Hello fellow Xperia users/developers,
I am trying to flash my Xperia z5 (E6653) which had its motherboard replaced yesterday. It is still in lollipop so I decided to update it to nougat. However, PC companion identifies my phone updated while its not. So I decided to flash it manually instead. I downloaded the FTF file from Xperifirm with the build no. 32.4.A.0.160 / R1E. The problem it the 0.9.23.2 version does not identify FTF files even I checked its file location properly. I searched in this forum that old versions works. I tried downloading the 0.9.18 (I think) and it really identified the FTF. However I received an error message regarding the TA thing to find out that this error might be due to only 0.9.23 versions supports nougat FTF.
So my concern is, how can I have my FTF file identified by 0.9.23? Because I can't use my phone right now. I hope someone might help me. Or give me an alternative to flashtool if there's any.
Thank you.
Redownload file ftf again with a stable connection..
Hello, what if I still dont see the ftf after redownloading?

Just wondering what version of flashtool I need to use to flash to my Z3 (I want to root after downgrading firmware) but I noticed the flashtool thread said that due to 'boot bundles' sony uses now I have to use a specific version of flashtool?
Can someone confirm which version works fine?
Cheers
I just downloaded and installed the latest Flashtool and it worked fine.
I've used the last couple versions no issue
Hi,
I bought my Z5 online and I am living in Germany, my Z5 has a spanish firmware. I would like to flash it to the customized_DE firmware, but flashtool always stops at the same location (Max packet size set to 4096K). I read somewhere else that it works when you're using an older version of flashtool, but there it stops at flasing loader.
Does anyone have the same error and found a solution?
Many thanks to all!
Use the latest flashtool available
download ftf file through xperifirm
if you are using windows 8.1, disable usb verification enforcement
change compatibility on flashtool from windows 8 to windows 7
for more, use google, and you are doing this on your own risk
Had the same problem because I was using an old version of flashtool. Ended up finding the righ place to download it on flashtool.net.
Which version are you using?
Hey guys,
I have a Z3 dual for almost 1 year, great device, only sad thing about the device is the ****ty 16gb internal storage allthough it costed me a fortune.
Everyday it is ennoying me telling I have reached 75% of it's storage capacity.
So here is the plan :
I am not interested in unlocking the bootloader , nor rooting the device, i only want to go from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 so i can use a 128gb micro sd as internal storage.
I made a backup of my files with Xperia Companion.
I downloaded Flashtool and with Xperifirm the Russion 6.0.1 update (D6633_Customized RU_1288-7362_23.5.A.0.575_R3D).
With these files I am stuck, I need to create the FTF file, but do I have to include the TA-files that are in this 6.0.1 update ? I don't want to loose my DRM keys so will the update with flashtool make me loose them or is this only possible by unlocking the bootloader ?
Can someone help me with the correct procedure to do this upgrade ?
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Acryllium
A bad news; Sony has disabled Adoptable Storage on their ROMs, so you cannot use microSD card as internal storage even if you upgraded to 6.0.1.
I know, but Sony didn't disable it, they just left it out of there ROM.
With some adjustments in ADB it would be possible.

Haa, I didn't know that we could enable it through ADB.
Well, in that case, you can just update your firmware with Xperia Companion and do a factory data reset. I think this is probably the safest and easiest way to get a clean firmware.
Or if you prefer Flashtool, just use Xperifirm from within Flashtool to download firmware, and it will automatically make FTF file for you when you closed Xperifirm.
I had tried to follow some guides that told me to manually make FTF which exclude .TA files, but whenever I did that, I ended up with corrupted FTFs and bootloop.
Nowadays, I just use FTF that Flashtool automatically makes for me, and I don't have any problem, my DRM keys are still present and active (just did a security test in Service menu (*#*#7378423#*#*) and it showed no error).
After you have an FTF file in .flashTool\firmwares folder, just flash using Flashmode, choose firmware you want (I assume 23.5.A.0.575 ?), then tick to wipe APPS_LOG and USERDATA and click Flash. Follow some on-screen instructions and you'll have a clean 6.0.1 firmware in about ~10 minutes.
Hey Rc,
Thank you for your help, but my version of Flashtool doesn't seem to generate the FTF file automaticly.
It's version 0.9.22.3, can you tell me what could be wrong ?
Thanks

Hello. Received my Xperia XZ in germany with T-Mobile branding, which i wanted to remove because i do not have t-mobile and all their apps are useless to me, secondly the lot of pink icons / flashing screens / etc. are extremely annoying. I did sucessfully unlock and tried to flash "customized DE" (latest) which always fails (downloaded via XperiFirm, deleted the .xml, packed and flashed with Flashtool).
Then i tried searching an Android 6 tft, and found the "customized CE1" which worked, but did not get the Android 7.0 update yet. But in the end, this is not what i wanted to archive as its the wrong firmware version. As far as i understood flashing Android 7.0 ftfs is currently not possible? And also sony only has latest Firmware downloadable, so no DL-Link for the 6.x Firmware for my region? Did not manage to find the correct Firmware using google.
Can anyone help me out?
Either finding the correct german Firmware ftf for 6.x or how to flashing the 7.x one.
Thanks!

Thanks, but already checked both.
Xperiafirm only finds the newest Android 7.0 Firmware - or is there a hidden "old firmwares" feature?
XperiCheck also lists only the newest Fimware.
Just figured out while writing this post, i can click on the CDA - which seems to list all "customized DE".
Only problem now: I do not have an Alfafile account, nor do i have any of the available payment options to buy me the smallest subscription to aquire this file. :/
Google also does not seem to find any result for "F8331_1305-9090_39.0.A.3.30-R4B_Customized_DE.ftf"
EDIT: That ftf file is not shown in FlashTool - possibly broken one So still no real progress.
Im wondering if anyone has tried to use Xperia Companion (XC) to install firmware other than the latest available. XC uses firmware files located in the ...UpdateEngine\localstorage\US\ folder, so i thought i could swap them with files downloaded from Xperifirm. I even renamed Android12 binary files with Android11 filenames, but appears XC is too smart for me. Trying to Repair offline doesn't work either.
I ask because im now on Android12 and would like to go back to Android11, but im having no luck. Flashtool comes up with errors, Newflasher gives me the "Your device is corrupted" warning.
I'll get there eventually, i hope.
From what I understand you'd have to do a clean install and also unlock bootloader once you go up an Android level you can go back sorry I can't help you
