i can't flash twrp because of FRP lock and I can't boot the form because of dm-verity verification failure. How can you help me?

YOUR PHONE OR INSTALL ANYTHING FROM INTERNAL STORAGE. TO FIX THAT JUST GO TO YOUR RECOVERY>WIPE>ADVANCED WIPE> TYPE YES.
ADVANCED WIPE WILL WIPE ANYTHING FROM YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE INCLUDING: PHOTOS,VIDEOS,APPS,CONTACTS AND ANYTHING THAT IS INSIDE THE INTERNAL STORAGE.

Are you trying to break devices here? It's format data option you're looking for. It will wipe all your data and that's what needs to be done. One other thing, the guy brings up external SD card in step 10 but you can do it using computer if you enable USB debugging. Plug the USB cable when you boot up in twrp recovery and transfer the superuser file over to your storage.

doesnt work for me
ive done all steps but the problem is that the phone never boot into twrp and try to reboot but said it failed so i had to manually factory reset it so it can boot again is there a way to force the phone booting into recovery?

Did you found the solution?
I'm trying to install LineageOS 15.0 but Cant even get to install TWRP.. SMH

Fix ----
There is an option in odin that reboots the device after a flash. Go to odin > options > uncheck auto reboot. That way your phone doesn't get stuck at the samsung logo. Quick tip: If you try to reboot into recovery after twrp flash and fail, for example you hold down the wrong keys, your phone will be stuck at samsung logo so you have to be sure your doing it right. If in any case this does happen, hold power down volume and power button for 5 seconds and your phone will bootloop. Try rebooting into recovery again and format data

I love rooting and playing around with different roms, currently I have 3 roms I am testing out. Each are fast
SupermanRom.v1.1.9
RR-N-v5.8.5-herolte-Final
Note.Fan.Edition.Vol2.0
I have several kernels that I test out and overclock. As for battery life I am not sure as I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Battery Case HETP Rechargeable Extended 4500mAh Backup Battery Charging Case

good info guys, thanks! Just to confirm, the galaxy s7 edge and regular galaxy s7 exynos are the same phone essentially? this root should work on both edge and regular exynos galaxy s7?

Unfortunately, yes

A Newbie’s guide to install PB1 ROM, root, unlock the bootloader and update to PF4-6

I wanted to update PB1 Lollipop to PF4-6.0 and unlock the boatloader. All that information is available on this forum in different posts, but requires some degree of back ground knowledge and is not always easy to follow for newbie’s like me. BY trial and error, and reading lot of thread postings, I was able to accomplish the goal. I am posting this guide as it may be helpful for other newbies.
BIG thank you to jrkruse, GeTex, muniz_ri, and other developers who put up lot of work. All credits go to them and I don’t claim any credit for anything.
My phone had Samsung eMMC and that is why I was able to unlock the bootloader. If your phone has Toshiba eMMC, you can’t unlock the bootloader and have to stop after rooting installing the PB1 ROM.
You can check eMMC by opening this file “/sys/block/mmcblk0/device/cid” in a root explorer app (e.g. root explorer). If the first two number start with 15, then you have Samsung eMMC. If first two numbers are 11, then you have Toshiba EMMC and your boot loader is unlockable at this time.
Another way to check eMMC is by installing eMMC Brickbug Check from the
HTML:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check&hl=en
or from
HTML:
https://apkpure.com/emmc-brickbug-check/net.vinagre.android.emmc_check/download?from=details
and then running the app.
Install PB1 ROM and then root following instructions from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
Before Doing Anything Please Install The Latest Samsung Drivers SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe
Installing PB1
You will lose all of your app data and apps installed, your internal storage will be fine, backup is recommended anyways
1. Download G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_VZW.zip and unzip it
2. Reboot to recovery (Power+Volume Up+Home Button) and wipe data from recovery, reboot to bootloader
3. Plug In your phone and open Odin
3a. Make sure your phone is recognized (In the Odin Screen Under ID:COM the box under will be blue with your com port id #)
4. Click the AP button in the Odin Screen and locate and click on the G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_G900VVRU2BPB1_HOME.tar .md5 this is the file that was unziped from the G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_VZW.zip (Everything you do will be flashed via AP!!!!)
4a. This will take a few minutes for odin to load and verify MD5. When done in the odin message box it will say
5. Under options DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING
6. Now click on Start
7. When finished you will get a green box that says PASS!
8. Phone will reboot automatically to recovery and finish updating then it will restart. It may be stuck on red Verizon screen for 10-15 minutes, so just be patient.
9. When Phone has finished loading and has booted up go through setup and do not add any google accounts or Samsung accounts or anything
OPEN DEVELOPER OPTION
Go to the settings menu on your GS5.
Scroll down to the "System section and tap "About Device."
Now scroll down to "Build number."
Tap the "Build number" section seven times. ...
Now back out to the main settings menu, and you'll see "Developer options" listed

Use TWRP 3.0.0. as newer versions have difficulty accessing the sd card. You can down load TWRP 3.0.0 for ODIN from https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.0.0-0...e.img.tar.html
Reboot
Note: To re-use the sd card used for unlocking, format your SDcard in android OS, otherwise, use a Linux box and a card reader and use FDISK to wipe all the partitions, then it can be formatted correctly
Now copy following files on to the sdcard
-G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)
-TWRP_Prepare.zip
-PB1_Firmware_Only_NK2_Kernel.tar.md5

MARSHMALLOW PF4-6.0.1 INSTALLATION
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900voe1-5-0-keeproot-t3149784
From the above thread, flash G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top left of screen
Click Wipe then Click Advanced Wipe Then select System, Data, Cache. Then swipe to start wipe
Press Back button
Now flash the above ROM thru TWRP's Install button and then reboot
Phone will hang at the Verizon red screen
NOW FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM “If You Already Have Bootloader Unlocked And On A Samsung TW Rom” section of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top of screen (If you reboot into android recovery, choose Reboot to bootloader and then reinstall TRWP thru Odin AP)
In TWRP Flash TWRP_Prepare.zip
Reboot system
It will reboot in to safstrap recovery (watch carefully as Safestrap Splash Screen is visible only for few seconds and then disappears – Choose recovery on the left side of the splash screen)
From safestrap, choose Reboot > Download
In Odin Under AP slot load PB1_Firmware_Only_NK2_Kernel.tar.md5
In Odin Under PIT load S5_KLTE_USA_VZW.pit
When finished on reboot watch for Safestrap Splash Screen and enter Safestrap (watch carefully as Safestrap Splash Screen is visible only for few seconds and then disappears)
Now go to Reboot Menu and click on Download Mode
Make sure in download mode the current binary is Samsung Official. If it says custom, repeat the above step till it shows Current Binary: Samsung official.
If Binary Status is Official Pull battery, restart and enter SafeStrap by choosing Recovery on the left side of the splash screen (DON’T press any buttons till you see safstrap screen and then enter)
Install: SafeStrap_PF4_Bootloader_Unlock_AIO.zip
Phone will Power Off.
Pull remove battery and then place it back
This process installs TWRP 3.2 which doesn't see the SD card. Hence, now we need to install TWRP 3.0.0
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top of screen. Click on Reboot and then Download button. When phone boots into Download mode, reflash TWRP 3.0.0 via ODIN AP
When phone reboots, It may be stuck on Verizon red screen for 10-15 minutes, just be patient.
That's it, you will now have on a rooted/unlocked PF4
2017-01-10: Edited the guide to make it simpler.
Sorry for not being able to answer questions in this thread as I have a very limited knowledge of this whole process.
Great job!
This works*.
I just finished the process of researching everything and installing most things based on the many different threads people vaguely pointed to.
It's nice to see someone compile it all together in one spot.
I previously had to reinstall the full PB1 restore image several times because I had gotten stuck along the way a few times.
The main thing I took from you that was different from other guides was that I installed PF4 from TWRP instead of FlashFire, maybe that helped things work.
*Some tips/modifications based on what I did based on other guides and now partially yours for the last few steps that worked just now:
1. The part where you install G900V_Fix Safestrap.zip and then Install PB1 ROM (VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.zip) is unnecessary.
So in other words, after Knox_Removal_SU_BB_INIT.D.zip, skip straight to unlocking Bootloader.
2. After unlocking the bootloader and reformatting the SD card, I'd suggest copying over all the remaining zip files you need for the rest of the tutorial to your device... that way you don't need to take out the microSD card and find a microSD reader.
3. I can't remember for sure, but I think after installing the PF4 ROM (I used G900V_PF4_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)), I had to reinstall TWRP 3.0.0 from ODIN.
4. Here's the link to TWRP 3.0.0 for ODIN https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.0.0-0-klte-klte.img.tar.html
Those are all the suggestions I can remember. Great guide!

In retrospect, you are right that I did not need to install PB1 ROM (VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.zip). So removed that part. also made other changes as suggested.
Thank you!

Great! Just a few more suggestions:
1. I think the part with "Once phone reboots, GO BACK TO PHONE AND CHANGE FOLLOWING SETTINGS " (basically the whole part about reenabling developer options and enabling USB debugging) is unnecessary and can be deleted because you deleted the part about installing that second ROM so all that should still be enabled.
2. I'd move the link to TWRP for ODIN from the bottom to right after the first time you mention TWRP (the line that starts with: While phone is still on the Bootloader" or "download mode, connect....)
3. What I meant in my previous reply was that I think flashing PF4 wiped TWRP, so in order to reboot to TWRP right after you install PF4, you need the user to reinstall TWRP from ODIN (right before/after this line: NOW FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM “If You Already Have...)

Made those changes as well. If I remember correctly, I did not need to reflash TWRP after PF4 installation as it was flashed through the TWRP. Thanks
Great thread!
If I unlock the bootloader, do I still need to flash a new kernel from pb1 lollipop to a marshmallow kernel if I want to flash a marshmallow based rom on there? Particularly CM 13.
Nice!
If I want to flash cyanogen mod 13 do I do it after I flash the bootloader unlock & twrp, or do I have to flash SafeStrap_PB1_Bootloader_Unlock_AIO.zip first?
Thanks for this thread, OP.
I know a ton of work went into the methods explained in the threads used to create this newbie guide, but it can be difficult to follow those information dense threads for those of us who only get into rooting and flashing every couple of years with a new phone.
Sucks that Google and Verizon are making this more difficult. I fondly recall one click rooting!
They lock down the phones and load up the bloatware and if you aren't tech savvy enough to get around their locks (or just tech savvy enough to be able to follow an XDA how to thread), then you're almost forced into buying a 32gb phone so that you don't run out of memory when you start installing apps you actually want rather than the bloatware they prepackage.
I am blown away by how much bloatware has been removed from this debloated PF4.
Trying real hard

Hi Guys, Well after much trying I have my phone rooted and the bootloader unlocked. Do I have to load the PF4 or can I continue to use it as it is. Or may I use a debloated PB1 rom? Thanks

You can use it as is.
But since you did all this work, might as well upgrade to Marshmallow.

I'm not sure on exactly what you can flash. I followed this newbie guide and it worked fine. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
As for loosing your work, if you followed the guide to unlocking the bootloader, you now have TWRP recovery. So make a backup, and store it on the microSD, or even safer yet, copy it from the microSD to another drive. If you screw things up, just use TWRP to restore the backup. Even if accidentally wipe the microSD, you'll still have that backup preserved off the phone.
Well, I had the (joy) of working on my mom's S5 VZW today. It was only running KK, so I got it rooted and bootloader unlocked OK,installed TWRP fine, but I tried flashing CM 14.1 (I had the 12/24 nightly downloaded before the servers all shutdown) and after 20 minutes it still wasn't getting past the CM logo. I'm used to these things taking a while, but 20 minutes is way too long. I'm currently downloading the PJ2 Stock Rooted Debloated rom to try from TWRP instead, since I can't download CM13 thanks to the whole CM/Lineage split.
For what it's worth, in the directions above, after flashing G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip, I did have to reflash TWRP with Odin (someone else mentioned this, too). The directions at that step were unclear; did I need to let that boot all the way up, and if so, how long should I wait, since this is a Deodexed ROM I know it could take like 15 minutes, but it still wasn't booting after 20. So I just did a battery pull, reflashed TWRP, and proceeded to install the remaining zips as instructed.
While in TWRP, I can't make a backup to the external SD card; maybe it's mounted read-only? I can backup to the internal sdcard, which is OK if I ever get it booted up to any OS where I can use a file manager or transfer to PC.
Still, these directions were very helpful, hoping I can get this thing running in the next hour or so... I have to leave tomorrow!
Not sure if @mms2020 is still reading this, but in the SamsungUnlocker app, it seems that "Yes" is case sensitive. When I typed 'yes', the phone immediately powered off and subsequent reboot into bootloader does NOT show mode Developer and Odin flashing of TWRP 3.0.0 fails. I repeated and typed "Yes", then app generates a few more lines on screen, then phone powers down. Now bootloader shows mode Developer and Odin flashing of TWRP 3.0.0 succeeds.
Thanks for the guide it was actually quite straight forward to follow. I have a ok3 verizon s5 rooted w/ twrp installed and bootloader unlocked. Having never dealt with verizon or samsung phones before. What do I have to do to upgrade to a nougat CM14 rom? (i'm mainly concerned with connectivity issues). Since twrp is installed can I just install a cm14 image? (full wipe and all).
Thanks for the guide! :good:
I'm on lollipop, rooted, unlocked bootloader, I want to upgrade to marshmallow and keep twrp, so I don't need to install safestrap do I?

I followed the steps a few days ago, it went perfectly. The root, the bootloader unlock, and the Marshmallow upgrade was all so easy! Nothing like my Note 4. I had to do all the work for that phone. This phone has it easy. It's all done for the users already. All I needed was a computer, with adb, common sense, and the ability to read lol. Anyways I'm on the Nemesis N7 international port and my phone is flying on this rom!! Couldn't be happier with my Now.... what....3 year old S5!

Samsung Knox Q

If samsung knox is tripped. But reverting back to stock firmware wil features such as andoird pay and samsung updates still be disabled as a result of knox tripped? or this only an issue on custom fw.
If the "KNOX WARRANTY VOID" has been tripped to 1, there is NO way to use Android Pay or Samsung Pay anymore on tripped device.

Yes, reverting back to stock fw will make it possible to get samsung updates and to use apps that doesn't work with root. Knox tripped won't effect anything except samsung pay or android pay and you loose your warranty (you won't be able to repair your phone in an official Samsung store) However you can still have a custom fw and use apps wich do not run on rooted devices, you can google methods on how to You can also get updates to the newest firmware if the development of the rom of your choice is still active

Installing a recovey is very useful so you can install custom roms and root your phone. Here are my instructions :
Unlock developer options in settings, go into about device and software info, tap on you buildnumber 7 times. Go into developer options and switch it on. Find USB debugging and switch it on.
You need to download ODIN and install it to your computer http://www.droidviews.com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/ download the latest version of odin
You also need to download samsung usbdrivers http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-G920AZKFATT go down to downloads and click install exe and accept. When the download is finished install the usbdrivers.
Custom recovery http://arter97.com/browse/exynos7420/recovery/twrp/g920fi/ download the tar file and NOT a zipfile to your computer.
1. Switch your phone off
2. Press and hold down volume down + home button + power button at the same time.
3. Release the buttons when the warning comes up and press volume up.
4. Open ODIN and plug in your phone to your computer via an USB cable.
5. When ODIN has recognized your phone just click on AP and browse untill you find the recovery tar file you have downloaded.
6. Click on start. Let ODIN do it's job.
7. Your phone might boot into recovery or just restart itself and if it boots into recovery tap on Reboot and tap System.
Now you have a custom recovery installed and to boot into recovery switch off your phone. Press and hold down volume up + home button + power button at the same time until the samsung logo pops up and in the top left corner it will say in red "warning recovery not enforcing"
On xda you can find many different roms for galaxy s6 and hopefully you can find one that suits you. Follow the devolopers instructions on how to install them.
If you just want to root your phone download Super SU https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115.zip
Boot into recovery and tap Install. Browse the file SuperSU-v2.78, it's probably in the Download folder. Tap the file and flash it. When it's done wipe dalvik and cache and reboot.
You won't loose any data when you do all this if everything goes smoothly. Good luck!

Chainfire root method

Hi, I've tried a few tutorials on this forum on how to root the Samsung Galaxy S7 G930f.
After flashing the chainfire autoroot file my device stays stuck on the Samsung logo I've waited over 1 hour for the device to boot but it does not.
My question is can anyone explain what I could be doing wrong my device is on stock nougat I did root successfully with magisk a couple of months back but was not happy with having to format my data.
I also prefer chainfire SuperSu. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I also had the same problem. So, I did the old fashioned way.
1. Download TWRP.tar from here: https://dl.twrp.me/herolte/
2. Download the latest stable SuperSU zip. If you want the link: Here ya go
2. Instead of flashing the CFAutoroot file, open Odin, click on AP and select the TWRP that you downloaded.
3. Once it flashes successfully, power off the phone, then Press and hold Volume Up+Home+Power Button to get into the recovery.
4. Copy the SuperSU and flash it and Viola! You got SuperSU!
You probably knew steps 3,4 but I wrote them just in case
hi may I know if you reformat your data after step 4?

Well, yeah. I always start with a clean slate. Just a habit i picked up when i had a OnePlus One. You should be fine without a format though...Cause you're just rooting, not flashing a whole new ROM.
Thanks for helping me out, unfortunately after flashing twrp and booting into twrp recovery the default android recovery loads up.
I will continue searching for a method that does work. If you know anything else I could try please let me know.

That's weird, I just flashed stock firmware and TWRP a few mins ago and it worked fine for me. I hope you used the .tar and not the .img and the Odin that comes with CF Auto Root, not the one you use to flash the whole stock firmware.
I did use the .tar and have also tried with Odin that comes with cf autoroot.
Unfortunately I still get the same result flash of twrp is successful when I boot into recovery I get the android installing update with dead android then it just goes into to stock recovery.
I will try a few more times if no success I'll try with a fresh install of stock firmware.
Thanks for the help though appreciate it.
I decided to try again and succeeded but still had to format data to get the phone to boot. I made a full backup on my laptop before proceeding I did the following steps to successfully root.
I am in no way responsible for any lost data or bricked devices please note if you follow this tutorial you will trip knox and your warranty will be void.
1. MAKE A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE CAN'T BE STRESSED ENOUGH
2. Flash the latest SM-G920F firmware with odin.
3. Setup device let it check for software updates, install the update if available (I had an update)
4. Download latest twrp recovery in .tar format for the SM-G920F from twrp website
5. Download the latest stable version of SuperSU.zip
6. Download Samsung Antiroot Removal Kit
7. Transfer the files to your SM-G920F sd card
8. Power off your SM-G920F and enter download mode by holding the volume down + home button + power button read the warning press up to allow custom flashing.
9. Open Odin I used Odin v3.12.3 tap the AP button locate the custom recovery and flash it's done be ready to enter twrp recovery as the device will boot quickly, as soon as it powers off to reboot hold the volume up + home button + power button if timed correctly you shall enter twrp recovery.
10. Locate the SuperSU.zip install it but don't reboot
11. Locate the Samsung Antiroot Removal Kit and install it
12. Go back in twrp go to the format option and select format data once formatted reboot the device.

how did you backup your files on step 1 if your not rooted?
This is how I backed up my phone it's a bit tedious could have been done quicker.
First I removed my memory card from the phone. I then connected my phone in MTP mode to my laptop I dragged the folder of the files I needed to my laptop.
I then used MobileGo to export .apk files of the apps I wanted. I then exported the photos and videos I wanted to keep.
I did a WhatsApp backup copied the folder to my laptop.
I then made accounts on all games that I wanted to keep my progress on using Facebook and Google Play. Some games allows signing up with email address.
I used Mcbackup to backup all my contacts and e mailed them to myself.
I know that I could have used Google Drive or Samsung Cloud for some of the tasks but I prefer backing up this way.

9. In Odin BL slot choose BL_OREO_STOCK_G93*.tar for Oreo or BL_RESET_DM_VERITY_G93*.tar for Nougat and flash
10. This is important as soon as odin is done flashing and phone powers off immediately hold buttons to force phone to recovery
11. When phone reboots to recovery you will get no command error then when phone shows recovery options in black box at very botton it should say Successfully verified. If it says unsuccessful or failed then start at number 5 again. If successful and on oreo you are done.
12. If on Nougat and successful from recovery reboot to bootloader in Odin BL slot flash BL_NOUGAT_STOCK_G93*.tar
To Reroot Your Phone
1. Reboot to download in Odin AP slot flash AP_ROOT_G93***.tar
2. Phone will reboot then will reboot one more time and you will be rerooted
To Enter TWRP When Rooted
Remember with Nougat TWRP cannot mount data because of encryption so some zips wont work
1. Manually reboot phone to recovery launch Setup.exe in the S7_S7E_ROOT_UNROOT_ADB_TOOLS folder and choose Option(1) Launch TWRP
2. To Exit TWRP simply choose reboot
To Enter TWRP When Unrooted
Remember with Nougat TWRP cannot mount data because of encryption so some zips wont work
1. Put phone in download mode In Odin AP slot flash AP_ROOT_G93***.tar force phone to reboot to recovery. If you let phone boot it will reroot and you will have to run the unroot from the root control app.
2. In recovery launch Setup.exe in the S7_S7E_ROOT_UNROOT_ADB_TOOLS folder and choose Option(1) Launch TWRP.
3. Do whatever you need too do
4. To exit Twrp choose reboot to Download
5. In Odin BL slot choose the BL_G93*_DELETE_CACHE.tar and flash phone will reboot to recovery and say processing update then get an error and strart rebooting recovery
6. Let recovery bootloop at least once thin force phone back to download mode
7. In Odin AP slot flash BL_ENTER_ENG_RECOVERY_G930.tar and flash phone will reboot to recovery with a bunch of red cache errors
8. In recovery choose wipe cache then reboot back to bootloader from recovery

12. If on Nougat and successful from recovery reboot to bootloader in Odin BL slot flash BL_NOUGAT_STOCK_G93*.tar
Beware If you update V9 or higher bootloader then rooting and everything will not work. You will be stuck on stock possibly for good
Works perfect and love having TWRP just for everyone else DO NOT use the 1st link it will download the G935V firmware which will not flash for the S7 flat.
Brother, you might want to check your zips. Your sm_g930_oreo root/unroot zip is missing the BL_ENTER_ENG_RECOVERY_G93*.tar and instead has BL_ENG_BOOTLOADERS_G930?? Also, your S7_G930V Flat Odin Firmware links to the G935V firmware and will not flash obviously to the S7 flat. Kinda important files if you want to use this. I was going to try to unroot and update to the Oct security patch and thank God I checked the required files before starting.
Sorry, stupid question I can't find an answer to. How do I tell what bootloader I am on?

what does post 2 say. If you dont want to be stuck on stock then you are done with updates the firmware in the OP is it that the last firmware that can be rooted
Yeah I know and saw that the 5th character had the 8 so it is a secure bootloader. Trust me, I went back and forth about root and no root. I decided that what little bit I was rooting for wasnt worth the hit I took as far as speed, heat, and battery. So far I am enjoying stock with the Oct security patch. If I get root in the future I may try it but for now I can run my themes and life is good, thanks brother.

Don’t get your expectations up it still uses the engboot for root. I just made it easy to unroot so you can use stock boot. Img

Oh okay. I will have to do some reading on Eng Boot. I'm not educated on what that exactly means. I did successfully use your root method and got to play in twrp which was really cool. I really like the adb tools setup. I'm having a hard time with the debloating. I'm trying to find out what files to remove and keep. The system is very slow rooted. I hope I'm not debloating wrong. Sorry I'm semi new at this.
Just be careful what you debloat. What I would do is go into settings/apps and disable anything you think is bloat then see if the phone runs differently for a day or so. Somethings you think wouldn't affect the running of the system do. That way if it does affect something you can go back in and enable it.

I went ahead and used stock files in Odin to flash everything back to normal. I went ahead and tried the disable method with it unrooted of course. It is running so smooth now. On top of it all the Samsung apps work which I like.
I learned yesterday after all day battling the rooted way deleting bloat that you are correct. There are issues from deleting things that you think would never cause issues. My phone instantly would lock up and the battery was draining super fast. It was not worth it.
I will take your advice. Thank you!!

So what kinds of things would I be able to do with root that wouldn't get changed back once I unroot?

That is good advice. I used the 'pm uninstall' method to debloat tons of Samsung stuff. Now I occasionally get random battery drains. Time to factory reset. I should have just left it, because my wife has an international Exynos S7 with nothing debloated, and it runs perfect.

Basic guide to Installing TWRP, Root and ROM via ODIN on S7 amd S7 edge

Hey everyone.
I have recently rooted and installed the Pixel experience 9 custom ROM on my S7 edge.
Even though I am confident in Installing ROMs and using TWRP I always like to have a check on the net to see the best way of doing stuff. When checking I found that there were so many different guides that the process became more confusing than it needed to be and it caused issues when I was trying install the ROM.
So I have decided to write out a guide to help everyone in the future.
Note. I am in UK using a Exynos version of the S7 edge. I believe there is a complication with the USA Snapdragon version.
Also this is done at your own risk and I am not responsible for any damage, errors or bricked devices. This will also void the warranty of your device.
What will you need
1. A computer with a SD card slot (if you don't have a slot you can usb a usb adaptor)
2. The latest version of ODIN
3. Your chosen ROM zip
4. Magisk Root zip
5. The correct TWRP file for your S7 or S7 edge
6.The latest version of your Stock firmware (this is in case something goes wrong)
7. A spare micro SD card with SD card adaptor
8. Micro USB cable (charging cable usually does the job)
9. Samsung Device drivers
This guide will be split in to 4 parts with some additional notes at the end.
Part 1- on your PC
Part 2- on your mobile
Part 3- In ODIN mode
Part 4- In TWRP
On your PC
1. Download and install the latest version of ODIN to your PC. https://samsungodin.com/
2. Download and install the Samsung Device drivers.
3. Download the correct TWRP version for your phone. https://twrp.me/
4. Now Download your root file, I used to Magisk root but there is super SU as well. I was told that Super SU is dated compared to Magisk.
https://www.xda-developers.com/magisk-v17-1-android-pie-a-b-support/
5. Now download your chosen ROM. There is lots of different ROMs for the S7 and S7 edge. In my case I decided to go with Pixel experience 9, it's basically a Pixel 3 ROM that runs Android P but it's up to you.
6. Go to Sammobile and download the stock Firmware for your device. The download takes ages so I would just leave this download in the background and continue to the next step (You shouldn't need this file but you will need it something goes wrong)
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
7. Put your micro SD into your adaptor then insert into your PC into your SD card slot, then copy the ROM Download and the Root download SD card to the card.
8. Open ODIN and put the TWRP file on the AP section, then uncheck re-partition.
On Your Phone.
1. Before plugging up to the PC there are something to do first. The first thing to do is enter developer options by taping build number 7 times. Then check USB debugging and then check OEM unlocking.
2. Back up your data with Samsung backup and Google backup, both found in the settings.
3. If you already have a SD card inside your phone remove it and put it somewhere safe.
4. Power off your device and Boot in to ODIN mode (volume down, home button and power at the sametime)
In ODIN mode (READ THIS CAREFULLY)
1. BEFORE pressing start on your computer, hold volume up and home button.
2. Now press start on the computer, keep your fingers on the volume button up button and home button. Let the PC and Phone start it's process.
3. The moment the phone screen goes black. Press and hold the power but while keeping your fingers on the volume up and home button.
4. Keep all the buttons held down (volume up, home button and power button) till you see the TWRP screen boot.
In TWRP.
1. Once TWRP boots you will see a screen it will say "swipe to allow modifications" DON'T swipe just press "read only"
2. Press wipe and then press format data. Once the wipe is complete DO NOT swipe to reboot. (You will get yourself stuck in a boot loop) press the TWRP home icon instead.
3. Press Reboot then press recovery this will complete the installation of TWRP (if you press anything else you will get stuck in a boot loop)
4. Allow TWRP to reboot. You will be presented with the "swipe allow modifications" check the do not show again box and swipe.
5. Now insert your Micro SD card with the downloaded files.
6. Press wipe, then press advanced and check cashe and
dalvik cashe. Then Press TWRP Home icon
7. Press install and navigate to SD card. Then press the on the Magisk file and swipe, allow the process to finish and press wipe cache and Dalvik cashe.
8. Press TWRP home icon and press install and navigate back to SD card. Then press your ROM file and swipe again. Once it's finished press wipe cashe and Dalvik cashe. Then swipe to reboot.
9. Re-insert your memo card you were using before. (Not the one with the downloads on, the one with your photos and music and stuff)
10. BOOM your done. Happy days with your new ROM.
Few last things
the ROM I installed had G-apps preinstalled with the ROM, but if your ROM has no G-apps then once you booted, download G-apps from your ROMs browser and flash them with TWRP.
If you get stuck in a boot loop use your stock firmware file and Odin to reinstall the stock firmware and try the whole process again.
This method uses SD card to install the files in TWRP but I believe you can just copy the files via your PC directly to your phone at point 5 in the TWRP part of the guide. I had a spare card so I used a card.
The principal of this guide can be applied to other Samsung devices but newer device then the S7 and S7 edge have more factors to take note of, so some research will be required.
Remember
this is done at your own risk and I am not responsible for any damage, errors or bricked devices. This will also void the warranty of your device.
Hope this guide works well for you.

I don't think this was a big issue with S7E but I know the S8 and onwards have extra encryption protection and 24 hour jailbait locks.
I have rooted my S7E a few times and it's never been an issue for me.
Sometimes the USA Snapdragon versions have extra encryption as well.
Thanks for reply.
In a few days I will try to root.
Fingers Crossed!
( I do have the Exynos S7 Edge G935F)
Also have a newer stock Oreo 8.0.0, unrooted. Thats the part I hear is giving people problems. Something about after flashing TWRP you get a fail to mount the data partition .... or something like that. Something to do with quotas
Heimdell vs odin
I wonder why most people use odin.
The official lineage OS installation instruction recommends heimdell. https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/hero2lte/install
So what is the difference ? Heimdell vs odin

ODIN is made by Samsung developers and Hiemdell is a 3rd party option. They both do the same thing but some say that Heimdell is safer, easier and faster.
Personally I use Odin because I have got used to it and it has never let me down.
I mostly use it to install Stock UK firmware on cheaper Samsung phones that are from overseas.
Hello,
Thanks for your guide but I think there are too much steps, you can do it easier.
You can keep your sd card in the phone to transfer the ROM and magisk.
You can uncheck reboot in Odin instead doing this hard combination of "keep pressing volume up and power + press start on your computer at the same time", or let reboot checked, pressing start and keep pressing power+home+volume up when the screen turning off.
Even if you're in a bootloop, you can go back in recovery by forcing the phone to reboot (power+home+volume down) and when you see the Samsung logo (splahscreen) you keep pressing power+home+volume up until you see twrp screen appears.
Sorry men, it's not against you or your guide but to help beginners, we are always scared when we see a long and complicate list of steps, especially when we don't know.
But it's nice to share the links of the necessary tools to avoid searching everywhere :good:
And don't worry guys, if you do something wrong you can easily restore the stock firmware, it's very hard to brick a Samsung device, just be sure to get the last version of TWRP for the good model and the ROM corresponding to this model too.
I flashed my S7Edge the day I bought it without stress, take your time, read the tutorials and try to understand what you are going to do before doing it and all will be fine.
The simple version (IDK if it's better) is :
1 : Install Samsung drivers
2 : Copy ROM + magisk + noverity zips on sdcard
3 : Go into download mode (Power off phone and keep pressing power+home+volume down until the blue screen and follow the steps on the screen)
4 : Open Odin (last version), connect your phone to the computer, uncheck reboot box and flash TWRP on AP case
5 : Reboot on TWRP (keep pressing power+home+volume down until you see Samsung logo, and directly keep pressing power+home+volume up until you see TWRP screen)
6 : Wipe everything except sdcard + format data + (optionally) flash noverity zip
7 : Flash the ROM
8 : Reboot to system, configure the rom and wait some minutes to let the ROM create dalvik cache.
9 : Reboot normally and wait some minutes.
10 : Reboot to TWRP
11 : Flash Magisk zip (IMPORTANT ! Don't Flash Magisk just after the ROM, first boot on the ROM without root and reboot one time at least before to avoid lags in the system due to dalvik cache ! Steps 7 and 8)
12 : Reboot to system and install magisk manager apk
13 : I'm not superstitious but there is not step 13, you are done, enjoy !
Don't forget, don't flash Magisk directly after the ROM or you'll get a laggy ROM.
Just boot without flashing magisk and let the ROM doing his work in background during some minutes (5 to 10 minutes should be good), and do another reboot.
After that you can flash Magisk.

Cheers for helping my out, my guide has a lot of steps as I literally wrote what I did every step.
I was going for a guide that spelt out every single detail for the less experienced people. I glad to see you approve of my links.
Great guide though, great that both guides can complement each others.

You can use this method for Snapdragon, but Snapdragon phones in certain regions have a built jailbreak that can complicate things. There are ways around it but as I am in a region that sell exynos then i have no experience with the Snapdragon Variant. ?

sorry but know i lost twrp what am i doing wrong SM-G935F s7edge
is anyone going to help me or u just like the other sites dont reply i need this info asap its only reason i rooted was to use custom rom oh also turmux
Hey
Sorry I have been busy.
Best option is to flash the firmware and start again. Follow the steps of original comment.
Remember when you boot in to TWRP straight after installing it...then wipe all your data then press reboot and reboot back into RECOVERY....once your done this you have completed the install of TWRP.
Once that is all done....wipe your cashe davalik data and then insert your memory card with the custom Rom and Magisk root inside. Install Magisk first...then the ROM.
Once this is done wipe cashe/davalik data once more and reboot, your custom ROM should load up...once the ROM loads install the Magisk root manager and latest update for the root.
Other things to check have you installed the correct TWRP and correct custom Rom for your device.
Also check your customs ROM feed on XDA to see if anyone has issued like this on there as well, if so there might be specific answer to your issue there.
Hope this helps sorry for the delay
How can you switch back to root version of rom for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
You can install original ROM / firmware of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge follow these simple steps :
1. Download and install the latest SamsungOdin 3 software
2. Now download ROM of S7 edge from sammobile.com .
3. Switch off your phone and connect your phone with PC using data cable.
4. Press Power+Vol down and home key together.

8. Wait to complete installation it may take 10 - 15 minutes.
9. Enjoy!

Hello,
Thanks for your guide but I think there are too much steps, you can do it easier.

Your certainly not wrong there. confusing isn't the word I would choose more like frustrating to hell. I'm new to this and I can't even get out the starting gate lol every time I move one step forward I move two steps back and that's no joke.
I can't read any more tutorials there coming out my ears it's just adding to the confusion I'm completely lost now. can't even pick a custom rom that's a headache for another time I was just wanting to root the phone but was told stock roms are temperamental and custom roms was the way forward. all I keep reading is tutorials telling you to down load files but never a mentioning once if they should be in zip format as downloaded or unpacked? then providing links to other files taht are in apk file! like Magisk. but continue to about the file as though it were a zip! as noob it's frustrating to keep asking for help and every key stroke at least for me anyway you feel like a pain in the rear! so for now I'm throwing in the towel at least I know one thing that works. giving up lol.
