I wanted to flash a ROM, so I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP successfully. Then I downloaded the ROM, factory reset, format data, and installed the ROM. When the phone booted, it showed a black screen, and only the hardware buttons worked. I could lock the phone, and if I pressed the power button, it would "light up" the screen, but still black. Holding the power button gave me the power menu from the ROM I flashed (advanced boot options).
I did another factory reset and flashed the ROM again, and from thereon out, it never made it to the lock screen again.
I have attempted the eRecovery function, but it doesn't fix the issue either. The firmware downloads and is installed, but then it just boot loops for a couple times, then goes back to the screen suggesting a recovery operation.
Is this permanent now, or can it can still be salvaged?
Huawei Mate 9
Version: MHA-L29C567B190
*Edit:
The ROM I attempted to install was ROM-Aur-v1.5.
I had no ROM installed previously; phone was stock.
I did not manipulate the OEM info; all I did was unlock the bootloader with the unlock code I was given by the Huawei online site.
Solution:
Apparently, unlocking the bootloader several times seems to have solved the issue.
Once again, thanks to everyone who helped me out with this.
Which rom did you install.
What was the rom, which was installed before?
Did you change branding via manipulating oem info?

Thank you for your response. However, I tried it and it didn't work for me. I downloaded the app, checked the firmware was available, registered the update, changed my router DNS, and then attempted the eRecovery. It downloaded the package then installed it, but the same problem continues.

I don't know how to get any other information (other than the IMEI and SN which are on the box), since I can't make it past the boot logo screen.

How would I go about doing that? I can't take the phone past the boot logo screen; it just boot loops then goes to the eRecovery screen. And when I try that recovery method, it only gives me the option to download latest version over WiFi and install it. Which does not fix the problem.

Rebranding is not really necessary.
@OP
For MHA-L29C567B190 (you wrote B910 which I assume is incorrect), use:

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but somehow it appears my phone is now working again. I did not rebrand nor update it. I simply unlocked the bootloader, AGAIN (which is what confuses me since I tried it before and it didn't work, at all). Regardless, I am not complaining!
I am not marking this thread as solved yet, just in case, but I will do so later on in the day if the phone continues working as before.
I want to thank all of you for your time and input, I really appreciate it.
Also, I'm never trying to flash anything on this phone again; I have learned my lesson. :/

Unlocking bootloader does a factory reset so that might be why it's working again

Unfortunately, I do not remember the exact process I performed in order to unlock the bootloader the final time.
I remember I had to play a lot back and forth with adb and fastboot. Have you checked if fastboot recognizes your phone?
I believe that what I did was start from the very beginning; installing a recovery (I used TWRP). If fastboot recognizes your phone, and you are able to install a recovery, from there I'm pretty sure adb will recognize your phone and then you can unlock the bootloader.
I would recommend not trying anything fancy. Only recovery and bootloader.
I hope this answers your question and helps you out. Best of luck.

Thanks for responding! I'm still at a loss two hours later.
Unfortunately USB debugging got turned off somewhere along the way, so ADB and fastboot aren't recognizing my phone. I can still access TWRP, but when I try adb sideload in TWRP is just says it's starting but keeps loading and nothing comes up and I get a message on my computer that says "the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it"

Yeah, the ADB sideload problem also happened to me. Eventually gave up on that.
I hope I'm allow to post links.
But here is a link to something I remember using.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/android-wont-connect-windows-adb-fix-it-three-steps/
Using those tools mentioned in that post helped me out. I had to do a lot of experimenting with that as well. Every time I connected and disconnected my phone from my computer, I checked which were the references that needed deleting, then deleted them. It was tedious, but I'm not expert, so maybe I took the long way.
Maybe try using those tools?

Read bootloadercode is fine, save it in a textfile and use fastboot oem unlock xxxx (where xxxx is your bootloader unlock code) be sure usb debugging and oem unlock are activated before using fastboot
After downloading the DC Android app and investing about 4€, the bootloader could be unlocled without problems and without Huawei!
But resetting phone (after Bootloader unlocking) failed and EMUI is not loading any more...
I try to flash the original firmware and hope to solve this problem with that... Downloading EMUI via eRecovery also failed because of verification problems...

Try to do factory reset again from stock recovery, and wipe cache.
Hold volume up + power till you see the logo and release power while keeping volume up.
By the way i hate dc unlocker, more problems than fixing lol

I solved the Problem!
I only had to re-lock and then unlock my bootloader again via fastboot and it's working now!
But there are other problems:
When i activate developer options and try to open it, the settings are always crashing...
The same happens when i try to make a factory reset within the storage settings...
When i connect my phone to a PC while in TWRP, there are only some folders with cryptic numbers and i am not able to copy files to my phone (like superuser)...
What can cause this strange behavior?
And why is there no HiCare App and no update menu available? How can that be reactivated?
Problems solved using FunkyHuawei!
Now everything seems to work correctly (except of backing up via TWRP)...
For others who have the same problems with rooting their Huawei Mate 9, here is a little Tutorial:
How to unlock the bootloader without Huawei
download and install "DC Huawei Bootloader Codes" (from dc-unlocker) from playstore
open the app and klick on "DC-unlocker account"
pay the about 4€ via playstore (username and password is sent via email to the given address)
download and run the DC-Unlocker client (from dc-unlocker.com)
follow instructions from website (https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-id-unlock)
unlock-code should be shown after following all instructions
shutdown phone
hold volume-down-key and connect the phone via USB to a PC (release key when bootloader appears)
run fastboot-command "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxx" (x = your unlock code)
confirm message on screen
system performs factory reset
bootloader should now be unlocked! (can be seen in bootloader)
if something not working try to lock ("fastboot oem relock xxxxxxxxxxx") and unlock the bootloader again
or do a factory reset and wipe cache via recovery
if nothing solves the problem buy a FunkyHuawei account (15$/month) and make a clean re-installation of the firmware like discribed there (https://funkyhuawei.club/instructions)
How to install TWRP recovery
shutdown phone
hold volume-down-key and connect the phone via USB to a PC (release key when bootloader appears)
flash recovery via fastboot (recovery should be in same folder as fastboot.exe) ("fastboot flash recovery twrp-xxx.img") (x = downloaded version)
type "fastboot reboot"
leave the USB cable connected to PC
when phone booted hold volume-up, volume-down and power key
release power key after vibration
release volume keys after Huawei-logo disappears
TWRP should start!
How to root phone
requirements: unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery t3.0.2-2-hi3660 (from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-huawei-mate-9-t3515617)
copy superuser-r275.zip to phone storage (download link also available in the thread mentioned above)
boot into TWRP recovery (connect the USB cable to PC -> hold volume-up, volume-down and power key -> release power key after vibration -> release volume keys after Huawei-logo disappears)
choose "install" and select the previous copied .zip-file
after installation reboot phone
install Superuser_2.0_Beta_9.apk (from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69224582&postcount=1896)
download "Root Checker" from play store
Root Checker should show root access!
Please cosider that i am not responsible for any damage on the device after using this tutorial

I don't think so, because i had to re-flash the whole firmware to cure the errors and i think, until now, there is no other method to flash a firmware without using the Huawei eRecovery (modified with FunkyHuawei)...
No, after the clean setup with FunkyHuawei everything works fine for me, without any errors! It works like before, allthough the Bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted
Today I updated my phone using the Firmware Finder app... I chose the version that was the next release from the version I had on my phone.
This downloaded and updated my phone, no issues.
I then decided to update the phone to next version, which was a full OTA release.
This downloaded successfully but when the phone rebooted and tried to update, it failed.
It is now stuck on the screen that says "Reboot", "Factory Default/Wipe" or "Clear Cache".
Tried "Clear Cache"... The cache clears but then returns to the same menu.
Tried "Reboot"... But it reboots to the same menu.
Tried "Factory Default"... But it fails after about 5%.
I am able to get it into "Huawei eRecovery" mode (holding up volume button), but when you select "Download latest version and recovery" over Wifi it returns an error saying "Getting package info failed".
I was also getting into the "Fastboot & Rescue" mode (showing unlocked in green at the bottom), but this now seems to have stopped working.
I've tried connecting to the phone via HiSuite and SRKTools, but neither recognise the device.
Any suggestions on how to recover my phone please?

Okay... After two weeks of searching forums, watching YouTube videos and requesting help from everywhere I went, I finally came across a Huawei GENIUS!
He charges $20 to get your phone back to stock or $25 to get it up to the latest update in whatever version you require.
It looks like my phone had previously been modified before I bought it, but using unconventional methods, which meant it was a difficult phone to recover. It ended up taking this guy 2 days remotely connected to my computer via TeamViewer to sort out all the problems, reflashing the phone using various different programs and firmwares. I cannot recommend him enough if you have any issues with your Huawei. He was very patient and knowledgeable.
He can be found at http://ministryofsolutions.com (hope it's okay to recommend his link - if not, PM me for details).
I now have a fully working phone that has the latest EMUI/Android update. Very happy!
You know, it's just 15 euro to reflash your phone with dc-phoenix...
Didn't work... I think in the end he used HDE Tools. Like I say, wasn't an easy fix when it took 2 days to sort.

I am posting here to thanks @alexburn for his post and to confirm that that the guy on ministry of solutions is a genius.
I used to be familiar with flashing phones, adb and fastboot commands on Nexus devices, but Huawei is mess. This guy helped me to unbrick a chinese region phone and install a european rom.
:good::good::good:
Glad you got sorted mate
Ok, this is hard to explain.
My phone was original a honor 8 from china, then 2 years back I made the rebrand to european version lrd09 6.0 , then I flash to emui 5.0 nougat. I was perfectly fine with that over 2 years, I live in argentina and it never ask me for update.
Now I am on vacation on italy (europe), and one update was available, I update my device, first update 400 mg file, all ok. Then a next update was available of 700mg, I did not thought it could have been a problem because my phone had a european version, so I did it.. and it enter in boot loop until it enters the recovery, I try to download latest version and recovery but it does not work.
How can I recover my phone? I guess I let one image version of emu5 when everything worked fine in my computer and not sure if in my phone too.
But now I dont have twrp working, only the original huawei recovery, it has bootloader and I guess the rebrand stays.
I love my pictures with this phone, and this was my first day from my vacation, I want to cry
The only solution that I can think off, is to buy a new honor8 or something with similar good camera and price, then use that and back into argentina try to recover my phone and sell one of the two.
There is another solution?

So.. I need to do this?

What it does the option wipe cache partition does? it may help?
If I wipe data, I lose my pictures located in the main memory card? Or these remain in the dcim folder?
Or for that I need Android Data Recovery and cross fingers?
If i make a factory reset, then I can update my honor in europe to emui5 without this happening to me again?
The fact that it has the bootloader, it may block me to do this?

So not sure why this did not work.
I have heard that the Chinese variants which are rebranded to L09 gets stuck in a bootloop after a certain EMUI 5 update. I guess the same has happened with you. Before I can help you any further, can you confirm if your bootloader is unlocked. To check it, if your device is powered off, hold down your volume down button and immediately plug the device to a computer. If you're in a bootloop, hold the power button for a force reboot and as soon as the screen goes black hold down volume down and connect your device to PC.

Hi, thanks for helping me, ok. I did what you ask me.
After doing that, it show me a white screen with the android robot image and it said:
FastBoot Rescue Mode
Please connect usb to your computer and open hisuite (i dont have hisuite in this notebook)
In red: Phone Unlocked
FRP unlock.
I want to tell you that I check the memory flash card that I have in the honor 8, and like I thought, there is an image that I did with the twrp, but I guess I dont have twrp anymore.
Maybe many things that you told me, I will not be able to do it until I return from my vacation, because in this PC, I dont have android studio, or hisuite, or all the plugins that I remember to use when I rebrand this phone.
But maybe I can do it anyway. I dont remember if I have to download the whole android studio to install TWRP.

Nah, you don't need to install the whole Android Studio just for ADB/Fastboot. Grab the installer (I made) from here: https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-F...ster/versions/adb_fastboot_installer-1.0s.exe
Get Huawei 32-bit drivers: https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-F...master/versions/drivers/huawei-drivers-32.zip
Get Huawei 64-bit drivers: https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-F...master/versions/drivers/huawei-drivers-64.zip
(You only need one of the above drivers)
With all utilities installed, you can now easily flash TWRP.
For firmware, please tell me the complete build number for your device i.e. FRD-L09XXX (what are those three Xs).

Thanks for the links and info.
Although I am not sure how to know the build number, I guess the update to emu5 was something like 431.. or something like that, but I am not sure, I did this two years ago.
I need to know the build number to install TWRP or recover my phone?
If it is bricked, not sure how I can access to the build number.
Hi, I understand probably not very many people still use Honor 6 these days but maybe somone might be able to help. I got it second hand with official B380 ROM (Android 4.4.2), tried upgrading to B521 (A5.1.1) which didn't finish and caused bootloop. It's L60-H04 version (EU distribution).
the problem: the phone is soft bricked (stuck in bootloop), I can't get to recovery mode, and the three button method with a full ROM on SD card doesn't work either (upgrade either doesn't start at all or gets stuck before finishing); I can get to fastboot mode but flashing doesn't work either, I get the "remote command not allowed" method both when manually using fastboot and typing all the commands and when using Huawei multitool. I assume this means the bootloader is locked. (Although when I check bootloader status it says unlocked, however I've read this might happen but in reality it could still be locked).
I assume it means both boot and recovery are damaged, so flashing (fastboot, adb) seems to be the only option. Unfortunately, the phone is second hand so I have no documentation, don't know the imei and serial number to request the bootloader unlock code.
So, is there any other way to get the code? Or does anyone have any other suggestion how to unbrick? Any help is appreciated.
SOLVED - solved by using paid tools DC-Phoenix and HCU-client
Good day fellas.
Today I played around with my old Phone and somehow deleted the bootloader. It only boots me to the eRecovery therefore not able to use ADB/Fastboot. It doesn't matter if the Phone is unbrickable but I wanna keep playing around with it. I do not have the option to Factory Reset or use the Emergency Backup meaning the bootloader is pretty much gone. Is there any way I can unbrick this phone? I tried every possible combination of keys but nothing works LOL. I also cannot use "Download lastest version and recovery" due do the phone being unable to find my Wifi (but can find any other Wifi in my house xd). Any idea will be tried out no matter if it requires disassembly since this phone is already disassembled because of the lld-testpoint method to unlock the bootloader lol.
Edit: Somehow was able to get into TWRP althrough eRecovery is on there. Strange. Got into TWRP by pressing factory reset. TWRP also isn't able to boot into bootloader and justs shuts off my phone

Pretty late response but I'll try to help you. First of all, this is Non-Lite forum, so you better ask in P20 Lite forum. Second of all, look up "IDT Huawei P20 Lite", idt is tool from HiSilicon that let's you flash board firmware on your phone, but you will have to disassemble your phone to access testpoint for this method. You have to find your idt firmware online, so good luck!
