Hi everyone,
I have a XZ dual sim HK version and because HK was lagging so far behind everyone else on updates, I decided to flash the Thailand firmware and also root the phone.
The problem is that ever since I flashed the Thailand firmware, my cell phone signal has been abysmal. Whereas before I used to get 2-3 bars easily, now it almost never goes past 1 bar and it's just destroying my battery too.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can fix this issue?

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a Tinji GT-i9300 4.7" S3 clone phone with Android 4.1.1 and Kernel 3.0.13
It all works fine apart from the signal/service freezes all the time. The signal will freeze with-say showing 4 bars even though I'm now in a no-signal area, I could even put it in a lead box and the signal indicator would still be stuck on 4 bars. When it freezes, I loose all service, even if I'm in a strong signal area. It might be something to do with when it's been sleeping for a while. I can get the service back by selecting Airplane mode and then unselecting it.
I've tried different SIMs from different providers, but they all act the same.
I've tried the obvious, like reset to factory. And I've google'd for ages, trying to find an answer.
Does anyone have any ideas or a later firmware that I can try? or do I send the phone back to China?
Thanks for looking.
Just some extra information
Just some extra information:
I have stopped the phone from going to sleep and have adjusted the CPU (I had to root the phone) to not drop down low, and it's not lost the service for hours. I will experiment more to find out if it's the sleeping or the CPU speed dropping that is causing this problem.
I believe this is quite a common issue on many android phones.
I FIXED THIS PROMBLEM!!!!!
This probably isn't going to be the answer for most of you but it worked for me. I tried all of the suggested fixes first and had tried 3 different SIMs and my phone still had the radio service freeze.
Yesterday I went into the EE (Orange) shop and got a brand-new SIM and now my phone works perfect and even the signal strength is a lot better.
Try getting a new SIM, it MIGHT FIX your problems. GL
Hi
I got my nexus 5 last year around December. I live in UK but got the phone from USA. I have loved it to bits until last week when all of a sudden my network reception indoor has gone almost zero actually mostly I am on emergency calls.
I face this issue at work and also at home, I had tried the following steps to troubleshoot the issue but no luck at all.
1) My colleague at work has the same phone as me and is on the same network as me (EE uk) So I tried my sim in his phone and his in mine. With my sim in his phone he got decent reception almost 4 bars whereas his sim card in my phone produces the same disappointing results, Zero network reception and emergency call. This obviously proved that something is wrong with the phone.
2) I unlocked and rooted the device and tried all the modem versions out there for nexus 5 and no luck with the reception.
3) I installed a custom ROM hoping this might solve the issue but again I was left disappointed.
4) I flashed stock and unrooted the device and downgraded the 4.4.2 to 4.4.0 hoping maybe if the new sw version caused this issue it should revert back, but again nothing.
5) I have now oem locked the device back to original state with 4.4.2 on it
6) I rang google UK and the guys was very helpful but useless at the same time as he asked me to take the sim card out give it a wipe all the basic troubleshooting I tried already. He then mentioned as I got the phone from US he can't help me with a replacement and the phone will have to be dealt with US google. He asked me to call LG UK as they should cover worldwide warranty.
So I rang LG UK and got more or less the same answer from them as they also only cover UK bought devices.
I have run out of ideas and I can't seem to find a fault in the software of the phone, I get decent signal strength outside my house and only struggle indoors. I would greatly appreciate some help with this.
Thanks in advance
Asim
After flashing CM12 on my nexus 5 (D821). I flashed the 20 jan Nightly and everything was working fine untill i update to the 22nd jan nightly when my 3g simply stopped connecting or had very spotty signal, i didn't give it much thought at first thinking it was a nightly problem but after one week i reflashed stock lollipop, locked the bootloader, even tried kit-kat and the problem is still there. Before flashing cm 12 2g/3g/lte switching was working perfectly for about one year.
So utill now: i flashed different stock rom's, different kernels, radios, custom roms and nothing worked. When i tried switching the sim with another one from the same network, 3g worked on the other phone so i doubt that the sim is defective, but on my nexus i had the same connectivity issues. I also played with the *#*#4636#*#* menu and managed to get 4G working again but only in CDMA mode and I cannot receive any calls or texts, but the internet connection is working, 3G also connected at some point but the signal was very poor.
I am lost now, and also desperate because edge is too slow for anything. What confuses me though is that this seems to be a software issue since the cause was me flashing a different ROM but all the signs point to a hardware issue.
Can anyone plese give me a second opinion? Is there any fix for this? (Also i recently went to my network's service to replace my screen assembly, could also this be an issue? the issue appeared about 2 days after getting it back from them, also about the same time i flashed cm12)
Thank you for your time.
Also another thing i just noticed:
I opened my phone's back cover and the writing on the frame covering the motherboard says D820 and in the bootloader my phone shows as D821. Is this common for every D821 model?
I started to wonder if i got all my components back from the phone service... Although it's highly unlikely that they mingled with the motherboard since everything that i had on my phone was still there (custom ROM and all my personal info) maybe they switched the antennas...
Is the antenna connected?
Im going with disconnected antenna as well.
I have this problem with my Z3. I commute to school by train and every now and then I lose signal because of tunnels etc. But the phone is having a hard time recovering signal. Sometimes I have to reboot. Sometimes theres the red X on the SIM icon but usally it's just that there's good signal strenght but no data connection. Other times a reboot doesn't solve it instantly and I'll just have to wait. Or I have to go and manually select my carrier (Tele 2, Sweden) but it doesn't work all the time either. So there's no consistent fix.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem? On my way home 2 stops before mine there's a tunnel where you always lose reception and sometimes I can't even recover it before I get of the train 10 minutes later in an area where you normally have full reception.
I've got a D6603, rooted .77 (PRFCreator). The problem started occuring before rooting. Can't remember if it was before updating to .77 (Had .77, downgraded for root then upgraded again). Carrier is Tele 2 in Sweden.

I also have this issue, when I switch to CM12, the signal back. I don't know why my D5563 can't get data traffic from stock ROM :crying:
I have the same issue but with calls. If my signal is low and I try calling someone no one can hear me and it drops. I am on Telus, stock generic firmware. Going to try reinstalling it once the files finish redownloading.
Hi
My girlfriend also owns a oneplus one. She had the screen repaired, since then she doesn't have signal all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. She tried to fix it with another sim but no effect. But last week we went abroad twice and when we were abroad she had signal all the time, and as soon as we got back in Belgium she lost signal again. Now since a day or 2 she has even less signal and she can't send messages or call even with signal.
Just adding that I also own a oneplus and I use the same provider and I have signal everywhere and I have no issues at all.
Anybody that has a solution or might know what the problem is?
Thanks in advance
Anthony
