I think Samsung built the NFC antenna into the battery in order to limit people getting batteries from 3rd party sources. It appears that UNU does a nice trick here where they simply put their battery in the original spot with contacts sticking out. Then you put the original battery, with the NFC into the contacts on their battery... thereby maintaining the NFC antenna. Good idea.
The only problem is wireless charging.... most 3rd party cards are built to lay flat against the inside. Their contacts wouldn't reach to the contacts on the phone with the double thick battery.
My guess is that it also doesn't maintain IP67 rating.
I just want an extended battery that maintains NFC, IP67 rating, and can be wirelessly charged. Oh... and preferably not TOO much thicker. Is that too much to ask??

I have it.. Best money I've spent.. No crazy bulk still slim n sexy, double battery life.. Plus I have a third battery I can switch to without turning the phone off sonic have triple battery life and I love it.. Buy it

Got mine today, the case doubles the phone in thickness. Feels weird at first. After 12 hours of using it, I got used to it.

I haven't noticed any difference. The thickness is mostly air except where your original battery sticks in the little adapter, which is offset from the battery slot slightly.

AWESOME battery case. I tested it for UNU and must say, I would have paid the full price for the case. It's is about double the thickness of the phone with the case on. It does have a nice rounded back however so it doesn't feel big in the hands by any means. With the case I was able to get about 36 hours of battery life with full screen brightness, gps on and consistently looking for service (no service inside the college). I had about 7 1/2 hours of on screen time as well. Another awesome feature is that your phone automatically recognizes the bigger battery and displays the correct percent of battery. Plus it is a legitimate case for some protection as well. I'll post some pictures of the case on the phone tonight if you'd like.

I Beta tested this case, I was not thrilled with it. You lose waterproof capability, it is very slick and a fingerprint magnet. The bumper cracked at the bottom by the charging port. I dropped it by accident and everything fell apart, had to put it all back together and reboot phone. The buttons can be activated in your pocket, many times I heard my phone beeping just to find it was trying to unlock. YMMV, glad I got it free I used it for 5 days to test it, and havent used it since. The only plus is it does give you better battery life they say its 100% more but I only saw a 60-70% improvement.

[Review]Mugen Power 5900mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy S5

Disclaimer: I was chosen to receive a review unit of the Mugen Power 5900mAh Extended Battery.
So, that being said, I had done some research on their website, as well as googling Galaxy S5 "wireless charging" + "extended battery" and was prepared to like the battery. Mugen appears to be the only company (from google search) that has an extended battery AND wireless charging. This is a preliminary review with initial observations and pictures. I'll update the review after "conditioning" the battery and putting it through a few charging cycles.
PRO's:
On the website, the backcover was not suppose to be IP67 water-resistant (they were working on that, but it wasn't suppose to be wireless charging capable. The model I received is! (See included pictures)
Wireless charging: Worked effortlessly on the Q1 charger I was using with a wireless charging card.
NFC: Worked perfectly.
Design: Very solid and well designed. As you can see in the picture, the wireless connector is solid, the speaker is boxed in, so that sound won't echo in the hollow space, but is directed to the cut-out. Also, the speaker cut-out has a film cover, which the OEM does not. I'm used to having my phone is a case so I'm used to a larger feel in my hand and it feels very comfortable to me.
CON's:
Just one. It would be nice if it included a bumper so that the front of the phone was raised slightly. That being said, Mugen included both a tempered glass screen protector, and a leather-like pouch for the phone. I honestly don't know if that's part of the standard order, but it was a very nice touch.
Lastly, Mugen is based out of Hong Kong, but they are by no means anything like an e-bay cheapy product. Instructions included with battery are written in perfect english. If you've ever gotten an e-bay product from the Far East, I'm sure you know what I mean!
UPDATE 1: After the first charge/discharge cycle, almost 1 day, 8 hours and 7 hours screen on time. Pretty heavy use with Google Maps running screen brightness set to full brightness. After next charge, I'm just going to put it through "normal" use.
UPDATE 2: With light to moderate use, got 3 days, 8 hours, 40 minutes.

Planning on moving up to the S5 from the S4 since the latest Galaxy doesn't have the features it use too. Anyway... I really like your review and even went to Mugen's site and gave it a once over, but I'm not hooked.
Right now I am using a 5200mAh from Anker and for $25 I couldn't have gone wrong. This thing with moderate to heavy use is getting me around 2 days of battery life. Anyway... I'm pretty happy with the Ankers performance, so of course I looked into them for the S5 and I see they offer a whopping 7500mAh for only $40.
Granted you mention Mugen sending you a pouch/case... but their site doesn't mention that... so no idea if that would even be included on every order or if it might have been a limited order/supply kind of deal. Regardless though... I can't seem to justify paying an extra $45 and getting a battery that's 1600mAh smaller than the Anker. Also I have to add that my current S4 Anker hardback sucks... wasn't molded well and sometime pops off as it doesn't fit real snug like it should and I see Mugen uses the same kind of hardback. The S5 Anker uses what looks to be a plastic/rubber combo and fits like a glove.
Appreciate the review though.

Thanks for the review. If the site advertised / sold the exact same one with the IP67 rating like the one you received. I would purchase one in a heartbeat.

[Q] Slim extended battery / charger case with stylus hole

I am looking for a battery that would fit into the standard cover, there are a few chinese batteries that claim that they have 4500mAh capacity with the same size.... are they fake? Second thing which i was looking for was a case with integrated external battery, again there are a few of them but most of them have bad reviews and none of them has S pen access. So to the questions:
1. Is there any higher then standard slim battery that would fit into the standard case?
2. Is there any charger case with S Pen access?
3. Is it better to buy case with built-in battery or internal battery lets say Hyperion 8kmAh

2. Never liked them , so can't give any advice. I'd prefer having some slim power bank in my pocket or bag, instead of those cases.
3. Depends on your personal taste. I have hyperion battery and I love it, but I don't like using it as my daily driver, because I can't use nice quality cases like Spigen. I use it when I'm going out for the long day trip. So, my favorite choice is stock battery with some good case and slim power bank in my bag just in case.

So i was searching for batteries with conclusion that no slim extended (non-fake) exists... so i started searching for cases and found a few but most of them have no access to stylus... finally i found this one, which has even S Pan access or at least it seems like it has... anyone know something about it? Would i have to charge the case sepparately? Does it really has S pan entry? Anyone knows anything?

That one you found looks like it would charge both at the same time but is labeled as a Max input/output of only 1A. That would take over 8 hours to charge both the case and phone together. If you were actively using the phone, your phone battery would be discharging faster than the case could recharge it.

Well my conclusion is, that I will stick with original battery and maybe later I could buy ZeroLemon 10k mAh battery for outdoors activities... I don't like power banks... the idea of having to plug the phone into something and then having to walk around with it... nope... so thank you for ur advice about charging time I didn't think about it and until someone makes battery case with better input / output and with stylus hole... I will just buy Spigen Tough Armor or that from i-Blason and keep my orig battery

[REVIEW] ZeroLemon Moto Z 7500mAh Extended Battery Case

Hi all, thought I'd share this for those thinking about this case. I received a free sample from ZeroLemon and they asked me to post a review on XDA. Also posted on Amazon here, where I gave it 4/5 stars.
ZeroLemon Moto Z 7500mAh Extended Battery Case Review
If you're looking for a way to extend the use of your Moto Z without having to carry a separate battery pack, this would be a good way to do it. You'll get about 2 charges out of this battery case, while simultaneously giving your Moto Z some good protection.
PROS:
-Although their official page says it will not, this WILL FIT THE MOTO Z FORCE. I had no problems getting this case on my MZF.
-Battery capacity. 7500mAh ain't no joke for a battery case, and gave me nearly two full charges.
-Charges phone quickly, and the extra USB-A port is appreciated.
-For its size, the case is nicely designed and comfortable to hold. Button covers have good click response.
CONS:
-Let's be clear, this case is YUGE. I plan to use this case specifically for camping/traveling, but there's just no way I'll ever use it as a daily driver. It more than doubles the thickness of the phone, and there's zero chance you're comfortably getting this in a front pocket. However, I imagine that if you're in the market for a large-capacity battery case, you already expect you'll be getting a thick product.
-I have a Skinomi TechSkin screen protector, and the case occasionally pushed up the edges on the protector. After two days with the case on, I may have to replace my screen protector. I do acknowledge that this issue may be due to using the case with the Moto Z Force, not the intended slightly-thinner Moto Z.
OTHER NOTES/THOUGHTS:
-Read the instructions. I didn't fully and missed the fact I had to turn on charging by holding the power button for 3 seconds. For ten or fifteen minutes I thought the case was defective.
-I do wish they could have taken advantage of the MotoMod functionality. If the battery was somehow embedded in the case and used the pogo pin connector, I imagine it could have taken some of the huge chin off the case. But I'm no engineer, so there's that.
-However, since the battery does use USB-C to charge, you could easily just use the battery as a standalone pack with a USB cord of your choosing (or use the USB-A as well). Granted, you would lose the protective capabilities of the case, but you also wouldn't embiggen your phone by more than 2x. But at the price of this case, there are many larger-capacity battery packs available out there so not a great idea if this would be your primary plan.
All in all, this is a well-designed product that does exactly what it's intended to do. Will it fit everyone's needs? Maybe not. But for power users that drain their phones quickly and don't want to carry a separate battery pack, this is a good option.

Incredible combination Oreo and Extended battery

I have to report a huge increase in functionality when adding three things: Oreo, the official v20 charging cradle and an extended 6,700 mAh battery that actually fits in the official charging cradle. If you use a 3.0 charging station the battery will charge quickly. I just ordered a second battery ($25.90 each on Amazon) so I can l use my phone as a hot spot with my Samsung Chromebook Pro for long stretches. It's not SUPER THICK like the popular 10,000 mAh extended battery that I also have, instead the 6,700 mAh battery keeps it way more doable for every day use. I also notice that the battery heat issues from the stock 3,300 mAh size battery are not a big issue anymore. The hot battery was giving really bad display image issues. And the other extended batteries would not fit in any of the official or aftermarket battery charging cradles so I could only charge those big batteries in the phone which meant it had to be done when plugged into the wall. The Oreo update (Verizon) has massively improved my battery time. With extended battery I'm getting closer and closer to 8 hours screen on time and the phone still fits in my button dowm shirt front pocket. I was barely hitting 3 hours SOT with the stock 3,300 batteries (I have 5 that I picked up cheap). I guess I can now wait for that Note 9 to come down in price even if the black Friday deal is weak sauce.

This is why I appreciate the ability to remove the battery, and despite some of the V20's flaws(mostly software), I consider it one of the last "great phones" out there due to it's user replaceable battery, among other features (even the IR blaster, not to mention the headphone jack... can't believe Sony removed the 3.5mm from their latest phones...!!!)

I honestly don't see the software flaw. it's flawless and buttery smooth. Despite the slow updates, its the best phone. You can customize the UI from play store themes without having CM ROMS or any special thing. Samsung does have that, and is very limited.

But just FYI without the official V20 charging cradle (the little white one with the door) I was getting very slow charging for some reason. I had it plugged into a Quick Charge 3.0 port the lightning bolt icon would appear to show it was quick charge capable but it would charge really slowly over 4 hours once from 15% to 80%. With the V20 cradle it charged from 0 to 100% in about 2 hours abd 15 minutes.

"slow updates", that's mostly what I was referring to when describing it's "flaws" (security patches especially...). But yeah, hardware wise, it's a great phone

I shouldn't have said heat issue, the phone getting hot in the the last 15% of battery is not unheard of. But it definitely seems to make the image retention/ghosting or whatever you want to call it, worse. The solution for me seems to be to use a battery that will be more likely to keep you above 15% if you are a heavy user. 6700 mAh will do the trick. Better than stock by double but not like carrying a stapler in your pocket with 10,000 maAh. Btw, I've had that screen issue on two V10's and two V20's. Actually it happened sooner with the V20. Major flaw of this type of display.
Grip on the case is fine. The standard black matte finish type rubber that has plenty of flex albeit a little on the stiff side. I use Di-Noc carbon fiber wrap on most of my devices like the back od my laptop, my FiiO DAC, phone cases even my bicycle frame. I might cut out a square for this one.

Yeah that was dumb by Sony to remove the headphone jack. They basically lost all the audio enthusiasts. Bluetooth has come a long way but it will never have the sound stage of a top end corded headphone. I would have gone with a Sony phone if they worked well or at all on Verizon. Their 4K phones have by far the best displays on the market. OLED is great and all but you can't beat the realism of a Sony 4K display. It's like looking through a glass window. No yellowy tinge of the OLED displays.

Further to your Bluetooth comment.
In the Oreo update Google put in a new codec called LDAC, this codec was developed by Sony but surprisingly left open source by them for others to use.
There are a few other manufacturers besides the Sony Bluetooth models (earbuds, speakers, etc) that are just coming to market.
The interesting part is that the LDAC codec is head and shoulders above the previous best AptX HD. I'm no expert but I think as this codec takes hold that it could give equal performance to wireless outside of the audiophile domain ($$$$$).
I can see in the not to distant future that I'm going to purchase a set of Bluetooth LDAC earbuds to give them a try.
In the "developer options" in Oreo settings if you scroll down there is a section for Bluetooth that lets you set the codec - if you want to see.
You should read up on LDAC if you haven't already, I found it interesting.

10,000 is too big. 6000 more manageable.
What's your brightness set to in % usually ?
I've never had any image retention problems and the reason i suspect is i don't need more than 25% indoors.
Brighter the screen, hotter it runs, quicker battery runs down and in turn also heats as the power draw is higher.

I always run my screens at least 70% brightness. 100% outside which is often. I figure If I'm going to have the ability to not worry about battery life then I should put the display to the durability test. I've never had burn in or image retention issues with any Apple, Moto, Nexus or Samsung device display. After 10pm I run blue light so I don't get a weird sleep issue. But it's funny that image issues finally came to one of my phones and it happened on this device first before OLEDs despite their infamous history of burn in.
The Dbrand skins look nice. But I can get a roll of 3M Do-Noc for the same price. Wrapping a square or rectangular shape is about a simple as it gets. And it looks Better than stock.

- I had it delivered today and after about 3 hours of use ended but returning it because it does not come with a backcover. It comes with a rubber case that is somewhat loose and will no doubt allow dust and maybe even moisture to leak into the phone easily. Could be problematic especially if you are more on the active side - I like hiking and trekking. Ended up ordering a combo Pefine 6400mah extended battery along with the Hyperion extended battery TPU case. The backcover on the Perfine is plastic, but should STILL offers the needed protection and the Hyperion case will fit on top of that which will prevent the backcover from breaking.
If the iPosible battery is the same depth as the Perfine, perhaps the backcover can fit as well but I cant seem to find an extended battery backcover on Amazon.

I think they should send you a new case. Mine is a very tight fit. Much tighter than the other cases I use like Spigen which peel right off with one hand almost.

Perhaps you are right. The case I recived other than having many scuffs was loose. The Spigen likewise is also just a case. The backcover that Im taking about is the piece of tin or plastic that covers the internals (like the metal backcover that comes with the stock lg phone). A case should slip on top of the backcover. In the case of the iPosible, its the battery + the rubber case - no backcover. It might absorb shock but not sure how because well it insulates the internals from dust or water since its rubber and is elastic and not as waterproof. The v20 is not advertised as waterproof in the first place so this would make it more vulnerable to environment.

The backcover that Im taking about is the piece of tin or plastic that covers the internals (like the metal backcover that comes with the stock lg phone). A case should slip on top of the backcover. In the case of the iPosible, its the battery + the rubber case - no backcover. It might absorb shock but not sure how because well it insulates the internals from dust or water since its rubber and is elastic and not as waterproof. I have been using the perfine battery with the plastic battery case for 4 months now and, it has been the best decision that I have did on two H918's that I have. They are available on Amazon right now.

Yeah it's not as secure as having a back cover. But I have never used these to reduce weight. On most cases the fit is tight enough to keep the battery in place. If you ever do have an issue and the little strip for water damage turns red but the phone is otherwise fine you can turn the strip white again by taking q-tip and small amount of Clorox bleach and the red will go away.

Update on Screen On Time. Pretty incredible for this phone.

I have had no issues since using the battery or included back case. Water has not been a issue either. I don't submerge it in water or anything but, rain, light spills etc. My two devices have been good.

How's the grip no the back of that perfine case. Looks slippery to me.
Id just swap batteries if i wanted and retain the same form factor but with a case of my choice or one that takes my fancy on the particular day.
