Hi,
I messed up. I used an IMEI changer to change my IMEI thinking it would just mask the number, it was advertised as so. I deleted the IMEI changer and now my IMEI shows as unknown in the settings and as blank when dialing *#06#
I still know my original IMEI and as of right now I can still send SMS and call people. I'm probably most likely fubar since I didn't make a back up of EFS, is there anything I can do though?
IMEI changer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-imei-changer-t2847187
Please ignore this thread. All I had to do was restart my phone after deleting IMEI changer, maybe twice or so.
How do I close my thread?
Mind me asking how you changed IMEI? I'm having issues with it...

I installed the app → activated it on Xposed and rebooted → went on the app and typed in a different number → pressed apply then I rebooted and it was changed.
Might I add that it never changed the actual IMEI, I think it just masked the real IMEI and showed the system a different one.

I've got a bit of a problem...
Start > Settings > |Personal| > Phone*
At the top of the screen there's the title "Phone - 0612945678"
That number is fictional, but the problem isn't. The number it's showing is not my number. It is *similar* to my other phone's number, but off by one digit.
My question is - how can I change the number that's shown there?
I did a quick search in the registry for "0612945678" (though the actual number shown, of course ), and it found nothing.
Any thoughts ?
this no is stored on th sim, you need to start sim manger, tools, list own numbers, then click on line1 and you should be able to edit it
this number is from the sim, but phone app does not always want to update is, especially with a sim-switcher this is noticable.

I have the same problem.
Sim Manager > Tools > List own numbers... => There is no item in the listbox here. Here is empty. No number to edit.
Still the default phone number in Phone Settings is different from my phone number? Any suggestions?
Hello,
Simple question...
not wifi will not send imei info
but in teory the mac address is also enuiq
Thanks for the reply...
I just got told from a custmer service person that if the IMEI number is blocked it will also stop it from even been turned onto its factory 'pda' mode to access details without a sim card!??
This phone is a Jasjam.
Can you make an emergency call without a SIM card? if so, chances are the IMEI is sent over while connected for emergency call. Howeve, I would guess that may probably on the other side of the network where not much attention is paid there.
I don't believe customer services on technical questions like.. 70% of the time. Some of they are just crap. From what I can think of, if your IMEI is blocked, you can still use the PDA as a PDA. There is a case here.. one of the thread.. where a guy found (as it lost by someone) a phone on block IMEI.. then used is as PDA (he cheekily ask if he can change his IMEI). Probably he got your phone?
I have been using a 4.2 rom (Rootbox) with APN settings from PureTalk (see Android settings). Talk, text, and data all work as they should. Whenever I use any 4.3 rom (I've tried Revolt, PAC, and Carbon) and enter the exact same APN settings, I cannot send outgoing text messages. I can receive texts, send and receive MMS, make and receive phone calls and utilize data, but outgoing SMS just will not work. Whenever I send an outgoing SMS, message details indicate an error code of -1. I have researched and tried various methods, but I believe the culprit lies in the APN settings. My research has shown that it may be possible that I need to put something in the following fields in order for SMS to work:
MVNO Type
MVNO Value
However, PureTalk does not have these settings (presently), and they weren't needed (and also wasn't an option) on the 4.2 roms I've used and everything worked as it should. I have tried various settings in both fields (such as selecting IMSI for MVNO Type and leaving the default MVNO Value, in addition to trying different values I found around the Internet), but to no avail. I also read that the SMS gateway could be incorrectly figured or the apn.conf is not saving information correctly. I went into Phone Information under the hidden menu and refreshed the SMSC field and rebooted, I've tried rebooting after putting in the APN settings, turning off the radio, etc. I am at a complete loss as to what to try next. Can someone please assist me or tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank You.
GSM SMS
Upon searching more on the forums....it seems the culprit might have something to do with the phone number displaying as 'Unknown'. If the phone number was displayed, the SMS msgs could send based off the phone number in the phone because the system would know where they're originating from. However I've tried CM 4.3 and PAC 4.3 and cannot get into the GSM call settings, they are blacked out.
Unknown Phone Number
Does anyone know how to alter the phone number under Settings>About Phone>Status? I tried downloading the app My Phone Number from the market, but it won't install for some reason. I also cannot access GSM settings under Phone>Settings>GSM Call Settings (on all 4.3 roms I've tried), the option is there, but it won't allow me to select it. The phone number shows just fine without prior programming on a 4.2 rom.
If your Phone Number is showing up as Unknown, do you happen to have your IMEI? You might have lost it in the flash process. You can check it by either *#*#4636#*#* or *#06# and going to Phone Information and making sure it is the same as the number behind your battery. If you don't have one you have a different issue.

Yes, the IMEI shows on both 4.2 and 4.3. The phone number only says unknown on 4.3, not on 4.2. At this point, I don't know what else to try....

Hi,
If you had lost your IMEI you could not make calls or SMS... EDIT: ok, IMEI is fine.
Check your APN settings in Settings/More/Mobile networks/Access Point Names.

Hmm, at this point multiple things...
Is the APN selected is the one used from your carrier? If yes the settings are correct (just in case)?
Have you network coverage (how is the signal, have you a edge/2G/3G and so on icons, bars)?
What happens when you try to use the browser or whatever (an error message)?
Could you test your SIM card in another phone?
@s-essa, try to add it manually depending of your carrier (maybe call them or take a look on the web for the settings), always in Settings/More/Mobile networks/Access Point Names and click on the little cross surrounded and don't forget to save.

Yes i have bars but i have no icons saying 3g or 4g....
when i try to use the browser it just doesnt load and said that i have no internet connection.
I entered it manually. i got the details off the website for my carrier.. and i did click save.
Does it take time to activate ? So after i enter it and save it and select it... how long until my internet will start working if what i did was correct?

I see that you found the IMEI sticker on the sticker - but does your phone (software) also show that same IMEI?

never mind - since you can make calls, that doesn't matter
My phone has stopped logging to mobile network recently and I have found out it has incorrect IMEI number: 350000000000006.
I would like to change it to the correct number that is printed on the phone cover.
I have rooted the phone, installed Xposed and Device ID Changer Pro. The app says the number has been modified and displays correct one, but when I use *#06# it still displays incorrect IMEI as above. Also logging to mobile networks is still not active.
The phone is Galaxy S6, Android 7.0. It has been purchased some 2 years ago as used phone. I suppose I should contact the seller but I don't think I can reach him any more.
Does anybody know why there is mismatch between what Device ID Changer shows compared to *#06#?
Take note that Android's Device ID ( to be correct: ANDROID_ID ) isn't same as IMEI: 2 totally different things.
FYI:
Android_ID is a 64-bit quantity that is generated and stored when the device first boots. ANDROID_ID is not unique for an Android device, it even can be NULL.
The IMEI number is your Android device's own identification number - what contains origin, model, and serial number. There isn't one device that has the same IMEI number as another device

I understand that. Device ID changer gives an option to update both, and a few more.
One more question: should I be able to request Samsung to revert the IMEI to the original one?
No.
You can't fix IMEI using the app.
You can just spoof ID using the app.
