Bricked Xoom device? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I think I messed up my MZ604 Wi-Fi only Xoom. There is no System on it, I am using TWRP 2630, and when I try to flash it with a new rom, it says Unable to mount system. I cannot do anything with it because its keep saying this. I tried to wipe system, format data but nothing. When I try to mount system in the mount option, The blue "x" is not coming next to the system. In the backup option I can also see that there is nothing in the system (System (0MB)).
Can someone help me with this or I can throw it out in the trash?
Thanks,
Frank

The problem is that my PC won't recognize the tablet when I connect it with USB. I installed the required driver also. I am reading the tutorials and it says that the tablet should be in "RSD protocol" mode which I selected but the software cannot get any information from the connected device. FYI, in TWRP recovery, the USB connect does not work also. Any guess? Also, the USB cable definetly work, not just a charging cable.

I've done it! The solution was the stock rom and flashed with fastboot. No twrp, no cwm, no rsdlite.

Hold the Power button and Vol- button in till it stops flashing then let go of the power button for sec and press again then wait a few secends and the bootloader should show up. Now you should be able to use the toolkit again first thing you want to do is flash TWRP recovery and then use it again to flash the boot.img from the rom you want to use then reboot into recovery and you should be able to mount SD now, copy over the rom then factory reset and wipe system and then install rom.
Oh ,CWM recovery isn't support mount USB

You'd better using TWRP recovery,it's prefect..
if you can't mount usb or sdcard then the only fix that doesn't involve using linux hackery is to read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...OW-TO] Fix soft brick & error mounting sdcard
you need to go back to stock recovery wipe sdcard everything your gonna lose everything and then after you successfully get control of sdcard you flash new recovery use twrp (I wouldn't trust cwm if I was paid to) and that's the fix. happy hacking

I think he cant mount SD is because CWM cant do it but TWRP can.
I've been there more than I like to admit..it's what made me vow never to buy htc

If you use cwm recovery, not twrp, then it's normal that you can't mount your sdcard onto your PC over USB. This is not a problem, as long as you can mount your sdcard onto your root filesystem. You can still adb push/pull files to/from the device. If not, you have the 'unmountable sdcard' and you should follow the sticky in Q&A on this issue.
However, it is scary that you can not get into bootloader/fastboot mode. This means you can't change recoveries and, depending on your hboot, change boot images and radios.
Try unplugging the device before you boot into bootloader using the vol-down key. If you have it plugged in, cwm will boot into recovery as soon as you power down.

I must agree with many of the posts here.
Go into fastboot usb, and flash the latest TWRP recovery instead of clockwork mod.
After having gone TWRP, I dont look back. You have many more features than in clockwork, including a USB mount of the internal sd card. You can also use adb tools in twrp too.
After mounting your sdcard, you can then transfer a rom over and then install using twrp too.
If your sd card is corrupted (ie will not mount, cannot access, etc), then you may need to flash the stock recovery and then in the bootloader redo a factory reset. There is a thread about this somewhere, as the stock recovery can reformat your sd card partition if its corrupted or wont mount with other custom recoverys.

[Q] Help with weird brick?

I was working on porting Android 4.2 and flashed my work. Unfortunately it didn't boot. I am currently using this version of CWM recovery. I had another kernel sitting on my internal SD to flash. Unfortunately in an attempt to get it to boot I wiped /data, which includes the internal SD. My recovery doesn't appear to read external storage. Another unfortunate thing is that usb connection hasn't worked in quite a long time. It doesn't show up under lsusb, no matter what mode I have the tablet in. All I have access to is that version of CWM recovery.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks for reading.
Have you considered reflashing the whole image using NVFlash in APX mode?

HI XDA,
After flashing a early version of sense 5 rom for my phone, twrp doesnt install any other roms. And after accidentally deleting my back ups, i cleared my rom and now I have no OS. To make it worse, my phone doesnt connect to the computer so i cant load any other rom on. I NEED HELP PLEASE ASAP
What version of TWRP are you using?
Also, you need to work out why the pc can't see your device. Did you factory reset in bootloader?
Sent from my Evita
Okay i have twrp 2.3.1 and after doing factory reset, my sdcard wont mount and it is still not recognized in the pc
Go into recovery, connect your phone to pc, select mount usb storage, find it in my computer on your pc, format it to fat32 format. Now it will be usable again.

Great! it worked. Now my next problem is I can't flash any JB rom it seems like. I always get a failed error. I flashed a PA Android rom from 2012 and it worked however the rom itself was completely unable to use. The keyboard didn't work, the hardkeys didn't work.
What hboot version is your phone on?

If you have an otg usb cable you can mount it with twrp and install a rom from a usb stick, otherwise install wug's toolkit and go through the driver install process http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517778

yes give him a toolkit when he has no idea whats going on. perfect solution.
OP,
you will never be able to mount the sdcard as it is a unified storage system. get adb working in your custom recovery and push the file over OR get fastboot working and fastboot flash the stock rom.

LOL ... I meant to FYI ! your post but ended up clicking the "thanks button"
yes the SDCard IS the internal storage ...etc
But..the OP is talking about USB storage access ( yes, you can mount external card/stick with the help of an OTG adapter/cable and flash a rom ) ... I've done it after wiping EVERYTHING on the list ( complete blank except for radio and bootloader.)
I'm also able to do a nandroid to the external card via this method ( after mounting USB-OTG through TWRP...make sure to select which memory...etc )

That toolkit has a very thorough and detailed process of uninstalling/installing usb drivers which is what he seems to need right now, telling him "get abd/fastboot working" doesn't help.
My adb is working I think I entered the command when trying to push. I didn't have the drivers correct for when in recovery. The driver only worked for the fastboot I didn't get a reply quick enough cause I'm impatient ended up finding wugs toolkit and got the correct drivers flashed back to stock now running carbon. thanks for helping though gave you all some thanks. Can anyone reccomend some cool stuff for my phone I'm not exactly new to the scene but I'm also not super experienced. Would really like to get wireless display working it just reboots my phone on carbon. Would like something like dirty unicorn or something with crazy unnecessary features but didn't see anything like that.

twrp or CWM saying cant mount any partition TF300T

hELLO,
I tried installing twp and cwm versions from xda/twrp.me/cwm website for T300T and flashed them successfully from FASTBOOT but after I boot into recovery and then, when I try to wipe data/ factory reset, do anything in twrp or CWM, I get error "unable to mount /system /cache/ and every other partition, so I can not flash anything, can not mount any partition or sdcard or emmc or anything and can not copy flash files into tablet from PC while in TWRP CWM or external SDcard. I already enabled USB debugging and everything else in tablet settings but I am unable to mount anything or format anything from TWRP or CWM.
TWRP shows internal memory as 00mb :S
HOw to get pass that error "unable to mount" ??
how to mount so that I can flash custom roms/

If your fastboot still works, please try Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479.
if the other recovery does not work, you would probably need to reflash stock rom from the asus website, this is due to recovery not being able to identify the partitions without a full boot, if you wiped it from bootloader the whole partition table is messed up and you want to reflash that by using the stock rom. If you need any help on that just pm me.
I have the exact same problem. Not sure about fastboot as so far it has not installed anything. I have twrp 2.5.0.0 .... adb does function and have actually installed KK 6.0 and works fine, but on restart it is back to recovery and no OS.Any help appreciated.
using fastboot all I get is waiting on device and a blinkng cursor.
How can I get Kang twrp on the tf300 with adb commands?
Sorry to sort of hi-jack the OP thread, but my problem is very similar. Here is where I am now tablet sitting at Starting fastboot usb download protocol ... 3 icons with RCK blinking. I ran the following From my sdk platform tools folder.
adb reboot bootloader
it was followed by;
" daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037"
"daemon started successfully"
I then ran the following:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp_tf300t_kang_2.8.7.2.img
it was followed by:
sending 'recovery' (7126 kb)...
followed by a white blinking cursor and it just sits there,
Same results if I run it all the same except substituting the blob file instead of the img file.any ideas?
Many Thanks
Many Thanks, go out to gs-crash-24-7 as well to the forums here at XDA, I now have my tf 300 back up and running on the stock JB 4.2.1 rom. Still isn't recognizing my Micro SD card, but that is a problem I think should be easier to solve.
Again, many thanks all.
Took forever to get it to be recognized as a fastboot device with windows 10, but once that happened ( I won't lie, I erased everything many times) well that and me switching to a little 3 ft cord (after so many attemps at adb>fastboot flash staging blob) it is going for now.
Good advice below if your TF300T seems bricked.

Man was I ever wrong about that statement .... still no success getting the tablet to once again recognize external storage at all.
If anyone can help me with the MicroSD/External Storage not being recognized problem, please take a look here.
Thank you all, its all good and working now with recovery file you posted above.
