Samsung Galaxy S8 BIXBY Button Remap to any App (No Root) - Samsung Galaxy S8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Is this a guide? Or just a link for an app. Based on absolutely no description, this should probably be in the apps forum, not guides

lmt launcher question

I just installed lmt on my samsung galaxy s plus to use the pie function but I encountered a problem.
When I put a app on one of the buttons the app won`t start.
I tried every app but the pie functions does not start the app.
Maybe I`m just doing something wrong.
But I hope someone could help me
Thank you

Edge side launcher

I've watched a bunch of youtube and looked through here but nothing really answers this, can you put ANY app you want on the edge? I remember on my Note II, there was a side launcher you could enable but it took an xposed module to gain the ability to change/add apps from the 10 or so preordained apps. Is the edge launcher the same or is it more like the S5 Toolbox where you can choose any apps you want?
EDIT: Annnnd I just read a thread that answers this question..... sorry

I can confirm that Bixby Voice is running on my SM-G935F (Galaxy S7 Edge) running the Project Alice 1.0 Beta S8 Port.
The steps necessary are:
1. An S8 Ported S7 ROM (Such as the afformentioned, very stable Project Alice S8 Rom
2. All the 18 July Bixby APKs from APKMirror
3. The Flashable CSC Selection
After you've flashed your S8 ROM (which you can find out how to do easily elsewhere in the Forum) Install the Flashable CSC Selection in TWRP Recovery and choose "XAA", "USA Multi-CSC.
Once you've rebooted, go into the Hello Bixby screen by swiping right on the homescreen. (if you use a launcher other than Samsung's Touchwiz, you'll need to go into your Default Apps settings page and make it your default Home screen.)
Bixby should spring to life teaching you all about it.
Very preliminary thoughts, but two things I've noticed and have yet to quite work out:
1. Obviously the S7 doesn't have a dedicated Bixby button on the side like the S8, so launching Bixby Voice is a little trickier than it would have you believe. While Bixby does recognize spoken text and dictation, I haven't figured out a way to get it to respond to the "Hi Bixby" wake-up command.
Fortunately at the top center of the Hello Bixby screen, there is a little Bixby logo that can be tapped to bring up the voice prompt interface.
2. When asking it to do tasks with Native apps such as "show my clock", the UI says whichever app needs to be updated, but the update links it provides are broken. I haven't fiddled around with this, but I'm wondering if having a carrier branded CSC file would make things happier.
Anyway, it's there, and it looks like it has a lot of potential!
So let's get to work on creating a virtual Bixby button, or a remapper to map to our hardware keys so we can really find out Bixby's potential!
@anthonio6859 Thank you! I will follow the development

Question how to remove bixby and other apps

hi is it possible to completely remove bixby, for some reason i only can pick bixby when i hold power button, any help thanks, also how can i remove samsung apss, like calendar, clock and what not
You can't "actually" remove them without custom firmware that does not include them. You can, however, "uninstall" them.
It's a trick that uninstalls for the current user, which is similar to the stock functionality of disabling apps.
[GUIDE] [DEBLOAT] Remove stock apps WITHOUT ROOT
Asus Zenfone has stock android without bloatware .. why this thread is created ?? Agreed that we have near stock android and most of the apps can be disabled in settings. But with the method mentioned below, app will never wake up to consume...
forum.xda-developers.com
I believe there is a Samsung thread somewhere that gives the package names for a lot of those apps.
found sideActions on play store to removed and remap bixby. now on to removing these damn apps
you should just have a setting in settings / advanced features for the sidekey.

Looking for an app which acts like the recent app menu

Hello all,
I am looking for an app, which acts like a press of the "recent apps/recent activity" button. I mean the button on Android at the low end of the phone,. There is typically the back, home and recent apps button.
Background is, I want to setuo this feature on a physical keyboard button, but for this I need a dedicated app, which act like this.
Thanks a lot
[root] Recently - Apps on Google Play
Make recents (aka overview aka multitask button) useful again

Try this app that replaces the action of physical keys. There are many apps similar in operation, but for me this one is the best.
Button Savior Non Root - Apps on Google Play
Same great Button Savior without needing to root your device!
play.google.com
The paid add-on expands the capabilities by rearranging the button selection menu items and changing the number of buttons between 4 and 10.
I found another solution, thanks.
