Mate 9: Can't get access to carriers screen - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I've had my Mate 9 since January 17 and generally no problems (apart from the one I'm about to describe).
I can't seem to get access to to the screen that shows which carriers are available. I can press the the appropriate link 'mobile networks' (see screen shot) but nothing happens apart from the carrier name flashing briefly at the top of the screen.
This is the second time this has happened in the past few months. The first time, the only way I solved it was by hard resetting the phone. I don't really want to have to do that unless I have to.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I might try?
Cheers

Have you updated since January?

Yes I have. All latest updates as available for UK spec phone.

Actually, I think I solved my own problem! The latest b190 firmware after installing, gave me access to the the carrier screen. Not sure whether b190 actually fixed the glitch, or whether the process of upgrading the OS has temporarily fixed the problem? We'll see! ☺

Check for update not available at this time ...

I have an unlocked boot loader, and am rooted. When I check for OTA updates I get this message. I don't think this should be the case. The error message pops up immediately, indicating that it's not even trying to contact the update server.

Could you say which one ? I've left the OTA Updates (or similar name) service enabled, most of the other Moto services I've disabled via Titanium, and I've got the same error. Guessing it needs another one to perform the checks.
Couldn't figure out which one. I disabled auto hibernate, did a rest and confirmed it was something I hibernated. No time yet to experiment and figure out which one. If you get a chance do post back here.

L12, B317 - Strange notifications from EMUI (?)

Hi all,
I have to L12, both with B317.
On both of them, in the last weeks, I have started receiving strange notifications apparently from EMUI. Apparently, they want to open some webpage, but I never allowed it to do it. On both phones nothing new has been installed recently and I haven't noticed any strange "activity".
Does anybody know anything about it? Do you know any way to stop them? They are quite annoying... I attach a few screenshots.
Thanks!

Long tap and it should take you to the app making the notification then uninstall or disable

Oh really? Wonderful, I wasn't aware of this function! I will try with the next notification I get and I will let you know. Thanks! :good:
Ok, it looks like the notifications are coming from the Live wallpapers, which seems to be part of the EMUI and it seems it cannot be unistalled.
I don't have this specific application listed in the Notification options, so I cannot block it. Any idea?
Are you rooted? , if so use Ti backup to uninstall/freeze. If not, I think when you click the termina button then disactivate should then be clickable (idk havent tried)

Security update?
Doesn't say what's in it.

Automatic install for me. But curious to know exactly what it was. Wish they would tell us what they install on our machines. A simple one line statement like 'fix security issues' or ' bug fixes' would help.

It just has general description as other updates. Your build Number should be ended with PL1
P= 16 or 2016
L= 12 or December
PL1 = Version 1 , Released on December 2016

One improvement not listed is that it seems the phone interface now works more snappy on android Auto. On my Mate 9 Android auto had been a total mess. They had fixed it not so long ago mostly....but the phone interface was still SLOW and seemingly unstable causing android auto to crash and come back. Had carried over just like the Mate 9 to this EMUI 9 Mate 20 X almost the same other than it was a bit better I think just cause the phone is faster and more powerful...but would still crash and come back. It seemed related to the call history as it was fine with minimal stuff there...but as the call log grew it always bogged down. Now seems to come right up and just work like it should finally and never messed with the call log backlog or anything...just seems to finally be fixed with 172.
Any updates? I am in 9.0.0.183

[Q] Has anyone got a small new update?

Few moments ago I got patch 5 to improve 3rd party apps compatability as described by the updater...
I attached the before and after. I wonder if this update will impact system performance as we know phone makers are sly and want us to keep changing phones [emoji19]
Any ideas what is coocked behind the scene?

I didn't have SIM card in the phone for 9 months and did not receive any OTA (checked also from HiSuite)
Now, put my SIM in and almost immediately received that patch05 for b252 - and no problem (fingerprint, everything ok)
But I'm not receiving OTA for b275, checked also from HiSuite
