Hey all, I searched the forums and didn't find a similar issue so I'd like to pose this question to everyone:
Does anyone have issues with the device waking up from deep sleep?
If I leave my phone alone without using it for about two hours, it takes a good 15 seconds between when my fingerprint is registered to actually getting to the homescreen and being usable.
I find this to be a very strange occurrence and am not sure what is causing the issue.
I am running Nova Launcher on top but I don't have any apps installed that are egregious. Its mostly all Google Apps and Uber/Lyft so I'm not sure what the issue is.
Does anyone even know how to troubleshoot the issue at all? Since there isn't root, I wish I knew which app my phone was "choking" on to figure out how to best handle the situation.
Thanks for the replies folks!

Agreed. That definitely doesn't happen to me when I pick up my phone in the morning.

Hi Guys
Samsung Captivate is my very first Smartphone and i always knew i was gonna get an android phone.
I bought this phone yesterday and i absolutely love it.
But i am facing some problems
1. the phone is a bit laggy.
2. the battery life doesnt seem very great.
3. The third one is very weird. I went to the android market to download apps. Once i select an app to download and install, there is no notification on the top area where it should show it. I mean it takes almost 10-15 minutes for that notification to show up and the phone is very unresponsive during these times. Also the music player crashed a couple of times.
Has anyone come across this problem. Please let me know!
Well , that was the first part..
I want to know the experiences of people who have already rooted the phone and installed Froyo on it. What are the noticeaable changes? Is there any improvement in battery life?
I am pretty sure i wanna root this phone and get rid of the ATT apps etc etc.
BTW i have attached a wallpaper which i hope u guys will like
Cheers

There is no Froyo for captivate , not yet anyway.
Root by itself doesn't fix anything , just lets you change system files and tinker around, more freedom so to speak.
Personally i am not having those problems, maybe you installed something that is eating up all resources, i have had similar problems on my Nexus one when i was downloading bunch of random programs and experimenting...
Try one of those app killers or restart phone maybe.

I factory reset my phone too , and i still have to install apps after resetting. Will keep you guys updated. BTW i thought rooting was to install froyo on the captivate.
I did not know tht it was just for the workarounds.
Hello guys
Please help me
I still am facing the same problem.
I have installed the AppBrain and fest web browser apps too, but somehow it still takes me a minimum of 10-15 mins before the download begins. And during that time the phone is very slow and unresponsive.
Is anyone else facing the same problem.
Please let me know!

I've noticed something similar to what you are talking about, but defiantly not to such extend. Marketplace seems to be slow on my phone, at least comparing to my brother's Evo. Sometimes just after I start download of a new app, the phone becomes unresponsive for a bit, but it doesn't freeze or anything, just I start noticing some lag, that's all. To your other concerns:
1. Remove Live Wallpaper and as many widgets from your screen as you can. After I did that, I don't have any lag at all. You can also use manual task killer application to shut down all of the AT&T crap that runs on background (and prevent them to start up again).
2. Coming from feature phone, battery live will always look bad on the Smartphone. For me, battery lasts the whole day, from 9AM till 12PM even with a heavy use. For a Smartphone, that's good results.
Only times I have had lag is when something is installing. Also when my network connection is bad and something is trying to pull data.
But then again i just switched from a Kaiser running WinMo to this phone, so I may just be use to lag by now
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
When I wake up in the morning my Infuse is almost always off or frozen (and since I use my cellphone as an alarm this can be very troublesome!).
It doesn't only happen at night however, the phone randomly freezes/shuts off during normal use on occasion as well.
I am rooted, running launcherpro plus. I also have a ton of apps (can't resist free ****ty apps from the Amazon store), so any one of them might be causing the problem.
I am trying to narrow down the problem by turning off certain apps that are running in the background, disabling live wallpaper, anything I can think of - no luck figuring out what the problem is thus far.
Is anyone out there experiencing anything similar? Maybe there is a common denominator I am not considering.
Thanks in advance.
First thing I'd do is wipe my phone fresh and only install the apps that are absolutely necessary then test stability.

LOL Agreed sounds like you have a lot of **** that you don't need.
I've been having a strange problem over the past week where Google Latitude would randomly disable itself for no reason, and cease updating. I only noticed this because my battery has been lasting well over a day.
I'm running CM9.0 RC0 (the 4.0.4 build), but for the first week or so it has been fine, so I don't think it's the ROM at fault specifically. I don't have any task killers installed, and there's always plenty of RAM free (I don't have much installed). I don't have any over/underclock or over/undervolting applied either.
It's almost like something is forcing my device to stay asleep, as other things don't update either whilst it's asleep. Emails still come through, as do calls and IMs, so I don't think this can be the case either.
Does anyone happen to have seen this kind of behavior before and know what may be causing it? I'd rather not just do a wipe/reflash to try and fix it, as I'd like to know what's causing it first so I can potentially avoid it happening again in the future.
Did you ever find a solution to this problem. I am running 4.2.1 on my Nexus 4 and Latitude keeps disabling Location Reporting. I don't notice until a friend tells me. It's very frustrating.
I am completely stock, unrooted, so I doubt it is to do with your ROM.
Me too!

I'm now on 4.2.2 and it's still doing it. I installed Backitude today... let's see if that will function as a workaround.

I'm have a stock 4.2.2 Nexus 4 and see this problem frequently also. My wife complains she can not see where I am and when I check I find location reporting has turned itself off again. Very annoying. Her iPhone seems to be able to keep latitude location reporting on!
Hi everyone, for who is suffering with this problem, here we go, let's FIX IT !
First of all, this is not a 100% sure fixing method, but I want to work with you people of XDA in order to solve this problem.
WHERE IS THE PROBLEM ?
I discovered that the problem is in the manageing of the wifi during the deep sleep.
When the phone is sleeping, if for any reason the signal is lost, and the SII+ trys to reconnect to the access point, here we have the SOD.
This happens only during the deep sleep.
SOLUTION
So I think how to avoid this situations. A solution could be to set the wifi policy, in "Wifi Advance", when the screen is off to NEVER and check the option "Check Internet Connection", reboot and done.
I'm using this simple configuration since 2 days and it seems that the SOD are gone. I'm not sure about it and i'm writing here because I want to share this solution whit everyone.
So please try and let me know here !
THANKS !!!! :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Try app form Google Play, WAKE MY ANDROID PRO, i mean it solve SOD on my SGS2+
Fantastic, thank you! Let know if sod problems happens again. I downgraded my s2+ to 4.1.2 because in this version I never had sod problems but if this works I will upgrade to 4.2.2

Currently 9 seconds, auto startup and low wake
It works but this method drains a lot of battery
It's been a month since I started to talk with samsung of this bug. I took my phone to the rapair center for 3 times and they tried to change the motherboard, the PBA of charging (another logic board), and then at the 3rd time I ask for a substitution with a new one, in particular with another model, as is written in the warranty. But the headquarter of Samsung italy said that my phone is fixable... I know it's incredible, even after changing almost 2/3 of the phone they didn't grant me the substitution. Fortunatly the technical rebuilt a new 9105p for me, because he understands my irritation. Now, as everything i tried didn't solve the SOD, i'm trying the last possible solution, going without the SD card. Probably the phone during his common life cicle, fail to read or write something on the sd and then it stucks in our SOD.
Just trying this thing, then if it will freeze again, i'll go to them and I'll pretend the sustitution
PS the sd card is a kingston class 4, 8GB, used of 2 years in a smartphone (hungry of space on it), I also discovered an hidden partition of 512mb formatted in ext3/ext4 !
keep you update on the situation
Hi: got news? I'm already going without SD, but SoDs keep appearing

Its not happening anymore since friday ... Dont know what to think... I have all brand new hw...
I just got the phone about two weeks ago. The handsfree Alexa option will work for about five minutes before never responding again, what do I do? Do I need to keep the app running in the background maybe?
Sorry to resurrect an old thread if this is already resolved, but since there are no comments I thought I'd add one. I just got this phone, and one thing I noticed was enabled by default was some sort of battery optimization that seems to prevent things from running in the background. If you're still dealing with this, you might look at that.
