Hi,
Jelly Bean with the Nexus 5... Something is wrong here , you are in the N5 section...
I don't know which device you have... Test and see but first make a Nandroid backup...
I you have the path /system/media/bootanimation.zip it's ok, but maybe the flashable zip won't work (due to the updater.script)... So inside the zip file, copy the bootanimation.zip file to /system/media, set the correct permissions like the previous file or set to rw-r--r--), then reboot.

[I9003][MOD]Custom Boot Animation for GB - PC boot

Hi All,
I have modified this Boot animation for I9003 using files from one for SII. This is animation of PC booting also there is a audio file of booting.
This should work on all stock GB version but you need to be rooted. I have tested is for XXKPH
Follow the steps given below to use this animation.
1) Attached Zip file includs "CustomBoot.zip" which has 2 files in it.
bootanimation
samsungani
Copy these two files to "/system/bin" with Root Explorer Or ADB or File expert. These files must be Executable.
ie. Permission should be executable
rwx
r_x
r_x
(r=read, w=write, x= executable)
2) Copy the file "sanim.zip" to "/system/media"
3) Copy the file "PowerOn.wav" to "/system/etc"

Thanks to Animal Lover for his base files.

Hi There,
Great work, TQVM
I have sucessfully replace file, but Power On.wav is not working (mean no sound).
Any idea how to fixed?
Guys, don't get carried away by what you see on screen. The info you see is played from images, which is loaded into your custom boot animation. Its not real time info of the files being loaded from your mobile while booting..... That's not possible here. Its possible on pc.

That's true, These are just images (aprox 150 files) running at 30 images per second.
There are two bootanimations available on Android Market made by Chainfire which gives you actual log of boot. dont know exact names right now, But these give scroll of Dmsg and LogCat command at boot. Search for Chainfire in market and you can easily find it.

[BOOTANIMATION][SGT7] Androids on Tron Bikes

Here is a cool Bootanimation -- I don't know who I should give credit to. I extracted it from Galaxy Note - TeamRocket ROM.
I just modified some loops at the end and change the pixel resolution setting to 600x1024 for our G-Tab.
If anyone knows who we should give credit to please post.
Enjoy.
Note: Thanks to Sir Otto, we have a shorter version. Go to his post for download link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26798166&postcount=14
To change your bootanimation, you will need :
1. root access and Root Explorer, or CWM.
Method 1:
Simply go to /system/media, place the attached bootanimation.zip in the folder replacing the original one.
Note: Please don't forget to back up your old bootanimation just in case you don't like what you downloaded.
Method 2:
Flash zip file on 2nd post below (TronDroidBootanimation.zip) in CWM recovery mode.
Credits:
TeamRocket (Galaxy-Note ROM) -- I extracted from this rom.
ATGAdmin and Icy (Iconia A500) -- It w also the boot animation for his ROM
Sir Otto -- For editing it to make shorter version --Please hit the thanks button on his post!
CWM Flashable / Screenshots
Update: CWM flashable zip file; only work for non-stock ROM.
download below attached file to your sdcard,
reboot to CWM recovery,
flash the zip file,
Reboot.
Here are screenshots
This is very nice. Thanks!

This looks very cool on the old tab 7
My pleasure, but again any of you guys know who we should give credit to this beautiful boot animation, please let us know.
Please share if you have or know any cool boot animation. Thanks.
your Neo-Droid boot animation is very nice, but I have to say I'm going with this one, the Tron-Biker. Sorry bro.
There was a guy in the acer a500 and asus transformer prime forums that had this boot animation on his roms. He goes by the name ATGAdmin. He had the icylicious roms for those devices. Not sure if he is still on xda due to some disagreements he had with other developers and the mods.

Well there goes, at least partial credit (if it not the whole credit) goes to ATGAdmin and his Icylicious roms. Still not clear if he created the bootanimation or not but he used it about at the same time or a little earlier than TeamRocket for the Galaxy-NoteThanks for the info.
Excuse me, yappoe, but I found this boot animation quite long. Can I just remove some of the images in the zip folder in order to leave only the final part or would it cause terrible things like bricking my Galaxy Tab?
And if I manage to get it working, will you let me upload my "reduced" version here?

It's not going to get your Tab bricked, but it might make the bootanimation not functional (blank boot animation). Maybe Mr. Yappoe kind enough to release a shorter version.

[MOD]Bootanimation4U - Add custom bootanimation to any rom

This will add the ability to use a custom bootanimation on any rom with any kernel and probably any samsung device.
It has been tested on the Note II but should work with any samsung device that uses samsungani to load boot animations. If it doesn't work for you please post here.
Uses the typical settings bootanimation is at /system/media/bootanimation.zip, this is for those using a stock rom or a rom the dev didn't add it in.
I included the Google Gears bootanimation too. Flash the file in recovery. The attachment is a flashable zip not bootanimation.zip.
The updater-script uses busybox to mount the partitions, so if it doesn't flash correctly install busybox from an app on the play store then try again.
Edited the attachment, now includes the bootanimation binary just in case in bootanimation4u.zip, there is also another one named Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only that only edits samsungani.
If /system/bin/bootanimation exists flash the Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip
How to use:
Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery
If you want sound add an ogg file named PowerOn.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui, if sound doesn't work be sure /system/bin/samsungpowersoundplay exists if its there it will play sound if not its not included in your rom download it HERE then put it where it belongs and fix the perms which should be rwxr-xr-x
Reboot...Enjoy
Here is a method to get some bootanimations thanks to ReelFiles:
ReelFiles said:
Awesome!
1. Make a backup just in case.
2. Flash bootanimation4u.zip from recovery (I use TWRP).
3. Reboot and install Boot Animations Root from the Play Store.
4. Go into the app's preferences and change install location to /system/media/ and leave the default filename (bootanimation.zip) and go back to the main screen.
5. Select any bootanimation from the Server tab and hit Install. (Tablet ones at the bottom of the list look best.)
6. Select the installed bootanimation again and hit Resize. Set it to 720x1280 30FPS.
7. Tap the options key and select "Preview current" Make sure you like it and reboot.
I use the Tablet - Shatter one, it looks like the one from the Jedi Roms, but higher quality.
If you Preview a few different ones and then decide to use one you downloaded earlier, delete it first then install and resize it again, or the preview will just be a black screen and might not work at all.
I believe you can preview before installing the animation if you buy the Pro version.

Ok, so this will prevent the boot loop caused by adding bootanimation.zip's manually on samsung devices? (vzw gs3 running aosp).
Does the flash of your mod stick between rom flashes, or flash each time?
I don't thing it belongs to development, since the mod is already known and that's why i already posted something like this on General with both methods (manual and CWM)

It might or it might not be, I haven't seen the script in the zip file... but you can try, as I usually run custom roms then pretty much all of them have busybox already, if you don't have it, look in the Play Store for busybox and install it using the free version (you'll need root of course).

I've got a flashable Custom Bootanimation that i posted yesterday here:,
If you don't have custom recovery, or want to do it manually: extract the .zip file and go to system>media and copy the bootanimation.zip file to your phone and then use root explorer to move it to system>media. Then change the permissions to rw-r-r.
That's probably not a very good epxlanation, so here's a guide with pictures that explains it really well
I'll add more custom bootaniomations the next few days in the thread as I create them so keep checking back
Is this working without unlocked phone and root?

Sadly no, there's no way that I know of moving the files to the system file on the phone without root or a custom recovery.
