I'm interested in the Huawei Watch 2 Sport, but reading reviews and comments I found this one:
"BEWARE! International users that do not have access to Google Play Music shall avoid this watch (and all other Android Wear 2.0 devices) at all cost if you want to play music on the watch. This is because to load music onto the watch, you will need access to Play Music which is region locked."
Can anyone confirm this? The main usage for me would be running, so I need GPS + Play Music.
I will buy it on USA and use it abroad.
Why you have no access to google play music?

Hi, I'm new here and new to android in general. I really want to be able to use the Google music service on my new nexus 5 but its not available in Canada. I saw a post somewhere about a modes Google play.apk that would remove any country restrictions allowing me to access and download the music app. Is this possible? It was for a different type of phone and when I tried to install it just failed.
Hi everyone!
I wanted to check in and see if anyone knows that it may be possible to get Play Music on our speaker sporting watches at least with All Access streaming as now we have all the tools to do so including wifi and speaker support and would love to be able to stop having to sync specific albums to the storage all the time to use it. This would be a pretty popular app and I would definitely pay for one like this.
Anyone else think they would enjoy a mod or app like this to play music. I think spotify can do this on the watch but I don't have a subscription to spotify and wanna stick with my google play music. :highfive:
I am currently on a Huawei Watch.
So, a quick off the cuff maybe may be in order...
Here is why...
First, those of us without speakers may not miss out on this either what with full Bluetooth support already here. ...
Second, we can already install apps using adb. We can also install those appsm to specific folders. This is easier with watches thatmplkug in through USB, but all wear watches support adb so installing the Google software is possible. We can probably install play music directly.
Third, though our watches do not all have native direct wifi support, many do, and I am guessing it is going to be supported by the 1.4 OS. However, even if it is not, if you install an app in your /system folder, it can access wifi directly as it needs.
Fourth, and here is where the good news ends... Google play music is not a stand alone app. It relies on Google play services, and they are to say the least, complicated. We have them on the watch to communicate to the phone, but not the full version. So, I have no idea how well the app will install, let alone work. Likewise, Google only allows developers to access certain libraries and play music has not released any (to my knowledge) for Wear other than the typical hooks for controlling your music.
So, all of this adds up to a maybe...

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any coverage from any android site thus far. If you have local music files (aka not streaming, files you've uploaded to google play music) you can no longer play these files with voice commands. Google claims to be looking into it but it hasn't been fixed in months.

is the only place i can find talking about it.
is anyone else having this problem and unhappy about it?

I just got a new phone and I guess my old Nexus 5 (which I had upgraded to Nougat) didn't seem to have a problem but my new LG V30 has it. I can't seem to call on music like I used to, just by saying an artist or an artist and a song. I am not playing locally stored music (although that would also be nice) but music that I uploaded to the Google Play Music library. A terrible decision if this is how it is going to be.

I'm running Nougat on my Xperia Z5.
When I tell the Google Assistant «Play the song "track title"», it searches in YouTube and tries to open YouTube app. However, sometimes it plays it from my local storage using Google Play Music app.
But whenever I disconnect my phone from internet, Google Assistant always plays the song from phone's local storage using the same command.
By the way, it's very irritating that I have to turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data whenever I wanna play a song from my phone's storage.
Hi folks
I used to have the Galaxy Watch and I've upgraded to the Galaxy Watch 4 and it's quite disappointing that Bixby can't play songs from Spotify even for premium subscribers and even when it is paired to my Samsung phone. I've so far sideloaded and used the modified Spotify apk which allows me to search and stream but it also doesn't work it Bixby. I have even sideloaded Google Asistant but after it says it will play the song it always says there was a problem as it doesn't seem to work with native watch or phone apps. Is there any workaround for this function either in Spotify or any other music streaming service such as YouTube Music? If not is anyone currently working on it?
Thanks all
Yeah the Android ecosystem is so broken. I can't imagine apple releasing a watch without such basic functions.
Surely someone will find a way to make galaxy watch 4 bixby work with Spotify
Ok
Hi - I am new to Wear OS (just got a Watch 5 Pro). Is there an easy way to find the watch faces on the Google Play Store? I noticed that there are no separate categories for watch faces (other than just tiny ones). I do a search for watch faces but I don't think I'm getting a list of all that are available. Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, Play store has categories. When I start Play Store on watch, there are about 8 categories, one of them is "Watch faces recommended for you" (but I have Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra LTE based on Wear OS 2 watch, Wear OS 3 on Samsung is heavily customized by Samsung, so these categories may not be available and it may show just faces compatible with your watch). When accessing Play store on computer, there is category "Watch faces" and I can istall watch faces to phone and watch directly. But I believe most watch faces can't be found on Play store, but in some App/website and then installed to watch (similar way as installing apps from unknown sources on Android phone, enable adb and then connect over WiFi to youe watch and install apk witch watch faces).
PS: there is a list of apps on computer Play store:
Watch apps - Android Apps on Google Play
Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more. Anytime, anywhere, across your devices.
play.google.com
Not many (but it's more watch, than computer;-) and apps are also filtered by Wear OS version/country, but this link should give you overvies of available Wear OS apps.
PS2: There is way how to install nearly any Android app to Wear OS watch, but I use it as pedometer and for basic notifications and don't need to run unoptimized games/apps on it.
Thank you for the suggestions. I don't remember seeing a watch face category when looking at the Google Play Store on my computer. I must have missed it. Thanks again.
For tizenOs was more free watch faces.
I am making watch faces for Wear OS. I also cannot find any of my watch faces when I search, unless I search for my developer name (MURADIUM). Nobody around the world would just receive a revelation and search for my name. They don't...
