After upgrading to Nougat, the boot animation decided to "lag" - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

After I upgraded to Nougat, the boot animation lags, even of it's just some frames, its weird because on Marshmallow this did not happen.
(Swiftkey and some other apps, but not games, also kinda lag a bit)
Any solution other than downgrading?
NOTE: I restored factory settings some times just to see.what happened, and it got better a little bit each time... lol but im not going to wipe this again

This is a bug that plagued Android since Gingerbread. And I experience this too sometimes in Nougat when I mess up with the system. Have you rooted your phone? If yes, did you do some system modifications?

I don't have any lag at all. Maybe it's a third party app that's hogging your memory and slowing the phone down

Not possible. Did you read OP? He has lags in the boot animation. Only core Android processes run at that time.

It'll be fixed with time I guess

I did not do any modification. The phone is brand new, stock.

You can upload it in Youtube and post the link here. But it is not necessary because I understood the problem. I haven't seen the stock recovery of Huawei. But you can boot to recovery, and wipe dalvik cache if the choice is present. If not, I'm afraid you have to do a factory reset if you really want to fix the problem.

Wiping cache did not really solve the problem. But eh, I think I can survive with this... its not that kind of problem.
There you have the EMUI stock recovery. (In my opinion, its the coolest I have seen)
Do you know if EMUI 5.1 is coming to the Honor 6X? Maybe this gets fixed in that version...

Cache is a little different than dalvik cache. Wiping dalvik is present in TWRP. I'm not sure about the 5.1 update for 6X, I am yet to see news about it, but you should receive some security and system updates which, hopefully, should solve the boot animation issue.

I know that, but they could have included dalvik in that option. Also, let's hope for a lot of security updates

In my opinion it is, because I remember that it was smoother before marshmallow... but if you say everyone has it a little laggy, I think I feel better now xD

It'll get smoother with future updates, the 6x is a capable device

Is your boot animation different than mine? on the Nougat B360 firmware I had a huawei boot animation (the one with the ripples with the huawei logo showing) and on the B367 firmware its now a honor logo that flows to the right.

Yeah... My boot animation is unusually laggy/choppy after I updated to Nougat, quite unfortunate..

Even though this answer is "quite" late, I'm actually glad to hear I'm bit the only one...
I hope they do what they promised, arrive Oreo to this device before the end of January and possibly fix this.

But I have installed those 20-25 days ago. I got no problem then.
As I said that my bro also faced it even if he wasn't rooted.
Then he would not have messed it.

It's a phone from India which means its some cheap piece of poop that's gonna have a lot of issues. Rooting the phone probably didn't help you with that. My best advice?
Un-Root.
Factory Reset.
Just incase though, what version of Android are you running?

Go back to MM, good idea?

Hi,
I'm using android 7.0 with emui 5 but I would downgrade to MM.
Will I have some security problems if I refuse updates and stay with MM?

Hi,
I start using H8 wiht Android 6 and EMUI 4. Every things works fine. Finaly I decided to update to Android 7 and EMUI 5. I read that some people have problem with battery. In my case every thing works fine. Overall if You dont have any problems especially with battery I recommend stay in Androis 7 and EMUI 5.
My advice whachout for upgrade software to B381. I instaled it yesterday and i see some standbay drain battery. I dont started panic but I will wait couple days and see what is changed.

Problem with FRD-L14! *App not responding*

I'm having an issue with my FRD-L14!
I encountered a problem a couple weeks ago when my phone died of low battery. Once I charged it and turned it back on, all of a suddenly all of my apps were unresponsive. And when I say all of the apps, I mean ALL of the apps. I began receiving notifications of the apps that weren't responding and it was asking me to wait or close app. I tried both and had no outcome. I restarted the phone a few times thinking maybe it was a bad boot.. Nothing. Finally, I did a factory reset and everything began working fine.. Until I decided to turn my phone off again (This was the last time my phone had been turned completely off since the factory reset) and the issue arose again. All of my apps are not responsive. Sometimes I cannot even get into settings. I also do not receive any calls/texts during this time either.
I am NOT rooted and I do not have an unlocked bootloader. Completely stock.
Please Help!
Sounds weird...maybe you can try reflashing the firmware? What version are you using? Nougat or Marahmallow?

Nougat.. Everything I have is stock and updated to the latest firmware.
Okay, in that case i would have made a rollback to marshmallow first, then flashing the full marshmallow firmware (latest avaible on honor site) and finally update again to nougat with OTA.
I think it's the best thing you can do

UPDATE!
After a rollback and OTA update back to Nougat using Proxy Firmware Finder, everything is working fine.
The only thing I've noticed is that my build number is "NRD90M test-keys". I'm not sure if this will affect any future OTA updates or not. It was very difficult to find a full update package for the FRD-L14 version. The model number still reflects FRD-L14 though.
Side note: I think the entire cause of the problem was I did the trick from the link below. It worked and I had been using it for a long time. In the comments of that thread, I've noticed others having the issue after reboot as well... Must be a Huawei thing.

EMUI 5 Nougat Random Reboots

I've been on EMUI 5 for months now and I did a factory reset after upgrading from marshmallow. I face random reboots after every 10 days or so if the device hasn't been restart or turned off in between. I'm running B361, anyone else facing this?

Bump. No one?
Never seen something similar even because i reboot every evening my phone to avoiding the accumulation of many hours on activity (maybe nothing to worry about, but it's an habit of mine that i take with me from years). Why don't you try to reboot it every 5 days if the reboot incomes after the 10th, just to eliminate this case?
Guys please mention your firmware version as well. This might be an issue on just the firmware I'm on.

Downgrading a Verizon Pixel from P to Oreo

I was trying to downgrade my Pixel back to Oreo because of mostly app incompatibility (I should've taken that into account before I upgraded it, my bad) but everytime I tried to flash back to Oreo, I'm unable to do it because of the locked bootloader, I've been using recovery mode and adb sideload to try it, but I had a feeling it wouldn't work, can anyone recommend me any solutions to downgrade?
Edit: Well, I realized after looking for some answers on reddit, that I'm basically screwed for a while until DP2 comes out, so I'm still just hoping I can downgrade it but I might as well start accepting my fate.
+1. App compatibility in P makes my phone almost unusable, which is 100% my fault. Take note Verizon users. The changes in P aren't worth half your apps, including Google apps, not working.

It did take me a factory reset to fix my problems, but data for games and such are gone as a result. The apps that wouldn't work for me are apps like Amazon Prime Video, Youtube, and xda feeds.
So is it worth upgrading my Verizon XL to P or should I stay on Oreo? If so, is there a thread describing how to do this?

If your bootloader isn't unlocked stay on oreo. Android P is still in beta and there are potential problems to occur and if your bootloader isn't unlocked you will be stuck in the beta from what I've heard
