Best non root ad blocker? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

So, self explanatory question, but what's the best ad block for non rooted phones?
I use AdGuard, but the battery usage is a little much, so I want one that is better for battery
Any help would be great, thank you!

Anyone using this on a Desire S think that it does make much of a difference to the battery?

I use Tasker which can do everything juice defender does and more, but yes, it does help if your phone goes into airplane mode over night, and auto switch off wifi when you leave home.

I bought tasker after reading wnp_79's description of it within his guide and have never regretted spending the money for a minute!
wnp_79 and ben_pyett ,you've convinced me ,gonna get Tasker
I'm using a free version, and it definetly improves battery life
Am using the ultimate version and not much difference

Yes but not a huge amount. I found I used 20-30% battery per day with it turned on so I saved maybe 10%.

Tasker also adds all the additional automation functionally, saving you tine and effort which is far more important

Sure, it probably won't help with battery life much though.

I disagree, tasker automates my use of my radios and sync' ing depending on location, time and date (thanks wnp_79), so it will not just save you some battery but also data which is just as important if you're on a limited data plan.

K Guys Have a bit of OS knowledge and stuff...
So all I can say juice defender or tasker won't save battery...they would just automate things better...
So if you shut wifi evrytime you finish with its use and blah blah other such things...
It won't help a bit...
Else if you forget and stuff...then you would see improvement...
Thats the fact...So if you use your cell efficiently you won't need it...

Usage:
1. Requires Root.
2. After installing app, a shortcut called "Toggle ALS" will be created.
3. Click on "Toggle ALS" to toggle between disabling and enabling the light sensor.
Compatibility:
Xperia Play
Xperia Mini Pro
Xperia Neo
Please post all questions, comments, bugs, and requests in this thread.
If this application works for you and it is not in the "compatibility" list, I would appreciate if you let me know in this post so I can update the list.
Thank You!
Think you can make a hack to make the Xperia Plays screens super bright and well in the sun? A hack+ this app would be nice?. Wouldn't mind paying for a brighter screen
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?

I've tried but there is nothing I can do. Maybe a kernel / ROM dev can do this?
By the way, have you tried the app?
Good idea
This app should be free. Like the Camera Mod apps.
Well dude, i bought your app because you solved the only major problem that i had with this phone. And you deserve credit for actually giving a "flying sh**" when other devs didnt care..
Im gonna try this app with more time when i arrive home, for now it worked fine
i tested on a Xperia play R800i.
Thanks

hatcyl, you are great man!I want to buy your app,but I can not buy this app in China!because it is not support pay the money way!can you post this app to my email:[email protected],I really need this!thank you!!!
great idea, kudos to the dev!
but then why not make this like SetCPU in which the free (BUT FULL) version is for XDA members only and a paid version will always be posted at the market? Makes sense, eh?
SetCPU is a universal app, usable by lots of people who are not in XDA. This, on the other hand, is a small modification on one single device. Most people who are aware of it are in XDA anyways. Making it free for XDA members kills the point of charging for it.
Those of you who want the functionality for free should follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085086
Or use my ROM which has it integrated into the startup scripts.
But don't deride this guy for wanting to be paid for his time.

^ well please don't give me statistics, i'm just like "comparing" you know.. sort of what ifs only..mere comparison
i'll buy it anyway, it's indispensable..
As I said before, it's worth it.. enjoying the full potential brightness of my phone w/o environment condition..
we all have reasons. please bear with me or so

Anyone want my coupon code for $50 off an Honor 8?

I won a coupon code for $50 off purchasing an Honor 8 through the Honor online store, but I don't need it since I already have an Honor 8. Thought I'd ask if anyone here could use it. First come, first serve.

Thanks. I'm glad somebody here wanted it and got to use it, rather than have it just go to waste.
It's been running great for me. It's really a surprisingly awesome phone, especially for the price. I can understand why "Android purists" may not like EMUI, but you can really mask a good chunk of that between using both a theme and a third party launcher.
And no, I didn't root mine. Don't really have a need for root anymore these days, thanks to Adguard. (Previously, AdAway was the only thing left that kept me rooting my phones).

It blocks ads in Web browsers and apps on Android. And it works just as well as AdAway, from my experience.
https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/overview.html
Blocking ads is the only thing I was still rooting my phones for in the past, but with Adguard that's no longer necessary (for me anyway).

Ohh that's great thank you, I ll make some researches about it.
By editing the host file, I could ban some sites & make the default sites allowed; is there an opposite way? i.e. block all the sites by default & allow a few..
