Missing Multitasking Previews in App Switcher - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Is anyone else having this issue/know a fix? All the apps in the app switcher show up as blank boxes with just the name above it, even the app I'm in when I open the switcher shows an animation then goes blank.
G955U1 on AQE3 firmware, no package disablers
Could this be anything to do with Samsung's aggressive RAM management?
Is this an actual issue or is this how its supposed to be?

No, you are supposed to see app screen.
See screenshot.
Are you not using power saving?
Bottom line it's not supposed
to look like that.

It looks like a reboot fixed it for now.

Yes, i also found at times, that a device reboot
sometimes, can "solved" issues.!
Good luck

Thought it was just me. I also noticed sometime my home screen has a clear navigation bar, and sometimes it's black, or white. I think it's memory management.

Yeah, I've noticed that I only get this issue when I go into multi window. I don't know how I can fix this without just not using multi window.

Widgetlocker problem

Hi,
Since two days I'm a happy and proud Note owner, but there's one thing, that makes me really go crazy:
I installed the program "Widgetlocker", because the standard lockscreen is quite broing. It actually works quite good, but sometimes the standard lockscreen still apears. Not instead of the widgetlocker, but additional. So I always have to unlock two lockscreens.
Does anybody else has got this problem? And how can I fix it?
I tried to find a solution in different forums and in the program configuration, without sucess!
Thanks for help!
Edit: The error apears mostly when there's a pop-up (gtalk e.g.) or when I plug in the charger....
I turned on root helper and home helper in settings, that fixed it for me. I'm on Stock Rooted XXKK9 if that helps.

I presume you have set the lock screen to "none" in the actual phone settings too?

My widgetlocker works fine. Been using it since day 1. Hmm.. Sorry. Not sure how to help.
chrcad,
Your problem seems related to the fact that Android is not having enough memory left ans simply closes "useless" apps and considers that WL is part of them. To prevent that to happen, simply check in advanced settings the "refuse to suspend WL" box and Android will look another application than WL to close

Thanks @ everybody for the help, but unhappily it's still not working properly.
The problem always apperas, when the phone's sleeping and a gTalk message comes in.... but ONLY, when the gTalk ppop-up is activated......
Any (more) idea?
you are leaving it running all the time aren't you?
I use to have the same problem, very rarely but it was still annoying. I have put a lock on widgetlocker so if I ever close all programs, widgetlocker is still running. It's not happened since but it's only been a few days so I'll see.

Some pop-ups cause this if they're designed to appear underneath the stock lockscreen rather than dismiss it.
For now:
1) Easy Wake Mode disables the system lockscreen
2) WL Settings > Long-press volume down for Experimental > Aggressive Dismiss stock lockscreen. This should work, but it's not well tested yet so it's off by default.

How to turn off that pesky screen capture button

I noticed that a lot of folks do not like that screen capture button. As I was running through the settings, I noticed that you can turn it off in settings, screen, quick launch. You can make the button do something else there. Now if someone can figure out a way to make the icons smaller on the stock browser I'd be set.

I think the option to change it is new to KL1.
Yeah, don't see any such option in Screen shipped OS version.
I am on KL3. I didn't like kk1 because it made it even harder to write to the external sd

I was able to change it in KK3, not sure about earlier firmwares.

running processes show on main screen

Has this happened to anyone else? All of a sudden the running processes are displayed on my screen. I'm able to use it the same - buttons underneath it still work - but this looks ugly as hell.
Did I mess up the settings somewhere?

Bug Report for Nexus 5 stock

App drawer redraws or something like that , Here's the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV0zYBVFauo
Now in this video, when I click on app drawer icon and fastly go back to home and click on that icon again, drawer redraws. When I simply and easily click and don't do it fastly, nothing happens. It's all good. What is wrong with that? I'm using Novalauncher but this is happening on Google Now Launcher aswell. But the interesting thing is when I go to safe mode of Nexus 5, this doesn't happpen. So most probably and app is doing this but there are so many apps I have, It will take days to figure out which is causing this. Anyone else had this bug and can tell me how they resolved it ?
One other Bug is "recent apps". When I click the recents button, an app or a screen comes and vanishes.. I don't know how to describe it and I don't even know how to reproduce it. If someone know what I'm talking about, let me know.

The 2nd issue which you are referring to is a known bug on KitKat... It happens on each n every roms/launchers that I've used...
About the redraw thing... You are a better judge of what you've got on your mobile... May be the LMT launcher/slim pie is causing it to redraw... Did you try using navigation bar and see whether it happens??

[HELP NEEDED] Some apps not installing, can't click "Next"!??

Friends, Android user of 10 years. Never seen this issue, EVER. Came over from an Axon 7 yesterday. Here's the situation.
Mate 9 US Version B138
Not Rooted or altered AT ALL
Unknown sources is checked in Security
Developer Options enabled
No screen dimmer apps
Blue Eye filter disabled and enabled when this happened
Basically, when trying to install some apps via a File Manager, not the Play Store, some apps are installing like any other would, while others are not letting me click the "Next" button during the installation process. No errors, no other indicators of why? "Cancel" button works fine. While some other APKs even the "Next" button works and everything installs fine.
Like I said... I have never ever seen this weird issue before. The closest was when I had a non root blue light filter app on and the "Install" button wouldn't work, no errors, no other indicators.
Can someone please help? Have you seen this issue before?
Thanks!
Anyone? Thanks guys!

Thanks brother, but that wasn't it...
[SOLVED]
For anyone else who may face this issue, here's the solution:
It's similar to the screen dimmer/blue light filter issue. Basically, I was using a custom theme that was skinning the Package Installer. Somehow, the system must have seen this as "drawing" over the application and therefore disabled any app installations. That still does not explain why some APKs were installing, but this is good enough. The fix is to revert to stock theme and install your APK then.
Thanks to anyone that tried to help!
I had the same problem with a theme yesterday - went back to stock because of it. Kind of annoying

I hear ya bud! Even scarier, this issue is not documented anywhere, hope this post helps others! Have you seen this issue with EVERY theme?
Thanks for your input!
I have been having trouble finding themes I like - I like dark themes but then they look terrible in the email app (everything dark except the email body is colored or white which looks bad). Finally found the BWM black & white theme I liked and that had the installer problem. For now, back to stock.
Is it possible that those failed apps needed much more free space on your mobile?
This issue actually occurs if you have any screen filter apps installed in your device. Some apps that are known to cause the apk file installation problem include Twilight, Screen Adjuster, Easy Eye, Darker and Blue Light Filter.
In addition, any persistant overlay may prevent usage of the "install" or "next" button when installing an app from the SD card. Chat heads, floating battery stats, etc are all possible culprits.
This is a safety built into android to prevent an app from popping up an overlay over the required permissions list and showing a "safe" list of required permissions on top of the real list of persmissions that allow it to read your texts, pick your wallet, and root around in your underwear drawer.

Hey James, thanks for your thoughtful responses. No I definitely have a lot of space, and to your point, this problem is famously known with other phones and with the "Install" button. But two things make it unique:
1. Huawei calls their install button "Next" so this is hard to find a Google solution to.
2. I don't have any of those apps you mentioned, otherwise I would have solved that issue right away. The culprit here was a theme an .hwt file... So that's why I was struggling to find an answer...
Thanks again!

Another clue for your reference.
As I know, Huawei mate 8 has a feature which is some like those "Bluelight Filter for Eye Care" apps.
Settings - Display - SCREEN - Eye confort.
So, is there this stock blue light filter feature on your phone? If yes, is it possible that the issue resulted from this feature enabling?

Yes it exists in the Mate 9 James, and of course I disabled or turned it off... The problem was still there... It's the themes, some of them fool the system into thinking a screen drawing is enabled to it doesn't allow for installation. Strangely, my current custom theme is allowing for installation... :-\
I'm having similar issues. The apps I can't get to install are; Anything from Amazon App store underground app. mSecure app, and various others.
2nd: Phone will NOT pair with external Camera that I have...HTC Re-Cam, or LG 360 Camera.

I think I solved the issue today.
Using stock theme app, apply the stock EMUI theme. Reboot phone, than try to install applications.
My thoughts:... any non-stock theme being used/applied creates an overlay. So when the "next" button isn't responding (when the next button is at the top of install screen), it's cause the real button is located on the bottom right.
