
Nothing compared to what Captivate owners went through.
Lemons do happen, but as suggested, I'd try another battery first. If that doesn't solve the problem, there shouldn't be any issue with getting a warranty replacement.
And that warranty replacement will, with near certainty, be a good one. Again, unlike the Captivate.
I've had mine for about 3 months with none of these issues. HTC phones for me have been great. Even their customer service and support if their products. And I have had Samsung, motorolla, and LG none at the same level of build quality. If you continue having problems get in touch with the HTC support they will help if not let u know if you can get a replacement.

I am a former captivate owner. That phone was so bad that it destroyed it's own internal memory. Every app continously force close, every process, upon startup one day. Restored a backup, got nothing, reflashed, got nothing, mounted it and formated it then ran a memory checking utility on my computer with it, and it showed like 46% of the sectors being bad, after then 2nd test somewhere in the high 50s. I promtly punched in the screen and folded the phone in half, and tore it into 2 pieces... So i think that may be why I'm relatively patient with this phone.. (that was also my 3rd captivate replacement). (Debating using a picture of the phone as-is in a DIY to fixing captivates and post it in that forum... get all your frustration out and buy a new phone.. ha ha.)
I will call HTC and see talk to a rep, maybe they know more about the problem and will be able to determine whether the phone or the battery is at fault.
Also, factory reset did not fix the wifi problem. Instead of immediately going back to error under it's status, and spent about 10 seconds trying to connect, then came up with error. This leads me to believe it's hardware related.
I will most likely push for a replacement phone then. I do have a concern with that though... My phone has never gotten wet, and only has a small indication of falling out of my pocket while sitting in a stadium chair (maybe a 12 inch drop onto concrete). Will this void my warrenty? The scar left behind is hardly noticeable, but if they looked for it, it will be seen. Another thing is, when I pull my battery cover off, there are 2 screws along the side, one is covered by a sticker that reads VOID, black sticker with white text. Is that some kind of indicator of water damage? I'm more familiar with white stickers turning red or pink from water damage... and as said, this phones never been wet.
Thanks again for the help.
At&t is usually good about replacing defective phones and will be faster than dealing with htc. You obviously have experience with at&t warranty having owned a captivate.

Those stickers are intact right? As long as their intact and not "punched in," which would indicate a screwdriver has penetrated in order to get the phone open, you should be good, as far as that's concerned.
Uhh well bad luck for you... I dont think this is a common problem...
Im guessing the iphone is on top of your list xD

[Q] Returning a bricked Verizon phone for warranty replacement?

I've read many forums and came across a lot of mixed information. Some forums say if your device is rooted, unlocked, custom roms etc. you'll be charged the $250.00 for sending a modified phone. Other's state that the verizon tech. will only check the box, the phone's physical condition and check to confirm the phone does turn on.
My replacement galaxy nexus will be here tomorrow and my current phone is defective. When powered on, it boots the "Google logo" then goes to the green android with chest open screen. ...it's a long story but in short, I wiped the sd card completely, including the partitions. There is nothing for the phone to boot to. I'm unable to get the phone to working order. (i've used all the 1-click toolkits and odin.) The phone is currently locked and the only red in color text reads "no recovery or boot img"
My question: will Verizon wireless charge me a fee for returning a physically mint phone that only boots to that screen? I initially requested a warranty replacement due to not having any mobile network connectivity and the phone made random snaps and pops, shutting down.
They have the right to deny your warranty claim if they can prove that you were directly responsible for the phone breaking. If they can not recreate any of the situations for which you are trying to return the phone and instead find that it's inoperable due to a faulty flash, you'll likely be out of luck.

The device is/was faulty prior wiping the sd card. I was able to boot the device completely and use every feature in exception to the mobile network. I spoke with a rep. who told me my phone wasn't connecting to their mobile network. She decided to send me a replacement.
Since the wipe of the internal sd .......... it only boots to the green android with chest open screen. It has no where else to go after that. I wonder if I should contact a verizon rep today and explain this to them- More or less the phone can't factory reset. As the phone is right now, it will be impossible for them to recreate what i'm returning it for. They would have to wipe the phone themselves and attempt to recreate it.
Update: they accepted it without any problems. ...thanks for the assistance.

[Q] No signal and crazy touchscreen

Hello there!
Since yesterday I've had this problem with my Z3 D6653. Yesterday unexpectedly it completely lost cellular signal. It was like that like for the whole afternoon, I was expecting it to solve by itself, however I rebooted it ike at 7 o' clock and that was it. Nonetheless, today it happened again, before midday. I tried to do the same thing with no success. I tried to enter settings and search manually for a network operator, but it was searching like forever and no result. I couldn't turn on or off mobile data either, nor change the preferred network type. But there was something else. A band on the screen was completely unresponsive to touch. I'll post pictures too so you can see well.
I just tried a factory reset and it was the same. I was testing the touch entering to the *#*#7378425#*#* and then it became worse. On the middle of the previously unresponsive band, touches began to be triggered out of nowhere, and now it wont stop. It's actually very difficult to use the touchscreen. So, what do you think it might be? I was in a pool on sunday, today it's wednesday. I lasted on the water with my cellphone half an hour, exactly. (I know because I took photos just before entering and exiting the pool).
Hope you can help me out. I'm desperate and I don't want to lose my phone :crying:.
have you tried repairing it with sony pc companion? if not give it ago, most likely software issue if it just happened out of nowhere, not unless you dropped.

Yes, I did a factory reset, I changed it's firmware from Australia to Hong Kong, and the only change was that I lost my info uselessly. In fact, the screenshot of the lockscreen showing no signal is post reset.
I forgot to mention that the touchscreen went berserk when I pushed the area where it didn't detect any touch. After that, all those touches were breaking havoc and it was a real pain in the ass to do anything. To enable the option to show touches, to set the alarm... All these touches happen mostly over a straight line, which can be seen on the screenshots. The outer lines are the borders of the unsensitive region, and the line inside is where randomly the touches happen.

Okay, so you used flashtool, flash another regions ftf and see how that goes. If that doesn't show the issue then it is most likely a hardware issue. Either when you dropped the phone it broke it or when you took it under water and it has been exposed to water. Not blaming you or anything but phones these days are extremely fragile.
And FYI, factory reset and sony pc companion are two separate things.
Maybe there is a fine crack somewhere in the screen?

I just checked and the glass is literally pristine, in the wholse sense of the word, as it was covered by a tempered glass since the very fist day I took the phone out of the box. It became a disaster and I took it off a couple of days ago, on Monday I think, or tuesday.
Anyway, I'm giving up hope. I think it's water damage. It's a pity that there's no kind of Sony centre in my city, and if I can get any assistance directly from Sony it would be by sending my cellphone to the capital. I'll call tomorrow and make all the arrangements. Hope it doesn't stab deeply my wallet.
My friend's Z3 had the same problem. The screen was registering touches out of nowhere. Then the upper side of the screen stopped working. He asked Sony for repair but since he was out of warranty, they said it would cost around $377 including parts and services as they would be replacing the screen. He opted for a third party technician, he paid $88 but the phone now has light escaping the side of the panel and is not waterproof anymore.

Water damage. If it didn't get in through the sim or USB ports, Sony should replace it for you. One or two vertical strips appear when it gets in through the speakers. I hope you closed the flaps properly.
I called to assistance on friday, but the person in charge wasn't there, so I'll have to call on tuesday as monday is a holiday. However, today I noticed that the unensitive band was narrower, maybe the humidity is leaving, so I put it out on the sun for it to dry, or so I hope. The antenna isn't working anyway.

S8+ black screen of death

Two days ago my phone died after i tried to reboot it while charging the display did not come on. The phone turns on, fully charges and the touch screen works. I've tried holding the power and volume - keys down with no luck. Today I was able to setup sidesync on the phone, everything seems to be working just not the screen. Is there any thing i can do, I've already contacted samsung and was told to take it to a service center. Before I do, I was wondering if there's anything i can do on my side before i go to the service center as im not to keen on paying for a repair i can do my self but if theres no other chose then I'll just take it there. The phone does get a little hot around right top coner. Any info would be appreciated.
You know another person or two have recently had about the same thing, black screen. I think they ended up going to a repair shop to confirm the screen issue. Seems like you've done some reasonable problem solving attempts..
Maybe someone will come by with other ideas on how to solve w/o a trip to a repair shop.
Did you ever resolve this? I just had this happen to a second S8+ after a few months.

Question S21+ shows no signs of life

Hello everybody.
I have an S21 + 5G with which I was comfortable until yesterday. After sending a message with Whatsapp, the screen went black.
I tried soft reset and hard reset but nothing has changed. The smartphone is under warranty but they informed me that the repair times could be long (repair centers are closed).
I am also willing to invalidate the warranty if necessary, in order to be able to use the phone again (I have not activated the download mode).
Do you think it is possible to restore the firmware in any way?
Thanks in advance to everyone.
also having this problem with my wife's s21+, she was using it fine this morning but the screen went black and wont turn on. any fix for this?

is it still out of power? i'd take it to the nearest service center; either ubreakifix or samsung care store
DO NOT INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY... you will need it!
The black screen of death is getting to be common with this model.
Samsung hasn't been transparent at all about the cause. Firmware and/or display seem to be to possible causes... another Sammy blunder.
Sammy wasting too many resources on the Fold line and not putting them where they are needed... on their bread winners.
Just another day in the box of rabid gerbils known as Samsung
