Can't flash new firmware with flashtool - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought my Z5 online and I am living in Germany, my Z5 has a spanish firmware. I would like to flash it to the customized_DE firmware, but flashtool always stops at the same location (Max packet size set to 4096K). I read somewhere else that it works when you're using an older version of flashtool, but there it stops at flasing loader.
Does anyone have the same error and found a solution?
Many thanks to all!

Use the latest flashtool available
download ftf file through xperifirm
if you are using windows 8.1, disable usb verification enforcement
change compatibility on flashtool from windows 8 to windows 7
for more, use google, and you are doing this on your own risk

Had the same problem because I was using an old version of flashtool. Ended up finding the righ place to download it on flashtool.net.
Which version are you using?

[Q] Flashtool Error

Hello guys!
I Have a Xperia Z3 D6643 with TV branded from VIVO and i want to flash a customized PT firmware from the D6603 (It's the same config but without TV). I Installed the flashtool and the drivers related with the Z3 mobile from the drivers folder. I am using windows 8.1 when trying to flash i get this error:
04/013/2013 10:13:23 - INFO - Checking header
04/013/2013 10:13:23 - INFO - Ending flash session
04/013/2013 10:13:23 - ERROR -
04/013/2013 10:13:23 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted

And then stops flashing. Do anyone know what is happening and how to solve?
BTW: I correctly installed drivers by disabling the signature checker on windows.
Best regards.

I think because your device is other version. True I don't know.

I can't tell you if it's possible to flash the 6603 ROM on that.
Anyways, it might be that the ROM file you downloaded is corrupt, DL it again.
And you posted in the wrong section, this is not for questions.

XperiFirm and FlashTool Issues

I'm having a couple of issues with updating my Z5 to 6.0 via FlashTool and XperiFirm. I have FlashTool 0.9.19.8 installed and the latest XperiFirm. When I try to download a firmware (tried Customized DE, AU, HK) I get "Error: Internet connection error!" which doesn't make sense, as I have a very good reliable connection to the internet at my university. I managed to get one firmware downloaded and bundled (Customized DE), but when I attempt to flash it I get "ERROR - Can't read a byte value"
Has anyone else been able to overcome these issues?
In this thread the solution was to "configure system to run flashtool as an ordinary user (not root) and it mystically started to work!" so maybe someone can shed some light on what that means.
Thanks
Latest flashtool is 0.9.19.10
be sure to patch the .jar

[HELP] Flashtool 0.9.23.2 not showing FTF files

Hello fellow Xperia users/developers,
I am trying to flash my Xperia z5 (E6653) which had its motherboard replaced yesterday. It is still in lollipop so I decided to update it to nougat. However, PC companion identifies my phone updated while its not. So I decided to flash it manually instead. I downloaded the FTF file from Xperifirm with the build no. 32.4.A.0.160 / R1E. The problem it the 0.9.23.2 version does not identify FTF files even I checked its file location properly. I searched in this forum that old versions works. I tried downloading the 0.9.18 (I think) and it really identified the FTF. However I received an error message regarding the TA thing to find out that this error might be due to only 0.9.23 versions supports nougat FTF.
So my concern is, how can I have my FTF file identified by 0.9.23? Because I can't use my phone right now. I hope someone might help me. Or give me an alternative to flashtool if there's any.
Thank you.
Redownload file ftf again with a stable connection..
Hello, what if I still dont see the ftf after redownloading?

Anyone switch regions on their Sony Xperia?

I live in the US and have an International Sony Xperia 5 II. I need to switch the firmware to the US version of the Sony Xperia 5 II to be able to receive LTE again. I am using FlashTool and Xperifirm in Ubuntu Linux. Has anyone been able to successfully switch the region version of their phone by flashing it? If so please let me know how you did.
I have Linux on my desktop but I also have a Windows OS on my laptop.
UPDATE: I used newflasher to flash my phone with the different region. This included having Flashtool to know what drivers to download and Xperifirm to download the firmware I wanted. Make sure to have the prereqs that are needed found on this website: https://www.guidebeats.com/install-sony-official-firmware-flashtool-xperifirm/
In my case, my Windows 10 wizard was unable to download the Google USB driver that was in the Flashtool drivers folder which is needed to run newflasher, so I looked up the Google USB driver found at: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
And finally I was able to use newflasher program to flash my phone, essentially changing my firmware from the international version of Xperia 5 II to the US version.

Trick or hack Xperia Companion into using other firmware files when Repairing phone?

Im wondering if anyone has tried to use Xperia Companion (XC) to install firmware other than the latest available. XC uses firmware files located in the ...UpdateEngine\localstorage\US\ folder, so i thought i could swap them with files downloaded from Xperifirm. I even renamed Android12 binary files with Android11 filenames, but appears XC is too smart for me. Trying to Repair offline doesn't work either.
I ask because im now on Android12 and would like to go back to Android11, but im having no luck. Flashtool comes up with errors, Newflasher gives me the "Your device is corrupted" warning.
I'll get there eventually, i hope.
From what I understand you'd have to do a clean install and also unlock bootloader once you go up an Android level you can go back sorry I can't help you
