I have successfully performed a frp bypass on this phone running 5.1.1. It was Accomplished as follows:
Boot phone all the way to login screen for google account. Once there enter google keyboard settings. Hit the 3 dots select help and feedback. select any topic, then highlight any word and click web search. When the websearch box appears type in chrome. Select the chrome icon at the bottom. Once chrome opens google kingoroot. Goto the kingoroot page and install the kingoroot app. Run the app and root the phone. Once the phone is rooted google the termux app. Download the termux app and run it. Once you have the termux app running the first thing you want to do is get root permissions. Type su and hit enter. Then type in this:
content insert --uri content://settings/secure --bind name:s:user_setup_complete --bind value:s:1
hit enter
then type reboot
when the phone reboots go to settings and do a factory reset.
and presto. go thru setup without any google account associated to the phone.
Thanks
Worked perfectly...Thanks so much!!
After I type in su and hit enter
The next command you give donts work say uri not found
Ok so I tried this and when it restarted and went to factory it still had Google lock on it
Thank you
This worked perfect,it took a little while to get the downloads but it did just what you said.now to unbrick my other one...

Its " -- " ,not a space but literally dash dash
There is a space after complete before -- {like this: complete --bind}
Same as the other example you asked about,no space after -- though

Normally when I have to do these I'm like the last to figure it out if at all. Basically you are typing 4 separate times.there is an <enter> near the end that was left out....were you able to get root first?

Hmmm..
How Long Did It tAke for you guys to download Termux v0.53_apkpure.com.apk???
Because it has been saying downloading for sometime...
Curious... Cause it seems it's not going anywhere to finish downloading.

I had to Google that and download it from a different site, also it's tricky to get the downloads to work because a separate screen comes up that doesn't download, since u are supposed to be locked out the phone wants to go back to keeping you from doing anything

I used media fire, but that's what I meant about the downloads being the hard part...I had to try for 3 hours to get it.but since we tricked the phone into getting online,it is still trying to boot us back out.i just had to press back alot and make sure I was in chrome instead of Google search app.....ahhh haaaa!!that's what it was.i remember checking the search bar and how it searched.in chrome browser ,actually typing Google shouldn't bring up the Google app as an option, just google.idk I tryied a billion times, just make sure u use chrome browser

First.... I am assuming the phone should be connected via WiFi? Or not?
Second.... I cannot seem to find any keyboard settings nor can I find an extended menu...the three vertical dots.
Any ideas??
And 3rd... the Termux app ver. o.53 can be downloaded ...HERE... with no issues.
Cancel that question. To access the keyboard settings menu, you have to hold down the "@" key until the settings "*" pops up....
Thank you very much. Worked great for me. Had to try couple times, but FRP is gone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J120A using Tapatalk
Thank you very much for sharing, this worked flawlessly for me. I just want to send a heads up to everyone here, DO NOT update if you get a notice for OTA update from your carrier!!!
I had gained root on the device using KingoRoot and was able to bypass the FRP lock once I had gained root by following the instructions in THIS thread. I factory reset the device and everything was working perfectly and was once again unrooted (I believed). I received a notification for an OTA update from MetroPCS and clicked Yes to install the update. The phone began the update process, rebooted into bootloader and failed halfway through. Now the phone will not boot. It loops and eventually ends up in the factory recovery mode. I tried another factory reset to no avail. I am able to boot into recovery or fastboot but, nothing more.
I am unable to find any factory images or update.zip's to fix this issue, anywhere. If anyone here knows how to make a backup that I could flash through adb or recovery, please let me know here or through PM. I'd be extremely grateful!
(Confirmed) 100% Working Method
I personally tested this method & can conclude it is working flawlessly. For those folks that have English as a secondary language or those that have a hard time following simple step-by-step instructions, I'll reiterate to the simplest form possible..
Download the apk I've provided > Sideload it to the root of your Coolpad's Internal Storage via pc & usb or ext SD Card
***WiFi or Data Connection required***
Navigate this path from Google Keyboard Settings:
1) 3 dots menu > Help & Feedback > Select any topic > Highlight any word > Web search > Search Kingroot apk download
2) Download/Install/Run Kingroot
3) After obtaining root w/ Kingroot, Navigate back to the Web Search page > search File > open any file manager app
If your device doesn't have a pre-installed File Manager, go back to Web Search & search ES File Manager apk > Download & Install apk > Open app
4) Internal Storage > Install Terminal Emulator app > Run the terminal
5) Input su & grant root access
6) After obtaining root access, input the following command exactly how you see it here:
content insert --uri content://settings/secure --bind name:s:user_setup_complete --bind value:s:1
7) Unless the terminal replies back with some sort of error message, all you need to do is reboot the Coolpad (input am restart for a hot reboot)
Once the device reboots, it will take you directly to the home screen. From there, you're free to sign in to any of your Google Accounts. No need to do a factory reset unless desired.

Need original GB firmware for Sky Vega Racer IM-A770K
Hi amunaf.
Thanks so much for posting those links for the Sky Vega Racer IM-A770K. I also have such a phone. I like it too very much too because of the fast CPU and its large screen.
Unfortunately I am now in a dilemma. When I got this fone, details of the "about phone" were as follows:
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - S0833144.TP15.R1090
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7.perf [email protected] #2
Build number - GINDERBREAD
Board and Software version - MSM8260_SURF V1.44
I was so happy being able to root with the above specs using SuperOneClick v2.3.2
Right after rooting and rebooting the phone, I received a message reminder from SKY (seen at the taskbar) saying there was an OTA update available for download. I then proceeded with the OTA download and upgrade and noted the file for download was only 13MB. Thought the download was quite quick, the file being loaded to my phone unusually took to a long time (almost 30mins to load) and I wondered why since the downloaded file was only 13mb. I noted the following changes on the "about phone" after the upgrade or patch:
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - S0833144.TP15.R1090
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7.perf [email protected] #1
Build number - GINDERBREAD
Board and Software version - MSM8260_SURF V1.47
After the OTA upgrade I then proceeded to again root the phone using the same SuperOneClick v2.3.2. Unfortunately, the rooting process always stalled on step 7 and again I tried several times but no luck. I already tried several rooting apps including the link you gave which uses fastboot but still no luck. There is now an update to SuperOneClick which is v2.3.3 but unfortunately still could not root.
I am recommending all those who are still on software version 1.44 to avoid that update in case they intend to root their Racer.
I'm now thinking if there is firmware out there at that Chinese site you had recommended if they have a version 1.44 for download. I am having a hard time translated that Chinese site, moreover that when I attempt to download any file. though I can't understand the Chinese commands, I'm sure the site was requiring me to enter a user name and password which is impossible for me to do and navigate the Chinese site.
Hoping you could help me on with my dilemma.
And that XDA developer gurus could make us a nice custom rom for the IM-A770K.
Rooting update 1.47
Hi
I was also upgrading my phone from 1.45 to 1.47. After upgrading I was also unable to root my phone then I use VR root to root my phone and successes with V1.47. you can download Vr root zip from here
mediafire.com/?a00ct1cofzbaag9
un zip it on your C: drive then using CMD load rooting.exe before it your phone is plug on to your computer and debugging mode must checked.
This method will install busy box, Superuser and su shell on your phone. You can uninstall the applications using unroot.exe
Hi amunaf,
Thank you again for your assistance. Unfortunately VRRoot via its rooting/unrooting.exe still didn't work for my A770K. Please see the rooting messages below:
The A770K is still DISCONNECTED with these messages:
C:\>rooting
C:\>adb remount
C:\>adb push busybox /data/busybox
C:\>adb shell chmod 6755 /data/busybox

C:\>adb shell chmod 644 /system/Superuser.apk
C:\>adb shell mv /system/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk

C:\>adb reboot
The A770K is already CONNECTED with these messages
C:\>rooting

C:\>adb shell rm /data/busybox
rm failed for /data/busybox, No such file or directory
C:\>adb reboot
I also tried fastbooting and the process just stops and stalls with no activity at all after sending the boot.img.sk.insecure file
C:\>sk
C:\>adb reboot bootloader
C:\>fastboot boot boot.img.sk.insecure
BTW I've already wiped cache partition, wipe data/factory reset and wipe internal sd partition. Unfortunately doing all that did not help. What do you think will happen if I initialize sd partition? I tried it before but it was cut short because my battery was went dead and that process I'm guess could take around 3-4 hours.
I'm still hoping there's still a way to root my phone.
Thanks a lot for the effort and help you've extended!
installing custom rom
You root it again with custom rom using this method below and after rooting use VR rooting. I hope it will work for you.
It also work even your phone brick or do nothing.
Steps:
1 Turn off the phone
2, while holding down the Volume Up (+) button, power button and search button three key until the boot. Screen will display "S / W Download" message.
into the sky's official website, (skyservice.co.kr/jsp/info/DownSW.jsp) find the USB driver just said that the download page, there is an option (vega racer im-770K (upgrade version 1.47)
to upgrade this system is self-vega, vega is popular to say the rom package itself. But can not download, install only online.
3. install USB drivers
The emergence of an icon and a S / W Upgrade after , plug in a USB port on the computer
4: Go to web address:
(dmfile.isky.co.kr/NewSelfUpgrade/index.html)
Note: for above web site use “internet explorer” browser other browser may be not work
Than will be prompted to install the plugin, click to install!
5: Wait for the icon from gray to pink
this process is relatively long, about 10 minutes or so. Until the progress bar has completed, the phone will automatically restart. This phone will return to factory state. You install the program will be cleared away flies, including the root before the operation. But the good news is that the content is still the phone book, photos, still. . .
At this step, your phone seems to back you just start state, then you have to do is to repeat the beginning of the operation of this tutorial. Re-root, again carefully delete unnecessary procedures, may once again face the risk of bricking again ... until the perfect resume ... so
After this you can root you phone via VR rooting
Success!
Hi amunaf,
I want to thank you with all my heart for being so helpful, patient and for the effort you did for the tutorial in solving my dilemma. My vega is finally again rooted! Though I encountered some problems such as a drained battery, slow inerconnect connection during download process (it took around one hour and fifteen mins. to download), etc. To make a long story short, in addition to the live firmware download from SKY, the SK.exe you pointed to download which vame with Vrroot also helped root the phone.
Thank you so so much more power to you!

To go into RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off phone
2. Simultaneously press:
VOLUME DOWN BUTTON
SEARCH BUTTON
Lastly POWER BUTTON
3. Release all three buttons when the SKY VEGA boot logo appears
4. When Android character w/ white triangle (with exclamation point inside) appears, press the MENU soft key (lower left side of the phone’s front face). The Android system recovery menu should appear
5. To choose a function, use the up/down volume buttons on the left side of the phone
6. To select and activate a function, press the SKY soft key
To go into Soft/Ware download mode
1. Turn of phone
2. Simultaneously press:
VOLUME UP button
MENU button
And lastly press the POWER button
3. S/W Upgrading will now flash on the screen
To upgrade firmware to version 1.47, you first need to download and install the USB drivers. You can get it directly from this site:
mediafire.com/?pgjltz97wkgoitj
Or from the Sky site:
http://www.isky.co.kr/sw/swdownloa...oftware/USB&filename=UniUSBDriver_v355[2].zip
When you reach the above page, there will be a java script with two identically sized boxes (Ignore the smaller box beneath the right box). Clicking the right side box will bring up the download box. Save file to computer.
4. After you have installed the drivers, test your phone’s connection to the computer to initially determine all the required drivers were installed properly. But before doing this, make sure that you have activated USB DEBUGGING on your phone.
>settings
>applications
>development
>usb debugging (must be checked)
5. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer v9, proceed to this page:
http://dmfileidc.isky.co.kr/NewSelfUpgrade/index.html
Notice when that page opens, it will prompt you to install ACTIVE X. Allow that installation to proceed.
6. After ACTIVE X has been installed, notice on the left side there is a phrase noting USB with some Korean characters. Underneath that phrase is a clickable rectangular PINK box. If that box is instead colored gray with a rotating circle, that might mean ACTIVE X did not load or install properly. Or you might be using a different browser or maybe something else. Notice the GRAY box is NOT clickable.
7. Clicking the PINK box will turn it into a progressing lavender bar. At this point, put phone into S/W download mode (volume up/ search /power buttons) and connect the A770k to the computer. Notice the characters on top of the progress bar may change and at this point there is communication between the phone and the Sky download site. It may take a few minutes for the phone to establish a download connection between Sky’s services. Once a connection is established, the characters above the progress bar will turn into a progressing percentage bar starting from 1% and ending into 100%.
There will be two phases of the progressing percentage bar. The first phase is downloading the software while the second is loading the v1.47 software into the phone. After the 2nd phase, the phone will automatically reboot. The first phase will depend who slow or fast your internet connection is. My download took around an hour.
As most tutorials here at XDA say, I take no responsibility if something goes bad after performing the above procedure. Do at your own risk. I’ve done this twice and so far so good.
A high performance-price ratio machine
Seems this is a machine that can draw xiaomi(a very hot machine in china mainland) from a so-called best performance-price ratio position. But as you know, software also play very important role in a phone system.

When you downloaded VRRoot, there were also 3 executable files that came with it. KT, LG and SK. With your phone connected to the computer and also necessary drivers installed, run SK but making sure USB debugging is also checked. Then after that process, run again rooting. Hope it'll work for you 'cause that worked for me when I also upgraded to 1.47 via OTA then could anymore root. Good Luck!
I've loaded CWM based recovery by @KD4865 v5.0.2.7 but my nandroid backups dont work. My phone always restores to its factory state. I've already made several backups but every time it goes back to phone's original settings as in I would have to setup from scratch and all my apps and personal data are gone. What could I be missing or doing wrong???

don't install file rooting.exe after install file SK.exe????
So last night I rooted my phone using an article from brief mobile. Can't post a link since I'm a new user so here's some copy paste:
Extract the ADB-Fastboot package and root image to your C:\ Drive under a new folder titled “root”
Put your device into Fastboot mode: – Turn off your device. – Hold down the power button and downward volume button until you see “Fastboot” on your screen – Push the upward volume button
Open your command prompt (Start >> run “cmd” >> enter)
Type the following commands
cd C:/root
fastboot flash preinstall root.img
fastboot reboot
Enable USB debugging (Settings >> Applications >> Debugging)
Type the following commands
adb shell
/preinstall/dosu
Type the following commands
/bin/mount /system -o remount,rw
cp /preinstall/su /system/bin/su
chmod 6755 /system/bin/su
PATH=/system/bin:$PATH pm install /preinstall/Superuser.apk
Congratulations! You are rooted!
Anyways everything worked out fine, the only hang up was an error that said "fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" after typing /preinstall/dosu. Anyways I tried it a few different times and then googled it and found another site that said just ignore the error. So I went on and finished the guide. Everything seemed successful, root was achieved. After rooting I removed a few bloat programs and went to bed for the night. Today I have had issues with the notification bar at the top crashing randomly, if I restart the phone the bar is there but eventually it just goes away. Also if the phone is asleep or I'm on any screen but the home screen when someone calls the phone rings but the thing that pops up that allows you to answer never comes up. I also do not get any text message alerts, the messages come through but I'm never alerted I have to open texts and see if I have any. So after all these issues I thought maybe I uninstalled something that was needed so I opened up Titanium Backup and re-installed all of the programs I uninstalled. Still no dice the problem persists. So I did a factory reset on the phone and still am having the same problem. Can anyone help me? Sorry if this was long winded, just trying to be descriptive.
Thanks
Any help out there?

ok so not long ago i had a problem with a locked android device with a pattern and i managed to unlock it using adb,so here's how in case you were stuck one day with a locked device.
the device needs to have usb debugging enabled in case usb debugging isn't enabled and you have cwm you can run the same instructions from cwm, root is not required (though it will be so better if the device was rooted)
this was tested on:gingerbread, ice cream sandwich and jelly bean.
both method are through adb.
method 1:
Code:
adb shell
cd /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
sqlite3 settings.db
update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock';
update system set value=0 where name='lockscreen.lockedoutpermanently';
.quit
-AND/OR-
method 2:
Code:
adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key
and that's a video showing how method 2 is done (thanks to melvinchng) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVJ7T2oC_Zs&feature=player_embedded
you can try both of them, here is how i managed to remove the lock:
1- run the first method.
2-reboot
3-run the second method
4-reboot
NOTES:
-in the first method each line is a seperate command so click enter after typing each line.
-in the second method type all the command and then press enter.
-after running both methods and rebooting you may see the pattern lock, that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work, just try any random pattern and it may unlock then remove the pattern from settings.
-this may and may not work,it may work on some devices and don't on others,so all you can do is trying it but i can't assure it will work.
a small donation would be much appreciated thank (check my signature)
But What if i remember the password well enough, but didnt have data enabled the moment it got locked?
Explained elaborately here>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29963687
It will unlock either (Loook at the time of message above - I am time traveler )
i have better method than bot the above ones
look for smudges on the phone
Do the files need to be restored or are they just the user data for the pattern locks?
This is really great...
i wonder how do you discover this
you must be a hacker
Or you could boot into recovery backup data
wipe factory reset and reboot
Could try restoring data but most likely restore pattern lock
Or simply enter your gmail address as requested
2nd option...
if you have Custom recovery
use AROMA File Explorer and you can do the same thing through the recovery
or adb through the recovery
FWIW, on CM10 neither method works as non-root. Yay CyanogenMod.
Method #1 FAIL:
1|[email protected]:/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases $ ll
opendir failed, Permission denied
255|[email protected]:/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases $ sqlite3 settings.db
Error: unable to open database "settings.db": unable to open database file
Method #2 FAIL:
[email protected]:/data $ ll /data/system/gesture.key
-rw------- system system 20 2012-08-11 04:51 gesture.key
[email protected]:/data $ rm /data/system/gesture.key
rm failed for /data/system/gesture.key, Permission denied
(I use faceunlock + pattern (mostly to keep my kid outta my phone), but if I actually cared more about security I'd encrypt my phone and use a passphrase instead)
This is a useful guide, thanks, I will try it :good:
So I guess if Debugging wasn't previously enabled, you have no chance to unlock it...
I've noticed a locked Archos tablet in a shop (probably some stupid shopper locked it) and when I saw this thread announced on the first page I was thinking of helping the shop owner. But I guess I cannot.
Have a nice day!
I don't know whether this method can use on neither:
Rooted
Installed Busybox
Rom Version Older or Newer than CM7
This method require ADB Debugging On & A PC & A tool Provided
I found this trick a long time ago

don't leave usb debugging checked on then.
I advise you guys to also post your Android version. My opinion is that the security hole that permits this hack has been removed in JellyBean, maybe even in an earlier version.
I will try it too a little later, just for the fun's sake.

If you have forgotten to leave USB debugging enabled, reboot your phone into recovery and do the same. No USB debugging required.
You may however need to mount the partition being accessed by this method, and you can do that only if you have a custom recovery installed (which you more-than-likely have, since you're here on XDA). Just go to 'Mounts and Storage' and mount /data. Then use the method just the normal way. Cheers!
Useful guide for sure. Will keep this as reference!
Does this only work for the pattern unlock or will it also work on the password or the PIN unlock screen?
I can confirm that it is working on a CM7.2 Motorola Defy.
Thanks m.sabra!
I went on and ported from scratch (not using work done for the i9000) Ubuntu Touch for our magic samsung captivate! The port itself is just the base of CyanogenMod to be able to support the binary blobs (drivers) of various devices without having to rewrite them (source code is usually not avaliable). Mine is the i897 ATT variant.
I wanted to post the link to the rom from my google drive, but since i just registered here to post this I cannot post external links. PM me and i will send the link to you ASAP!!
Installation instructions:
1- Copy the CM_BASE_UBUNTU_TOUCH zip file to the phone (internal or external sd doesn't matter)
2- Download the latest image of Ubuntu Touch from the ubuntu website. The current filename is quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip (This will change once the builds are based on Raring - 13.04 - and not Quantal - 12.10): PM ME FOR LINK OR SEARCH GOOGLE FOR "UBUNTU TOUCH DAILY"
3- Copy the Ubuntu Touch image to the phone
4- Reboot into recovery
5- Install CM_BASE_UBUNTU_TOUCH.zip from sd
6- Wipe Cache
7- Wipe Data partition
8- Install Ubuntu Touch zip from sd card
9- Patiently wait
10- Reboot and Enjoy!
EDIT--> Now you have the system 90% ready, but for the resolution of our device and the size of our screen we will have to change some parameters to fix the dpi and scaling:
EDIT 2 --> All these steps are unneccessary if you flash http://goo.im/devs/pawitp/galaxysmtd...x-20130223.zip after everything else. Thanks go to Citrit who pointed out the post in the i9000 ubuntu touch thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162534
If you want to go through how it is done, or if you want to play with the settings, follow on. If not, jump past the F.
11- While the device is on, connect to your computer via usb
12- From a terminal, run the following commands
A- adb root (necessary to be able to enter directly into a root adb shell)
B- adb shell (we are based on cyanogen, so our lovely adb commands still work)
C- ubuntu_chroot shell (to enter a linux command prompt, since ubuntu is a layer on top of the android linux kernel)
D- vi /usr/bin/ubuntu-session (edit the session configuration. I used vi but feel free to do however you like)
E- Here near the beginning you will find a series of preconfigurations for some devices and a generic one at the end: this is the one we have to edit. The GRID_UNIT_PX parameter with 18 as a value has to be changes to 11 or 12 (test and see how you like it), and the QTWEBKIT_DPR parameter with 2.0 has to be changed to 1.1 or 1.2
F- you can reboot directly from the chroot session typing "reboot" (without the quotes)
Taken from the Ubuntu Touch porting guide:
you can use adb port forwarding to easily connect to the container via SSH over USB. To do so, run the following commands:
adb forward tcp:8888 tcp:22
ssh [email protected] -p 8888
Currently the power button does not work with recent kernels, so one of the following options must be run:
remove the battery and replace it
run "reboot -p" from the adb shell
adb root
adb shell reboot -p
If you appreciate my work, leave feedback! If you don't, leave feedback! All feedback is welcome! I'd like to know your thoughts, experiences and what bugs or annoyances you encounter!
P.S If the mods could give me permission to post ouside links (or if they could post it themselves if i pm it to them) we would all be very grateful

Sure! All you have to do is reboot into recovery (sending an adb command or using the usual button combination) and reflash your favourite rom from there! I tested with the nightly CyanogenMod and with SlimBean, both 4.2.2, and all went well

What we have to do is change a couple of lines in the ubuntu-session configuration file. It is located, in ubuntu, in /usr/bin/ubuntu-session. The way i chose to edit this file was via chroot from my pc.
With the phone powered on, connect it to a computer with ADB installed (install the android sdk if you haven't, i personally use linux but you can on windows and osx too). Then from a terminal run the following commands:
adb root
adb shell
ubuntu_chroot shell
After you have inserted these commands, you will find youself in a chroot session, basically any command you now write executes on the phone as if you ran it from there. So i used a terminal text editor (vi, to be precise, but i assume you can use whatever you prefer) and opened the file with this command:
vi /usr/bin/ubuntu-session
vi was designed decades ago, for keyboards without arrow keys, so to move around read a bit on the page i PM'd you.
What you now have to do is scroll down to where you see the following code:
export GRID_UNIT_PX=18
grep -q QTWEBKIT_DPR /home/phablet/.bashrc
[ $? -ne 0 ] && echo "export QTWEBKIT_DPR=2.0" >> /home/phablet/.bashrc
export QTWEBKIT_DPR=2.0
export FORM_FACTOR="phone"
What you have to change is the 18 and the 2.0, repectively in 11 and 1.1 (play around with slightly different settings to get the feel you prefer).
Save the file and type "reboot" in the terminal.
Your phone will now restart, and load up the UI with the settings you just changed
Let me know if you have problems, when I find some time I'll get back to you
anyone?
Has anybody tried this yet?
Looks good
Everything installed fine, had no issues with that. Only issue I'm having is I can't seem to change the resolution by following the above steps. Ubuntu touch looks good though . WORKS: Wifi, Camera. Will provide more feedback once I get into it more.

What problems do you encounter? I noticed that trying to edit the file with nano wouldn't let me save it, as if the command just wouldn't go through, but maybe that was just me.
Everything worked great for me, and the latest build fixes the need for an open Wifi. It now prompts for a password. Here is a fix for the layout, it was taken from this thread:

Grab the file http://goo.im/devs/pawitp/galaxysmtd_ubuntu/ubuntu-aries-layout-fix-20130223.zip and install this last.

Have you read the information on how to use vi? There are certain commands to use to edit text, it was built for computer from ages ago, that didn't have many things we're now used to. Excuse me if you are experienced enough to know how to use vi ^^

Follow the instruction in the OP about installing a third zip file, then you can safely ignore all the vi instructions.
Sorry if I'm being a dip**** by asking this, but where exactly do I obtain a copy of this "CM_BASE_UBUNTU_TOUCH zip"? I have a captivate begging me for ubuntu touch right now. lol :silly:
can you port to vibrant too
the vibrant is the tmobile version on the captivate can your port to that too. il help with testing:fingers-crossed:
Well from what in seeing I think all u do is flash the nightly of cm10.1 or whatever it is and u should be fine I think his cm_base_Ubuntu_touch thing is his rip from the rom and he's flashing it just as a kernel

maybe post to github also...
Is it possible to dual boot my ics jb and ubuntu ? any tutorial ? thanks
Hello,
I am looking to watch my PS Vue subscription on my rooted Galaxy S7. I've tried to use RootCloak to no avail. Added com.snei.vue.android to the application list to cloak but PS Vue comes back with "Not available for your device" after launching. Obviously it's still seeing the device is rooted.
Any thoughts on getting this to work? The Amazon Fire TV forum says to rename xbin/su and superuser.apk but adb is giving me a "device or resource busy" when running the first mv command.
For reference, here is what Fire TV users are doing to get theirs working on rooted FTV's:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system /system
chmod 761 /system/xbin/su
mv /system/xbin/su /system/xbin/xsu
mv /system/app/Superuser.apk /system/app/XSuperuser.apk
Thank you for your help in advance.

Fix for Playstation Vue Mobile on Galaxy Note 10
I came across this page in my search and thought I'd come back to share the fix I found using RootCloak. I can't share links yet, but you can find the video on Youtube by searching "How to Hide Root on Android with RootCloak" by AppReviewBros.
1. Install Xposed-Modules from the Play Store
2. Open it and select "Download"
3. Enter: RootCloak
4. Swipe the RootCloak page to the left and select the latest download.
5. Once it finishes, click "Install"
6. Activate the module (you should see that your device has a new notification; just open it and check the box)
7. Go back to the home screen and reboot the device
8. After it restarts, open RootCloak
9. Select "Add/Remove Apps"
10. Press the "+" in the upper right corner
11. Find and select "PS Vue Mobile"
12. Go to your device's Settings>Application Manager>PS Vue Mobile>Force Stop
13. Run the Vue app again, and it should work!

Great mate
Yes latest RootCloak is working for me too. Just signed up for this thing, and would have been a dealbreaker if this didn't work.
What I'm hoping to find out is, if I could set up some kind of proxy here to make the app think i'm ALWAYS home...

As far as i know, you would have to setup a vpn service on your home router and then tunnel to it whenever you were not at home. Then all traffic would look like it was coming from your home router. Of course your download speed while tunneling would be limited to your maximum upload speed for your service connected to the router providing the vpn. I have successfully tried this with my own hardware and it works. Just be aware of the download/upload caveat i mentioned.

I do have 24Mb upstream, but between the remote streaming they do allow and also getting access to the various networks' apps (Fox Sports GO etc), I'm not sure it's worth bothering. I also still have my trusty Plex server as well.

Well I found a quick fix for that everyone is over analyzing it if you have SuperSU watch my video

It appears I can't post links yet so you'll half to just backspace the empty spaces
I got it working by flashing Magisk instead of SuperSU in twrp. Then just download the Magisk Manager in the play store then select PSVue under magisk hide in the app.
