Hello xda community i'm planning to buy an s7 but since it cost a lot i've an important question for you...if my device is stolen the chance that i will get the phone back is high or low? I mean...would the police help me to track my phone or they will only call my carrier to blacklist the IMEI

That's a very hard question to answer, as we have no idea how your local police will handle it. If its locked with fingerprint, pattern etc, the thief won't be able to turn it off so that means that it will stay on for a couple hours and you will be able to track it. Then I guess you can call the police, but I would advice you to not go without the police as you might get in more trouble.
If you cant locate it, your carrier will blacklist it.

Hmmm I was wrong, unfortunately you can turn it off even when the screen is locked. My bad.
I don't know if you can locate your phone when its turned off.

No,you can't the only way to locate it is with samsung and/or google account but unfortunately with factory reset it will be wiped off, i know that there is Frp (Factory Reset Protection) to prevent the account from being deleted but there are bypass that make it useless because even if they get patched an expert thief could downgrade the firmware with odin and a firmware from sammobile...so the only ways to are:
1)the thief is not an expert
2)the police or carrier track the phone using imei number...
Since the first possibility not always happen,what i was asking for is if the police or carrier will spend time on tracking my phone or not

Wouldn't it be better to ask the police and your carrier, rather than a forum who can't speak for either party?
Seems a strange thing to be thinking about before even buying it, do you get a lot of things stolen from you regularly?

It is but you do have to answer a few security questions, and prove you are the owner.
This is where 2 step verification comes into play...
Not so easy to get it reset if you aren't the owner...

Certainly, not easy, but not impossible... use YouTube, really helpful

latest security patch update makes it currently impossible to bypass FRP on the s8+ and you cant even downgrade to marshmallow to do it. they are getting closer to apples icloud...

I have the same but unfortunately I forgot every things which account. I need help to contact google to reset it because I have the invoice and I bought the device from operator in my company.

There's lots of ways around frp. Just Google it I wouldn't waste my time coming to xda for help, everybody here just accuses you of being a thief and shuts down the thread. In a world where everything requires an account, password etc etc a guy can simply forget what goes where. Simple as that

You can try these steps. However, it is not guaranteed it will work

if you have a stolen phone or have been scammed recently, nobody will help you commit voluntary criminal work. contact Google corporation headquarters. or you can contact their tech support facility. the company should help you out.

This is how it works a new user is not going to come on XDA and get help with this issue easily no reputation no one knows you.
Now say I for example I have 3500 posts Am known to visit police auctions in mobile devices. Legally I own the stolen device I have government paperwork proving this. whatever carrier by law has to unblacklist any device I have the paper work for.....
But google frp locks are a little different Get ahold of google if its that important. If you prove you legally own the device for a fee around 200$ american google will reflash them or whatever it is they do and unlock it but you have to send it to google...
Never have done it myself as stated I have legal binding sales slips states I own the device legally no matter the past history......
I wouldnt even bother as most methods you find are rapidly patched.
Its not against XDA to post Frp bypas, But as such this is a new device you should know your password or return it where ever you bought it from or get them to unlock. or contact google with proper paperwork.......
If you cant do these listed options to bypass then there is something else bigger at hand hence no help will be given....

I recently received a second hand Google Pixel. It was running selfish N2G470 Sailfish 7.1.2. Upon further inspection I realized it was also OEM from Google. Once I purchased a Type-C charger to see if the phone even worked, I quickly realized it had the FRP locking activated and no way into the phone.. After days of Dead End video's, Out Dated Guides, and pointless APK files, I continued searching for a solution. A few days later, while shopping on EBay, I ran across a remote FRP service that said they would remote in using Team Viewer and have it completed within 1 hour after making initial contact with me after the purchase. I was skeptal. But the money was protected through PayPal and it was only $10.00. Soon after, I am contacted, remotely assisted, and step by step guide on the pixel itself and 15 min later, through the FRP Lock. I should have taken better instructions when he was telling me over video chat but, he left the version of platform tools on my pc, as well as his custom apk files and image's (it updated to 8.0 after frp bybass) Anyone interested in the files he left behind on my computer that he download from his server let me know. He used fastboot and adb. Let me know. If you know what your doing, it might help. I can kinda help guide you through the steps on the phone, my girl took a few notes on paper as well. I wanted to get this info out now, but I will come back soon with an updated tutorial. :good:

Where does one receive a second hand Pixel? If it was a hand-me-down couldn't you just ask the user to log in and remove their account from the device? Even if you bought it from a stranger they could have given you their Google password and then immediately changed it after you removed the account yourself. And just for curiosity, how much does a second hand Pixel cost?

it would probably help some people, yes.
If you post them, perhaps try posting them to a few different file sharing places; ie MEGA, rapidshare, etc so they can be shared for a while without being taken down.

im on pixel 32gb, sailfish 7.1.2 with 5th august 2017 patch, im unable to side load or get past anything with the guides on here or online, either due to bad apks or just wrong instructions, keep hitting brick walls and the guides and videos are little to no help, if u would please share these files, it would be great help , if u cant post a link, could u pm me plz ? thanks a ton!!!

Well, the phone was givin to me by an old boss that could no longer afford to pay my hourly, under the table wage. I'm not sure where he received it from. Second hand cost? Well he owed me 75 bucks for a few hours of unloading & loading box trucks, so $75 bucks I guess...

You're joking right? An old boss.. under the table.. not sure where it came from.. 75 bucks.. come on.. this is a 700 dollar phone. Where did it really come from? You should know before you use it. Otherwise throw it out. It's not worth the bad karma. Just my opinion.

Still not worth it. Do you think it's legit? Honestly. Throw it out. You'll feel a whole lot better in the long run. Anyone that needs to frp bypass is asking for trouble in the scheme of things.. but that's just me and my silly moral values. Take it for what it's worth. Good luck to you.

Doesn't matter if you sold the phone. Anything under the table is implied as is. No amount of money is worth your own person security. You should never under any circumstance tell anyone any of your passwords ever for any reason whatsoever
Edit: the right thing to do of course would be to remove accounts before frp or to be on-site when they set up their phone but not everyone even knows about frp and even less of the general public will know how to actually remove accounts

Under the table? What exactly does that mean? Illegal? You either delete your emails and change your pwd or pay the price. Let's not get crazy here. It's just an email password for perhaps 2 minutes to make some money that is "under the table". If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

No I'm not saying illegal I'm saying any direct transaction from one person to another like anything not done through an actual retailer. And no you really shouldn't be giving out passwords at all for any reason. Having that information for 2 minutes can create a window for someone to figure out your typical password structure or cross reference a fair bit of information that could lead to access to a lot more than what was intended. Again I'm not saying that not properly wiping the device so someone else can use it is okay, but I am saying it is not the responsibility of the seller to give you any passwords or personally identifiable information. It is also the responsibility of the buyer to know and ask about potential frp situations or at least understand the implied "as is" condition when buying really anything directly off of someone else.

You make a good point. Although I still think the seller has the responsibility to sell the device so it can be used by the buyer. That seems to be implied by selling it. Almost like I'm selling you my car but.. well sorry dude .. you can't have the keys. Not my problem but yours since the car is in your driveway.

Well selling a car is kinda different and has actual legal restrictions to prevent that such as title transfers etc

Death of a loved one. S8+ unlock

We lost a family member to suicide recently. We have had a lot of questions and we feel there are lots of critical answers in the phone. The phone is locked via finger print and passcode. Is there any way to unlock this phone? The family is looking for some closure.

There are many guide on bypassing these already

I find a lot of software to do this, the problem is i am not sure which one is legit.

You can try to unlock it using the google account used with the phone! Or you can try to contact samsung via email or to go with the phone over a samsung Service Center and i think that they will help you with the problem! Hope that it helps you!

Actually Google has a program where if a loved one is passed, you can send them death cert. and they will give you access to their account.

That is correct I forgot about this As I purchase devices from auctions I have had to supply auction paper work for new proof of ownership for black list and google bypass from google for a fee of coarse

Know what, you could take a copy of the death certificate to the phone company and explain the situation. I'd bet they have a manner to get into the phone, rather easily.

I had to supply my mothers When I was on her sprint account And they ended up forgiving the bill and cancelling out the contract on my LG G2 Mine clean and clear And I got to keep my number and all New fresh account

Bootloader code reader

Hi folks,
So like many I am in the boat of wondering what Huawei's current future is and not wanting to wait around for any more bad news.
I have searched hi and low for a service that is actively providing bootloader unlock codes and have spoken to each and every one of them that I could find and all I have found are dead ends.
Logically speaking, these codes were being made/generated one of two ways.
1st - Someone who worked for Huawei was providing them and making money doing so.
2nd - There is indeed a way to generate them, with the right information.
The second seems to be the most logical answer truthfully, otherwise I could e-mail support and bribe someone lol. Anyways I refined my search to looking for bootloader code readers.

( had to put weird spacing so that link would post, remove the spaces.)
Now if links are not allowed in here, then it is the Octoplus dongle that claims to be able to read bootloader codes for any Huawei device.

I wouldn't be so optimistic about it. Maybe some offer it but i can bet that the vast majority of authorised service centers will refuse to help.

As an update!
I spoke with several authorized Huawei Service centers and they said no they cannot specifically because they were authorized by Huawei to repair phones and that they could not alter the phone in that way.
With that being said, I spoke to someone who was on the level about unlocking the bootloader, and he recommended I call a place locally.
Spoke with their software guy and he said yes they can do it. I am going in to try and will update once I find out if he is for real or not.

Bootloader unlocking from Huawei will not happen again unless they get hit financially, which so long as people keep buying locked down devices simply won't happen..couple that with the bans in place and honestly I can't see it..
As with the bootloader code cracking. I'd say it's possible but you probably need a key which generates it, not sure if they'll ever be available..
The vast majority of p20 pro owners have either accepted it or moved on.
Shame as it's not a bad device.

Basically lol, or they are hoping that the ban will fall through and things will calm down.
I will update once I find out if this guy really can do it.
Other perk may be that if Huawei releases their own OS, they may unlock the bootloader, in theory it would require to.

Well that was my question. I emailed them and have not heard back yet.

Something like that

It looks like the Octoplus Huawei Tool can't read bootloader code. I have checked https://octopusbox.com/eng/features/models but the CLT-series only support reset FRP lock. You can see this by hovering your mouse over (or tapping) the model.

Hope people do not rush into buying this device before doing a bit of research...

Oh my god, such a suspense... Did you manage to get the unlock code ?
I am so desperate to find it. Hoped DC unlock client would manage to do so
but it failed pathetically.

Unfortunately for P20 Pro only "Reset FRP" feature is supported.
