Camera firmware installer on Market? - Captivate General

So I was checking out the new GpsRestore app on the market when I noticed that Samsung Mobile also has published a Camera firmware installer app for the AT&T Captivate. Has anyone tried this out? It doesn't really list what changes were made.

I run it and it says my firmware is current.

I downloaded it and it installed something LOL. I'm running Captivate 2.3b6

I installed it as well, but I haven't noticed any differences...
Does anyone know the changelog?

I sent a message to samsung support and they are checking. The market says v10.9.07 and when i installed it, app manager took my camera firmware from v1 to v2. Something changed, but the menus look the same to me. So no idea.

It got removed off the market?

I was just wondering the same thing... I cant find it anymore...

I checked the app list after finding the gpsrestore one and other than the one i found immediately the rest are marked internal use only. Why stick up internal apps to the marketplace?

Probably because they want an easy way for testers to test fixes without enabling sideloading or teaching people how to sideload.

Camera firmware
I installed the firmware, and now my camera no longer works. It loads, but when I try to take a pic, it says "camera failed", and then closes the camera app. I checked my software, (fring is not installed), I am running Cog 2.3b6 ROM.
Teach me to jump on something... lol
EDIT: Flashed my ROM to Perception Build 5, camera works again... Cleared cache at the same time...

Market app acting weirdly

Hi guys, I was installing titanium backup the other day, and somehow after the download it got stuck @ installing. I tried restarting my phone, force closing the market app and reopening it but whatever i do it still comes out as 'installing' after it opens. Does anyone know how to fix this? btw im on nordic 2.1 rooted.
Thanks in adv.
(Ive tried going into the market app and clearing the cache, but it didnt help, also i had no 'uninstall updates button both in the market app and market updater app)
Yeah, I've noticed a number of my Market downloads (mostly app updates) tend to get stuck at "Installing". Usually at some point thereafter, the Market app will crash and reload, and things tend to startup sometime after that.
I haven't had any apps get completely stuck like you describe though.
Hm thanks, guess i'll keep waiting till it clears itself :x
hey I'm actually happening the same problem. did you ever figure it out?
Yeah the 2.1 Market seems a lot more flaky than the 1.6. I get a lot of stuck downloads and force closing. (Mostly when I use the Update All function)
ive had a similar problem before. i went into settings > applications > manage applications > market, then chose the options to clear cache and uninstall updates. restarted phone. ran market app, accepted terms n conditions again n all was well.. hope it helps
P.s - jus read your other bit on first post, dont have nordic 2.1 so cant really say, plus in my application settings i have only market, theres no market updater that i can see at mo

Well i was on nordic, then on global and now on rogers and I had all kind of Problem with the Market, not downloading, force closing/restarting, not installing ect...
I don't think it's related to the firmware since my experience.
Now it doesn't want to finish installing updates or stuff I downloaded from the market and when I try to install, Market force close and restart.
I post about it yesterday
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9222129&postcount=7
Did anyone here using fast web installer? Cause it stop working for me too.

Have you by chance been deleting google talk? Without google talk the market encounters all sorts of wonky errors.

Yeah, I actually ran into a problem after my previous flash (and then again when I re-flashed today) that when installing or updating an app from the market once it was downloaded and the install actually started, the Market would FC. As such, I couldn't install apps from the market.
I fixed it with the same process, and both times it has corrected the problem and made the market work reliably.

I did in the nordic version and it actually causes the downloads to be "active" but actually not downloading.
I was encountering a different problem but got it resolved by uninstalling the market updates.
I guess one of market's update Is not very stable

This whole Market thing is driving me nuts

I'm running the stock "Woot" ROM (which is probably vanilla 3588 with some pre-installed apps, but I can't be certain) and have installed the Market and done the standard "market fix."
I'm able to browse the market, but the website insists I don't have any device. However, the website *does* show things I've installed as "installed." I believe that may be from when I was fiddling with TnT Lite earlier, but can't be sure.
I noticed in a thread about editing build.prop that doing so may break website updating, but I've never had that in the first place. That means that any time I do a market fix or switch ROM's that the Market doesn't know about any previously-purchased apps. I might try risking $1.98 and purchasing something then seeing what happens if I try purchasing it later.
Like others, I'm frustrated by what doesn't appear in the Market that I think should: Firefox and Google Earth in particular.
I think ive found that clicking on a link to an app will open it even if its not found in the search. there was an app i couldnt find earlier but it was there when i clicked a market link to it. installed just fine
If you want Firefox to show up after the market fix is applied you need to edit the build.prop - discussed a bit in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017368
It also will show up before the market fix is applied. I am also having web market problems - no luck there so far.
Regarding Google Earth... never been able to see it in the market. I went as far as searching for the APK to sideload and it simply wouldn't work. Not sure why - it just froze when opening. I am guessing there is some sort of incompatibility with the gTablet...
I recently put cm7 on my moms gtab, and I found google earth in the market and it runs just fine

I never tried to find Google Earth after editing the build.prop. Just did and it was not only in the market but worked great. Maybe CM7 uses a different build.prop by default than vegan 5.1.1. I must have side loaded an old copy before when it didn't work.

Wrong! Paid applications are tied to your Google Account. As long as you log in to your Google account, all your paid apps are available to you in the Market application. However, if you are using a fingerprint in build.prop that Google does not recognize, your paid Google DRM protected apps will not show up; however I believe all ROM's are using a recognized fingerprint (Nexus 1 on TnT-Lite) so we don't have to worry about that.

[Q] Market Apps are now incompatibe! Is it so??

Most of the latest apps at android market says it is incompatible? Why is it so? I downloaded a few from other sources and works really fine! Is it the end of our phone's support for games?

just look in which section we landed!
and just cause the android market says something, doesnt make it so
On a sidenote though... ARe you sure that you
1. are logged into the browser using your phone's market account?
2. are you using market enabler on your phone? and if so, do you start it on boot or just when u need it?
the browser market thing shows ALL apps, even apps that are not available in your country so its always best to look for them in the market app directly
1. This usually happens when you use other market sources like Amazon where you get paid apps for free and then you try to update them from android market.
2. This also happens if you installed warez (cracked apps) from sites like Cyberandroid.com and then try to update them from market.
Otherwise there is no chance of this happening.
You will need to update them from the source you got them.
Plz post question in general section.

No this is not true. I had the same issue (Market app saying that app is not compatible with my phone) when I had the phone running with a changed LCD density. After visiting the Market via the app also the website showed me that many apps are incompatible. The only solution for me was to reset the density. After that everything went back to normal.
I also do not see where ayushextreme said that he is using a specific way to install apps from the market. Not the app nor via browser.
But I agree to vishal24387. This question is something for the general section.

[Q] Android Market 3.3.11 FC

I'm assuming you've tried to clear data and force close market from settings -> applications?
I got the Market update this morning too and I have not had any problems.
I'm having the same problem... I posted about it twice in the Prime thread to no avail. I have cleared the Market data and also the apps data that I have had problems updating.
It's only select apps (google apps?) that seems to force close the market when trying to update them.
what phone is it? im kinda lost here...im new to this form and would like some help.
.
Yeah, i cleared the data and cache, i even did a full system wipe to try a solve but no dice. Hopefully an update is forth coming that will solve this, kinda a pain not being able to update apps.
Cold boot fixed it for me when I updated to the latest firmware
i assume you did not read the info before installed right?
it's said that 3.3.11 is not working perfectly on Honeycomb tablet's
but now you now

I assume you know that this was pushed silently and we had no choice, right?
Now you know.
I also have some problems with the new Market app. However, it seems to only force close when I select specific paid apps under My Apps. One of those apps received an update, which it luckily installed automatically, and now I can select that app again without a problem. Maybe the Market crashed on certain permission settings that they changed or something. Just an idea.
Btw, it has been tried by gnufabio to put back the previous version of the Market, but that didn't work because of how the apk's are signed or something (correct me if I'm wrong!).

upgraded playstore, now get sign in error msg.

hello. hopefully posted in the right spot, but unsure if anyone has seen this issue... there was an update recently for the play store, so i did an upgrade, and now getting the nagging sign in error for gmail associated with this phone.
entering my pw does nothing. it just comes back almost instantly to reenter pw again.
i did a kill this to see what or where the message was coming from... what it killed was the google services framework, so its not a fake... but... wanted to see if anyone's seen this, and if there's a fix...
i'm on a droid 3 rooted, debloated, and that's all thats been done..
playstore is at 3.5.19 and gsframework is at 2.3.7
thanks.

your phone is rooted and cleaned (no bloatware) but how did you do that by flashing a custom rom or made by yourself
if made by yourself I suggest to delete playstore directly (use Root Explorer etc) and install from sdcard a new playstore you can find it by Google do not forget to activate "unknown sources" in menu/applications before to install new playstore form sdcard
another solution is to get stock rom and flash it then update playstore in this case all things should go if not there is a compatibility problem -last version of playstore is not compatible with your phone/OS

if that was the issue, all Droid 3's would have issues... or else all rooted Droid 3s would have issues... probably not it either..
**UPDATE**
This morning while browsing androidpolice, saw an app i wanted to try out (Google+ Analytics) ... so I tried to do it via the playstore on PC.. guess what? My Droid 3 was delisted from the account. How and why? I scanned the QR code that went directly to the Analytics app on PLaystore on my Droid 3, and installed successfully - it even lists Analytics on the PC view of the play store's "My Orders".
I was comparing the differences between my phone and my wife's Rezound, and I did notice one thing so far.. we both had the Droid Eris, and she had the Rezound now. Her Rezound listed verizon as the carrier, but on my account my Eris was oddly listed as verizon... and my Droid 3 not on the list at all!
Anyways, there's a link there for people who "Don't see your device?" question.. link is: http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1146414 ...
it states they are merging the personal google account with the google app account which may cause issues...
Now, is anyone having this issue at all? Google notes that this falls under a few percentages of users only ;\
mmm i probably won't go that route yet.

after googling a few, and finding more info, it ended up being a sync issue between the google servers - since the phone was registered to an gmail account that was made prior to whatever is being merged at this time, it messed up the sync. the error is gone now, and my phone is now re-listed in the devices list in the play store settings tab.
yay.
