I am done with Samsung after this. This is the second Samsung smartphone that I have owned where after sale support is HORRIBLE.
I was wondering how many people feel the same way.
Is the Captivate your last Samsung phone?
Most likely the last. If it weren't for the screen and snappiness after the lag-fix, it would probably have been returned by now. After the lag-fix I'm fairly impressed with the speed of the device, just wish the blasted GPS would work like it does for iPhone, HTC and Motorola users. I feel cheated. Downloading new apps from Marketplace is another point of weakness for those of us in the land where 3G is nothing but a dream. There is a problem downloading apps on the Edge network, sometimes they start downloading right away and other times you got to walk away from the phone for a few hours and it'll download when it feels like it.
My wife has the Rugby II from Samsung and I'll be darned if that thing won't last for days without a battery charge. Amazing how long it manages to live without a battery recharge.
Abso-freaking-lutely
I thought samsung had gotten serious when it said it wanted to be the #1 smartphone manufacturer and they promised a strong commitment to software updates since they knew that their name was garbage in this arena. Well I bought a Captivate on release day and its been nothing but trouble ever since. Random reboots, GPS that's non-functional, etc. Then finally 2 months later they release a supposed GPS fix, that 90% of the people cant even install on their phones and it doesnt even fix the GPS, mine works worse now than before. And on top of all that now my digital compass is unusable, it always points 90-180 degrees in the wrong direction. On maps its funny, I'm driving one direction and it points behind me or perpendicular to me. And dont even get me started on the completely pathetic battery life. 12 hours on one charge is completely unacceptable. Iphone4's that are using the same CPU/GPU get days on their batteries. The S-AMOLED screen looks pretty good (not as good as the retina display, but better than just about anything else) but it is a total battery hog.
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish I had just gotten the iphone4, its so much better, its not even close.

This is my second samsung phone in 10+ years and my first smartphone from them
I'm actually complete opposite from you maybe because i haven't had any issues outside of the GPS and i'm more than willing to give them a chance to fix it. It's not like i'm using the GPS all the time for the fact that i live in nyc
If they can't fix the GPS to work like it should (like on the Nexus One, Droid, etc), then yes, this will probably be my last Samsung phone. They've screwed people over with the Behold too (atleast I think that was the phone).
HTC isn't known for great reception, but I loved my Nexus One and wish I wouldn't have sold it now.
Hardly. I've gone from an old Sammy flip phone, to the Blackjack, to the Jack, to the Captivate. Whole family is on Samsung's now, Flight, Impression, can't think of my daughter's at the moment. Love Samsungs!

No, but only because of xda
If I had to rely on Samsung for support, then I would have voted yes. The JH7 update has been a fiasco. Without this forum and the dedicated work of designgears and clockworkmod, my phone would still be in an unstable state from the failed (at 100%!) installation. I'll be sending both of those guys some money to pay for the great support -- it's unfortunate that companies like Samsung and AT&T don't have a clue and can't provide the same level of service. Keep in mind that Samsung has full access to every detail of the hardware and software while our guys have done everything through reverse engineering. Incredible job!

I never used a samsung smartphone before this one, but when I had regular flip phones, I wouldnt use anything other than a samsung, I loved them. Everytime Sprint came out with the newest samsung flip phone I'd run to get it, they are just excellent phones. Everytime I strayed from samsung to try a razr or LG, etc I always regretted it within a week and went right back to samsung. But I am utterly disappointed in this captivate. I am kicking myself everyday for not returning it within the 30 days to get an iphone. I kept holding out hope for fixes for most of its shortfalls and everyone keeps saying how open android is, well so far nothing. No fully functioning custom ROMs, no cyanogen, no AOSP, and you have to root and hack like hell to get any customization at all. Its no more open than the iOS, on that you have to jailbreak but then you can go to Cydia and there are thousands and thousands of apps and customizations you can load.

I love my Captivate, but only because it isn't stock. If I had to keep my phone stock, I think my satisfaction levels would go way down.

You do realize you're comparing a messaging phone to a smartphone right? No smartphone will consistently give you that kind of battery life with any kind of use.
Great Tech, GPS is ok at best./......my first android device, and i like it a lot.
I really like this phone, but if Samsung doesn't fix the GPS for current Captivate owners, I will never buy another Samsung product.
And, either way, I won't go with AT&T again either.
I had the iphone 3g, 3gs, and the iphone 4 for a few weeks. I also had a nexus one for a while. All great phones, all great GPS accuracy. I left my iphone 3gs for my Nexus One because of the voice to text, and the google navigation. The iphone 4 dropped almost all my calls. It went back fast. I went with the Samsung Captivate because it trumped my Nexus in a lot of ways. I did not expect this GPS issue when I purchased it. By the time Samsung had announced that the GPS issue was indeed an issue, I had already returned mine 3 times because the GPS would not lock. They announced a fix sometime soon in the future, so I stuck with it. I would gladly go with another android device if it was available for AT&T and was comparable to my Captivate. The only other device close is the Sony Ericsson X10. I am not going back to 1.6 and no multitouch.
Unfortunately this is the best Android that will work with AT&T's 3g network at the moment. Samsung built an awesome device, they just need to fix the GPS.
Yup, this is going to be my last Samsung phone.
Samsung is just too incompetent.
I had an HTC before this and it wasn't perfect and there were many vocal members that thought negatively about it. My fiance has an iPhone and is always complaining about it. When I look at Motorola threads I see lots of complaints.
I'm seeing a pattern here. No phone is perfect.
This is the best phone I've played with though. I rarely use GPS so that obviously doesn't affect my like/dislike of the phone. And from what I can tell most people are angry because of the GPS.
I can't honestly understand what the big deal is with GPS. Do people get lost that easily that they need to be looking at a GPS map every minute of the day? I'm sure for some jobs it could be a mandatory thing, but I'm just a little mystified at how many people are upset about GPS like their lives depend on it every day or something. Maybe I'm just lucky that I don't get lost easily, or can follow directions from mapquest?
I'm not trying to insult people with GPS issues, I just truly don't understand how so many people think the GPS issue is a deal breaker. Especially considering it will almost surely be fixed sooner rather than later.
And if people are upset about the update from Samsung not working... patience? I mean you're on the XDA forums posting, so you must have some experience here and know that when there's a problem with smartphones it gets fixed pretty quickly by the community you're a part of. So what's the rush to condemn Samsung for a buggy patch that'll probably be re-written soon anyhow?
This is my first Samsung phone. So far I'm pretty impressed. I had Apple 3G, RIM Blackberry Perl, Motorola Razor, Sony Erickson (forgot the model #) ect... So I had tried so many different brand in my years owning regular cellphones and smartphones. But so far, Samsung Captivate is the best among them all.
If Samsung would come out with a dual core or three core cpu, 4 to 5 inch monitor, front facing camera and 1080p video recording smartphone next year, I'll definitely get it...
I kind of knew that all OTA firmware updates from all major cellphone manufactures will have some kind of issues. That's why in the future, I will download the firmware and install the updates manually.
I agree with sschrupp. Ignoring the GPS issue, I've had no problems with this phone. I had iPhone before this, and I liked it, but not as much as I like this phone. Android satisfies the need to tinker and tweak (thank you XDA). The hardware is pretty darn good too. I get good reception here in the boonies of Kansas, the screen is gorgeous. ignoring GPS issues, I really like this phone.

I agreed with you. No cellphone is perfect, especially when they are made in China or other asian places... they bound to have some kind of defect or it will not last more than one year...
Wow you guys are crazy
This phone has been great, the best I have owned in years.
So the OTA update didnt work for you because you modified your phone from the original state? Boo Hoo. You cant expect a patch to work for your modified rom when it was designed for stock
yes If i can find a nexus one under 400 bucks this thing is gone tonight. i could care less about GPS since (call me old fashioned) i just look at what street to take but the fact that i have to wait until october for froyo id rather deal with edge on at&t then eclair and no CM
After seeing all these "I'm leaving" threads, I'd like to do a little experiment. It's quite obvious some of you bought the G2X thinking it would be the perfect phone, void of any major flaws.
I'd like to compile some data and find out what device the G2X replaced for you and also if you are bonified happy with the G2X.
For me, I came from the Nexus One (which I still have and that is now collecting dust), and I am very happy with my G2X. My particular device has difficulty maintaining UV while sleeping and also has some minor backlight bleed, but I am still very happy with my purchase.
BTW, the reason I posted this thread in General, is because all the "announcement" threads are also located here.

I came from the nexus one as well and am happy. Only froze on me once, no reboots and you only see any screen bleed if in a dark room and a black screen. My only complaint is my data seems to lock up after using it a bit and I have to resort a minute or 2 before it works again.

I had that problem occasionally with my Nexus and also with the G2X now. I think it's more of a problem with tower load than anything else.
I also came from a Nexus One.
I love this phone. Mine is rock solid. Kinda feel bad for everyone who seem to be having so many problems with theirs. Although I can't help but wonder if the problems are actually that widespread or if its a very vocal minority.
I came from the HTC EVO and I am very happy with the G2X. The G2X, in my case, only have a slight light bleed at the very top corners, other that, everything else is bugs in the software that will eventually get straightened out.
The EVO...was definitely the worst phone I have ever owned based on physical quality control.

Believe it or not, but that's the first time I've ever heard someone say that... Did you try multiple devices and get all lemons, or just settle with your first one? I have several friends that have EVO's and love them... given they aren't what you'd call geeks though. Maybe the EVO really was too mainstream to be accepted by geeks like us.
On that note, maybe the G2X can also be placed in that category, albeit at a slightly higher level... in other words it takes the geekiest geek to enjoy the G2X despite it's flaws.

I am still very happy with my Dell, and WP in general. But I am estatic about my G2x. No buyers remorse, no regrets
I came from the G1 lol.
Huge improvement however the g1 had way better GPS and battery life.

LG G2X Running Cyanogen 7 #50
Came from the HD2 running CM7. I loved that phone...and now I love this one. I've only had two reboots...both times shortly after plugging it into my laptop (connection?). The only other complaint is the the scuffs and the small chip out of the glass from dropping it three times. Stupid me, I had no case or screen protector; and the concrete isn't kind. Anyway...I love it!
You know... I remember when I got my G2X and I tested the GPS on the stock froyo rom. It locked in seconds... I'm thinking the GPS problems will all be fixed with a new set of drivers.
WOOO! Thought I had a problem phone since I was not getting any data and after tmobile removed all data connection, and re-added, all is well again. This is coming from not getting ANY data the last day.
This phone is now the beastziLLa I thought it was. No issues here other than battery life which seems to be random on my end (pretty much no drain overnight, but does typically last the entire day for me).
Great phone! (coming from a rooted/modded HD2 which I still love and dont know what to do with it, anyone looking for an HD2?)
Peace!
I came from a mytouch 4g...but had a hd2 for a while...and so many other phones...g2..cliq2...sidekick 4g...but this phone seems to be what I was looking for...I'm a phone person so ill soon get the sensation ..
But I still love this phone..

Just realized we're from the same city! Wow...
I came from the G1 too. Ran everything since CM5 to Froyo By Laszlo. Too bad the dev's test phone blew up. He could have kept the development going. Right now I'm on my 2nd G2x, because my first one had a screen defect...and a dead pixel...and GPS issues...and random reboots...It pretty much sucked.
I desperately needed a replacement. But I wanted to give the G2x another try because I like the G2x overall. I'm not quite liking the Sensation yet, even with the features it has over the G2x. The date number for the broken one was 5-06-2011, and my new one is 5-14-2011. My replacement certainly works better, but I don't think I can flash ANY of Faux's kernels onto it. I haven't tried Trinity yet though.
Other than that, it works perfect. GPS works, Wi-fi, no reboots. So far 5 hrs off the charger and it's at 71%. It's a toss-up. You have a chance to get a good one or a bad one. But if you get a good one, it's a keeper.
I came from whats in my sig had that phone for 2 years and loved it Bought my g2x on launch day. Totally happy with the phone I did get one replacement 6 days in due to major screen bleed. New one has it in the extreme top corners but nothing I cant live with. I have had 3 reboots but the phone was full operational by the time I picked it up so again nothing I would complain about. I didn't have much hope for battery life as battery technology has long since been behind the curve in advancement. I average with features turned off and moderate use (look at news 2 or 3 times a day the occasional youtube video search for wire schematic, constant texts from the wife) about 11 hours. Now with all the features on GPS, wifi, and such and the same moderate use about 6 or 7 hours. but if I add in an hour long charge sometime around mid day everything is perfect. It's a bad ass phone, I am happy with my purchase and with the Dev support I see roaming in here I will probably sport the G2x for the next 2 years lol.

That is so cool! What a small world! Nice to have a neighbor on here
I came from a G2, loved that phone because of the easily removable battery door, hardware keyboard, and LED light. However, I am very satisfied with my G2x even though I miss those three features.
My previous phone was the Nexus One. I was EXTREMELY happy with that phone. Best phone I have ever had by far. Before that was the G1. That phone eventually got slow and sluggish and the Nexus One never did. It was smooth from day one up until the day I had it a week or so ago. I don't really regret selling it since I technically got something better, but i'm not sure how much more I like this phone right now.
It's great as far as the look of the phone. It's a fast phone. But the GPS not working is a huge turn off right now. I don't use it a real lot, but I use it a small amount at work when driving. The GPS was extremely slow and sluggish the few times I tried using it. It would sometimes take a little while for the GPS to start as well. Aside from the GPS, I haven't really had any other issues. It has restarted a few times that i've actually seen, but that isn't a huge deal to me. The battery life has been pretty good.
I gave up my G2 for this G2x and, I haven't had one problem with it.
I do miss my G2 but, my wife has one now if I want to go back to it.

I just have to say we buy what we like. I bought this phone because I like the way it looks, feels, and works. I see some lag but have seen it in other phones. Most of the time it is the skin that is on top of the android software that causes this and once rooted and a different rom is put on there the lag goes away. That is just the way it is I do not understand why people complain about this phone just take it back and get something else and let us that do keep this phone enjoy it.
This is supposed to be the world's fastest phone. It lags like hell because of a defect. Manufacturers should be made aware of their buyers' complaint so that they prioritize a remedy.
This is not slight lag. It is a big **** lag, a very serious mistake or problem. It is something extraordinary not a slight performance issue.

This phone really sucks, i owned the flex 1 and even the screen was a **** (slow and grainy) and the camera soso, the speed, battery life and temperature were fine, i was happy with that phone. Then bought the flex2, the screen looks better same as the camera but is really lagging, no matter using the web browser or just checking the notification panel, very often gets slow, for charging i must use the supplied charger because if use a battery pack charge only at 490 mah, the battery life also sucks (compared to the flex1), also already took 2 times to warranty because a yellowish shade on the screen. I wont recommend buy this phone to anyone, LG really made a big mistake, Anyways afraid of buy anything with snapdragon 810 (maybe that is the main problem). I bought the Hong kong version
damn thie phone really sucks
Took my flex 2 back to sprint because of heat issuses and the screen died the 3rd day owning the phone. Since i was within my 14 days i turned it back in for a note 4 and can't be any happier. Stay away from this phone if your planning on spending money for it. I thought it was just my device but it's every flex 2 buy if you want but you been worn people are not lying this phone got issuses software can't help.
Dont know what you guys are doing wrong but it´s a nice phone.
Mine had a Display with an yellow spot Problem but it´s not so bad because I get a new one.
Everything else is fine except the lags but thats only a software Problem.
It was not overheating. The Benchmarks shows that this phone have a great Performance but the ui is not optimized.
Except the 2GB RAM it´s the best phone in My opinion because
- Flex Display (not everyone got that)
- newst CPU
- LG UI (i know it lags but it will be solved . LG gives you much more Options to customize than Samsung and HTC)
- Buttons on the back
There are HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6 but except the S6 Edge there isnt anything much new where you would say that is the Money worth if you got a phone which is still good.
I got a note 3.
In 2 or 3 days I get a new one and then I will Report. If there are Issues which I didint see, I will Report.

By lg update history you going to be waiting a great time for that update to fix those issues. The g4 will get all the updates the g flex 2 will be just like the og flex stuck on 4.1.1 hopefully the g4 rom can be ported to work on this phone. The lag didn't bother me just the heat issuses i know there's some good lg flex 2 without issues out there but the i had were bad ones . My first one ran fine no over heating or nothing then when i went to go to make a phone call and the screen was all blk and when i try to pull status bar down it was all kinda funky colors.
Got my update and mine is flying hehehe
Not sure what everyone is complaining about. I get a little stutter here and there but that has been the same thing with pretty much every Android phone I've owned that is not running vanilla Android on it. I have 0 complaints about this phone.
I think it's all about RAM size
I have serious issues when the phone is connected trhough 4G. The phones gets very laggy, and is hotter.
I got my new one since yesterday and now without any problem.
It lags less than before. Only little shutters sometimes but much better since the OTA update.
I like this phone
My first one had an yellow spot on the display. Except that there was only the lag problem but it was without the update.
Working in a phone shop I have noticed that the demo g flex 2 has a very different screen. There is no graininess, or greyish hue. And battery seems to be so much better. Left the demo video playing on full brightness on for 8 hours before it conked out. And seem to be getting much better benchmarking scores even though it is full of bloat ware.

Well i have the Sprint flex 2 and the screen seems just as good as my g3. Idk why this phone is hated so much i love my flex 2 alot better than my nexus 6 i got rid of. Better specs and more software that utilizes the screen is a win in my book. People complain about to much gimmicks or bloat but ain't no way in hell i will ever touch a nexus device again. The nexus 6 has way more issues than this device but people enjoy it. So with that said if you don't like it don't buy it. This phone was not made for everyone, but for the people that it's made for they will find it more than adequate for daily use.
I had a Sprint flex 2. The screen was great. I had no problem at all with over heating. Battery was bad the first day, but after a reset, it was much better. Had some occasional lag, and hot spot wouldn't work. But I read all the bad reports on the forums, and returned it. Now I wish I had it back. I keep checking swappa for a used one at a good price. When I find one, I will be back on it.
It will only become more popular! I'm impressed with its specs (except ram) and considering an unlocked one for my T-Mobile usa.
Also, US Cellular will be getting it 3/26/15: http://www.androidauthority.com/us-cellular-g-flex-2-march-26-596394/
Apparently... there are batches of s%itty phones and batches of good ones. I'm the lucky one with a good one. The software is clearly not fully optimized hence the (in my case) occasional lag.
I think the thermal throttling is set to be too safe, but on the other hand... considering how some phones heat up, it's quite understandable. I wish I could change the throttling settings because mine doesn't heat up AT ALL. I was running Antutu and Geekbench about 7 times back to back. It just got kinda warm. The only time I noticed it getting warm-er was when I did the factory reset and was downloading all (68) apps over 4G with one bar. So I believe it was the radio what contributed to the increased temperature.
Btw, I found that Geekbench is the only benchmark (I tried) that drops score significantly at the third run. With Antutu I found, the drop isn't that significant even after 5 runs back to back.
Edit: Actually, I take that back. Antutu drops about 8000 points (from 53000 to 45000) the third run (64bit mode)
But as with everything and this phone especially, YMMV.

Same here. Swapped it over twice and then got a note edge. Since then have got another g flex which so far has been suprisingly good.

I also have a Demo unit which was supplied by LG and Sprint and I find it runs quite well except that there is no Wi-Fi Calling. Everytime I try to enable wi-fi calling, it goes into Device Self Service and tries to load something then gives a me a network error message to call customer service. Everything else works fine.

I need a lot of people to tell me "I own a LG V10 in 2018 and it's working just fine"
So I just got burned twice in a row. Bought an LG V20 that has an apparently famous "Radio: off" bug that will show it's face after an update and render it's cellular features totally unusable with no fix in sight... which was actually fine for me. I thought the V20 was an ugly lookin' phone anyway, and apparently I'd dodged a bullet on a pretty easily breakable piece of camera glass. Tons of threads were complaining about this, with many people ready to swear off LG altogether (apparently the radio can get un-fix-ably stuck in "off" position specifically on a lot of LG phones compared to other OEMs).
I let that one go, but then decided I was being a bit harsh to just go with the flow of LG hate since it's really the first time I'd ever had a problem with LG. LG Thrill, G3, Nexus 5 and G4 never gave me a single problem... so I decided to give 'em another chance. Got a V10 and was instantly enamored with the way it looked compared to the V20. The curved top and bottom, those sturdy silver edges, and that incredibly grip-friendly material on the back won me over immediately. Only one big problem: It's network features were all kinds of jacked up.
I tried connecting it to my work WiFi, home WiFi, a public access point, my mobile hotspot... this bastard wouldn't take anything. It displayed the networks just fine, but seconds after I typed in my key it'd simply say "saved" without even seeming like it made an attempt to connect. I could sleep->wake the device and be met with "disabled" or "authentication problem" no matter what sequence of disabling radios and powercycling were done prerequisitely. While this one didn't have the radio: off bug the V20 gave me (and it did allow me to make calls and send texts/SMS),what it had was arguably far more annoying: it would not get on 4GLTE and stay there. It was spastically jumping between 3G and HSPA+... sometimes dipping down to EDGE... I must've spent hours screwing with APN and network settings, only to have it validated in the rare instances I did see it on 4GLTE... my APN and network settings were fine, the phone was a dud in a way where I'd actually have to remove the freakin' motherboard and replace a chip (according to this video, anyway). Waaay more work than I wanna do on a phone that I could just return.
Well that's my last week and a half of nightmares. I just sent the V10 back today, but I'm kinda saddened by that 'cause I really wanted the V10 to work for me.
So what I'm asking you all to do is just tell me I've been exceptionally unlucky. Tell me third time's a charm. Sound off with how well your V10s have been working for you so that I'm inspired to give it another go.
I do not have issues with network at all, as a matter of fact it is quite stable and all non gimmick features are ticked but I've been using Asus with SD625 chip. V10, however, is one power hungry device in comparison to the level I could barely stand. It simply won't replace my zenfone 3 anytime soon. I have 4000 mah battery being shipped out and going to test it once arrived. If the result turns out good, only then I probably give the V10 another try.
I'm happy with my LG V10 and I had no problem until now. No connectivity issues (WiFi, Celular, Bluetooth), no screen issues, no battery issues, no nothing. I even got a software update to V30c-Mar-23-2018...
After replacing the motherboard less than a year ago (bootlooped, no issues till then), there is no problem whatsoever with my V10 (H960A). As a matter of fact I just received a new firmware update (V30c-MAR-23-2018).
I'm on 30c f600s too, Naptime and a few other tweaks found in threads seems to do a pretty decent job to slow down the standby drain. It's a pity I can't root the device but that's not really a big deal.
Have a LG V10 H960A European. It will do 2 years next 26th May. Never had any issues and love the phone., specially its audio features and screen. Last update 30C got it even faster.

Based on the good word here, I decided to give it another go. And thank God I did because not only did I get a better condition V10, but I got it for $77 (about $40 less than I spent on one that didn't work). It came in yesterday, and third time was absolutely a charm.
Additionally, this one updated to 7.0 instead of being locked to 5.0... and most importantly... it works. It works tremendously... it even caters to all my little weird OCDs like being able to control what does and doesn't get to hide the navbar.
Verizon 990 since the first week it was out. No issues except with GPS sometimes. But it is in need of a clean install

i owned the g4 for about 1 year then sold it after that i bought the V10 it worked for about 6 months then boom bootlooped on jan/2018 till now
I use the v10, and it's easily my favorite phone despite its various issues which I think says a lot. I messed up my original phone with a bad flash, and went through a string of 3 different refurbs before I found one with no issues. The one consistent issue I've had with it on occasion is the headphone jack. I walk around with it in my pocket a lot listening to music, and every now and then it will get into a state where the left headphone is cutting out. Since the headphone jack is user replaceable, I've done this a couple times. Today it happened again and I took a closer look. Basically, the connector that they use to connect it to the motherboard isn't held down with enough clamping force. A year of walking around with it in your pocket will eventually rock the connector loose. I was able to remedy the situation with a bit of electrical tape on top of the connector before I screwed the back on.
Overall it really has been my favorite phone. I really like listening to music when I walk around, but I'm picky about sound quality. I work for a company that makes pro audio hardware, and the v10 uses the same DAC as some of our top level gear. The sound is amazing through my HD-25's. Battery life is a little lackluster overall, but remember one of the key selling points of this phone is a removable battery. Not only that, the soft touch rubber back is super easy to rip right off without being afraid you're going to damage it. I bought the $20 battery cradle and just keep an extra battery charged at all times. I typically use the phone until the battery is near dead, then just swap it out with the other battery and plug the bank in wherever. Having the quick charge is handy in a pinch though when I've been lazy / forgetful. The fact that it's still my favorite phone for all its flaws is pretty amazing. Just imagine if they made a phone in the v10's enclosure, but a bit snappier and without all the QC issues? A man can dream right?

I'm wondering for those that replaced the mainboard (presumably through an authorized LG service centre), do they warrant that the replaced mainboards are free from bootloop issues that have plagued the retail ones? I'm on the fence between replacing the mainboard or sourcing a LG V30+ for cheap.
My V10 died 2 days ago. Main board replaced by LG in Germany September 2017 . Suddenly died GREEN SCREEN OF DEATH
I've had my US ATT v10 for 2 years, and it has worked fine. I got the dreaded bootloop issue, and LG fixed it for free; I don't know exactly what they did.
I do remain on Android 6, and despite emails to att and lg, no update has come since September of last year. I bought a Huawei Mate 10 Pro that will replace the lg very soon.
I love the v10, its size, grip, back, etc, but I can't stand the lack of updates in a year and a half.
Well, after upgrading form my recently deceased LGG2 (KK) to LGV10 (N) and having one hell of a time adapting to all the changes (/storage/external_SD => /storage/72DB-3A49/ OR /mnt/media_rw/72DB-3A49/):
It actually works !
**The FX Folder Shortcuts are all still alive, as FX has a stange way of making them work (by using it's internal media card as point for files)
** Most XPosed tweask still work (Aside from ForceTouch, HandleExternal Storage, all my other tweaks (PBCM, XPosedEdge, SliceToasts...) all work.
** A nice display that honors the old versions.
**Restoring with LGUP (if you have the right kdz... *cough*) actually works.
Not a bad phone. Even for 2018 Standarts. The operation is rather smooth aswell.

I had LG G3 for 2+ years and it was the best phone I ever had. When my wife decided she wanted a new phone I chose for her the V10 as if I was choosing it for me. Almost 2 years later the phone is working perfectly and she bought a P20 Pro, so I got to take the V10. My G3 died a while ago because of motherboard issues and I couldn't bring myself to fix, as I was afraid it was going to be only temporary. So for a time I went with an office provided K10, which was fine, but was no flagship. Believe me, when I say that now, with the V10 I can again get to feel that LG experience I was so accustomed to. Like the IR blaster, the back buttons (all of them, not like the K10), the menu and the ease of use. Put to the bowl the fingerprint, the second screen and the amazing back this phone has and I tell you - there is no better phone! When my wife decided to buy a new one, I also jumped on the wagon with her...and guess what - nothing caught my eye. NOTHING! So I settled for the V10 and boy, am I happy! So tl;dr - yes, in 2018 there are still people who use this phone and it works a blast!
