My screen is no longer working. Initially a sliver of the very top right corner worked, and I was able to cast to my tv and start backing up some things but casting stopped. Now even that corner is out. The touch part of the screen works, just not the display so I don't know what I am clicking.
Anyone have any ideas?
I tried a USB-C to HDMI adapter, but that did not work.
I apparently do not have USB Debugging flipped on

Hi
I got a ASUS transformer TF300 yesterday extremely cheap  however becuase the touchscreen has a full length crack from the top to the bottom.
This seems to have cuased the digitizer panel to fail completely except that it was cuasing random clicking and movement so i have pulled it apart and disconnected the digitizer panel. the unexpected side effect now is the mouse/trackpad no longer clicks properly. (I tested before unplugging and the mouse clicked properly before)
We cant click on anything or interface at all using the mouse, i have even plugged in a USB mouse and nada. I think this must have something to do with the Kernel freaking out that theres no touchscreen talking to it
Does anyone have any ideas about how to at least get the HID stuff working properly with the digitizer unplugged ?
I know how to mess with rooting/recovery modifying system files and whatnot so anything involving advanced mods i can handle just fine, i just need some advice on where to look.
So I bought a standard issue MHL cable for me One X and I hooked it up last night to an HDTV when I got home from work. Worked just fine, zero issues with it.
Wake up this morning and I try the same thing, I just plug my phone is to the same connection set up I had going on last night and now my phone decides it doesn't want to output over MHL...
You hook it up and red notification light comes on, so I know there's power coming through it at least, The screen goes landscape and for a split second I get an image on the HDTV and then message comes on the phone that says "Sound Enhancer not available over HDMI connection" and goes back to portrait. If I leave it plugged in, it will do this in a loop.
I tried force closing and disabling Sound Enhancer app but no luck. Also tried different HDTV and no luck. I'd hate to think the cable's bad...
Any other ideas? or anyone else with this issue?
Running CleanROM 5.1
Problem Solved
So After letting it go for a little bit, I decided to try hooking stuff up like I did the first time. Which was: plug HDMI MHL connector into TV, Mini-USB into phone, power-USB into TV. When I was doing this the second time around, I noticed that the image came on the screen from my phone no problem. I hadn't even plugged the power USB in yet.
Simple fix, yes but it made me wonder because I had thought that the whole nature of the MHL HDMI connector was that it required an external power source (in this case the power-USB) in order to output the image. Though I guess through this little experiment, it seems its only optional if you want to charge your phone while outputting an image.
After I got the image up on the screen, I tried to hook up the power-USB into it and as soon as I did that it started erroring out with the Sound Enhancer crap.
Some kernels now offer the ability to power it without needing an external power source.
Screen just broken. I need to access photos, etc.. How can I do it? Also phone is not mine. How can I boot to recovery? And I can't shutdown the phone because I can't touch the screen.
If the screen works little in upper corner screen, try enable bluetooth and connect BT mouse... This helped me one day.... or maybe usb mouse?
If the whole screen is kaput, only way is to change LCD and screen.
I'm attempting to run a google pixel 3 without the physical screen. The phone will be used in remote management, so I have a remote management utility installed on the device as well.
Everything works flawlessly when the screen is installed - all apps and configurations work as they are intended. However, once the screen is removed, the phone doesn't work. On a pixel 3a I was able to attach just a ribbon cable for the screen without the actual screen, and when I pulled it up in airdroid, it would only display a condensed screen about 1/3 the height. On the Pixel 3 it doesn't load up at all.
I've connected the phone to my computer with USB debugging enabled. Without the screen it shows up in the devices list. But with the screen it doesn't even show up in the devices list. The only way to make the phone operational is to remove the battery cable then restart the phone. About 30% of the time it displays a message upon boot "This device failed to boot, do you want to factory reset", with an option of "yes" and "reboot" (selectable through the volume and power buttons).
Also of interesting note, if I power on the phone without the digitizer connected, I can use AirDroid just fine, but it won't register my clicks on the remote view screen. Which leads to believe the phone is registering the hardware of the screen and digitizer upon boot.
If I disconnect the digitizer and LCD after the phone is booted up, I can attach them both and it'll work. It's just when they're disconnected from the phone during the initial boot phase.
I tested this with a Galaxy S8 previously, and that phone worked just fine without the screen attached, and ran fine that way.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to "register" the hardware correctly? I'm not certain that's what's happening, but it appears to be something with the hardware not registering correctly, or something like that. What's odd, is that it doesn't work even with the ribbon cables attached. It requires the full screen to be connected to the ribbon cables.
I've searched up and down google, but there doesn't appear to be much information available on this, as it appears to be a very specific problem which not many people encounter.
Thanks!
Hey, so my phone's screen recently broke, and it was still working perfectly in Samsung DeX mode. However, I made the mistake of disabling it because something I wanted to do required normal screen mirroring. Now, when I plug the phone through HDMI, I see a padlock on the screen, which normally requires me to enter my pattern to unlock the phone and have the screen mirror normally (but the screen and seemingly touch aswell are broken).
- Samsung S20 FE
- USB Debugging is disabled, so i cant use scrcpy
- I am able to feel vibrations when using a mouse, so maybe there would be a way to enter it blindly, but the pattern is too complex for me to do that
- I don't think I have a normal PIN but I don't recall, some people said pressing space twice on a keyboard then entering it could help, no luck
- I'm was able to see the device once in sideload mode, probably through recovery mode? (screenshot below)
- I currently see the device as unauthorized (2nd screenshot)
I'm pretty much open to any way of doing this, even disabling the pin would be okay.
Thanks in advance!
Managed to fix this using a windows drawing pen, finding where the dots for the patterns are located with vibration, and mapping them on a piece of paper.
another way would be connect TV or monitor with HDMI adapter and connect usb mouse / keyboard

Click to collapse
The thing is, the pattern doesn't show on the external display.
All you see is a grey screen with a padlock and the time.
If you have a PIN though, that does work cause you just have to hit space twice, type it in then hit enter. Easy even if you can't see.
