camera issues, green tint. - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I just bought a mate 9 pro, so far I'm happy with the phone but I felt that the photos taken with the rear camera were a bit weird. I went to a huawei shop and compared it to their model and photos taken with my phone have a slight green tint compared to the phone from the store.
Do you think this could be due to a firmware update? (I'm running the latest version but the shop was using b122).
Has anyone had this issue?

Did you try a factory reset? Maybe you have a faulty unit.

I recommend you copy the pictures on your computer to look at them on your monitor.
Maybe the green tint comes from the white balance of of your Mate 9 display which can be adjusted in the display options.

I've looked at them on my computer. It's quite slight and easily fixable with snapseed or other software but that's a bit of a hassle. So, maybe it's just a matter of taste...
I do prefer the images from the demo units in the shop but I wonder if the differences are due to slight tweakings by huawei in their newer firmware (since the demo units run an old firmware)...
I've attached a photo taken from my phone on the left and a photo taken with the shop model on the right.
Looking at it on my computer, the title is a bit incorrect, it's a bit more yellow, saturated. So, maybe it's just a matter of the white balance being always a little bit too warm...

Are your Note Pro's yellows green? Is mine defective?

Hi all,
I've been an original Note 10.1 user for 18 months an upgrade to a Note Pro on a great deal. It arrived this morning and at first everything was wonderful, but the moment I fired up Sketchbook Pro, the yellows looked dull and greenish. A large stroke of pure yellow painted some seemingly olive green colour. It's not really suitable for art. Video and photo's tend to look okay though (possibly even better colour balanced that other devices I have), so it's hard to pin down. It also happens in other applications - the colour picker in SNote has a really sad, depressed yellow. I've taken a few photos alongside other displays but depressingly they capture a pure yellow which is very odd.
Googling around, the Lenovo Yoga 2 uses the same screen and has users grumbling about the yellows, and a BIOS update has improved things but not fixed them, suggesting the RGBW Pentile display is just incapable of accurately displaying true yellows. If that's the case though, why wasn't this brought up in the many glowing reviews of the Note Pro?
The best way to ascertain whether mine's a defective/improperly calibrated unit or not seems to be to ask other owners, hence my enrolling here. If you paint some pure yellow in Sketchbook Pro, does it look yellow? Does it pop like a ripe lemon or banana, or look somewhat sickly and off? Is the Note Pro just incapable of rendering such colours?
As an aside, why aren't colour calibration options included on devices like they are on TVs?? Seems an easy way to allow users to tailor their colour preferences. Edit: Huh. Samsung does provide Screen Modes for their tablets, just not those from Hong Kong!
Turns out the Hong Kong model doesn't have Screen Mode settings according to the manual. US and EU does, but not Hong Kong. Why?! So I'm guessing that this model is limited to 'movie mode' colours or something. If you vote above, please mention which region your Note Pro is from (and better yet, if changing the Screen Mode changes the colour rendering).
Have you found out anything else? I've the same problem (I've already voted).
I'm questioning myself if I should send it for RMA or not, since I live in Argentina.
Hey guys. I noticed that whenever I pull down my notification / settings bar the yellows displayed on background stuff looks normal. This is kind of an annoying find, as it shows that the note pro is capable of correct colors

bought xperia z5, defected lens? xperia z5 users please help!

Greetings guys, ive just bought the Xperia Z5 but for some reason there semms to be a problem with the lens, i am here to ask you if you can confirm this issue with your phone, i took a snapshot of my monitor and ive found out that the middle of the picture is of crispy clear quality, but as soon as i move a little to the left on the bottom part of the screen i find a blurr and if i move even further to the left the blurr is gone.
Is this normal? is there any hidden plastic stickers glued on the camera lens that i should remove?
Please take a minute to look at my pictures to help me understand if im missing something or it is really a defect unit, my version is REV2, android updated to latest firmware and camera settings cleared.
Both 20mp and 8mp pictures have this problem visible, due file size limitation ill only post the 8mp one with red arrows and text showing exactly where the blurr is:
8mp

EDIT: After the phone swap, the blurry picture is gone, now the image is crystal clear without any problems whatsoever:

Xperia support might say "we need to take a look" but i dont want to send it to repair as if its defective i can just go to store and swap for a new one.
Please guys, i beg you to take a moment to relook at the photo, this time i added some arrows explaining the issue to be quicker and easier for you to see what im talking about and compare with yours.

Its not that the left side is blurred, it starts ok then blurrs then goes ok again.
Sorry, but the test doesn't prove anything. Probably unstable image from screen refresh and being hand-held. Try it with a real image - not a monitor - and set it on holder or tripod of some kind. Also don't zoom in so close... cameras have a minimum focal length. My initial impression is that it's not a problem with the Z5.
this is a flat TFT LCD DVI monitor, refresh rate doesnt work as you think they do on digital monitors with digital connections, only the area needing refreshing is actually refreshed rather than the entire screen like a CRT, and if my hands were shaking it was the entire picture that was going to be blurred and not just a tiny portion of the center picture, i also took several photos and the blurred area is exactly in the same spot no matter where i do it.
I just wanted to know if that blurry spot was normal on all phones but this does not semm to be true so ill have to replace mine today.

You need to take a landscape photo with focus mode set to infinty or touch to focus and touch the sky for a proper image to view if your camera lenses are decentered, has micro particles on the sensor lenses and/or lens cover is not 100% flat and clear. Could be any of those reasons, none or a mix. If you haven't dropped your phone or in any way damaged it then and have spots of bluriness then it might be factory faulty, either lenses, cover lens or a mix.
Though by looking at your photo I would doubt the lenses are decentered as it appears as soft spots in random places around focus place and doesn't look like decentered lens(es) as there is no "multi-step" ghosting. I would think the cover lens is warped or have spots, dirt smudging or on the sensor lens. But do try the above first. Remember to put the phone on something stable as you dont want any vibrations for test photos.

Sigh... I'm not going to get into an LCD display discussion. Try a real image with text like a book or a piece of paper. Don't get too close while taking the pic. Set the phone on a stable surface and use the self-timer. We're trying to diagnose the camera, not your monitor.
---------- Post added at 11:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 AM ----------
FYI, why it's not a good idea to use an LCD monitor to test a camera: PWM. Yes, LCDs can cause flicker, banding, distortion. That's not to mention flicker induced by room lighting on the monitor. So in summary, please do not use a monitor to test a camera.

I can see the wording of "how powerful" is blur. The word below it of "certain" also blur, as well as below it of "straightened out".
Both edge of left and right is also blur.
But still better you test with others object for example a wording from book/paper not the monitor.
Great news guys! swapped my phone at the store for a new one and here are the new results
http://postimg.org/image/fc6v40yvd/full/
Blurr free, YESS!! im so happy with my new phone now! With the old phone when i got at the store I even snapped a book text instead of a monitor text (taking into account what you guys tought about the monitor) to prove them that it was the lens fault and not just a bad photo and they seen the blurr exactly in the same spot of the camera lens no matter how many photos i took.
I came from samsung galaxy s6 very dissapointed that my phone had isocell instead of the sony imx240, isocell sensor (same of the galaxy s5) has way worse edge blurr than this phone and the details are soft all across the board, the only advantage of the isocell is in low light because of its OIS, but even then the colors are washed out and black is tinted as purple with iso ver 400, noise is visible more with xperia z5 than with isocell but the xperia z5 has much more sharp image and details in daylight come much clearer, overall i like this phone alot more than the galaxy s6.
Thank you all for your time guys, im a happy owner now and i when i get the chance ill do my best to help you with what info i can for the attention paid to my cry for help.
Cheers.
Sigh... i spoke too soon, this new phone has 6 dead pixels, what on earth is going on with Sony?
I guess I'm lucky then, I don't notice any blur in my pictures, or what do you guys think? https://goo.gl/photos/DneNpL8KVQtobykc7

How white are your whites?

No, I'm not trying to sell washing powder, just trying to understand an issue I've had now with two Pixel 2 devices, and one that I posted about on the colour saturation and accuracy thread on the Real Life Review boards previously.
My first Pixel 2 arrived in December and I was immediately underwhelmed with the colour balance on the display - regardless of configuration options. Whites were very yellow - not as bad as when the Night Light was on, but far from white. So I returned the device, and a new one arrived a few days later. My second Pixel 2 is undoubtedly much better than the first. Not only was the colour balance better, it was also noticeably sharper when compared side by side. However, it still has a definite yellow tint in the whites, and some images seem to show this more than others - for example, flesh tones in the otherwise superb photos (when viewed on the device) look odd.
It's most noticeable for me when I have a nearby monitor or screen to compare. Individually the phone does not look so bad, but the whites on my monitor, laptop, tablet and even old phones are significantly whiter. (I'm not helped by the fact that I work in front of a screen all day - so I'm rarely able to avoid the comparison.)
Hence the question - both my devices have had a distinct yellow tint in the whites. How about yours?
I'd really like to keep the phone - because pretty much everything else about it is great. However, it's not a cheap phone, and because of that I'm not sure I should be making such a compromise on the display.
Any feedback appreciated.
I went to Best Buy and looked at the Pixel 2 they had there, and it had a similar yellow tint to the one I had that I RMA'd, but I don't think the tint was as bad on the one at Best Buy as it was on the one I had.
To get a comparison I just loaded the Play Store app (white background) and compared to a sheet of laser printer paper I had on my desk (under fluorescent lighting in my office). I'd have say my whites were a bit colder (i.e. less yellow) than the paper appeared under these lighting conditions.
I tried changing colour mode, but that didn't seem to have a dramatic effect on the white point, though "saturated" looked a little different - I'm not sure whether I'd describe it as "warmer" (more yellow/less blue) or just having slightly more green, but there was a very small change in colour temperature in that mode. I use "natural" myself anyway.

Thanks for the feedback.... I'm using natural mode too - boosted, or saturated just make the whites more yellow for me. It's subtle - but noticeable.
I've also noticed yellowish whites comparing it to other screens. Even my old N6P had better whites. I don't know if it's a generalized issue we should worry about, or just stick with it.

It's just how these screens were tuned. They are much warmer than LCD screens and look yellow when u compare to basically any other display. It's a feature, not a bug. Stop comparing and you won't notice it ?

You're right of course, I need to stop comparing... I just got a bit paranoid after my original RMA'd device's screen was so poor. I think I'm going to stick with it.

Vivo NEX display light bleed issue.

Hey Guys, while I was watching something on the Netflix last night, spotted some hazy areas on the NEX and when I cross checked the same video on my Note 8, it was just fine on the Note 8. So, it was a pretty bad light leak on the NEX. I have put up a video of the same on the link below. check it out and also uploading an image of the same. Please let me know if anyone of you have this issue.

To spot it, go to a dark room and download a dark grey image and view it in the full screen at full brightness. Also attaching the image that i used for testing.

Well it’s not only note 8 but also presented at Galaxy s8/s9 series.
I’ve noticed too at my S9 plus unit that got earlier April.
Simple you’ve got used and live to that as there’s no other solution even getting replacement device or replace screen there’s no warranty will be free of that kind of issues.
There’s details review from Anandtech to that issue presented as I said Galaxy S9 series.
Take a look over here as I assume Vivo Nex also using AMOLED display from Samsung.
Only my OP5T does not show that issue with dark scenes at low light level brightness.

Well im just saying with above post that's those issue are common with AMOLED panel.
You can try your luck by replacement either whole device with new one or go service and being replaced by new panel
But as i said there is no warranty new device or panel will not have the same issue:fingers-crossed:
It's your personal choise what going to do
That's a shame. Because, I have had the note 8 for the last 9 months and luckily have had no issues. And I yeah I don't think the replacement is going to help, but just giving it a try and hoping I get a good panel

My Vivo NEX viewing angle not Good. If I see the screen straight (90*) screen looking something yellowish if I change the viewing angle a little it became cool white. Is it screen problem or display
Viewing angles on my phone looks pretty good. Yes there will be a slight shift of colour, but that happens on all the phones. So, I don't think it should be an issue unless its really bad on yours.

Question Pixel 6a green tint, poor camera quality in viewfinder

Is anyone's pixel 6a having a green tint issue. I bought a pixel 6a (japanese set) and noticed the screen, even on a white screen, looks significantly greener than other phones, which I'm ok with because it is consistent across the screen. However, at minimum brightness (when I was using it at night in a dark room), the top part of the screen shows an even more severe green tint.
Also, the camera viewfinder seems to lag (low frame rate) and has high noise level even when compared to my pixel 3. Sadly the image quality post-processing isn't significantly better either. A little disappointed because I was expecting decent upgrade without having to burn a hole through my wallet.
The seller that I bought from is willing to do an exchange and I will be heading down soon, but just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Hopefully this is an isolated issue and doesn't affect a whole batch of pixel 6a users out there.
Note:
I have tried changing every display setting,
updated to the latest Android 13 firmware and also done factory reset multiple times yet the issues persist.
Dont got that massive green Tint, as i got my Phone, on first start there where alot green Pixels around the Camera Punchhole. After Setting up everything , they disappeared.
Good you can replace it...seems like an HW Issue.
Return it that is not normal
This is a hardware issue, you should never see that much magenta or that type of striping through a camera. The green is as bizarre, but visible to the naked eye. A refund or exchange is in order, I would personally be wary of the seller should they try to give you another phone instead of a refund.
