EMUI Theme Editor - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I was searching for an app that can be used for making new EMUI themes or Maybe port them from MIUI or Substratum. Can someone help?

Substratum is mostly not for EMUI. PM @mr.mrcn, you can ask him questions. He's a really good themer.

I have got PCs. So it doesn't matter what platform is required. I just need to make a theme.

I'm working on my own theme editor app - i think it will be ready in 2-3 weeks. It will be far more better than app avaiable in Google Play at this moment, and really user friendly

Why do you say so? Huawei is sticking to their iOS look. It's very evident in EMUI 4, even more in EMUI 5.

there are a lot of changes with emui5, which convinced me
like
the inclusion of an app drawer
the stockish card style recent panel instead of traditional horizontal ios / miui way
Also, a stock-ish notification panel, with at least flat design and no blurring (except for the background)
I'm not saying that they are completely making themselves stockist, but I think, they are moving in a right direction, but slowly, off course

Unified builds introduced by CM not so long ago opened the door for using many other moto_msm8960 ROMs on Photon Q.
CM11 is in a good shape with M6 release coming out at the end of this week.
Everything is in progress. Naturally, we're mostly waiting for the pending 3.4 kernel source release for Razr M / HD by Motorola at this point...
Actually I've seen some phones modded like this on ebay, mostly offered from HK/SG. Though the colors were placed more usefully.
Still: Very nice mod. Awaiting the full guide.

Honor 6X UI

Hi, new to community, heard some weird things about the UJ on Honor phones, I understand that some of these issues have been taken on board, for the 6X and Honor 8 have the usability issues been cleaned up?
I don't see any usability issue. What do you mean?

Although the EMUI not good enough, better than TouchWiz though , I don't see any bugs or issues for a daily driver.

Personally I think TouchWiz is much better than EMUI. However the next iteration of EMUI should be allot better than it's current iteration.

It's kind of funny that ppl compare EMUI with TouchWiz, sounds like HUAWEI's UI design already failed.

one complaint i have is you cant sort your apps in alphabetical order this drives me nuts. Also, it doesn't play nice when trying to use a different Launcher such as google or Nova. It reverts back to the stock launcher on its own.

scrolling fix

A lot of us have faced some blur or sort of scrolling irregularity on android P. It isn't very noticeable but exists. If u copy the following to root/system/build. prop, and reboot, you will notice some improvements. Actually im pretty sure it fixed it. Additionally, if anyone knows what the signal cheat i have in my screenshot does please let me know. Dunno if placebo effect but i have had better LTE all day since adding that. These are from the op6 latest P dev preview..

Is this basically the same thing as screen smoothness on Oreo-based custom ROM's (under settings>system) or would it further help with scrolling on Oreo? I haven't tried out P yet.

Dont know depends on if the feature is included inside the oreo source, i think it is just for the shakiness of scrolling in P and the google devs added this to correct it for the one plus 6 latest P preview.. make a backup and try.
I dunno if placebo but it does seem less janky to me. Thanks op!!

Hmm would make sense that it is only helpful in areas where signal is weak. Where it is strong it could mess it up
Here's what the new messages app looks like in full material 2.. as much as i could get working my substratum screwed up the lines in between each contact. I think..Yes, this has nothing to do with anything but it has potential.

In the description of the app I read custom 10, I thought it's okay, but not on this that I use I really like that it rounds the corners more, I did not find any tweak for that.
Dumb question: does this break safetynet if you use Magisk hide? This looks great, but I use Google pay and company email every day and both rely on safetynet

Probably not worth the risk. Google hide seems to work for me but I don't use any apps that really interfere with safetynet. Keep your job and stay unrooted.
If you can deal with the possible consequences and just want to give it a try, I've personally never had an app fail due to magisk. Hide has worked well for me.
