Hi Guys,
I gather not many people actually use Google Music in the UK due to the required work arounds to get it but I am quite interested in using it.
For those who do/have used it:
Do you like it?
Is it worth the work around hassle to gain access?
Will getting it now via the workaround cause problems when it's actually released?
What worthy alternative services are there that aren't iTunes/iCloud/Match?
I want a music service in which I can own my music as well as purchase music, add my existing music to the service, and sync between devices.
I feel like there's nothing that does that apart from iTunes Match and Google Music
I love it, its my everyday music player... I no longer keep music files on my phone because I stream it from the cloud.
Likewise. I have been using it for a few months and it is absolutely life-changing. I just uploaded my entire music collection and now just stream it all instead of having it stored on my phone or memory card.
But how do you guys upload it in countries other than US?

If you need the APK to get the app on your phone, how do you get updates?
Do you have to use a proxy only to sign up or do you need it for desktop streaming?
Can your purchase music in the app?
Once you register via proxy you can use it anywhere, Play store for music doesn't work but who cares.
You only need the proxy for initial registration. For everything else, no proxy required. So in reality, its very little effort for lots of awsomeness
EDIT July 1st 2014: NO LONGER WORKS SINCE GOOGLE MUSIC v5.6.1608P.1252217. Works with older versions.
See this post for details and possible alternatives.

Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic is a new app that let you stream your cloud Google Music uploaded by yourself and from the All Access subscription (including Radio) to any UPnP / DLNA device:
XBMC
DLNA TVs
PCs (WMP, foobar2000, ...)
WDTV Live
Xbox 360 (including when playing games)
PS3 (playback must be started from the PS3)
Sonos
Android (with BubbleUPnP)
various hifi gear from Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo
...many more devices!
Google Play listing
Youtube video streaming to Xbox 360 and XBMC
UPnP /DLNA devices appear as Chromecast devices that can be selected in the Google Play Music app for playback and control.
You heard it right: you use the Google Play Music app to play to mentionned devices.
If it doesn't work with your UPnP / DLNA device please send me a log file (to bubblesoftproducts at gmail.com), following these instructions:
IMPORTANT: in Google Play Music, make sure no device is connected (disconnect it if necessary with the cast icon). Then Swipe the Google Music Play app from the recent apps list (to force it to reload when it will be launched next)
launch Cast To UPnP/DLNA For GMusic
enable "logging to file" in Menu > About
IMPORTANT: Exit the app using menu > Exit
restart Cast To UPnP/DLNA For GMusic
start the Google Play Music app, select the problematic device, play something and trigger the problem
exit Cast To UPnP/DLNA For GMusic (menu > Exit)
connect your phone to your PC or MAC and mail me the file /Android/data/com.bubblesoft.android.upnpcast/log.txt found on the SD Card
OMG if this works, it will be awesome. Just installing now.

is ps3 supported?
Seems to timeout an awful lot. Every few songs I have to restart the app because GMusic can't see the target. I suspect it occurs when the tablet drops off the WiFi.
just tried this with nexus 7 2013 and the Cast icon didn't show up when you click Start to launch. Kill all running process and restarted but still the same.

You need some UPnP / DLNA devices to play to on your network for the icon to show up. What device did you expect to see ?

Anything really .. xmbc, PS3, google tv, plex, windows media center .. did you test with the current version of Google play music? (mine is listed as v5.1.1109K.772337)
EDIT:
Reinstalling xmbc, then restart seems to do the trick. Will have to test the rest again later.

PS3: not remotelly controllable so does not qualify
Google TV: it won't show up magically if you do not install an UPnP AV renderer app on it
plex: probably like xbmc, require to enable it for remote control
WMC: If it is like WMP, probably need to enable it for remote control
Thanks for creating and making available your app and for fixing the 401 Unauthorised error so quickly. Prior to your app I'd been using an Airplay application, but your app is more what I had been looking for.
There's still another issue that causes Google Music to occasionally stop detecting my DLNA device. It is usually resolved by making your app active again, and does not require restarting of either apps, and typically occurs only between songs.

Try v1.0.3 which should be available on Google Play soon and let me know if you still have the problem.
Thanks for this! Any chance of getting a similar app for other Google Cast apps (Netflix, YouTube)?
Wow easy setup and works flawlessly with my xbox and samsung tv as well. The gui the xbox provides is much better than samsung's allshare play gui however. Thanks for this! Buying the full version now!
v1.0.4 will be shortly available on Google Play.
- fixed app not working anymore on Android 4.0.x
- fixed some UPnP/DLNA devices crashing Google Play Music (some LG TV in particular)
- fixed rare crash when pressing the play/pause button in Google Play Music
- fixed volume issues on some problematic devices (Yamaha)
- fixed track advance possibly not working on some Onkyo devices
- updated Help
Nice app! This gives my Raspberry Pi _the_ feature I was missing! (Too bad my Chromecast is already on its way - well, one can't have too many toys, right?)
There's however one issue I came across: I bought the unlocker on my phone. However it seems I cannot get the software unlocked on my other phone and on my tablet. On all those devices (except my "1st" phone says that I should buy the unlocker. But even if I press the "buy" button, Google tells me that I already got that item (and does not even give me the option to pay again).
Could you, dear folks at Bubblesoft, implement an "unlock checker" routine?
Thanks!

On your other devices than you phone, make sure to download the app in Google Play using the Google Account that you used for the purchase (in Google Play : Settings > Account). You can revert the account once you've downloaded the app.
oooo, you are an arm twister. i have the bubble server paid for but this app has a seemless way of playing back things from the app itself.
You know what would really be cool if you could? if you have your bubble server be able to handle playbacks from other apps as well and play to the upnp capable players. of course also maybe including this seemless playback in bubble server would be cool too, but yeah.
Is it possible to create an app for movies or YouTube or other apps, too?

volume issue
App works great, a few hiccups here and there but not too often.
One bug I've noticed though is the volume selected doesn't seem to "hold" between songs. I'll turn it down to about 50% and when the next song begins it'll jump back up to 100% while the slider still remains at 50%.
Happens on both my Nexus 4 and 7 (2013) casting to my 360.

Believe it or not but this is a nasty WTF Xbox360 bug that resets volume to 100% between songs (this is the hardware reseting vol to 100%: from the app's POV, volume hasn't changed).
The app workarounds this bug, but it looks like it doesn't work for you. The workaround uses a non-scientific determined waiting time value between 2 commands that seems to work on most Xbox. I will increase it at little hoping that it will fix it on your Xbox.
Have had a few issues using this app but works great 90% of the time.
I'm currently experiencing a drop in connection between songs or when I skip a track. This only happens when I play though my Panasonic VT30.
Hey All
I recently subscribed to google music (all access) where you have access to all music and can cache it to device,to play offline! initially brilliant..
but i could never get it to play wireless through my tv/sound system. (i tried many chromecast type apps)
i insatalled "bubbleupnp" via playstore, it also has its own module in xposed which i downloaded.....now all music on device including "google all access" will stream through my soundsystem connected to my network.without the need of a chromcastt dongle
just thought i would share it with y'all
Cheers:good:
Is this really a HTC One Mini-specific tip? Also; Chromecast.

In a way it is, seeing as our phones have limited storage and Google Music allows us to stream all our music from Google's servers. Great space saver!

@oskimon. no its not really HTC One Mini specific but neither is some of the other threads within the "theme and apps" section, i just thought
i would share my findings with the rest of the one mini community, afterall XDA is built on information shared between users within the community.
1. I do not have a "google chromecast dongle" nor do i want buy one.
2.I'm fully aware of other "chromecast" type apps but i found "bubbleupnp" in particular to be the one that best suited my needs at the time of OP.
3.Some of these "other" apps failed to play or even recognise my google music, which Im lead to believe this is down to the way that Google caches music on a device.
so... thanks for your input.
@RuffBuster thanks for your support
Hi!
I am wondering what you excatly meant by "my soundsystem". Maybe a Raspberry Pi? It must be a device that can handle UPnP right?
thanks
Google has started testing streaming apps! This allows you to use an app without ever actually downloading the app. The app is streamed through Google search. If your search turns up an app in the results there will be an option to stream the app. This cloud based technology will allow you to experience the app as if it were fully installed on your device.
This could be huge for anyone who owns a phone with little to no memory. This could also mean that phones of the future may ship with even less memory built in. Could you imagine a future where google charges you for a box where you house your streaming apps? Hopefully this is not anything Google is considering. It seems to be a pretty awesome feature. It will work as long as you are on wifi. Head to Google and check it out!
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/28/business/media/alphonso-app-tracking.html
Is there an (open-source) app that notifies its users if the camera/microphone/Bluetooth are in use and which apps are using them?
scenarios:
Google Play is currently streaming music over Bluetooth. I want to know that Google Play is using Bluetooth right now.
I'm playing a game right now and it has enabled my microphone. I want to be aware of that.
A website opened in one of the Firefox tabs is currently using my camera (front/rear), I want to be aware of that.
And so on. You get the concept.
Would love to have an app that keeps track of the trackers. If Tasker can do it, even better.
