First of all flash twrp 3.1.1-1 from one of the threads. You can flash it from your current twrp. Then google supersu 2.82 emui 5. You'll find a thread in the huawei p9 section of xdaforums and flash that. Its modified to work with emui. Then you're good to go

I solved, I installed twrp 3.0.2 and I flashed supersu r275 and I installed from google store phh supersu and now it s rooted

Good, does it work properly?!

Please update it to 3.1.1-1, some bugs are fixed on that version.

U need a specific version of supersu to have rooted perfect

Yes , that supersu is separately build for emui . If u can be of some help . U can make a guide for rooting just on emui

Not mine my frn. It was build by an other dev. Search can help u .

You can actually use the latest SuperSU but first install the latest TWRP. It will work. The problem is that the vendor partition is unmounted by default. With the latest TWRP, the vendor is always mounted.

You can. Just backup your stock recovery and stock boot image before your root. If you want to receive OTAs again, just restore those two then uninstall your root app.

No. TWRP is not enough. We need kernel source from Huawei for that.

Kernel source might be different, since some specs are different,
Because if we only consider chipset, one from P10 should work as well. Since both using Kirin 960

Nothing. They would stop developing for a certain device. Look at Honor 6X. They built LOS13 but unstable, and did not go on to LOS14. It is extremely hard and time consuming, if not impossible, to develop for it.

I just executed the installer. But unlike stated in the OP the installed TWRP version is 3.1.0.0. Unfortunately this version doesn't seem to work (None of the partitions can be mounted) and it is really hard to boot back to system as most tries to reboot the device end up in TWRP again. Only booting into bootloader and reboot from there resulted in a normal boot up for me.

how to root huawei gr5 2017 bll-l21 nogut ??

hi there , i was update my gr5 2017 to nogut , and i unlock the bootloader , but i didn't find recovery to install it on my phone , i have twrp for honor 6x with 4.1 emui but when i try to install it via fastboot i got on my pc (cmd) finished but nothing happen on the phone , and when i try to open recovery via (power button and voulme up ) i got "your device is booting now ... , and stay on these screen . plaese help me and sorry about my english.. .
We're here to help man, but as general rules recommend, i take the chance to invite you to read, read, read and read again before doing something. This time the only thing you've got is the missed boot to android, but one false step and you could even face something much worse like a soft/hard brick, especially now with TWRP 3.1.0 since it is possible to flash even other partitions, and not just recovery. Search button can let you preserve many time anyway. If you was on EMUI 4 with a TWRP made for EMUI 4, and you updated to EMUI 5, obviously this TWRP could never works on EMUI 5.

No "stay awake" with face recognition after root

Hi guys,
after unlocking bootloader and rooting my Honor View 10
it seems that the phone does not keep itself awake
when i'm looking at it, like it used to do before rooting.
It was such a super helpful feature :crying:
Is this caused by rooting process,
and anyone else experiencing the same issue?
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply,
fortunately I had the official 141 update available (I was on 140)
So I ended up flashing the official recovery and just launched the full update from the settings.
Then reinstalled custom TWRP and Magisk and now all is working fine.
However will save and keep in mind the method you suggested for future reference, that would be perfect if no official updates are available for restoring.
Thanks again mate!

First of all. Every ROM out there can be rooted. And secondly, you need to have stock EMUI 8. Follow the instructions in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/stable-pie-rom-honor-6x-t3863562
For ROM use RROS ZIP and for recovery use this.
