Looking for a good ROM - General Questions and Answers

Hi!
I am looking for a ROM that is super customisable, saves power (I'm using and old phone that overheats) and really stable for my Samsung Galaxy S4.
Right now I'm using Lineage but it isn't customisable to my liking and it uses a lot of battery even on power saving mode...
Thanks for reading my first post

My android run so slow

Hello, how can I resolve my problem with my android phone? It seems to run so slow... :| Why?
What phone? What are you trying to do? Slow compared to what?
Your solution is to get a different phone.
No need for a different phone, just tweak it or add a custom rom
Also, whats your phone?

Define "slow" specifically. Even a NASA rocket is slow compared to the speed of light.

Best Mod Ever for Speed, Lag, and All-Around Awesomeness

First off, I'm not the original creator of this. All credit and endless thanks goes to @zeppelinrox for making this and constantly making it fly a bit higher, stronger, better, and definitely faster.
Also, I'm only posting this because of all the hype I'm seeing lately over the CrossBreeder mod. (Certainly CB is great, but Zep's work is thanked by the originator of CB, and as you'll come to see, is much more extensive and tweakable, hence the name--V6SuperCharger.) Zep's work is amazing and I'm surprised there hasn't been more, if any really, mention of it in our threads. Also, in looking through both the V6 thread and the CB thread, they are compatible--for the most part--and will run concurrently.
Enough talk...again, because of all the amazement over the CrossBreeder mod, I felt it extremely necessary to share Zep's V6SuperCharger script. See for yourselves, and please post responses about your experiences and what not. (Just don't bash the meticulous work of either developer, please.)

In addition to the above link for the V6SuperCharger script, you're gonna need to modify your services.jar file. This is necessary for completely supercharging your launcher, for getting the OOM values to stick, and therefore allow you to be %100 V6Supercharged. @zepplinrox has a seperate thread for this (in Android Development forum). The tool is a .zip file, which you run from your computer with the device connected via USB. It contains what you'll need to have the services.jar patch process fully automated.

I have, and even ran the ultimatic services.jar script to patch the launcher, in order to get it to 100% supercharged...as the script states, made the phone screaming fast.

Zeppelin's OP posts are scary
i have no idea what that is but i wish I hadn't run it on my phone
I'm running it with SHOshock ROM and KT's kernal, using "1000HP" mode that was recommended, everything all around is quicker, snappier, seems completely stable. Keep in mind I'm a noob, I just followed the instructions on his page and read everything that was happening, and choose the proper settings.

Actually, if you let the cust-oomizer run (option 10), it will boost the values even higher, since our device had 1800 free RAM, and not just 1000. Check it out and let it apply those customized values. You'll be Super-custom-charged!

Those look good to me. The ones that say "no" are just for pseudo-cleanup. You can run them as needed. Personally, after I've setup everything, I run option #18 (vacuum) and it keeps things snappy. Other than that, if you're 100% supercharged, enjoy the speed, sir!
:good:
Also, thanks for actually thanking a post! In our forums, I see so many people reply or respond saying thanks, but they don't really thank the post--so kudos to you for that, and I hope you do that to all posts you find helpful (not just mine).

I am going out on a limb here, no bashing required
I am going to try this, but the hardware on the G3 is completely different here, should this get a complete overhaul for the G4? Just a question.
I could be, and I'm probably wrong here.

Zep recently stated he's woking on a bit of a newer version, but firmly maintains that his script is for ALL Android devices (regardless of how new). The only thing I've noticed that really tunes this specifically for our device is to run the Cust-OOMizer values, as they boost much higher than the 1000+ option.
It's definitely worth it on our device; you'll see. Remember, the script adjusts and customizes automatically to the values of the device for which it's run.
Of course, if for any reason you don't like the mod or any part of it, you can completely uninstall it (one of the options) or you can choose to apply this or that or whatever specific aspects/values you'd like--which is just one of the many great qualities of this script.

I've actually been running this script along with CB and they play nicely together! Just to be sure that V6 runs completely after reboots and stays at 100%, in SManager I go to /data and find supercharger.sh and set it to run as root and run at boot. Try it out and see if any specific combos work/feel better for you and share your thoughts here.
Glad you're liking it!

Why not? And if so, just uninstall it completely from within the script itself.

Farewell, i9003 forum

Hi there! Most of you probably don't know me, as I'm not a developer/contributor, nor someone who writes a lot.
I just wanted to thank you for these two years full of new roms, themes and kernels, wich made me busy for hours, but then made my life easier. Why am I saying this? Because tomorrow will come my new device, and I won't be using my Galaxy SCL as my main device anymore (gonna leave it on the bench, just in case hehe).
I wish you all the best, and maybe in the near future some of us will be sharing devices again (that would be great)!
So this shouldn't be a GoodBye, but a See You Next Time!
Cheers!

I'm on it right now - it is bloody blazing fast for sure. I missed the PIE controls but just ended up using LMT on it so PSX is my new rom now
Only thing thats REALLY irritating me is that I cant download any large apps using play store. It goes till 100% on many downloads then just never finishes and crashes. Tried multiple times reinstalling even 3 different roms but all based on JSS. I think JSS is the prob

If the rom is that good, I'll try it out too haha!
Gonna give you feedback! Thanks for the advice
Well, after a few days trying it, I reverted to CM10.2! It's true PSX rom is faster than any other rom I installed, but it lacks things.
As I'm still amazed by the speed nexus 4 opens everything in stock rom, I prefer relaying on a rom which I know would do the thigs I want
Anyway, it's a GREAT rom!
Thanks for the advice, pal, cheers!

Yeah that is true, modification is pretty limited, even with Xposed Framework.
Is it just me or is there a real lack of different roms on the N4? Like on SL we have so many like S4 Rom, themed customized roms etc that look different from AOSP 4.3. All I see on Nexus 4 forums are AOSP based this and AOSP based that :/, theres like no themed roms, and this one cool transparent rom that was on 4.2 isnt going to be updated to 4.3 so I dunno. If you come across some cool roms for n4 give me a message

3rd part app ultra power saving mode ??

I think it must be a 3rd part app for any phone that can ashieve (ultra power saving mode) like on S5 !!
if some body knows help please

Root +Greenpower + Greenify = V.Good results even on stock ROM/Kernel
Use juice defender +greenify
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I liked the juice defender but it is not updated since 2012 I guess. That's why I highly recommend Greenpower.
I think the OP actually is trying to ask for a port of the ultra-powersaving mode that greyscales your screen etc for i9305, I doubt that that would be possible, even if it was it would take some time, probably a while after s5 comes out and people start tinkering with it.
Anyone interested in this? Any progress?

I appreciate the response. Thank you.
When you say there's no AOSP support, does this mean no roms based on stock? I am a bit rusty with Android jargons.
So basically all roms are based on Samsung TouchWize?
Again - thanks

Speed, the quality itself - changing from a "plastic" brick to aluminium is just a wow-feeling. I am OP doesn't make bad phones but when you change to something which is made by an company which exists already for so many years...samsung just makes the best phones in any way out there! I like touchwiz, the screen is awesome, best camera behind the s7, MM flys on the phone
That's great!! U actually got me excited. Will have mine with in a week or so. Do you have a recommended ROM (from your experience)?
Thanks!
