To band-aid this issue, go to Galaxy Apps - 3 Dots Menu - Settings - Disable "Show updates on notification panel", if that doesn't work then disable "Auto Update Apps" as well.
Hope this helps

I am getting an error when trying to install the new Contacts APK, "App not installed, the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name"
Any help would be appreciated.

You want to install the enhanced features apk not the contacts and ok
http://www.apkmirror.com/wp-content/themes/APKMirror/download.php?id=233358
the error was Samsung. there was no update. it was a false positive error on Samsung part. i called them.
So whatever the issue was, it resolved itself. However, because of this issue, I've noticed certain Samsung apps are not the most current although my device says it's "up to date" .
Example, I noticed my Samsung Contacts app says it's up to date running 3.1.08.15 . Now on Apkmirror it showed the latest as 3.1.15.1.
I flushed the Galaxy apps app, made no difference. What are u guys on the At&T variant running ? Wondering if it's just me .... thanks.

Apk mirror has the newest version always. Those updated are ones Samsung just hasn't pushed to your device yet. Most of them are perfectly safe for you to install

Samsung Enhanced Features update notification message
Here is the way I fixed this issue:
Why not do what I did, go into settings/system apps and find "enhanced features" and disable and stop it from running.
Before I done that I got a notification about updating the enhanced features every single time I rebooted the phone.
As soon as I disabled it and rebooted the phone I no longer have that popup notification in the notification screen
about "enhanced features".
Good luck, have a great day!
They did away with Advanced Messaging also on the S8 & S8+ BUMMER!!!!!! Bixby is a bunch of Junk. Did not activate it on mine.

So I was checking out the new GpsRestore app on the market when I noticed that Samsung Mobile also has published a Camera firmware installer app for the AT&T Captivate. Has anyone tried this out? It doesn't really list what changes were made.
I run it and it says my firmware is current.
I downloaded it and it installed something LOL. I'm running Captivate 2.3b6
I installed it as well, but I haven't noticed any differences...
Does anyone know the changelog?
I sent a message to samsung support and they are checking. The market says v10.9.07 and when i installed it, app manager took my camera firmware from v1 to v2. Something changed, but the menus look the same to me. So no idea.
It got removed off the market?

I checked the app list after finding the gpsrestore one and other than the one i found immediately the rest are marked internal use only. Why stick up internal apps to the marketplace?

Probably because they want an easy way for testers to test fixes without enabling sideloading or teaching people how to sideload.
Camera firmware
I installed the firmware, and now my camera no longer works. It loads, but when I try to take a pic, it says "camera failed", and then closes the camera app. I checked my software, (fring is not installed), I am running Cog 2.3b6 ROM.
Teach me to jump on something... lol
EDIT: Flashed my ROM to Perception Build 5, camera works again... Cleared cache at the same time...
hello. hopefully posted in the right spot, but unsure if anyone has seen this issue... there was an update recently for the play store, so i did an upgrade, and now getting the nagging sign in error for gmail associated with this phone.
entering my pw does nothing. it just comes back almost instantly to reenter pw again.
i did a kill this to see what or where the message was coming from... what it killed was the google services framework, so its not a fake... but... wanted to see if anyone's seen this, and if there's a fix...
i'm on a droid 3 rooted, debloated, and that's all thats been done..
playstore is at 3.5.19 and gsframework is at 2.3.7
thanks.

your phone is rooted and cleaned (no bloatware) but how did you do that by flashing a custom rom or made by yourself
if made by yourself I suggest to delete playstore directly (use Root Explorer etc) and install from sdcard a new playstore you can find it by Google do not forget to activate "unknown sources" in menu/applications before to install new playstore form sdcard
another solution is to get stock rom and flash it then update playstore in this case all things should go if not there is a compatibility problem -last version of playstore is not compatible with your phone/OS

**UPDATE**
This morning while browsing androidpolice, saw an app i wanted to try out (Google+ Analytics) ... so I tried to do it via the playstore on PC.. guess what? My Droid 3 was delisted from the account. How and why? I scanned the QR code that went directly to the Analytics app on PLaystore on my Droid 3, and installed successfully - it even lists Analytics on the PC view of the play store's "My Orders".
I was comparing the differences between my phone and my wife's Rezound, and I did notice one thing so far.. we both had the Droid Eris, and she had the Rezound now. Her Rezound listed verizon as the carrier, but on my account my Eris was oddly listed as verizon... and my Droid 3 not on the list at all!
Anyways, there's a link there for people who "Don't see your device?" question.. link is: http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1146414 ...
it states they are merging the personal google account with the google app account which may cause issues...
Now, is anyone having this issue at all? Google notes that this falls under a few percentages of users only ;\
mmm i probably won't go that route yet.

after googling a few, and finding more info, it ended up being a sync issue between the google servers - since the phone was registered to an gmail account that was made prior to whatever is being merged at this time, it messed up the sync. the error is gone now, and my phone is now re-listed in the devices list in the play store settings tab.
yay.

It's almost a nightmare.
Now and then I see a "1" on the samsung apps icon.
That should mean that 1 app (previously downloaded from Samsung App) has been updated and I could update it through Samsung Apps in the page of my downloaded files.
That's how it should work.
Recently I've been receiving these kind of notification also for apps that I never downloaded from Samsung Apps and that so didn't show up on my downloaded files. With some luck I discovered that some of these updates where referred to pre-installed apps on my GNote 10.1 such as Polaris Office and PS Touch: searching for these apps and opening their page I could see the "update" button.
But for the last update notification I don't know where to look.
It seems that something is missing in Samsung Apps. They tell you that you have an update but they don't tell you what update you have, and there's no way to find out and trig the update.
Any suggestion?

same here... trued all possible pre-installed apps, but nothing...
in addition I also had a PS Touch update that was not notified...
personally I have disabled most of the samsung apps (like the Hubs) but I will keep Samsung Apps cos I like both Poalris and PS Touch
I've finally found out the mysterious app that was notified (as updated) but wasn't showed in my page od Samsung Apps.
It's Papyrus.
Strange thing is that this is not a pre-installed app.
It's actually present in both Google Play and Samsung Apps.
I think I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago from Google Play (but I'm not sure about that, maybe I downloaded it from Samsung Apps).
Anyway yesterday Samsung Apps started notifying me about an update, even if not showing me what app was to update as Papyrus wasn't present in the Samsung Apps page of my downloaded apps.
So I hope that Samsung Apps will become more smart and clear in the future.
Anyway the mysterious apps that showed up in the last days with a 1 red circle and didn't show on the Samsung Apps page for being actually updated are (so far):
- Polaris Office
- Photoshop Touch
- Papyrus
(maybe this list can help someone else and also be "updated" - no pun intended - by other users)
After "finding" them and updating them now they are in my downloaded apps page so the problem won't probably occur again (at least not with these apps).
AAAArrrrgggghhhh
I spoke too soon.... and the infamous nasty and vengeful "1-red circle" has come back again!!!! Just after a few hours of a new sense of carefree freedom... it was too good to be true....
What's the app to update? Where is it? Where? where? where?
I'm beginning to think that you can't beat it.:crying:
If I only had the gut to swipe Samsung Apps and all the apps offered by it away (as some wise guy has already done...)
(but I need and like a couple of apps that are there and nowhere else...)
Any further help?
Reading this topic I found out that there are some updates that can only be done with Samsung apps, so I updateded them. Now if I open Samsung apps I also have the red notification, but it does not bother me in any way because I rarely open this. I think it's a bug with the app, so until they fix it I'll just check manually for updates on the two apps from Samsung.

Have you noticed that there is an in app purchase that allows you to draw shapes and type text in papyrus?
Tried to purchase using Samsung apps on note 10.1 but does not let me. I tried to buy on my phone and it let me pay by carrier i.e. will be charged to my phone bill. The stupid thing is with Samsung apps you have to purchase the in app on each device. It does not let me download/apply to the note 10.1
Last time I buy any apps from Samsung.

Last update
My updates "red-circle" counter was 2 this morning. :crying:
But, rather magically and serendipitously, today I managed to return to the "no red circle" status.
What were the updates I did need to make?
These 2:
Polaris Office
AllShare Play
Mysteriously AllShare Play appeared for the first time on the "My page - Downloads" with an update button (I suppose this is a pre-installed app as I never downloaded it before). After updating it it disappeared again from the "My page - Downloads" but the update red cirlce counter was also decreased by 1.
Then, updating Polaris Office made the counter come back to zero.
Another quirk instance is with Papyrus.
I've updated it through Google Play to version 0.3 (there is called "Papyrus beta")
In SamsungApps it's reported as version 0.2.4 (there's called "Papyrus").
After the update through Google Play I lost the possibility (that I had before) to buy, as an in-app purchasing, the Tool Pack, that, as I understand, is an exclusive of Samsung Apps (see the FAQ in Papyrus "Settings-Help and Support".
So, as far as I can tell, the sharing of the same app between Google Play and Samsung can be another real nightmare...
Furthermore my experience seems to confirm that the notification process for Samsung pre-installed apps is very buggy and ridden with unpredictable delays .

Hey everyone...
I recently purchased a Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955U1) and I'm having some problems with it.
The Samsung native apps like Messages, Phone, Contacts, etc don't get updated, but in their "about" section which shows the version, says this app is up to date. I even tried going to Galaxy Apps and tried updating from there, but there is no update available. My phone itself is apparently up to date as well, but I'm not sure.
This is the software version installed:
G955U1UEU1AQH3
I went to apk websites and saw that almost all the samsung native apps on my phone are at least a couple versions out of date, and it's really bothering and annoying. To a point that my samsung messages app, doesn't even have "delivery report" option for sms. It's just not there...
2 of my family members have also Galaxy S8 pluses, and their phones function well, and everything is up to date!
So, how can I fix this problem on my phone without modding it or anything because I want my phone to remain mod free!
I will appreciate your help VERY VERY much!

load new versions from apkmirror.com, then for being able to install them without getting the "package exists" error you have to change the secure startup (off if on and vice versa), then you are able to update these system apps!

I figured it out. I was being too impatient before. Go to apkmirror or similar sites and download the apks to the phone. Once downloaded, you need to toggle secure startup (if it is on the turn it off, but if off then you will need to turn it on). After you do that, immediately restart your phone. Once booted, head directly to the download folder and install all of the apks. Do not launch any of the apps to verify until you finish loading all of the apks or you will have to repeat the process. Once you are done, you can launch which ever app to verify. I had an issue with the apps crashing at first so I rebooted and all issues went away for now at least.
Good luck. You can also set apkmirror to notify you when a new version comes out if you so choose to go that route.
I've noticed the incompatibility issue as soon as Android P came out, but never got the time to dig into the problem, now I finally took some time, and recompiled several APKs so that the gear app can work on Android P now. For details about what this problem is about, please take a look at my thread here, and the rest of the discussions, basically Samsung is "sneaky" and used some private kind of API that was deprecated when Android P came out, so the app would naturally crash every time you try to set up a device, and because of Samsung's laziness, this problem never got solved. (I tried to contact Samsung several times and nobody seems to care)
Anyways, I've attached the APKs here, and you have to install all of them (with the same signature, from me) to make the app work because of APK signature issues, otherwise after installing the main Gear app, the other needed plugins, and service apps will fail to install (I still don't know how Samsung managed to do that).
I've included the plugin APKs for Gear S series, Gear Fit2, Gear IconX, and Gear IconX 2018, please download the corresponding ones for your devices.
If you failed to install any of these APKs, make sure you uninstall all the other Samsung related apps first, as some of them seem to be able to block these installs somehow.
Enjoy!
PS: Samsung Pay is not working with the recompiled APKs at the moment, probably because of the different signatures on the APKs, any ideas on how to fix this?
PPS: I've also included my keystore file (my.keystore). In case you have other Gear devices, just go to APK Mirror or whatever you prefer and download the corresponding plugin APK, resign them with this keystore file and install it with the Gear App, then it should work (resign APK simple tutorial, detailed tutorial, remember to replace the keystore's name and password with the corresponding ones. Password for the keystore file when resigning: 314151)
Thank you for trying!
Your APK files worked on my Pixel XL w/ Android P. Thanks for taking the time to share your work!

PPS: I noticed that Samsung Pay is not working with the recompiled APKs, probably because of the different signatures, any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for the upload, however, I cannot use your keystore file without the password

Thanks for the reminder, I completely forgot about it, anyway, I've added the password in the original post, it's 314151
Thanks for the help, managed to get the app to work however I've noticed that Samsung health won't sync steps with my gear S3, even though everything seems to be connected
I get app not installed on all of these...any ideas?

Make sure you have no Samsung apps or plugins installed.
So i got it running, but it doesn't appear to be pushing anything to the watch...its not tracking my steps, and it's not giving me notifications.
Any additional thoughts? hehe...thank you in advance!

I just found this thread, it's exactly what I was looking for! But I'm pretty noob when it comes to these things, to make it work do I simply uninstall all the Samsung apps from my phone and install these ones? That's all and it should work?

yes, it's that simple.
I uninstalled all Samsung apps and it won't install the apks for me on Pixel XL
Thank you so much for this!
Not that I am skilled at this or anything but I've been tinkering around with Samsung Pay to see if I could get it to work. I downloaded an older version of it (1.2) and resigned it using your keystore file. I am greeted with the "Insert Simcard" and "Access Denied...Samsung Pay has been locked due to an unauthorized modification" notices. Hitting "OK" closes the application, of course.

I'm not sure what the problem is. It SHOULD work. I deleted everything that said Samsung and the Gear Plugin and it worked for me.
Ok, so i've ironed out everything, with the exception of the step counter...it just doesn't seem to want to work for me.
Anyone have any luck with that?

Did you try clearing the storage/cache for the apps prior to installing the recompiled APKs? And is the install screen at least appearing?

The installation screen does show up and then it hangs at around the 80 percent mark. It then says not installed.

Could you reinstall the Samsung Gear app from the app store -> Force Close -> Clear Cache/Clear Storage -> Uninstall app -> Restart device -> Install APKs from drive folder.
Sorry if you have done the above already but it's strange that the installation hangs for your device.
