Any 10.1" PX5 without Google Maps sound problems? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Does anybody know of a 10.1" PX5 HU and/or system software, in which the spoken output from Google Maps is ok? By this I mean, the sound doesn't stutter and it isn't delayed. I have a couple of 7" units, the original software stuttered badly, and the newer software delays the Maps spoken output so it gives directions after the turn has already passed. Currently I'm using a Joying 10.1" and Maps occasionally creates incorrect colored striped regions plus today it rebooted. Since Malaysk removed Google Maps I assume he wouldn't be interested in fixing this issue. To be fair I should state I'm still experimenting to find a way around this, but I've had the same problem with 4 units, since before the Android 6 updates. I've attached a picture of the bug, the white and smaller pink areas are incorrect. The wavy lines are a figment of the camera, what I'm referring to is the right and top mostly solid white areas. I've been in touch with Joying but no progress.

The latest MCU and updates have addressed the stuttering audio for me. I'm still getting random freezes and crashes though.

Yea I have a witson head unit and maps is horrid now, when I first got it 6 mo ago it was ok only did it occasionally, but now its terrible and unusable 99% of the time, forget about trying to listen to music or anything when running very disappointed. I am running the latest sw and fw as of today 7/27/2017

google fixed the maps this mornin. update the app. much better

TomTom Navigator 7 Freezing...

Hello there, Quick question.
I recently upgraded TomTom Navigator 7 on my SE XPERIA X1 from version 7.450.9028 to version 7.910.9185 mainly for the fixes for a WVGA screen e.g. larger buttons and text.
However, I have found that the phone always seems to freeze when using TTN7. I never found this with the previous version however, the improvements are too improved to revert back to the old version.
Is this problem caused by the application or the phone as the screen becomes unresponsive when freezing (e.g. it doesn't vibrate on tap) giving the idea that the phone's memory is full when running the application and causing the phone to slow down.
Cheers,
Hyped
I have been experiencing the same issue on my Xperia X1 that you've had Hyped. I am actually running version 7.915.9196. Basically, TomTom will be fine UNTIL it gets a GPS fix. Once that has happened, it is only a matter of 1-2 mins before the whole phone locks up, requiring a battery cover removal + reset button fix.
I also don't want to revert to the previous version, but I'm thinking it may have to come to this I have the ATI D3D driver installed from the Diamond, and I'm planning on removing it to test, but I don't think TomTom calls D3D at all (in fact, im 99% sure), so I doubt this will fix the issue.
Looking for more insight from anyone else, or if there's a newer version of TT7 that we're missing out on.
Mine is touch and go, When it hasn't got a GPS fix, it'll freeze at random moments e.g. when the keyboard is up.
I tried it yesterday in the car and experienced the same problem as you, as soon as it got a GPS fix it froze up and required a soft reset.

[Q] Issues and questions

I just received my TF about 5 days ago and I'm a little disappointed with some things. Maybe it's my fault for not doing enough research, but I thought I had. I spent about a month reading and watching reviews. Anyway, I read that honeycomb was so great at multitasking. Yet, I feel like I have a first generation IPhone when it comes to multitasking. I was using Skifta and Moboplayer to watch television from my windows media center. I thought maybe I could fire off some emails and just listen to the show in the background. As soon as I choose gmail my video stopped. I noticed that with a lot of programs. I choose one and the other stops. Is there a settings that I'm missing? Also, after play my video files using skifta and moboplayer I lose the sound after about 10 seconds. I thought it was completely gone, but when I had the bluetooth headset on last night I could hear the sound really breaking up, like the TF didn't have enough processing. Well, I really doubt that because I would suspect the video would go before the sound.
The google voice recognition on my HTC hero with Cyanogenmod nightly build 6/27/2011 (112) is just superb. On my TF I have to talk really slow and it is rare if it gets it right. I don't know if it has to relearn my voice or if the microphone isn't as good?
I purchased the keyboard for the TF. It is very slow with delays. Sometime it just flakes out. It causes my cursor to jump to different spots quite often. I thought maybe I was bumping the touch pad, so I started to peck type and it was still happening. It gets better if I shutdown the TF and restart it with the keyboard attached. Is this normal or do I have a defective keyboard? Also, It seems like I have to hit the keys extra hard to make sure it registers.
Video chat?? Where is it? I thought this was Google proud OS. I can't get Google voice, Google talk video to work? Why do we have two cameras on it?
Granted I'm new and many of these things I'll probably discover along the way or there will be fixes. I only mentioned a few, but there are other issues with this device.
Is there a better rom than the default one that someone would recommend that might resolve some of these issues?

Google Maps recent problem?

Greetings,
Recently, I'd say about a week or so now, I've noticed an odd glitch in Google Maps that was never present before. It is not consolidated to any phone/rom/kernel/setting as I have tested it on 3 totally different phones now all running variant roms and setups, one not even rooted. So I can easily cross that out as a possibility.
The problem here is that when I used to zoom in close enough that you could see the borders for land plots, there would be a dark black line for the borders. Now it's an extremely faint white thats near impossible to see over the pinkish-white background.
Anyone else have this problem besides me and my family?
Bumping. I'd appreciate ANYONE on Android opening up Maps and zooming in to test this for me please. It takes <60 seconds and will be great to know if others are experiencing this.
I just updated to the recent version of Maps and now this seems to be happening to me, if I understand your description correctly. There are thousands of white boxes superimposed over everything, and they don't correctly line up with property borders if that's what they are supposed to be doing. It ruins the view.
I uninstalled the update and things went back to normal. This happened on my phone and my Galaxy tablet. Not sure what's going on. Never happened before.

Lenovo A7010 (Vibe, X3 Lite) Gyroscope / Accelerometer Issues

Hey guys, I recently bought this Lenovo Vibe A7010 phone. I'm really liking it, but noticed that the Gyroscope and Accelerometer are not working properly.
I'm not sure if it's a software/rom issue, since I updated the phone immediately after getting it, or hardware. If it's hardware I'll take it to tech support to repairs.
Thing is, I've seem some people around complaining about the issue and talking that it might be a bug from the newest updates...
What happens is that gyroscope/accelerometer are always tilting towards one direction (to the right and randomly down and left in my case): 360ยบ Youtube videos are unwatchable. Google maps accuses me of spinning around in my position.
I was eager to test the Google Cardboard with this, but it seems like it will be impossible.
I entered Engineer menu through a code and there is a calibration option, but it doesn't work properly. It makes some adjustments but nothing changes.
There's another menu that is accessible through a reboot with power+volUp, but it all in chinese.
Here are some pics and videos of the bugged sensors:

Do you guys think it's software, or should I just take it to the store and ask for another?

HU strange behavior

Hello XDA
After changing my HU to another XTRONS (PX5, 4GB, Octacore, Android 8, MCU GS 3.00) and installing it in my car i thought that everything was perfect.
I tested before installing it in place, just in case, for more than 1 hour and it was perfect. After that put it in place and well... 2 minutes later it rebooted by itself (ok, that can happen). After it rebooted i proceded to install my GPS app and the maps and testing it. The moment i entered the app (Sygic) the screen went black but sound was still playing normal (radio/music). Took the radio out again and looked to see if the conectors were ok and they were. After rebooting again i installed more apps/games/heavy benchmarks to see if it was a GPU or CPU problem and i couldn't make it happen again for the next hour. So i thought of updating my apps through Play Store since it was everything ok. Started updating google maps, youtube, etc. and in the middle of one of the updates the screen became a flicker fest with white lines horizontaly and a few seconds later black again. This time no radio, no touch, no screen., nothing.
My question is, before sending it back, if that's a problem with temps or maybe another problem? I opened the HU (seller gave me permission because he thought it was the "core board" loose as he stated per email), took the board out and checked again and pressed it pretty good. I also checked the display cables and took them out and in again. Today i drove the entire day without problems but i only used the radio and music app and the i-bus app as i have an E46. Having regrets already because my old Allwinner unit was slow but perfect.
Happened to anyone or does anyone has anything to add? Heres a video of what happened the day i installed the Head unit.

Thank you in advance
