HELP ME on HONOR 8 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

so i tried to flash the rr rom on my honor 8 and it went to crap. so im hoping someone can help me.
i followed the steps. all i did was this (if you come from EMUI, please format data via TWRP and reboot again to TWRP)
and i did just that. then it said failed to mount system. when i saw that i tried to restore my phone with the backup i had right after i did factory reset. it said the same thing. i also saved my back up on my labtop and then i did it through the sd and it showed up on twrp but the file was empty. so the question is can i fix it and or do i need to go back to stock and reroot?. if the latter is the only option, how do i do it?
***UPDATE***
so i went into recovery and found the files and idk how i did it but i clicked some shhh and idk it backed up and now my phone is working.

[Q] Bootlooping MD5 mismatch after CM11 install

Using ROM Manager and the latest version of CWM I tried installing today's (12-08) nightly build of CM11 to try it out. After doing a complete backup and then wipe data/cache the install failed. I'm not sure why but it said it was aborted and to check log and report the error to ROM Manager.
After that it asked if I wanted to reboot and I wanted to make sure I restored from my backup so I backed out of the screen but then it booted up on its own. It did not get past the S3 loading screen with the CM Android/alien guy it just turned off, back to that screen again and then back into recovery.
At this point I went to recover from my backup file and it said MD5 mismatch and won't load. I've since tried wiping data/cache/dalvik cache all manually and then boot up, or wipe everything and try to install the rom again... every time it just loops back to recovery mode. The last time I tried installing the rom again it told me I might have lost root access and asked if I wanted to repair it... I'm not sure what that means.
Any suggestions? I am lost at this point. I have no experience with ADB (I'm not sure if that's my only option) but I've used ODIN mode a few times. Easiest solution would be best.

I had the exact same issue when trying to flash that same CM11 nightly build but with TWRP...
I just pulled the battery took my SD card out and reinserted it and I just kept booting into recovery and turning the phone off until it let me reflash a rom or backup. Obviously this isnt the most legitimate solution but that could work for you! It did for me!...
This could have been caused by needing an update of CWM or TWRP to better support 4.4 perhaps?

I tried that to no avail. I unfortunately had to revert to stock unrooted via ODIN mode and it got me to boot back up. I can just reroot now. Luckily I made a backup with Titanium and uploaded it to my Google Drive.

Need to reboot my Mate 8

This is my sec on post in regards to my dilemma and Im hoping someone can help me.
Recently I tried to upgrade my rooted Mate 8 to the latest version of twisted mate 8.
After I did a dirty wipe and installed the rom and the system rebooted, instead of rebooting into the new rom, for whatever reason it booted in the factory restore and forced me to reinstall the factory rom of the phone. Now I'm back to the original factory settings of the mate 8 in all its communist glory and its counter parts to google apps.
I tried to re-root the phone and the furthest i got was installing TWRP. But when i boot into TWRP it asks for a code to decrypt the data which i never encrypted in the first place and if i bypass that all storage units on the phone say 0 bytes, even if i transfer a new rom to the phone it won't show up in TWRP
What id like to do is something similar to a samsung phone with ODIN and just clean wipe the entire phone with a fresh Kernal and start from there to install Twisted Mate 8.
is there anyone that can help me with this? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
The farthest Ive gotten so far is installing TWRP on my phone but the DATA is always encrypted, even if I flash a recovery img from TWRP website.
I cant seem to get passed the encrypted data on my phone.

[SOLVED] I bricked my Honor 8 I think, PLEASE HELP

So I was trying to switch over from supersu -> magisk and something happened and now I can only access erecovery (can't access twrp or when I boot normally I just get the honor logo there forever). When I tried downloading latest version I get an error. What can I do? Please help ASAP since this is my first phone and I don't wanna mess up already
*EDIT
I can actually boot into twrp and my PC can access my phone but the only thing in the storage is the folder "TWRP" which is empty.
I faced the same problem and I fixed it somehow but I don't remember how actually I did that. But I guess I did first format the device using twrp and then flashed the magisk agin.(try it, but I am not sure if it was that or not, i did that about 3-4 months ago)
I bricked my device when I went to twrp and did a wipe when I was trying to fix a bug where it said there was 0mb in storage.

Bricked honor 8 please help

Hello, today while trying to get back to stock i wierdly bircked my honor 8
I flashed the stock recovery and stock boot img
Then i flashed a rollback package and a marshmallow package which i used for this same thing before.
Now the phone didnt start for a solid 30 minutes and ive decided to reflash the rollback and marshmallow package, but after i flashed the rollback got stuck at the boot logo, not even the stock bootanimation showing up.
The phone doesnt reboot neither in any of the recoveries nor in bootloader.
Any help would be appreciated.
Stephen
Okay so after all of this i managed to reboot to bootloader and get my hands on one of my previous unlock codes. So now ive got an unlocked bootoader, but after fashing twrp the phone is stuck at the 'your device is booting now' when im trying to get in it
I thing you have flashed the wrong TWRP, check for the latest version or at least the one for your build
uh well, hello there again.
i've tried to do the dload method which failed(i used lots of versions tho none worked)
and i've tried flashing marshmallow twrp, which at the moment, well, it cannot mount anything. no partition can get mounted.
Does any of you guys have an idea of what i could try?
thanks in advance
Does it mean that you have access to TWRP ? if TWRP cannot mount a partition, go into mount section, tick system, data, boot, vendor and then reboot to TWRP again. Then try your previous operation. If it cannot mount data, go into wipe, advanced wipe, and click on format data, then restart TWRP and try again
seems like i somehow broke the partition table, cause it shows every storage as 0 mb and mounting isn't available, cant tick the option. Looks like i will have to find some service center to repair it by my own cost, by the end of the month. Though im giving it around the 25th so i got some more time till then, so maybe i find some solution to this problem.
Hey, so I managed to make the phone work again.
I have flashed boot cust recovery recovery2 and system from the italian marshmallow firmware, then I flashed that same firmware using dload method(tho it failed at 99%)

You tried only once? Maybe you should now try to flash TWRP recovery and restore a backup made by TWRP. I can provide you one but for FRD-L09, not another. Another method would be to flash the rollback package and then retry flashing an EMUI 4.X ROM (dload method for both), hope you'll figure it out
I think i expressed myself wrong.
That was how i got the phone to work.
Oh lol I misunderstood because of the "it failed at 99%" and I thought the phone wasn't rebooting , no matter I'm glad you succeeded

[HELP] Bricked device ? need help

my device is BL-L21 version (EU variant)
I saw this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/rom-aospextended-6-4-honor-6x-t3935711
So rebranded my phone to indian model to get emui 8 according to this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onj2Z5eh7Mo
Then flashed this custom askuccio recovery : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qvIgmlPPJ0amS8-aNEIG3xDKc9tHxrW7/view
Now in custom recovery followed the instructions (wipe system cache dalvik data) but could got errors like "could not mount this" "unable to unmount that"
At the time I didn't know all I had to do was to change filesystem then get back to previous one.
So I went into fastboot erase system, data ,cache.
I also wiped internal storage, which I think was the big mistake I've done.
Then back into recovery flash asop6.4 and let it do it's thing, it got stuck on boot screen for quite some time.
When I got back to it, EMUI eRecovery stated something went wrong and proposed to factory reset device. Which I did but gave an error.
Now I tried
* dload method https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73954487&postcount=240, download link is dead btw.
after copying dload to /sdcard/ and rebooting with vol+/vol-/pwr down, gives : "software install failed"
* HurUpdater, I have trouble finding the correct update.zip/update_all_hw.zip/update_data_public.zip files. Since I can't boot any rom right now I can't use Firmware Finder app.
I also tried to look into /tmp/recovery.log. deleted it because too big, just wanted the result of HurUpdater but I guess permissions have changed and now nothing gets written to it.
* eRecovery to try to get back to stock and do it all over but it didn't work, which is normal since everything is unlocked in the phone.
device then reboots and goes to eRecovery.
I just want to get AOSPExtended running, what should I do ?
Oh yeah also, beginner mistake : I don't have any backup.
Did I do something wrong to get no answers?
