Can't remove adware on freemeosp - General Questions and Answers

Phone leagoo m5, fw latest official based on freemeos. Reflashed latest rom, installed only apps which i used long time without any ads and still grtting annoying full screen ad which can't be closed 10seconds. Phone rooted, but none app aaked/granted root permissions. My only though that it's caused by os itself. There are 2 weird apps: "settings"(can be deleted, but restores after some time. Not weird settinga app(definetely part of os}) shows translated name "nustatymai") other is "app store" can't even delete. Eg. In screenshot imgur dot com/a/btCfz ad appears from time to time even if none apps is opened

You probably used Kingroot or Kingoroot to root your device and it installed malware/adware apps your system partition. Flashing stock firmware probably doesn't wipe system during flashing instead of removing those apps and factory resetting won't work because the apps are in system and factory reset doesn't touch system, it only wipes the user partition.
If none of your apps are requesting root permission then I'd say you lost root and need to root the device again.
Try MalwareBytes app to remove those apps. If that doesn't work you need to get the device properly rooted and then look in your system/app or system/priv-app folder and delete those apps.

That can work...........
But.......
Assuming there are ROMs available and assuming they want to use a ROM. But what if they don't want TWRP or a custom ROM? What if they want to stay with what they have?

Looks like adware installed by root app. "Supersu" caused problems. Kaspersky/malwarebytes and few other random AV didn't found any issues, then i searched with "dr. Web" it found 4 threats i deleted them(with twrp, dr web not offered option to delete) and no more issues. Thanks for pointing to right direction.

Just remember, this is typical behaviour when using Chinese rooting apps and other Chinese softwares, pretty much all of them come with unwanted extras that hide themselves in your system. China is the hacker think tank of the world, they design software to invade devices and steal personal information.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

wiped everything with all possible tools which twrp offers(even sdcard), then installed rom and twrp with sp flash tool(all tools took from xda or xda forum links) and adware still exist. searched google and it's not only mine problem a lot of people complains about same "triada" from stock firmware. found workaround and it fixed problem, but still need normal fix.
only few people complains about it... noone from xda don't use last firmware on leagoo m5?
i still not rooted phone, but adware already recreates it after each reboot antimalware apps only detects created bad app and deletes it, but none app can remove virus itself only it's consequences
workaround: create file /storage/emulated/0/.SDAndroid and chmod to 0600; and file /storage/emulated/0/.jm with same permssions. virus won't create folder with that name so he stops recreating it's files

[Q] App Not Installed

Hello,
First off, I would like to apologize if I am posting this in the wrong thread as I am new to this site. I have always searched this site for answers to questions I have had in the past, but have never had the need to ask for help. However, today is an exception. Every time I try to install this app, I get the error "App not installed". I have read up on this issue and it is caused by a previous installation of the application leaving leftovers behind (the weird thing is that sometimes I get this error for apps that I have never installed before). For the majority of the apps I have had this problem with, I was able to simply navigate to /data/data on my rooted HTC One M8 and delete the folder associated with the app. However, this didn't work with a few apps I have tried recently. I then installed "ZipSigner" and signed the application and tried installing it that way, this way only worked for one of my apps. I'm stuck with this one app though that I can't seem to install. I have already tried making it a system app; however when I reboot and try to load the app, it gives me the application crashed error every time. I have luckypatcher installed also and I tried to install the app from luckypatcher but it also hints that there are leftovers (but I have never installed this app before lol). So idk what to do. I will not do a factory reset because this app isn't worth the time, but I really would like to find out how to solve this error. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thank you!
EDIT: I have also tried adb installing it but that failed also. Another thing I tried was modifying the AndroidManifest.xml to change the name of the App when it installs, but I couldn't find the right code to modify.

Unknown virus made itself a system app and downloading other apps

I have oplus Xonphone 5 (Android 4.4.2). My phone is having virus/malware which have accessed root permission and made itself a system apps and now they are automatically turning wifi on/off and downloading tons of other apps (e.g. Hot cam, UC news, Ram booster etc.). Whenever i open running apps there are System.bin and systemMultimedi are running and consuming battery. sometimes they close all other apps and download malware. I have tries following thing which didn't solve my problem:
1. Soft and Hard resetting of phone.
2. Rooted my phone and using root browser tried to delete/Uninstall these files(viruses).
3. Tried uninstall all newly installed system apps by using Kingroot but they again showed up.
3. Cleared the cache partition and then hard reseted phone.
4. tried to flash the ROM but failed.
Please help me recover my phone . Thank you in advance.

This is really a big problem and if not solved soon you will be in great trouble
I suggest you to first uninstall root and then flash the stock rom again
This is the last option I have
I dont think you can do anything beyond that

---------- Post added at 07:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 AM ----------
I will also suggest few senior members whom I know to solve your problem as soon as possible
This could even be a police case if the malware tries to do something beyond this
If you think something more suspicious than just downloading appps and toggling settings
Then I would highly recommend you to switch off your device and keep it aside until you find a solution at xda

Pservices Possible Malware

I found out this little fella under system apps first, I deleted, then somehow it installed it self back to user apps, and giving plenty of permissions to it self, like make calls, read send sms, mms, internet. Dr. Web or Malwarebytes didn't notice this fella but it is pretty suspicious. I freeze it. Because uninstalling doesn't work, it installed it self back after few hours. It disguise it self as an google service also.

Root your phone, you will be able to uninstall it then. Otherwise, factory reset your phone, however, I doubt whether factory reset would work on this chap.
Mate, it is already rooted. And I can Uninstall it, but it comes back after few hours later. It came with factory state rom, so factory reset is not an solution.
I wanted to warn community about this malware also
Thanks for the info
Damn thing is on my ZOJI Z7 too.
Didn't rooted the phone, but tried everything else.
Keeps coming back whatever I do.

I wish there was a custom rom for my device. Indeed it is an exotic device, couldn't find any custom rom.
This is really fishy, check out the attachment, now some how an app trying to install it self but android permissions prevent it. It pops up randomly during daily use, couldn't find the root of it.
If you know how to post a log file, please do
Or see google .It will be much easier for everyone to see exactly what is happening
Else you can try to root, and in superSU select the option "trust system app"
So you have to select each system app for it to get root permission
Select which one is doing this and bam! Uninstall.
But I recommend you make a backup

I have this one to, and have the same problem. I have located the issue to the launcher. It seems that that's the one downloading the malware and installs it. I installed a firewall to block Internet access to it, and got rid of the problem. Unfortunately there's no way to freeze the launcher. I use another one anyway though.

Don't delete it, disable it (if you can) then it won't be active & it shouldn't come back.
It may be a false positive or a new variant or even that some AV companies may not flag it if it's official app from manufacturer, despite it's behaviour. Check or submit it to virustotal & see who & how many AV companies flag it, make a decision, if you haven't already.
I have rooted my Z6, and removed almost every system app that is not crucial to the system. The malware still appears. It seems that it's embedded deep inside the system and the only option is to flash the entire firmware with someting else to get rid of it. What I know of, there is no AOSP for this device.
My conclusion? Never ever by a China developed mobile. This was my first one, and definitely my last.
More news
Hello. Before I talked about the same virus, but today I saw that the virus (before disable) has uninstall it self and it install 2 programs more called: com.apply.googlea.cation2 and com.apps.systom.sulots
I know that this is very rare.
I disable the 2 apps.
Any suggestion?
I can say, Chinese mtk devices are ground zero for this pservices malware. And yet it is very strange for me to first to mention this malware at xda quite possibly on the internet.
It is been a month almost but no real solution from known security companies. Only malwarebytes suggest to uninstall, and only malwarebytes catches it. And it is not a false positive believe me! This is new and real.
Best I can suggest is to disable pservices and install malwarebytes with real-time scan on also Netguard by M.Bokhorst to control what is communicating with internet.
Regards.
Edit : also forgot to mention all adups.fota update etc. any app with adups and fota name in it should be uninstalled, disabling doesn't work. That helps a little bit, but still keeps background com.
This is worst than we thougth.
Today i scan my mobile with malwarebytes an it found 2 versions of Guerrilla malware and 1 of Riskware.
I think PServices is evolving into many other virus.
I have a theory, I dont know if this is posible but here is. There are some filles that controls the status of PServices, If it is disable it ejecutates a backup from the cloud or something like this.
I dont know what this virus can do, but anything good.
In this moment Guerrilla is inside the microSD and I coud disable the riskware (Inside the sistem is colled FotaProvider)
This could be something big and dangerous.

HELP After updating Android System Webview My Phone is Unresponsive

Hello Guys,
I come in need of a help,
I'm writing from my computer now,
Yesterday my phone was working fine,
Today morning, I updated the apps on my phone; amongst the updates was android system webview.
After a reboot, my phone is unresponsive, it won't open any of the apps from that point.
I reboot again, since keyboard doesn't work, I used the OTG cable to use the physical keyboard to enter the password and get in. Tried entering setting to uninstall that crap app, settings is unresponsive.
No SIM services, no keyboard, no fingerprint, no settings etc.. basically nothing works and everything says "unresponsive and asks to either wait or close".
The only thing I have now is TWRP Recovery, and I'm inside it now.
I've wiped Cache + Dalvik / ART Cache : Result still same, nothing works.
I mailed [email protected] (which is provided in the app's "Developer" section) about this and got a reply that the mail is no longer being monitored.
Can someone please let me know how I can remove android system webview by using TWRP ? So that I can enter the phone back again as normal..
Device Details:
Lenovo K8 Note
Android 7.1.1 Nougat, (Never updated the OS)
Device has been rooted and has recovery options.
I think you can find WebView module in Magisk respiratory so I suggest you give that a try. Flash it and I think it will be fine as long as you have Magisk installed, of course.

Thanks, I couldn't quite understand that..
I've never read/seen a need for Magisk so far.. so may I know what is the procedure to be done here...?
I do read Magisk is a systemless Root, (I already have SuperSu, is that the same functionality? (though I can't open anything that is))
Find the Magisk zip on Google and flash it over TWRP.
Head over to the Magisk module site and you will be able to find an alternate WebView module you can flash. It will be in zip format so I guess you will need USB to transfer those files to your phone since you cannot use it to download modules.

Give it a try and come to tell if you have sorted it out.
If not, you will probably need to flash your ROM again hoping the application won't stay updated but to back to stock version.

Oh, one more thing,
Does this procedure mean, I'll lose TWRP and SuperSu?
Can I not just downgrade the android system webview manually itself?

You won't lose TWRP but I am not sure about SuperSu since it's very old and people don't use it from the time Magisk appeared. I don't think you will be able to have both TWRP and SuperSu.
It would be good for you to just uninstall the updates of WebView if you can use your phone at all. That would solve the problem.
TWRP basically is a menu what allows you to select and apply ADB and/or Fastboot commands.
SuperSU is a Superuser access management tool: it requires SU binary got installed on Android.
Both mentioned sofwares are completely different things, don't depend on each other.
BTW:
I always root Android without the need to make use of Magisk or SuperSU.
So, I went through these

Just because of one application?
I just want that android webview gone/replaced with a stable one, is that not possible without destroying everything?
Thanks everyone.
we have a solution,
In my case, uninstalling the Xposed framework fixed it for me..
So, while working on this issue I had made a flow map and a log of what is done and its results, may be someone else can benefit from it in the future..
Spoiler: Tries and results
Even starting the entering phone itself is a big issue, because the keyboard applications don't come up; fingerprint doesn't work on first boot as a security measure as well; connected physical keyboard to OTG to phone to enter password... then greeted with lots of errors of all the applications.

Unpacking the system web view.apk on computer gives crap details as it is almost completely encrypted.
Going rabbit hunting through the rabbit hole, checking each folders on "/"
found something similar /system/app/WebViewGoogle/WebViewGoogle.apk
Quick google search confirms that I’m on the right path to finding it...
May be data or XML is somewhere too?
Deleted(copied and deleted) /system/app/WebViewGoogle/WebViewGoogle.apk
Result, Same
Then Reverted
PS: Original Copy at ext_sdcard
Replaced the existing one (92.0.4515.115 with 90.0.4430.210)
Result, no changes.
Then reverted with the crappy original
May be adb will install properly?
Tried adb commands on phone on TWRP, doesn't work
Tried adb from computer to phone, unable to connect to phone.
Was doing it wrong, while in TWRP, I need to initiate "ADB Sideload" and then connect from PC (with Firewall allowed)
then "adb devices", shows connected device with serial number
after the above, the adb push keeps saying "error: connect failed: closed"
turning phone ON and connecting for additional settings (USB debugging) pops "mtp host failed" as soon as I wire..
Started the phone, switched over to Guest account, (oddly seems stuff there are kind of better with lesser error messages), tried launching playstore and wifi, both need password which I don't have, entering settings, hangs for a while, quickly go to apps and uninstall updates for android system web view.. web view becomes 0.0.1
results, fail
Created a temporary user account on phone whilst booting, (because of the observable lesser apps running if I switch over from main..)
added my gaccount on it,
launched playstore to update the android system web view..
the update is stuck at 60%~70 %each time and is unable to complete..
took the v90 application that is on pendrive, connected otg.. and started to install application manually from there..
it said, no space.. even though there is around 4 GB free... continued to disable other applications, such as chrome, youtube, drive etc..
still unable to install the v90 application
even installing other apps (sudoku example) have the same issue,
and then I see a popup that package manager has stopped working (aha! so that itself doesn't work, then can't install),
Went to see if I can change something on developer options, developer option wont come up even after 7+ taps.. hmm strange, may be only main account can have dev options.
While at it, swapped out the Gboard with older AOSP keyboard (retaining Fleksy though).
Rebooted and tried again.. no fix yet..
Atleast I don't have to switch to physical keyboard now for every reboot, since the inner older keyboard comes for first boot.
By TWRP, removed existing app and replaced with v87; doesn't seem to be any different, same errors...
Was about to install the Magisk but it seems to have lots and lots of catches to it, and things to-do before I can go to that...
Continuing investigation on how to downgrade and get back to older state
Through TWRP, deleted the app folder from /system/app/WebViewGoogle/WebViewGoogle.apk
researched to see if there is something else to delete, couldn't find much... proceeding from what we know...
Removed ATSystem.apk (3C's helper) from /system/priv-app just in cast (copy placed at ext_sdcard)
result no change..
Started at around 31-Jul-21 13:00 and went on till 01-Aug-21 01-26 pausing to for the day to rest...
Restored App Folder back to /system/app/WebViewGoogle/WebViewGoogle.apk
WebViewGoogle.apk is v90 again.. (the original seems to be missing, meh, not like it's going to fix)
reboot, result, no changes.
Starting step to install magisk
Removing xposed now..
wiped dalvik cache
rebooting
Kind of stable!!!
Everything seems to work?!?!
Firewalled all app except playstore and mail,
mail seems to work, but can't open the mails (just the headers are received), clicking on the mail says "unable to inflate webview"
aha, I forgot that I have v87 still, if I update that again, will it work (if it doesn't we know how to revert now)
proceeds to update v87 to latest
reboots,
I guess issue resolved by uninstalling xposed, next step to enter phone and move data to safe zone and think about next step.

I don't know the solution to that, because mine is rooted I was able to get into the custom recovery and fix things.. not sure what can be done here for your case, (I do know that the old samsung's default recovery is kinda unreadable for English speakers)

Rooting Samsung Galaxy Express GT18730T - Android is v4.1.2

I have followed many suggestions, but have failed so far. ONE of many difficulties is that I can not get the phone to download iRoot APKs, so did it on my PC instead, and succeeded in copying them into the Phone's DOWNLOADS (quite visible on my PC) but the phone does NOT show them when I open Downloads - so I can not try to install them to see if they will root the phone. A solution to rooting would be welcome; as also how to make those APKs visible in the phone.
I downloaded and installed File Manager App and that revealed the files copied in. One problem solved. They would not install until I had changed Settings to allow APK's from unknown sources to be installed. Second problem solved. Rooting was solved by installing iRoot. Third problem solved. But even then I could not dispose of unwanted system Apps, till I downloaded and installed NoBloat Free; Fourth problem solved. Then Application Manager offered to uninstall updates, with the warning that the app would be replaced by the factory version, but went ahead and uninstalled the app anyway. Fifth Problem solved. HOWEVER, even though Application Manager now only shows a handful of apps, the screens are still cluttered with many icons I was hoping to be rid off. Can someone tell me how to remove the already uninstalled apps from the screens ?
