I already thought the first volume level was too loud, but with the addition of xloud it definitely is.
Of course, I could just switch xloud off, but switching it off and on as much as switching volumes is a hassle.
Does anyone now a way to lower the first volume level?
Or alternatively, a way to switch xloud quickly? Like with a quick settings tile, or automatically on low volumes with Tasker-like apps?

Sure. You should import the .wav file that corresponds to the mentioned alert in your PC to a wave editor and normalize it. If it is already normalized you should try to apply multiband compression to it and tweak the compression ratio of the frequencies that match the characteristics of your devices loudspeaker

Yes. Still the same answer... shortly - you have to change the volume individually for each file by opening those files in an audio editor - the sms one louder and if it is already 100% then you need to make other ones softer. I am talking about the internal volume of the files. All the audio is played through the same wave device which is affected by a single system volume slider so there is surely no way to autoroute "recalled" wavs to a virtual buses with individual volume sliders. Maybe in the future... but this is more like in a pro audio playground already, I dont think this kind of consumer devices would ever support such a specific ground.
No its not a solution to reduce the volume of all system sounds and sounds of the applications, midis and whatever they use.
I think Photo Contacs Pro can do that...but i cant switch the phone silent with the regular volume control anymore...wich is something i like.
Hey guys, I been trying to find a way to boost my volume lvl when watching a movie, the stock volume doesnt seem to be loud enough, my fan in my room drowns out the stock volume when pushed to near max lvl.
So far the only 2 apps that I found have been Volume+ and Equalizer so I wanted to know,
which of the two works best? If you use them what are your settings?
Can you have both Equalizer and Volume+ installed at the same time?
Or are you using a different app?
I currently have Volume+ installed and cant tell if its doing anything.
As far as Equalizer goes, i have no idea what bars to push up so i pushed them all up and that seem to help make my volume louder.

As far as I know, Volume+ was made to work with Gingerbread phones only as stated in the developers market page, meanwhile Equalizer has been officially updated to support Honeycomb tablet screen sizes. I have been using Equalizer myself since the Xoom launched back in February. It worked great then, and now it works even better with the recent Honeycomb UI update!
The best sound output settings would be to drag all of the bars up to +15dB. The bass booster intensity, virtualizer, and the reverb settings would all be your personal preference. It usually won't ever distort the sound in any way, but rather increase the overall system volume by... I'm going to say literally 10 times louder. You'll notice an immediate difference especially while listening to music or watching a movie. Also, make sure that you have the notification bar shortcut option checked as the equalizer can sometimes be shut down by the Android system. Doing so will force it to turn back on automatically after a few seconds time.
Been using this exact setup for months now, and couldn't be happier! Hope this helps.
Disagree with above post. Don't crank up all your sliders to Max. Increase DB means you will get more distortion especially bass. Yes it will be louder. But the audio quality is utter crap. Why trade loudness and throw away the quality sounds this machine can produce? Half way up or less and keep lowest bass and high trebble a bit further back is my Max recommendation for Equalizer app. Heck just experiment and listen. I have both apps. Volume+ was a godsend to my evo 3d. Ended up returning it anyways. The volume increase bar doesn't work the same way on zoom. Also once in a while you have to move certain sliders lower for the effect to kick back in. Overall it sounded fake, hallow, washed out. Equalizer is a way better app for the zoom. You can set profiles and specific files can use different profiles. You aren't losing loudness per say cause it never really worked on zoom like other phones and zoom is already loud. For speaker I just choose flat. All at zero. Better then what zoom had as default.

Hmm.. I have been doing what I said in my post above since I got the OG Droid pretty much since it launched. The Droid maxes out at 10dB. Been using DSPManager on it to drag all bars to max dB. Yes, I know what that means, but with this method you will not be turning the system volume all the way up. It will be much louder, and I have not noticed any quality issues while maxing the dB while my Xoom is connected to my 200 watt wireless speaker system with the subwoofer cranked all the way up. It will cause quality issues if the system volume is totally maxed out, of course. That's common sense, but you will not ever have the need to do such a thing if you simply just adjust your Xoom's system volume properly and accordingly. You pretty much never ever want to max out the system volume if you were to use these kind of heavy settings on an equalizer. Again, common sense.
But yes, that's why there are the adjustable bars for an equalizer. You can change the settings on the fly just as you please. No audio quality loss if you do it right. I'm a tech expert, and that's what I have been doing for years. Wouldn't ever change it because there is no quality loss if you do it correctly, and the sound is ten times louder. I'm on Kangy8 and I don't know if this issue is related to all ICS roms.
So when I adjust the media volume while listening to music I basically get this more or less:

I also don't understand the Voodoo Control Plus audio settings.
Current amplifier is a negative number. Why? So what I understand is, that it's amplifying the current volume?
I saw that CodenameAndroid comes with a 30 step volume addon but as far as I know this will conflict with voodoo sound.
I don't have that volume issue in the stock ROM on my i9023, possibly a kangy bug.
The amplifier level is simple and useful once you understand it. I'll give you some background first and some general numbers.
dB (decibel) is a unit, in an audio sense, which measures the pressure of sound waves. It is a logarithmic scale and requires a reference level to compare to. Basics with audio decibel values:
1dB : Threshold of noticing a volume change
3dB : A little louder
6dB : Double the sound pressure
10dB : We perceive sound approximately twice as loud
Now that's out of the way; the analog control tells the amplifier inside the phone how much it should amplify the sound. Using 0dB as a reference, which is generally the loudest it goes safely, how much less (in dB) would you like it to amplify. If you want it to halve the perceived volume, you'll drop it down to -10dB (effectively half as loud as full blast). The reason why you would want to do this is generally if there is excessive noise generated by the amp, lowering the amplifying power and raising the software volume will give you the same volume and power, but lower additional noise as the amp is working below it's limit. Higher quality DACs of course can reach their max amp capabilities and add no noticeable noise to the earphones/speakers, of course.

I recently purchased the Moto G and installed (after testing all functions) the newest Cyanogen ROM. I'm quite happy with the overall performance of the device.
One problem is still annoying me though: The volume of every type (ringtone, in-call,...) of the headphone jack is much too loud, even on its lowest setting, since I'm using very high efficiency IEM's. The DSP-Manager doesn't appear to work (does not request root access, no change in volume when activated)
I've countered some parts of this issue with the following steps:
-The music volume is lowered by the Poweramp equalizer
-The volume of all custom ringtones, notifications and alarms is lowered by 15dB via Mp3Gain on my rig. This doesn't really help, because now the volume of all custom sounds is too low without the headphones. I barely get up in the morning, but it is definitely better than blowing out my eardrums.
So the question is: How can I activate the DSP-Manager? Or is there another way to solve this?

EDIT: Solved the problem by increasing the overall volume steps to 45 via modification of the necessary .jar file via this great guide (http://chrisdube.com/increase-number-of-volume-steps-in-android/). DSP-MAnager works, but only with media volume.
Hi - wanted to share my experience with the s7, particularly the sound (media) performance.
Got the S7 (duos) last week, rooted, and pretty much happy with the snappy device (and I like the camera much).
What I've noticed so far (and not happy with these) are: bluetooth connection issues (too many related posts here and everywhere else so I won't add my rant) and the sound settings not staying put.
Here's my sound settings experience -
1. If I set up (Settings/Sounds and Vibration/Sound Quality and effects) and tweak the settings to my liking - equalizer custom, surround on, concert hall on, and adapt sound personalized, the resulting output to my bluetooth and wired speakers are acceptable (lower volume than I prefer but I can manage)
2. That sound set up will mysteriously disappear although the settings do not change (i.e. the switches and equalizer settings are as I've set them) and the only way I get them back is to toggle the settings.
Very odd. I've never experienced this before (I've had a GS2, GS4, a note 8) and a Sony Z5 (selling).
Has anyone else experienced this and what was your fix?

I did not experience the same but there is another thing that is bothering me.
Sometimes Notification and System Volume gets changed with the same volume level whenever I change the Ringtone Volume level by pressing the volume buttons. it's like all these are stuck together.
I found that this issue is due to rooting the device. Some settings gets weird after rooting.
If i don't root, the phone works fine. No issues.
And if I increase the volume, we get a popup like "Listening at a high volume for a long time may damage your hearing". Upto this point the Sound will be minimum. If i increase just a bit more from that level, suddenly the Sound increases massively.
I have an issue with bluetooth as well. Not sure if it's related but I bluetooth Pandora through my truck, and I have my media volume turned all the way up so that I can just control it through the player installed in my vehicle. If I'm listening to music when I turn off my truck but leave Pandora open on my phone, paused of course, then start up the truck again the volume level is low as if it turns itself down to the "safe hearing level" setting, but when I go to raise the volume it tells me it's all the way up. This won't go away until Pandora moves on to the next song. It's kind of annoying because I don't want to blast my speakers when the song changes but I haven't found a solution. Maybe these are related because this only happens with bluetooth for me.
I think I may have had the problems before I rooted.
Anyone not rooted having similar issues on the sound settings changing?
(please, not don't post bluetooth issues here. There are many threads about that already)
