Latest TWRP for L09 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi, could anyone refer me the latest twrp and adb files that will work on my FRD L09 B385?
I've tried installing twrp 3.0.3 last time. After rebooting to recovery the screen kinda got stuck saying - your device is rooted and cant be trusted
Your device is booting now....
I had to restart the phone then.
sorry for noob question.

Yes i did . I've installed twrp before too. But restoring from twrp caused my system setting not work so i flashed update.zip and other file to go back to stock recovery i guess. I lost twrp recovery that way.

My phone is working fine with unlocked bootloader. Except flashing twrp didn't work. Volume up+power doesn't get me to recovery. Now since the oem unlocked option is grayed out i cant decide whether i should flash twrp 3.1.1 or not?

Custom Unlocked Lock Icon On Start Up and OTA Updates

Okay, so I recently noticed that there was an icon that said "Custom" and it was an unlocked lock on my start up. And, when I try to do an OTA update, it fails. I even flashed the stock recovery. And, when I try to install custom ROM's, it says something like "Error 7, installation aborted."

Well i'm almost 100% sure that all roms now require an unlocked bootloader, so by unlocking it and flashing a custom recovery you should be able to flash roms and it'll make the custom icon go away as well.

that would be safe general rule now, do all your backing up, flashing, etc, by manually booting into recovery first, that's the only sure fire way to make sure it gets flashed on okay. I don't even keep rom manager on my phone anymore and i used to use it religiously on previous phones.

You have to flash a transitional package. Check hihonor.com. They may have a package to downgrade.
http://m.huawei.com/mymobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
I found a transitional package here.
Download, extract to get dload folder containing UPDATE.APP
copy dload folder to the root of your SD card, insert SD card in your phone.
Turn off the phone, press and hold power+vol up + vol down until the phone starts, let go of power but keep pressing the other two for about 5 sec more.
Your phone will enter a forced update and will transition from Android marshmallow to Android lollipop.

There is a tool mentioned in the thread below

Turn off your phone, press and hold vol up + vol down + power.

I apologize, I answer so many posts that I don't remember individual problems. My bad.
First you need to replace twrp with the stock recovery (download the firmware you are using now, extract to get UPDATE.APP, use Huawei update extractor to open UPDATE.APP and you will see many images, right click recovery and extract to platform-tools folder and then flash it using fastboot).
Then copy the dload folder of first transition package to SD, do three button as described above.
Then copy the dload folder of second transition package to SD and do the three button method.

android pay and root?

Hi everyone,. I have unlocked rooted FRD-L04 model. Is there a way to use Android pay afterwards. I've tried magisk but I take it none of our root methods were systemless? If there is no way, would anyone mind pointing me to the right place for unrooting and relocking my bootloader.
Thanks a bunch and apologize before hand if this has already been asked(most likely yes)

Have you tried using the volume up key for 3 seconds when you reboot or power up when you get untrusted message? That should bring up the Honor recovery and let you download the latest firmware and your phone should like right out of the box after its done. You will lose all your data on the phone itself but the bootloader will be locked.

Android Pay and Unlocked bootloader or rooted devices is a lost cause I'm afraid. As soon as a method is designed (ala systemless root), Google is patching a fix.

[Completed] Rooted but no supersu

Greetings XDA
I have a rooted samsung galaxy s6 edge(At&t) version lollipop 5.1.1 that i rooted with Odin.
I have no custom recovery installed and my problem is that supersu does not work, it says that su binary need to be updated.
After searching google i could not find a recovery.img for my specific model number SM-G925A.
I need help if there is a way i can install a custom recovery or how to update su binary so i can grant root access to apps.
By the way i am a newbie in the rooting world.. so simple answers will be appreciated!
Regards

I meant that you can try to place su binary in appropriate place manually and give permissions. See this tutorial for manual install section https://github.com/koush/Superuser/issues/216#issuecomment-38354585
If this not helped you need to reroot your device. Unfortunately, I do not know the other options, it is a pity that you have no custom recovery.
