Changing a default 4G band - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hello. I am an owner of Huawei P7-L00 (dual sim). I have a problem with sim slot 1 with many signal disconnections. My phone is also for FDD-LTE & TDD-LTE band. I had a contact with my provider and told me that the possible reason is that sometimes my phone tries to find the default 4G band (TDD) that is not supported in Greece. Othertimes succeed to make a search to find the optional band (FDD) that is supported in Greece and is supported by phone too and other times doesn't succeed to make a search and I lose my signal. Could you inform me how can I change the default band to (FDD) or how can I delete the app or the process which making this searching? Any other opinion of the problem, please?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Dual WCDMA

Hello,
I am looking for a phone that supports dual WCDMA. Currently my "HTC Desire 600 dual sim" provides WCDMA only on SIM1.
The SIM2 is simply GSM.
I wish a phone where also the SIM2 offers WCDMA.
Background:
due to frequent traveling in 2 countries I am using SIM1 or SIM2 respectively.
On Country1 I have Internet using SIM1, but when residing in Country2 I need to turn ON Data-roaming (of SIM1) , or interchange SIM2 into SIM1's port (WCDMA) so that SIM2 will have Access to Internet.
This is really annoying.
Any Ideas?
Thx
PS: Sorry for duplicates, I opened this thread allthough I searched and found another similar question in this Forum, dated from last year.
That question was however not answered.

i donĀ“t no if are any phone with 2 WCDMA
lg phones have the option for wcdma on both sim settings.. you can select any one sim as 3g but other sim has to be on 2g (without removing sims out of slots).. i have used e445/e715.. do check on specific model but most probably lg must be having that on all models..

That's a good hint with LG. Manually switching forth and back to WCDMA, but without need to interchange the sims, is something I can live with.
Thx !

how would i change frequency band on unlocked phone?

i have a unlocked reddot mobile R50 (pretty sure a chinese clone). its a mtk6572 device with dual sim, rooted and running 4.2.2
gsm bands are 850/900/1800/1900mhz
dual-band 3g WCDMA 850/2100mhz
i'm using an att straight talk sim. i'm getting full bars but only getting edge. according to "mobile radio frequency" i'm on gsm 850. it don't change wherever i go.
so my questions are:
is it supposed to stay on 850 or is it supposed to change depending on where your are?
is there a universal way to change it for example some samsung phones have a hidden service menu via dial code. i've tried all dial codes but don't have a hidden menu.
any way to do it by editing the sim with dfs or something?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Buying decision: H60-L12?

Hey guys,
I found the Honor 6 on the web and would like to buy it, but only with NFC.
Unfortunately the version officially available for my country (H60-L04) doesn't support NFC.
Now I'm considering buying an H60-L12 on the web and would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:
Does the H60-L12 work with Austrian networks?
Does 4G/LTE work in Austria?
Is german language available for H60-L12?
I've heard that in the menu there are still some chinese letters, even if you switch the language to English (or another language). Is that true?
Would it be possible to flash the firmware of H60-L04 on H60-L12 and still make use of NFC (and could this also have an effect on network compatibility)?
According to what I've found on the web, the following frequencies are used in Austria:
2G: GSM 900, GSM 1800
3G: UMTS 2100
4G: LTE 2600 (B7 2600, B20 800 FDD)
I've read that the H60-L12 supports the following:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: UMTS(WCDMA): B1(2100MHz)/B8(900MHz)
4G: FDD-LTE: B1(2100MHz)/B3(1800MHz); TDD-LTE: B41(2496-2690MHz)
So it seems to me that 2G & 3G should work but 4G not? Or maybe it does (don't know what exactly FDD & TDD means and the frequency 2600 would be included in TDD)?
Is there anything else I have to consider?
Optionally: Can you name alternative smartphones for me?
I prefer an android smartphone with display size about 5", 2-4GB RAM, at least 8GB internal memory, SD card slot, infra-red, NFC support, camera should not be that bad.
Fingerprint and LTE would be nice but not a must have.
Regarding UI I like HTC Sense and Emotion UI but I am also open for others.
So far I've had bad experience with samsung phones...
Currently I am using my HTC Sensation XE running ViperS 5.2.1 and love the Venom Tweaks.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Check if there are other network carriers in your country that support B1 or B3 freq bands for 4G. If yes, then 4G will work if you switch to that carrier.
Chinese fonts wont be an issue as it shows only in dialer app where location of call is shown in chinese fonts. It can be removed by changing region via root.

Unlocking LTE Bands

Hey guys,
I'm really interested in picking up a 4c, and would be even more inclined to do so if LTE bands can be unlocked (Ideally bands 2, 4 and 12).
This has been done successfully in the past on Xiaomi devices (specifically the Mi Note Pro with the Snapdragon 810). Since the 808 shares a very similar architecture to the 810, I'm hoping it can be done on the 4c successfully.
Here are some resources and guides to start with:

Hopefully someone with a Mi 4c is able to try and confirm their success!
That's very interesting! I wish also band 20 (800 MHz) could be unlocked since it's largely used in Europe.
Mee too interested to unlock (if possibile) 800 mhz
One more interested in the 800. :good:
B4 (AWS)
Im up for B4 (AWS) :good:
doesn't have it unlocked but it seems it makes really no difference. Don't trust the few articles from people who did not even test...
I have LTE bands everywhere (work, home, way between) and I live in a zone where it is kinda hard to get...

It depends a lot on what network you're on. The LTE bands that come enabled by default on the 4C don't support any US networks.
800 mhz (band 20) would be great
What LTE bands does mi4c support?
Does anyone know what LTE Bands the Xiaomi mi4c supports out of the box?
Been struggling to find a reliable source/list

2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz; CDMA BC0/BC1
3G WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz; CDMA BC0/BC1
4G FDD-LTE: 1800/2100/2600MHz; TDD-LTE: Bands 38(TD 2600) / 39(TD 1900) / 40(TD 2300) / 41(TD 2500)
800MHz?
Hi,
Bought mi4c to find out that I can't get LTE working in my village
I live 12kilometers from a bigger city. There is LTE available in my village but I think they operate on 800MHz and in city at 1,6GHz.
I dreamed about using my new 4g connection here after 3years with Galaxy S3
I have to try these guides. Thank you for providing them.
Regards,
Noboby tried to unluck bands?
Wouldn't advise in case it bricks the phone. If there is a way to unbrick, then go for it it

In Snapdragon phones there is always a way to unbrick but it could be very frustrating and time intense
I have tested it on many of my snapdragon phones.
On some phones, it works flawlessly. On other, the signal strength is weaken but works nevertheless. However, some phones especially carrier ones have anti tampering mechanism which reverts the value back to original after restart. However, usually this is solved by a custom kernel and custom rom but then again, it gets really tough to get into diag mode in custom modes.
Never had any problems.
But you MUST backup your EFS partition via recovery or using QPST / QXDM else you would have a lot of problems if you messed up the values like no signals or broken wifi or sensors etc. and SAVE them on your phone as well as on your PC. (at least two backups)
As long as you take the above two precautions, you will never mess up your phone!
Its supports LTE band 3 and 7 which is mostly used in europe, middle east and asia. However even after you select "Prefer LTE" from the setting it might not connect.
You can try this (this will change on reboot so will try to see if i can change within the code):
1. Enter *#*#4636#*#* in the diapad.
2. Select phone information 1 (there are two sims so select the first one)
3. Change to LTE/WCDMA (if it doesn't connect to LTE then try "LTE only" and then change it to LTE/WCMDA)
If the above doesn't connect to LTE then your carrier is offering LTE at a different frequency.
For me atleast the default APN were wrong, so i had to manually change the APN restart and then do the dialer thing.

There is NO LTE/WCDMA option only. Please see screenshot and point out what option I'm supposed to pick
screen shot of "phone information 1" --> http://imgur.com/BELHKaO
Which one of those am I supposed to tap on?
I picked "TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and LTE" but that broke network connectivity.
EDIT: Please also take a look at this: http://imgur.com/gallery/yzIHD49
I am currently connected to "3 ITA 3G" and would like to connect to "3 ITA 4G" but tapping on that makes a pop up appear "Registered on network". However no 4G appears in the bar on top. It remains stuck in 3G or H+.
3 ITA doesn't have LTE on band 20 [8oo Mhz LTE].
So why aren't I picking up 4G?
@AndrewIT im not in italy, however from Wiki it seems your carrier supports 4G on band 3 (1800).
select the "3 ITA 4G", then follow my steps. You have to scroll up that list in screenshot http://imgur.com/BELHKaO and you'll see "LTE only" and "LTE/WCDMA" option.

Thank you! I was finally able to see the 4G icon on my Mi4c.
Entered *#*#4636#*#* in the diapad.
Selected phone information 1 (there are two sims so select the first one)
I scrolled up [see screenshot] and set WCDMA and LTE from the list.

You can see that I successfully picked up 4G signal, but it was extremely poor, only one bar standing close to a window.
As I move inside the house it loses 4G and gets back to 3G or H+.
It seems that I'm way too far from the LTE antenna to get a good 4G signal.
Guys I am kinda lost here, so is there a good chance that it supports especially 800Mhz band or not ? And when I am here, is there hardware difference between TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE version? How do I find out which one I have ?

[URGENT HELP] 2G/No signal on my Nexus 5

Hey guys,
So my Nexus 5 stopped working the other day, and I sent it for repairs. It's come back now and I got a new SIM. Airtel 4G here in New Delhi, India. The problem is, it will only show me a 2G connection/no signal at times. I don't know what to do. The SIM works in other phones perfectly well. I've tried going to *#*#4636#*#* and changing to WCDMA only. Doesn't work. What is the alternative solution guys?
The phone was bough in the USA but before it got repaired, 3G worked flawlessly. So at least that should work, if not 4G.
Thanks,
Crazysah
No one has had this problem? Or no one knows a solution?
Hi, Airtel as I see operate in 2G (GSM, EDGE), 3G (HSPA+) and 4G (TD-LTE band 40). But Nexus 5 (USA model) D820 doesn't support TD-LTE (band 40), so for sure you can't connect to 4G. But 2G and 3G should be ok. You can reset network settings and check again.

Yes. 3G should work at least. But it isn't and that's the problem. Before repairing it, it used to work with my mom's Vodafone 3G connection. What's the solution here?
Can you try to restart and after that change to "GSM auto (PRL)" from *#*#4636#*#* menu? Are you tested other device with this SIM in the same location ?

Tried that. With no luck. I changed it to GSM auto (PRL) and stayed on that menu. Still showing E with full signal strength.
Any idea guys?
Nobody at all has any solution to this?
