So i have a US version phone and I'm trying to flash the firmware to the UK firmware.
1.) the phone is already in debugging mode
2.) installed Xperia PC companion
3.) installed Flashtool Version 0.9.23.2
4.) updated the Flashtool driver
when i connect my phone i get this message
17/006/2017 22:06:15 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging on
17/006/2017 22:06:15 - INFO - Connected device : Sony Xperia XZ Premium

but when i try to start the flashmode processes i get this message

(yes i turned off the device, waited about 10 seconds, pressed and held the VOLUME DOWN button and then plugged in the USB cable)
What am i doing wrong?
Has this ever happened to anyone of you guys?
is the phone defective? should i return the phone?
any kind of help or advice is greatly appreciated.
thank you
It looks like you're trying to use FlashTool rather than NewFlasher.
FlashTool has no support for XZP at the moment.
Power off the phone. Hold Vol- and then plug in usb cable. Green light will go on and then you are in flash mode. USB debugging has nothing to flashing. And as above Flash tool wont work.

I'm on Windows 8.1 x64, installed all drivers correctly, and when I connect my device with flashtool I receive this error:

So Flashtool says me to select a device from the list. When I select the Xperia L, he shows that:

I can reboot my phone with Flashtool, install busybox, etc.
But when I try to flash a firmware, it says me to install the driver and the flash fails.
How to solve this?
Have you installed fastboot and flashmode driver

Hi!
Some days ago my phone's battery has just died, I was charging it all night, but when I tried to turn it on it started to Bootloop. Then I was trying to flash the original sony system, but the Sony Flashtool program needs to have USB Debugging to be on. On my phone it wasn's turned on, so Im stock at this point, I cant flesh the thing on my E3. I would really appreciate If you would help me if you can.
So the main question is: how can I solve the problem about USB Debugging if the phone is softbricked?
Sony Flashtool: 21/039/2016 13:39:03 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
21/039/2016 13:39:03 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
I was trying to connect my phone in flash mode, but it failed because of not having USB Debugging on. Is there any way to enable USB Debugging if the phone is softbricked?

Hello,
First of all, you should have posted in Q&A section, not in development section.
Now, regarding your problem:
1) if you have an unlocked bootloader, no need to downgrade for root
2) use latest version of flashtool
3) ensure flashtool drivers for device, fastboot and flash mode are installed (you will find the drivers at C:\Flashtool\drivers)
4) if you are running windows 8 and above ensure driver signature is disabled before installing above drivers
5) once above done, follow instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/mm-32-2-5-11-customized-1298-9654-r9c-t3515100
Basically you just need to flash the FTF from the link, then flash the kernel through fastboot.
WOW !!! Thanks Man !!!

Hello,
I've flashed my Xperia L once or twice some time ago, now I just wanted to try out some of the new goodies, not just stay on the cursed 4.2.2. I have it all set up correctly software-wise, yet whenever I run Flashtool (version 9.19.8( and try to Volume-Down connect my phone, it get's problematic. Yeah, the phone does connect in flash mode, yet after a couple dozen seconds it simply disconnects as if I had manually unplugged it. Phone restarts and gets connected to PC the standard-way.
Now, is it that Flashtool automatically cuts off the connection after some time, or my cable or socket(s) are faulty? I thought it had something to do with having moved cable a tiny bit and connection being lost but now, I have tried again, ensuring no movement will be involved and it just disconnected again. I did also check all my laptop's USB ports, also bought a USB HUB and checked it. Did check two different cables, one for some Nokia, I think, no results.
Here's flashtool log.

First of all, you should check this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70833785&postcount=304
There, I've said that you should just use older versions of flashtool for XL, like v0.9.18.4 !
If it doesn't solve your problem, then you should flash the ROM , right after you connect the phone to pc, as fast as you can!
And note that if it disconnects again, do nothing, just unplug the phone and wait untill the progress bar is completed and rom is prepared for flashing, then it again asks to connect the phone, and you connect it and wait untill it Finnishes
It happened for me too, and with this method, I've flashed the ROM successfully!
Hello, long story short, I'm trying to downgrade from Android 8.0 to Android 6.1.1 so I can back up my DRM keys, this is where I got and it's not doing anything more, should I wait or what ?

@QattosOrion , From your logs it seems you are not connecting the phone properly. completely power off your phone and when flashtool asks to plug the phone keep pressing vol-down and plug the cable, don't touch the pwr button, flashing should start automatically.
