Weird widget scaling - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

It seems that some widgets on the U11 are scaling larger than they should be. For instance, the shazam widget is usually 1x1, but it's 2x2 on this phone. Same with some of the yahoo weather widgets, which normally would scale 5x1, but are 5x2 on the U11.
Anyone have this issue? It's really annoying!

Have you tried holding your finger on the widget to see if it allows you to resize it?.
Try changing the display size in settings/display to small.

The widgets cannot be resized, but changing the display size from default to small worked. Thanks!

Question about HTC Sense UI

Hi,
If I look the main screen of HTC Sense, there is one big clock on top and 4 icons on the bottom.
While in the middle, there is empty space ...
Can I put widgets there?
Thanks.
mmhmm
Yes, you can fill the entire screen with, well whatever your heart desires they just need to be the correct size, which is common sense
Thanks
What do you mean with the correct size?

Try to put a widget in the gap that's bigger than the gap, and you'll find out.
Dunno if i'm stating the obvious here but not sure if you realise...
You can also move/delete the clock and the icons. Replace them with whatever else.
Home screen items and widgets are locked to a 4x4 grid with icons being 1x1, things like the power widget and search bars being 1x4, etc. The SenseUI clock is actually a 4x3 widget iirc, so you can only get a single row of icons underneath it.
sure,you can.

no the clock is 4x2
what i did was to put the sense calendar widget in that place. looks good and functional
TIP:use androids stock analog clock,it's much neater imo and more usable since you don't need weather forecast (and especially your location) every time you look at your phone....it is 2x2 so you can have a better usage of your screen and will also save your battery
Better use smaller clock, 2 put more useful widgets @ home screen. Look at my home, for example.

Clock similar to Beautiful Widgets with NO weather

I am looking for a clock widget that may be similar to beautiful widgets however I do not need the weather part. I just need a quality clock widget.
Any ideas?
[edit] the overall lack of quality clock widgets for android is bizarre
you can hide the weather on beautiful widgets

No Weather Skin for Beautiful Widgets
Look for the "None" skin under "menu, skins, download skins"
'Retro clock' on the market.
with the new update you can hide the weather. see attached
Looking for this as well. A clock widget that looks like Beautiful Widgets without any weather info (not just invisible icons)
I have Digital Clock widget from Maizehttp://www.appbrain.com/app/com.maize.digitalClock
Which would be GREAT if I could change the font to the same as the nexus lock screen clock.

Agreed. I use the digital clock widget mentioned above. No changing of the font though.
I prefer to use weatherbug elite's widget and don't need two homescreen weather icons/info.

Is there an option to change the am/pm position to the right? In all screenshots I've seen, it's on the left of the time..
I can't even get it to display AM/PM
Of course as soon as I say that I get it to work.

I'd like to just have the clock without the weather nor the date either, but not sure if there is anything out there.

Not yet give it a little bit and I'm sure there will be quite a few out there at least six different styles
Maybe this will fit
"Sense Analog Clock Widget 4x2"

Homescreen grid. Which one do you use?

The default one on Sense is 4x4, but it could be increased with the likes of ADW or Launcher Pro.
I was playing with different values, but widgets are always overlapping.
If we take 960×540 display and subtract notification and dock areas, what's left? Don't think it is going to be 540x540. So, if I want to get rectangular greed, I'd need more rows, then columns.
What would be the optimal grid settings for qHD resolution?
I use adw.launcher with 6*8 grid. It's perfect for me.
So, using 6x8 on qHD screen, what would be the size of 1x1 cell?
I was trying to measure it with Desktop Visualizer tool, but the resulting widgets still overlap. ((

Sure icon texts / labels are overlapping, but I don't keep them enabled.

5x5 looks best with icon text

5 x 4 is enough imo

I use Elixir, and with the widgits, it is possible to get up to 7x7 icons on a screen.
I'm using Launcher Pro Plus and I think it looks great 6x4. It has an option to re-size widgets so that they don't overlap.

I use Elixir also. Started using it for the monitor and toggle widgets but fell in love with the app launcher widgets. I actually have zero icons on my home screens (all widgets) since Elixir is a widget. 49 icons on one home screen!
I really wish Sense could do at least 5x5...
I use ADW EX. 5x7 Is the best for me. 6x8 is too cluttered and it makes the icon labels overlap. Btw if the widgets look out of proportion just long press on them, press edit and adjust them to your liking.

Pure Calendar Widget?

I just got a Skyrocket, coming from an iPhone. I had Pure Calendar back when I had an original Droid so I downloaded it again to my Skyrocket, but I've got a problem.
No matter what calendar grid I choose, part of it gets cut off. Not sure if it's an issue with the Widget, or with Go Launcher, which I'm using.
Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have the grid size changed?
I do, but I still have it 4 icons wide (5 high).
Does Go Launcher allow you to resize any widget? I use Nova Launcher and I had the same problem, but just resized the calendar until it fit perfect.
I have not seen the option to resize widgets individually, only an option that is supposed to scale widgets to whatever grid you have set (for the record, the problem exists with that option checked or unchecked).

Press and hold the widget until a menu comes up then tap resize

Yeah, figured that out after I said it. I ended up putting my screen at the default 4x4, putting the widget on, then resizing back to 5x4. Seems to have worked.

[Q] Lockscreen time widget

Is it possible to change the size of the lock screen time widget? Or even move it around. Haven't found anything related to this.
If not all is well. Just looking to see if it can be done. It's kinda big for my tastes

AFAIK, not on the default lock screen. I am also looking for such an option or change the default clock widget.
