Note 4 batteries from Amazon? How Do I pick a good one - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Hi,
We all know the BS that goes on - on Amazon. I just picked up a Note 4 and it seems like the battery is pretty weak.
I need to be sure I am asking the right questions. (There is another battery thread here, but it is 2 years old)
There is so much I need to learn about this android after moving from Msft, (which did EVERYTHING I needed except offer certain apps I need for work) I am pretty hard up for cash, and need to pick a battery from Amazon. Noticed there are many brands and some have some serious shortcomings.
Polar Bear
Ohmnimax
Anker
EnergyPal
Zerolemon
TechOrbits
Yishida
Juboty
Aexpower
and more
Some also ask about NFC... (I know my Lumia had an NFC reader) but what is that about?
What else do I need to know about choosing a good replacement? I do have a wireless charger available and 2A plus chargers...
Guess I am asking, what are the correct questions to ask?
What about extended battery packs? are they worth it? There is one:
iPosible Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Extended Battery [7200mAh] on Amazon... and more
also seen Polarbear and Juboty
Oh, and can those magnetic mounts screw up a battery?
Sorry for the length of the post
Kevin
AT&T Note 4

anker one is very good.

Go for Anker

I'm going to join the chorus and recommend Anker. They sell excellent batteries and the NFC works great.

+1 for anker battery works great for me.

make sure it has NFC, chance of getting a fake battery with NFC is low

NFC (near field comm.) the board which allows you to touch phones backs to send files, it can be seen on battery, its protruding a little from battery its not completely flat

I'm using Yishida...got the 2 pack with charger from Amazon. It doesn't have NFC...I also use a magnetic Phone Holder. No problems.

Go for Anker. I've used their batteries since my Note2 days and never had a problem with them.

Personally, I would rather get the original Samsung battery for the Note 4. That way you would avoid any serious issues with your device.

The problem is that there are so many fake 'original samsung'around! Go for Anker, it's not fake

I bought this Frontech battery from amazon last november and is working great and is cheap. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017Y12D48/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm on my second ZeroLemon battery, well technically 3rd because my first one, I sent back and got a replacement. I feel my replacement wasn't holding a charge. My Second (or Third) Zerolemon battery has a different casing and is more slim than the original brick. Additionally, my note 4 is Unlocked and Rooted. I'm using MoDestRom v9. The author does not have a ZeroLemon battery, but he has managed to make a second kernel for the ZeroLemon battery. Don't ask me how he was able to get it right, but he did. My battery does seem to discharge and charge correctly, now, and I don't even have that dreaded 1% issue where normally the phone stays charged for 10-14 hours at 1% (in otherwords, the phone doesn't actually recognize what percentage of the battery is actually left). If you don't mind extra bulkiness, I'd give it a shot. I bought my first Zerolemon Feb 8, 2015, they give you 6 months warranty, so sometime in that time frame is when I got the replacement, and I got my second Zerolemon battery from Amazon on May 17, 2017.
Here's the first one I got (llooks ike a brick) - https://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-10000mah-Extended-ZeroShock-Versions/dp/B00Q7C6FTA
Here's the second one I got (less bulky) - https://www.amazon.com/Extended-Zerolemon-10000mAh-Protection-Versions/dp/B014F5Z6LS
I recommend the second one. In terms of quality, I don't know if there's a difference, but the second one is easier to hold onto. I probably could use the old case with the new battery, as well...I'm not sure. I should note that when I initially got the battery, the buttons on the case were too sensitive, and when they sent a replacement, it was much less responsive, but perfect. Before, I would inadvertently hang up on people because the buttons were so sensitive and the weight of the phone was so great. With the second battery purchased, I don't have that issue.

All of the Samsung batteries I have seen for the Note 4 (mine for two Note 4's, my mom and sister) will get to 15%, then immediately go to like 3% then cut off. I switched to Anker and it works perfect.

That is strange. If you have updated the OS on both Note 4s to Marshmallow. There is a known issue that they won't charge properly in the device due to the Marshmallow update. However if you use the official external battery charger for Note 4 batteries they will charge correctly. As I have recently discovered.

My mom and sister were on marshmallow. I was on marshmallow with my old note 4. This note 4 did it on kit kat and lollipop. I downgraded it from marshamllow to kit kat, then updated to lollipop.

If you were running on either Lolipop or KitKat then you shouldn't experience any battery issues with the Note 4. Unless you were sold faulty batteries, which does happen from time to time.

Battery + external charger from ebay

I just ordered the battery + external charger from ebay. They are originally for nexus one, but I think the battery is the same, isn’t it? It might take a while before I receive it, especially with the eruption.
I’ll post some picture after I received it.

keep us posted, it'll be awesome if the desire and nexus use the same battery.
might be worth somoen investigating if its a common battery with any other htc phones
It's pretty clear the Nexus One and the Desire use the same standard battery - both have the same part number BA-S410.
I received my battery today the from same seller, i don't know if its defective, but i have charced it fully and it works ok, but when i try to take a pic with flash or use flash app it will shut the phone off.. tho i ordered another one a week ago as i thought maybe ill need few extra if im gonna heavy use my phone somewhere.. So i'll see in few weeks will that another one work or not..
Have you received yours yet? Does it work correctly?
@references
As I recall correctly, I ordered an aftermarket battery for my xperia x1 on eBay, I had the same thing happen, the phone shut down on itself when I received a call, even though the battery took a full charge. So I believe you got a real bad battery.
I wouldn't skimp when it comes to buying a battery or for that matter a charger. That charger OP reminds me so much of the cheap charger and battery I bought for my psp a few years back, the battery only lasted for 5 mins and the charger caught fire.
AAAk
I've been looking at this:

@sactoguy
Got a message from seller that it is a faulty one and he will send me another, hope new one works.. history show's that 40 of those batteries have been allready sold, so i guess they work fine as no-one else has complained about them!
awaiting for an extended one...

Any update about your Order?
Quick update from me:
Received a new battery last week and its working, last one was really defective.. I havn't measured with any machine is it really 1400mah, but i dont notice it to be any weaker than the original battery!
Nexus battery its a little thinner from the edges and it can drop off if you don't have your back cover on.
I already used that battery, and it works well..
It definitely has a lower capacity compare with the original one, but can still give one full day of normal usage.
Also, it is not too small, it is a little bit bigger than the original, so it a little bit too tight, but it fits well though...
The charger also works fine, but takes like 4 hours for full charge.

Kompson vs Stock Battery

So guys, celebrating or Forum acquisition.
Let's talk about one of the biggest issues that a huge part of S3 users, that acquired their phones last year had. The battery drop.
It weirdly started for some after the Lollipop upgrade, with a 15 or 20 sudden drop, 1, 2, 3 seconds and you phone turns off!
Firstly we all thought this was a software issue, but after countless work and updates on this part and no fix for it, we started to think that problem was not a software one but with batteries itself.
The cause will remain a mystery. A defective lot? A issue that was ignited by LP? And proof of batteries defect, the drops gets worse with time. 20, 30, 40% drop to zero, batteries getting inflacted watch out if you have this issue!
Fortunately this seems to be fixed in newest batteries, that are sold on main stores, if you're ordering a original one get from main stores, Aliexpress stores are just selling fake ones by my investigations.
Luckily we found at Aliexpress this Kompson battery. At first sight it looked like a big scam, promising capacity for a not so popular phone? Definitely could look like a scam. But then a courageous buyer bought one and not only got great capacity or duration, as got the drop issue aliviated.
My case, after a whole year with two original batteries. They started to suffer huge drops from 50% in the last 6 months, with max of 2:30 SOT. One got inflated, they badly lasted me more than a . Yesterday finally got my Kompson and my issue meet a end. No drop, maybe at 5%, 3% I got a drop to 1% then it last some time more and turns off.
This topic is to inform people with the Drop issue, as well as letting your experience with new, old stock batteries or Kompson. In order to inform and help people with this freaking issue.
I only got one battery with my device, so the moment I started to notice these strange drops, plus none of the "rescue" solutions such as battery calibration (rooted), didn't do anything, I search AliXpress, and bought one KonPson with any risk...
Since March 29th that I am using it, the phone works also with 0%!!! No crazy drops, no suddden 50%...
The load discharges slow an normaly.
TapaTalk and JiaYu S3 with Android MM!
Battery calibration isnt quick process to get rid off drops. What You need to do is stay with ONE rom longer! Do a calibration at 100%. Restart the phone. Than three-five times fully discharge battery (with normal use) and charge it to 100% its times. It take week or so. I have konspon and orginal battery and I dont have any drops - no matter which battery I use. I've made flashable batterystats file (from my own file after a week or so) and when I need to test new rom and return to mine testes I do flash batterystats.bin file via recovery and thats all.

I had two defective batteries, no way a calibration would save them from 50% drops.
Sent from my S3 using Tapatalk
Just swapped in my Kompson that I purchased a few months ago as a spare as I was experiencing a 10% drop. From my experience it was definitely battery degradation as it started fine and eventually worked up to 5% then 10% while the Kompson goes all the way down to 0%. It will be interesting to see if the Kompson does the same in such a short period as then it might be the device causing degredation rather than poorly made batteries.

Mine is rock solid until now, if it's inflated you should replace it immediately, there's a guy that battery got in fire and ruined the phone too.

One more question. Is it the store you bought from (BouBoo International trade co., LTD)?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/kon...ttery-free-shipping-Tracking/32360303710.html
I have 5 batteries and a pair of external chargers. One of the 5 is a Kompson. The differences are not abysmal but their performance is better.
Hi,
Where could I buy legit battery (stock or konpson) for Jiayu S3 Advance?
I have this same exact battery, I was the first one to get my hands on in our group and its so good that my facebook friends started to try buying it from me. So I sold it to one of them after I sold my jiayu s3 to get an iPhone.
Now that I just went back from an iPhone 2 months ago into another Jiayu S3 unit, I have to buy another Konpson battery for the same reason why my friends wants my Konpson so bad. LOL
Bye bye batt drops, hello my dear konpson
If you're gonna get one, just ignore what the capacity says. As long as it says Konpson for jiayu s3, you're all good. Those capacity are just labels anyway, in reality its the same capacity to the stock battery, just more efficient as to why it works and performs better than the stock battery despite having the same capacity.
kompson batteries no longer exist. now they are ones called "losoncoer" i think is the same factory (very similar sticker)

the battery of my nexus 4 go mad should i change it

Hello Guys
today my phone i don't know whats happening
the battery be 50 and go 70 and then go 2 so i don't know whats happening should i replace battery or what
i install (Ampere) app and tell me the health of battery is good so i don't what i should do
I would replace the battery. Battery is cheap on ebay even they are likely to be faked. I replaced batteries both of my Nexus 4 with those potential fake one. The temperature sensor isn't working on one of them so I know it is faked. But it doesn't give me trouble so far. I bought three from three different sellers.

Hello,
I've got the SAME problem with my Nexus 4 this week.
I'll try to say what happened (and I didn't resolve this yet)
First of all, it is shuting down my N4 all the time. I need to keep it at charged.
I tried to change my battery with a friend (with N4 too) and the problem persists.
I tried to change our USB modules, without success.
At this phone everything is working alright, even with battery (so it isn't a battery problem).
I cannot charge my battery or calibrate it. I charged my battery at his N4 and put at my N4: "74% battery" (it was 100%).
My gauge do some crazy jumps. It's like "15%, 76%, 100%" and when i put it off "100%, 44%, 2%".
NOTE: I tried to calibrate several times.
It keeps shuting down at normal use.
This problem occurs -at the first time- when I was at Android 5.1.1 (Chroma ROM). I changed to Android 6.0.1 and it still not working.
At charger works very fine.
At "TWRP" it works fine too (don't shutdown)
I REALLY don't know what can I do.
Now, i'm will install a Stock Rom just for science.
I have this problem(random shutdown, random reboot, when plug in battery dance) too. 6 six month ago I changed battery because phone battery drained as ****,so I used my phone only when plugged in (battery wasn't charging, just keep charge) and one day I used my n4 too long without charging, so battery drains. n4 died till I changed battery.
Everything stock, android 5.1.1 LMY48T, still hoping for OTA updates.English isn't my mother language, so will be pleased if you check it
Now I think about buying new phone. As for me its to much change battery one more time. Or itsnt batterys' fault?
I got back the Nexus 4 from a relative because she got a new phone. Also a cousin had a nexus 4. The batteries are terrible. Its been over 3 years so this was expected. I'm hoping the new battery will give it respectable SOT. Right now it just randomly dies at 50% or higher. And I have to wait for it to really die before I can bring it back to life. Its got the RED LED of Death.
Got to say, its a beautiful phone still. Forgot how nice it was
i buy new battery now its work fine

Beware! The majority of batteries sold on ebay are fake! You can identify them by the look: their print on the label is not white, it's more like a dirty grey. Also they are smaller (1-3mm) in length and width. Also they lack a temperature sensor and constantly report a temperature of 22-23°C. A quick check with a hairdryer will reveal it. Don't install these fake ones. I did twice and both failed within less than 100 cycles. Runtime was poor and they were swollen so much they lifted away the back cover!
I just got a Nexus 4 that my mother was using and installed CM13 and now Lineage 14.1 for my father to use. I'm also facing these random shutdowns.
On my last charge, I charged to 100% without any problem and left the phone in standby for a day and a half which took it down to 89%. I then used it last night to give it some SOT and left it at 74%. Just before going to bed, I pressed the power button and nothing. With a long press the phone booted and reported the battery at 73%. Waking up this morning I expected to press the power button and find the phone on something like 67%. Once again the phone had shut down and when I booted, the battery was on 2% and shutdown itself down straight after boot.
If the battery performance is rubbish, I can accept that due to the age of the phone. What I cant accept is totally inaccurate battery reporting and shutdowns. :crying:
I replaced the battery of my Nexus 4 yesterday, purchased from AliExpress. I suppose it is a fake one. The battery was too big to fit into the enclosure. I had to force it to let it fell into place. Finally it fell into place and it was connected, the phone won't turn on. The phone has given only a red led of death for about 12 hours. Probably it means a battery failure. I don't think the cheap batteries are in good condition and I don't think they're safe either.

I think the best chance to get an original battery is to purchase a battery from spareslg.com. The price of the battery is a bit too high in my opinion: 22,60 euros at the moment. A second hand nexus 4 costs approximately 60 euros, 80 euros tops, in the Netherlands. I don't know how much a second hand nexus 4 costs in Turkey. Perhaps it's better to consider a second hand nexus 4 and use your old nexus 4 for spare parts. A known issue of the nexus 4 is that the digitizer will stop randomly and the glass at the front and back of the phone is fragile.

i found a new battery 33 dollars on LG service center

Is my phone done for?

My Nexus 5 is more than 3 years old, and I think its planned obsolescence is kicking in.
Its battery life right now is about 3 hours, less with intensive use. I've tried buying a new battery, and even tried it with a fresh stock rom, no apps installed, with similar results. It makes sense to it draining so much battery regardless of the conditions? (I won't post GSam screenshots, since the same happens in these different scenarios).
I mean, I LOVE my phone, I can't think of a worthy replacement for good old Nexus 5... but I can't go on with 3 hours of battery life. Has this happened to any of you? What should I do?

I'm sorry to hear this! I just went through HELL and back to get my nexus 5 back working.. (replaced LCD/Digitizer, USB flex cable, Battery, installed chroot and adb/fastboot on chromebook to flash TWRP and root)
It's an AWESOME device. I would suggest getting a decent battery replacement and look at battery management apps or maybe a battery case? If my phone could be used on Verizon, I'd swap out my Galaxy S6 for the Nexus 5 in a heartbeat..
Best of luck!

I've in fact searched for battery cases, and good battery replacements, but being it a discontinued device is kinda hard (almost impossible). I've bought a battery claiming to be "official", still very bad results. For the case, the only battery case I've found available is this one, and it's a bad chinese battery: https://es.aliexpress.com/store/pro...r-Case-Free-Shipping/1267012_32683454756.html
Besides, I'm from Spain, so any usa store probably won't send to my country.
Any recommendations with this are appreciated!

Some of us have bought a battery replacement in RepuestosFuentes. Here's the direct link. They run out of stock from time to time.
As I said, mine is from there and it's working fine. Also, it has a recent manufacture date printed on it.
I still love my Nexus 5. Recently I paid around $13 to get the battery replaced at LG Service Center here in Bangalore, India and now the phone is back and running. Installed AOSP 7.1.1 and it's running as smooth as 6.0.

Actually, I'm not so sure a new battery would make things a lot better. Thing is, any battery attached to my phone just drains extremely fast (maybe some hardware issue?), so... replacing a new internal battery can make things better, but not much, since it's a internal battery.
The ideal solution would be a good battery case, so I can add that to its normal battery. But, as I said, I didn't find one that seems trustworthy for sale right now.

Check Your Battery, Mine was Getting Ready to Blow

My battery started draining a bit faster than normal. I hadn't added any new apps or made any changes to the system.
I'm not a heavy user, no gaming, occasionally stream netflix. Recently I have streamed netflix onto the tv with a cable. The cable is supposed to charge the phone, but it doesn't, so after a couple hours the phone is down to about 50%
So I went to pull the battery thinking the system needed a recalibration.
The battery was bulging (gases building up). Not good. I don't know if this was an isolated issue or as these phones get older, there is a flaw in some of the batteries.
The battery was the original. The phones manufacture date is 10/2016.
As a side note, the phone stores don't carry batteries. Batteries Plus has to order it $39.99. I ordered a couple OEM LG batteries off ebay for about $12 apiece. Now I get to go a week or so without a phone. It might be a good idea to get a spare and check your battery periodically. Better safe than sorry.
Cheers!

You should have called up LG. I would not trust any 3rd party or eBay.
Sent from my LG V20 using XDA Labs
Bought Aexpower X2 and a charger on Amazon for about $25 been solid for 6 months
All battery's will eventually fail, it's inherant in the current design iteration of lithium ion battery's, how long and how bad can vary, but a lithium battery that has consistent charge/discharge cycles daily will last around 8-16 months on average, doesn't matter what brand or size, it's just how there currently desgined, wait a few years till we have lithium-glass or lithium-plastic battery's then this will be a thing of the past...

Most every phone I have had I owned for 2 years. This is the first one to have a problem. Thank goodness it is removable.
Also, my dad (85 yrs old) had a Moto g4 he wasn't using. He switched to android because I did, but screwed the phone up with really crappy apps. I told him I would set it up for him, but he didn't listen. So he went back to ios. I had to do a factory reset of the phone to get rid of all the crap. Got it set up right and it's not that bad a phone (might even root it). Removable back and battery, SD card. but no IR Blaster. It was unlocked so my tmo sim worked right away. At least I have a phone for the next week while I wait for the new batteries to show up.
I'll be keeping a close eye on the new batteries. I hope no one else has this problem. Very dangerous. The case I had it in concealed the problem. When I took the case off, the back plate fell right off. It had already been pushed of by the expanding battery, but the case kept it from being noticeable.
Cheers!
I have 3 LG V20s and I have bought extra batteries for all of them but have never encountered your issue. Could it be that your custom ROM may have something to do with it?

I don't think so. I've been using the same rom and kernel for about a year. Hopefully it was just an isolated case.
Strange that you should post this. I too have just run into this. I normally get about 1 1/2~2 yrs out of a battery on my smartphone, however on my LG V20 that I got in Nov '17 it just started doing the exact same thing. I'm fairly experienced so I was trying to isolate if anything untoward was going on software wise. After nothing really was attributable to the loss I decided to examine the battery and bingo just like you the battery is quite swollen. I'm hoping that the new "supposed oem" battery that I ordered last week (should show up by end of the week) lasts longer than the oem battery that shipped with the phone.

I am also having bloating batteries. One is the original oem and the other is aftermarket Hyperion. Both are about a year old. I wonder if quick charge might play a factor as I use it all the time.
