Change splash screen - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

As the title says, I'd like to know how to change the google pixel spash screen, instead of the stock one I'd like to use one made by myself because with PA rom would look much better (see attachments).
I had an S6 but the procedure was different, also nexus 6 has a different file/location where to edit the file, so does anyone know how can I do this with a pixel?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can on the pixel, or no-one has yet that I know of, it was easy on the Nexus devices, boot animation is easy to change (root)

Yes I know how to change the bootanimation, but the screen I meant was the one before, the "Google logo".
I'll hope to find a guide.

Good luck, ,I really don't think this can be done[emoji3]

Have you found how to do it? I have a xiaomi mi a1 wich has A/B partitions just like the pixel and every time I flash a splash.img using fastboot the splash screen is the same. If you found a way to flash it maybe it will also work on my device.

Somebody find how to do it? I'm in Android pie because in Q my pixel heat and reboot

[APP][MOD] Black One-Handed mode background

[Disclaimer: this is my first use of APKTOOL. So, this may be a bit buggy, and I'll state that up front. No bugs so far, but feedback is appreciated and will be used to tweak/fix it up.]
I noticed some other ROM had done this, but I couldn't find it. So I modified the EasyOneHand.apk to attempt to make it have a black background, to save power and save your eyes in a dark room. After all, black pixels use zero power on an OLED screen.
[As luck would have it, the chef of the X-NOTE rom responded and told me his ROM was the one that had it. Of course, I didn't see his response quickly enough and I had already gotten impatient and did it myself, so I thought I'd post it anyway. Credit to him for the inspiration for my learning...]
I have attached my mod as well as the original stock files (APK and ODEX) for replacement. I have added an Update.Zip for those who prefer to let the magic happen automatically. There is also a dark version - just be sure to rename it and overwrite the existing file to install it. The dark version intentionally has white edges so you can easily see where the screen border is.
Extract this to your /system/app folder, overwriting the existing one. Be sure to delete the corresponding ODEX file if it exists. Set the permissions to the same as the other files in the folder (chmod 644).
Let me know how it works for you!

But it didn't work!!! Did you reboot? You've gotta reboot, if you copy the file manually. Also, if using Update.Zip, it's best to clear cache/dalvik-cache.
Can I reuse or repackage this? Sure! Just give credit and send a link back to this thread.
How do I enable One Handed Mode? Look at the settings screenshots for details. You have to go to Settings -> Device -> One Handed Operation. Turn on "Use for All Screens." Then click the link at the bottom for the tutorial.
One handed mode is not working even after rebooting! Make sure you have all accesibility apps turned off.
Thank you Sir, its working great

There is a flashable update.zip there now, but I'll post a screenshot. Good point - some people are not familiar with the name "EasyOneHand.apk".

Hi there! I tried to install this mod unsuccessfully by replacing the file as instructed, then tried to replace with the original files and didn't work either. tried to flash and nothing. So right now I lost the one handed operation. I´m kind of noob so I think I´m probably doing something wrong, or perhaps is a different version depending on the phone, I have a N900W8. If anyone could help me would be very appreciated.
EDIT:::
I found the solution by desactivating "any dash" app from accesibility. I think it has something to do with this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465085&highlight=one+hand+operation

Glad to hear that you got it all sorted out! Accessibility apps can wreak havoc with the bugs Samsung has on their Roms.

Thanks Slappy! This works great! (although the update.zip failed to work via TWRP recovery. Have to manually replacing the apk)
Suggestions
1. Change the frame of the windows to deeper color as it's still white which wastes bit battery.
2. I don't know if this is feasible. Can the One Hand Mode stay after unlocking screen?
3. Can it also work for landscape mode?
Thanks again for your great great effort!
it seems like your apk is from a rom earlier than mj6 thats why it is not working with accessibility ON...so please please update it with a newer apk from mj6 or newer

I'm working on darkening it today. I have been working through quitting my job and finding another, so have been occupied as of late... I'm going to change it from #ffffff to #222222.
As to points 2 and 3, it is not something I have looked into, but I'll do some research. I believe that it is just the way it works (in other words, TouchWiz only calls the app when it is in portrait and it does not allow it to survive a lock/unlock.)

I have added a dark version, as per your request. I was actually thinking about this for some time myself. The X-Note ROM author made an all-black version, but I found it was hard to tell where the screen edges were, so I went with a dark gray and left the edges white so you can see them better.

That holiday boot up theme....

Has anyone got a solution to get rid of that ****** holiday boot up theme?
Wrong section
Wrong section. please ask in the Q&A
The answer is to root and edit /system/build.prop:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
Alternatively, install Xposed Framework and Xblast Tools. Look in 'build.prop Tweaks.'

Rom Toolbox may work. Easy to change the bootanimation with it. I've used it on another device but haven't tried it with the g yet.

Does Xblast conflict with Gravity Box? It seems like it could and last time I had a conflict between different Xposed modules things weren't pretty...

Bad enough I have to deal with xmas on the streets, most certainly don't want to see it on my phone.
Xblast and Gravity Box can co-exist without much effort.

Yeah works perfectly. Bit confusing to have a black screen during boot but already a step in the right direction.
Am i the only one that didn't like the Xmas boot?
How complicated?!
Simply delete or rename /data/local/moodle/bootanimation.zip then you have the original Moto bootanimation.
If you rename or delete /system/media/bootanimation.zip too, you will get the small green android standard bootlogo.
Jesus, how many times do you guys restart your phone per day? Its been like a week since I restarted mine, so much hustle for a 10 second animation once a week, more or less.

This would require root.
You could just go into Settings->Apps and uninstall updates for Motorola Boot Services.
Edit: Apparently that doesn't remove it.

Moto X Boot Animation

Can anybody port the Moto X boot animation for Nexus 5, its awesome because the boot animation changes according to the seasons. Is that feature can be port or am i asking something that is impossible ! ! !

Hi,
Jelly Bean with the Nexus 5... Something is wrong here , you are in the N5 section...
I don't know which device you have... Test and see but first make a Nandroid backup...
I you have the path /system/media/bootanimation.zip it's ok, but maybe the flashable zip won't work (due to the updater.script)... So inside the zip file, copy the bootanimation.zip file to /system/media, set the correct permissions like the previous file or set to rw-r--r--), then reboot.

[Q] Help please! Is it possible to change the boot splash screen?

This is unbelievable but I've just been from one end of the internet to the other (even used Bing!) and can't find anything at all about how to change the splash screen on the n9005.
Anyone here knows anything about it?
Is it simply an image file (like in the S2) that can be replaced? if so, anybody knows the path? file name?
or is it encoded into the kernel?
I'm lost!
Please help?
Try searching for 'boot animation'.. you'll find lots

I think he's referring to the splash screen which reads 'Samsung Galaxy Note 3' with the model number below.

Well, you can't change that.. it is embded in the chip. No software can change it

On my Sony Xperia Arc S, the splash screen was part of the kernel and could easily be edited. Unfortunately I am not aware how the system is on Samsung phones.

I have been trying this since 2 years back using my S3, but failed. In previous version of Samsung devices it was pretty easier as the developers came out with an app to mod your splash screen. By they way, the splash screens are in qmg format. In current devices, its not possible. In fact I tried asking one of the developers to mod the splash screen and the rejected my request as it can cause your device to be dead(sorry I couldn't figure out any better term ). Its a risky, impossible process
Hi, it is possible to create your own animations to boot from a zip file.
For this you must look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-create-qmg-boot-animations-t2217795
For your information the file you are looking for is in the system folder / media / shutdown.qmg
You can either create bootanimations that splash screen with the software.
I hope that this will help a little

He is not referring to bootanimations, he is referring to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SPLASH screen.
Oh sorry I'm a little tired :silly:
splash screen...
Thanks for the replies guys.
So, no one actually knows for sure where this image is hiding?
My guess is that is is encoded in the kernel (and then can be modified by compiling a custom kernel) but I don't have the knowledge to do this.
In the old Galaxy S2 it was simply a jpg file (called "logo.jpg"). I wish Samsung has kept it that simple!
Any developers out there wants to take this challenge?

Screen Recorder

Is there a way to run the LiniageOS Screen Recorder apk on a stock rooted Pixel rom? Is it allowed to be posted/shared, or is it even compatible with the Pixel stock rom? I used to have (what I am assuming was the LOS) recorder on my Sprint Note 4 on the EmotionOS Rom. I really liked how clean and simple it was. I know there are PlayStore apks, but I would like to be able to run that one on my Pixel.

It's been a few months and I don't have the Pixel anymore. I'm using the OP3T now. If I remember I tried to download a ROM and extract the recording APK, but I think it was maybe tied to the framework of the ROM. Don't remember. I know I didn't get it to work either way.
I ended up just using Rec. from the PlayStore.
