Friends
I bought used SKY IM-A770K phone from our local market and used it, although it is with android 2.3.3 but it is really great phone. At first I use Samsung I900, HTC HD, Xperia Arc, I9000 etc. but it gives me more and more pleasure. It is a greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet phone.
There is no third party custom rom or kernel found.
I request to XDA developers and other XDA community please works on that phone and create custom roms and kernels for it
I found Pantech SKY IM-A770K update zip, clockworkmod Rom, root, USB drivers and recovery from a china’s website bbs.xda.cn/forum-507-1.html here is a complete forum part on IM-A770K and A760s. You can translate this site using goole chrome.

Need original GB firmware for Sky Vega Racer IM-A770K
Hi amunaf.
Thanks so much for posting those links for the Sky Vega Racer IM-A770K. I also have such a phone. I like it too very much too because of the fast CPU and its large screen.
Unfortunately I am now in a dilemma. When I got this fone, details of the "about phone" were as follows:
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - S0833144.TP15.R1090
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7.perf [email protected] #2
Build number - GINDERBREAD
Board and Software version - MSM8260_SURF V1.44
I was so happy being able to root with the above specs using SuperOneClick v2.3.2
Right after rooting and rebooting the phone, I received a message reminder from SKY (seen at the taskbar) saying there was an OTA update available for download. I then proceeded with the OTA download and upgrade and noted the file for download was only 13MB. Thought the download was quite quick, the file being loaded to my phone unusually took to a long time (almost 30mins to load) and I wondered why since the downloaded file was only 13mb. I noted the following changes on the "about phone" after the upgrade or patch:
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - S0833144.TP15.R1090
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7.perf [email protected] #1
Build number - GINDERBREAD
Board and Software version - MSM8260_SURF V1.47
After the OTA upgrade I then proceeded to again root the phone using the same SuperOneClick v2.3.2. Unfortunately, the rooting process always stalled on step 7 and again I tried several times but no luck. I already tried several rooting apps including the link you gave which uses fastboot but still no luck. There is now an update to SuperOneClick which is v2.3.3 but unfortunately still could not root.
I am recommending all those who are still on software version 1.44 to avoid that update in case they intend to root their Racer.
I'm now thinking if there is firmware out there at that Chinese site you had recommended if they have a version 1.44 for download. I am having a hard time translated that Chinese site, moreover that when I attempt to download any file. though I can't understand the Chinese commands, I'm sure the site was requiring me to enter a user name and password which is impossible for me to do and navigate the Chinese site.
Hoping you could help me on with my dilemma.
And that XDA developer gurus could make us a nice custom rom for the IM-A770K.

Rooting update 1.47
Hi
I was also upgrading my phone from 1.45 to 1.47. After upgrading I was also unable to root my phone then I use VR root to root my phone and successes with V1.47. you can download Vr root zip from here
mediafire.com/?a00ct1cofzbaag9
un zip it on your C: drive then using CMD load rooting.exe before it your phone is plug on to your computer and debugging mode must checked.
This method will install busy box, Superuser and su shell on your phone. You can uninstall the applications using unroot.exe

Hi amunaf,
Thank you again for your assistance. Unfortunately VRRoot via its rooting/unrooting.exe still didn't work for my A770K. Please see the rooting messages below:
The A770K is still DISCONNECTED with these messages:
C:\>rooting
C:\>adb remount
C:\>adb push busybox /data/busybox
C:\>adb shell chmod 6755 /data/busybox

I also tried fastbooting and the process just stops and stalls with no activity at all after sending the boot.img.sk.insecure file
C:\>sk
C:\>adb reboot bootloader
C:\>fastboot boot boot.img.sk.insecure
BTW I've already wiped cache partition, wipe data/factory reset and wipe internal sd partition. Unfortunately doing all that did not help. What do you think will happen if I initialize sd partition? I tried it before but it was cut short because my battery was went dead and that process I'm guess could take around 3-4 hours.
I'm still hoping there's still a way to root my phone.
Thanks a lot for the effort and help you've extended!

installing custom rom
You root it again with custom rom using this method below and after rooting use VR rooting. I hope it will work for you.
It also work even your phone brick or do nothing.
Steps:
1 Turn off the phone
2, while holding down the Volume Up (+) button, power button and search button three key until the boot. Screen will display "S / W Download" message.
into the sky's official website, (skyservice.co.kr/jsp/info/DownSW.jsp) find the USB driver just said that the download page, there is an option (vega racer im-770K (upgrade version 1.47)
to upgrade this system is self-vega, vega is popular to say the rom package itself. But can not download, install only online.
3. install USB drivers
The emergence of an icon and a S / W Upgrade after , plug in a USB port on the computer
4: Go to web address:
(dmfile.isky.co.kr/NewSelfUpgrade/index.html)
Note: for above web site use “internet explorer” browser other browser may be not work
Than will be prompted to install the plugin, click to install!
5: Wait for the icon from gray to pink
this process is relatively long, about 10 minutes or so. Until the progress bar has completed, the phone will automatically restart. This phone will return to factory state. You install the program will be cleared away flies, including the root before the operation. But the good news is that the content is still the phone book, photos, still. . .
At this step, your phone seems to back you just start state, then you have to do is to repeat the beginning of the operation of this tutorial. Re-root, again carefully delete unnecessary procedures, may once again face the risk of bricking again ... until the perfect resume ... so
After this you can root you phone via VR rooting

Success!
Hi amunaf,
I want to thank you with all my heart for being so helpful, patient and for the effort you did for the tutorial in solving my dilemma. My vega is finally again rooted! Though I encountered some problems such as a drained battery, slow inerconnect connection during download process (it took around one hour and fifteen mins. to download), etc. To make a long story short, in addition to the live firmware download from SKY, the SK.exe you pointed to download which vame with Vrroot also helped root the phone.
Thank you so so much more power to you!

To go into RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off phone
2. Simultaneously press:
VOLUME DOWN BUTTON
SEARCH BUTTON
Lastly POWER BUTTON
3. Release all three buttons when the SKY VEGA boot logo appears
4. When Android character w/ white triangle (with exclamation point inside) appears, press the MENU soft key (lower left side of the phone’s front face). The Android system recovery menu should appear
5. To choose a function, use the up/down volume buttons on the left side of the phone
6. To select and activate a function, press the SKY soft key
To go into Soft/Ware download mode
1. Turn of phone
2. Simultaneously press:
VOLUME UP button
MENU button
And lastly press the POWER button
3. S/W Upgrading will now flash on the screen
To upgrade firmware to version 1.47, you first need to download and install the USB drivers. You can get it directly from this site:
mediafire.com/?pgjltz97wkgoitj
Or from the Sky site:
http://www.isky.co.kr/sw/swdownloa...oftware/USB&filename=UniUSBDriver_v355[2].zip
When you reach the above page, there will be a java script with two identically sized boxes (Ignore the smaller box beneath the right box). Clicking the right side box will bring up the download box. Save file to computer.
4. After you have installed the drivers, test your phone’s connection to the computer to initially determine all the required drivers were installed properly. But before doing this, make sure that you have activated USB DEBUGGING on your phone.
>settings
>applications
>development
>usb debugging (must be checked)
5. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer v9, proceed to this page:
http://dmfileidc.isky.co.kr/NewSelfUpgrade/index.html
Notice when that page opens, it will prompt you to install ACTIVE X. Allow that installation to proceed.
6. After ACTIVE X has been installed, notice on the left side there is a phrase noting USB with some Korean characters. Underneath that phrase is a clickable rectangular PINK box. If that box is instead colored gray with a rotating circle, that might mean ACTIVE X did not load or install properly. Or you might be using a different browser or maybe something else. Notice the GRAY box is NOT clickable.
7. Clicking the PINK box will turn it into a progressing lavender bar. At this point, put phone into S/W download mode (volume up/ search /power buttons) and connect the A770k to the computer. Notice the characters on top of the progress bar may change and at this point there is communication between the phone and the Sky download site. It may take a few minutes for the phone to establish a download connection between Sky’s services. Once a connection is established, the characters above the progress bar will turn into a progressing percentage bar starting from 1% and ending into 100%.
There will be two phases of the progressing percentage bar. The first phase is downloading the software while the second is loading the v1.47 software into the phone. After the 2nd phase, the phone will automatically reboot. The first phase will depend who slow or fast your internet connection is. My download took around an hour.
As most tutorials here at XDA say, I take no responsibility if something goes bad after performing the above procedure. Do at your own risk. I’ve done this twice and so far so good.

A high performance-price ratio machine
Seems this is a machine that can draw xiaomi(a very hot machine in china mainland) from a so-called best performance-price ratio position. But as you know, software also play very important role in a phone system.

When you downloaded VRRoot, there were also 3 executable files that came with it. KT, LG and SK. With your phone connected to the computer and also necessary drivers installed, run SK but making sure USB debugging is also checked. Then after that process, run again rooting. Hope it'll work for you 'cause that worked for me when I also upgraded to 1.47 via OTA then could anymore root. Good Luck!

I've loaded CWM based recovery by @KD4865 v5.0.2.7 but my nandroid backups dont work. My phone always restores to its factory state. I've already made several backups but every time it goes back to phone's original settings as in I would have to setup from scratch and all my apps and personal data are gone. What could I be missing or doing wrong???

Huawei Ideos Super FAQ

This is an FAQ for the Huawei Ideos as there have been many questions on how to do the same things. Hopefully this should help. There are other FAQs but this one tries to compile as many as it can into one FAQ.
Feel free to reply to this if there are any questions or if you want me to make any additions. The FAQ won't be complete to begin with but I will add as I get time.
One thing I will say is that I WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBITY IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR PHONE. I AM PROVIDING THE INFORMATION AND WILL TRY TO HELP YOU IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS BUT I CAN'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY
1. How to root the IDEOS
This can be done quite simply by adapting what quail wrote:
There is a couple away you can go about gaining root access with this phone I have tested all 3 ways but only had success with 2 of them.
a) You can download 'z4root' from here (WORKS)
b) Search the XDA forums for 'SuperOneClick' which requires mono to work on Linux. I have read people that have had success with 'SuperOneClick' but that was not the case for me. (HAVEN'T CHECKED)
c) My preferred method: (HAVEN'T CHECKED)
Prerequisite:
knowledge of Linux and Terminal
knowledge of ADB (guide available in forums)
I did all this using Debian (testing) 64bit, Android SDK.
Creating correct permissions to access the phone via USB:
i) create
Code:
/etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
ii) in the file put
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="12d1", MODE="0666"
iii) then
Code:
chmod a+r /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
iv) restart udev or reboot
Downloading and/or Installing required software:
1) Downloading and installing the android-sdk from: developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2) Downloading and extracting 'SuperOneClick' (you will only need these 5 files: rageagainstthecage, sqlite3, su, busybox and superuser.apk)
3) Copy rageagainstthecage, sqlite3, su, busybox and superuser.apk into the platform-tools directory of android-sdk. Put phone in debug mode.
4) From a terminal (command line) change to the android/platform-tools directory and carefully do these steps.
Check to see if adb can see your phone properly:
Code:
./adb devices
You should see the serial number of you device, if you see bunch of '?' you have done something wrong.
Now for the fun part rooting the phone: <= no phun intended hehe
Code:
./adb push rageagainstthecage /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage
Code:
./adb shell
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
Code:
chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage
Code:
./rageagainstthecage
5) Now wait until you get kicked out from adb before you do the following:
Code:
./adb shell
If everything worked now you should see a "#" instead of the "$" you saw previously in the adb shell which means you shouldn't get "permission denied" in the following steps:
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mdtblock4 /system
Code:
exit
Code:
./adb push su /system/bin/su
Code:
./adb push busybox /system/bin/busybox
Code:
./adb push sqlite3 /system/bin/sqlite3
Code:
./adb push Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
Code:
./adb shell
Code:
cd /system/bin
Code:
chmod 4755 su
Code:
chmod 4755 busybox
Code:
chmod 4755 sqlite3
Code:
./adb reboot
Now you should be able to use apps like 'Cache Cleaner NG', 'Root Explorer', 'SetCPU' etc that require root access to work correctly.
Enjoy
2. How to flash the Ultrakiller Recovery Image
Now this has been covered many times but there have been a lot of problems with the BSOD on the IDEOS. A few days ago Ultrakiller came up with a solution that works regardless of the LCD type. Now this was distributed as an IMG file so many people were confused so here is a link to one with everything you need included. All I did was remove the amon'ra image and copied the Ultrakiller recovery IMG to the folder and edited the scripts to point to the new file.
After you download the file:
* Put your device in bootloader mode - turn it off, then press the power button while holding the 'Volume Down' and 'End (Red)' keys (Yes, bootloader is just the IDEOS logo) WHILE YOUR DEVICE IS PLUGGED IN
* WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat'
* MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-recovery-mac.sh' followed by './install-recovery-mac.sh'
* LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-recovery-linux.sh' followed by './install-recovery-linux.sh'
See Q3 if you have Windows and the prompt hangs on "Waiting for Device"
3. How to solve problems with drivers on Windows in bootloader mode?
1. Unplug your phone
2. Download and install PDANet from here - at the end of the setup it will tell you to plug in your phone - do that
3. Put the phone into bootloader (See Q2 above)
4. Go to device manager and right click on "Android 1.0" and click "Update drivers"
5. Click "No, not this time" and Next
6. When it asks you where to look for drivers point it to PDANet's install location
7. Hopefully it should find the driver and prompt you to install it - it will take some time
8. You can now access your device in bootloader!
Thanks to the following people:
Quail for the base of the guide and the ROM I'm using - it's amazing BTW
Ultrakiller for the recovery image
Changelog:
21/01/2010: Initial writeup
22/01/2010: Added Q3 and made some minor changes
i unfortunately deleted a system app and upon restarting my phone it wont boot.....it keeps hanging at the startup and reboots.. help me how to system restore...
Hi - the Ultrakiller recovery IMG in the ZIP from the Link above is "Ultrakiller.img.img". Dunno if it didnt work cause of this - sry didnt test, just downloaded new Ultrakillers "UltraJack-Recovery_v4.6.2.img", saved into that folder and changed the .bat to "fastboot-windows.exe flash recovery UltraJack-Recovery_v4.6.2.img" and it worked for me Even superuser.apk didnt work for usb-root but z4root does it perfect and DroidExplorer showing files now .
Thanks so far to all investing their time here
P.S.: the HUAWEI background of Ultrakillers recovery is very delicious

Dear have u find out the solution of this problem?? COZ im also suffering from this if u find it then plz tell me [email protected]
I have downloaded a rom from xda-developers wiki from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Huawei_U8150_IDEOS
then updated my device software by going in to update mode(press vol up + end key + power button) .
This step returned me my original recovery.
But I am not going to recommend it bcoz i am facing problems like my cd drive which is automatically displayed has become inaccessible.
I am having problem to copy files to sd card.
My upgrade mode is not working now.
all these things were working immediately after the above mentioned process but I am now stuck with these things.
I think it is because i have flashed lower version number of rom on phone.
If you want to recover recovery mode only then I have successfully flashed UltraJack-Recovery 5.2.1 from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860189&page=24
Inform about your progress
Thanx. Very useful
Hi guys. I am in a lot of trouble with my ideos.
Tried installing a custom ROm using ROM manager and it failed, although the original ROM is still there and its booting up and working perfectly.
However, when i try to boot into recovery, only the lit blackscreen shows.
I have tried everything from running ULTRAjack recovery on windows(which only shows 'waiting for device' on cmd, with the pdanet drivers installed) to ubuntu(which shows 'waiting for device' on Amon-ra recovery and permission denied on ULTRAjack).
Could it be i didnt root the device properly since i used z4 root?
Any more ideas?

This is a very unpopular device from Indonesia. Although it is very easy to Root using "Superoneclick". As more people got hold of this free set(via Singapore old Starhub Internet plans), more people are also starting to ask about the steps on rooting this device. I thought I should start a guide here where I've followed from different places, piece them together here.
Feel free to comment and share if there are other ways to root, flash and install custom roms or android version. More importantly over clocked kernels. (remember seeing a link at kwbr's thread)
There are similar sets "CSL Spice Mi700 DroidPad", "Viewpad 7", etc
Alternatively you could research more by heading on to Viewpad 7's thread as I found out that device is very much similar and more developers are active there. I've also tried flashing kwbr's rom and it works for me.
Well if you are going to follow this thread to root, then read on...

Congrats! Your device is rooted!
If you are satisfy with only root and superuser access, then you can stop here.
If you would like to install(flash) Clockworkmod recovery so you can backup your device(nandroid) and flash rom/kernel/stuff easier, proceed to step 2. (Highly Recommended)
If you want to set up ADB proceed to step 3 (optional, may come in handy and good for other android devices.)
2. ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
2a. Preparing to installing CWR
Download CWR 5.0.2.6 and Flash_Image
Unzip, then copy "flash_image" and "cwm5026.img" to the root of your sdcard. (if you don't know how.. take your SDcard out and use a card reader)
Power on the device and install a terminal app so you could type commands in, try Android Terminal or Terminal Emulator
Once installed, open the app and start typing:
Gain superuser access type
su (once in superuser, you will see "#")
Click to collapse
copy flash_image to system/bin
cp /sdcard/flash_image /system/bin
Click to collapse
Install the flash_image
chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
Click to collapse
Backup your original Recovery
cat /dev/mtd/mtd3 > /sdcard/orirecovery.img
Click to collapse
And if you ever want to restore back for warranty issues
flash_image recovery /sdcard/orirecovery.img

2b installing ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
The previous ver 2XXX is pretty outdated, thanks to mb-14 for sharing 5026.
Now you are ready to flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Assuming the file name that you download from CWR is "cwm5026.img" Type
flash_image recovery /sdcard/cwm5026.img
Click to collapse
Done!
Now to run Clockwork Recovery:
First, turn off your device.
Now, hold down both volume button and press the power button at the same time, when you see recover on the corner of the screen, you can let go as you will boot up in Clockworkmod Recovery.
How to use 5.0.2.6 CWR?
Use the device vol+ and [/b]vol- to move up and down or the soft keys menu for "down", home for "up"
Select options by pressing the power button or , use the soft keys search for "enter"
back is for "back".
When you load into CWR, you could do many stuff, some simple info on the main options,
Wiping data is resetting your device to factory default, but CWR remains as long as you do not flash a stock recovery or a rom with a different recovery inside.
You could do stuff like formatting and partitioning SDcard to prepare for Apps to be install in SDcard to save space in device. Other than that, you could do a Backup for your entire device which is also known as nandroid backup, but it doesn't backup the bootloader and radio, so take note if you are going to flash custom radio or bootloader.
If you have a backup, you could restore back to that backup, this is good if you accidentally flash something bad or dislike a rom
Fixing permission is good if you always have FC.
You can mount SDcard to your pc from here and manage files with from your PC.
You could use ADB to push / pull files in and out of your device from PC.
you could install other roms, kernel and files using the "install zip" option.
If you want to set up ADB proceed to step 3 (optional, may come in handy and good for other android devices.)
3. Installing ADB on your windows
Download and install Latest JAVA SE Development kit "JDK" and Android SDK.
Follow the steps here on installing ADB, Android Debug Bridge.
3a. SET PATH for ADB: Check if you had set the path to sdk platform tools folder, this is to run adb command from any path. Steps for Windows XP:
Right-click ‘My Computer’ and click ‘Properties’.
In the ‘System Properties’ window, click the ‘Environment Variables’ button on the ‘Advanced’ tab.
Find ‘Path’ in the ‘System variables’ section and double-click it to edit it.
Make sure NOT to delete the existing entry in ‘Variable value’.
Just add the following string to the end of it, including the semi-colons:
;c:\android-sdk-windows\tools;c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools;C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
Click to collapse
Start ADB shell to command picopad from your pc:
Make sure Picopad is connected to pc via USB and sdcard is mounted.
From PC, Goto command prompt (Start -> Run type "CMD")
Type "ADB devices" from command prompt ( to see if path is set and picopad is connected, you should see 1 device attached, not more, not less)
C:\Documents and Settings\tish>adb devices
List of devices attached
FM88888888888 device
Click to collapse
Troubleshooting:
If you can't get the adb command to work, probably you didn't set the path correctly, refer back to SET PATH or go to your adb actual folder to type the command which should be here C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\
3b. Using ADB
At recovery or booted up device, on Pc Type:
adb shell (you will see "$")
Click to collapse
now access superuser type
su (allow superuser access from Picopad and you will see "#")
Click to collapse
Here you can copy files using (push/pull), I recommend you google for ADB commands to have a better understanding.
4. More sections to come eg: The space problem on the device, so alternative is partitioning sdcard to install apps as to free up space in device........
You could buy me a beer if you really appreciate my work here.

Original recovery image provided by jax79sg here
This is to recover original recovery and replace clockworkmod recover.
This step is done because you need to send your set for warranty repair probably.
Remember to do a factory reset first before replace with original recover.

It supports without any modification in the first place.
Roms, probably the MI700's custom rom will work, get to hucqim80's signature, the link is there.

Okay, i know your problem... just change the option in superoneclick from psneuter to rageagainstthecage... and then root it...
when the superoneclick start to not responding, just re root it using the same method....
then to enable your superuser, install z4root to your device
I managed to root the picopad and flashed as stated.
When i boot up pressing both power and vol button, i was brought into this FTM mode. And from there i can't do anything...... the screen looks as follows.
Hmm....the cwrecovery didn't get flashed?
SWVer=3.240
MODEL: FM6-0001
HWVer:106
Power on with pressing VOLUME_DOWN keys to leave Auto FTM.
[Resolved]
Try holding both up and down volume buttons instead of just one of them

[How to] Everything I know about the Gooapple 3g and Gt-6

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the discombobulation of this post, but I have been adding to it non stop.
This thread covers all I have learnt from this model phone;
Root procedures for both Gooapple and iorange GT-6
ADB access (no USB adb so need to use over WiFi), - ADB WORKING NOW!!
Secret reset button location,
Recovery mode,
Download mode,
Drivers,
How to (and not to) theme framework-res.apk with uot kitchen
Flash tool

Upgrade External storage.
GPS server change.

Alternate ROM dumping method (Thanks Dastin1015)

Full Market on the Goo
ROOT;
I have purchased one of these and they are quite easy to get root using Visionary+ for temporary root option to push su and Busy Box, then use Z4root for permanent # works quote well and easy and
Checkout the rooting video here (http://www.youtube.com/user/mayiandjay) for an easier way just using z4root.
ADB OVER Wi-FI;
once you can get adb to recognise it (using terminal emulator on the phone
"setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555"
then
"stop adbd"
"start adbd"
from there you can use your pc to run
"adb connect *insert IP address here*"
UPDATE: I found how to get ADB access over USB... I just insta;;ed the PdaNetA302.exe file from http://www.alcatel-mobilephones.com/global/content/view/full/25287
and then disconnected when advised to, reconnected when advised to, then BAM!!! working ADB..
I wish I had known about this a week ago...
From here you can have access to all supported adb commands including shell for # access, also for pushing and pulling files from the goo,
UOT KITCHEN; (Be careful dangerous)
I used the "ADB PULL" command to pull "/system/framework/framework-res.apk"
from the device, I then used the UOT Kitchen to modify it to my liking once I got the uot .zip file, I extracted the framework-res.apk file and used "adb push" to overwrite the one inside /system/framework/ dir.
(use a pc to push, not the phone explorer copy paste... Lol I bricked mine by using the file explorer, see the rest of the post for more info....)
RECOVERY MODE, DOWNLOAD MODE and BOOT ANIMATION;
some other usefull info is that you do not have to wait for the phone to run dead if you use the wrong key combo whilst booting ( trying to get into recovery hold home button whilst turning on then 5 seconds after "gooapple" appears let go of home and then press it again) you will get recovery console, where you can change the boot animation to the static apple or the gooapple animation, you can also do a factory reset or clear cache, from here you can also run an "update.zip" file but unfortunatly after i 1/2 bricked mine i stupidly did a factory reset and lost rw on /system (loosing bus box and su) (CRAP!!!) i was using the above mentioned method to use the "uot kitchen" to retheme the framework-res.apk file of the goo, and it was working fine when pushing the framework-res.apk to the phones /system/framework/ dir using a pc, but I got lazy and stupidly did a copy / paste using the phone to return to the original framework-res.apk (i know dumbass right) and then she rebooted to infinate bootlooping (F#@K!!!) I can now get into recovery mode and unfortunatly I cannot get my update.zip that pushes busybox and su etc to sign properly so that I can copy via update.zip the backed up version of framework-res.apk back to the now read only /system/framework dir.... (possible Brick anyone?)
SECRET (hidden) RESET BUTTON;
So... continuing on... to reboot the phone if it locks up and stops responding, you need either the original simtray pin or something like a multimeter probe and stick it down the headphone jack, down there there is a hard reset button, (get a torch and look for yourself if you don't believe me) hope this helps people...
DRIVERS;
Also I downloaded the qualcomm MSM drivers from 4shared and can now connect to the phone cos I noticed that if you boot the phone using the down volume key (i think) with the USB connected you can get nothing come up onscreen on the phone but the PC picks up a new device, the 4shared drivers worked but unfortunately that's where my knowledge stops...
FLASH TOOL;
I downloaded the flash (or google translated "brush") tool from mobileuncle but untill I find someone sharing the rom, or system.img it is usless to me...
UPGRADING EXT. STORAGE;
Something interesting for the rest of you is that the Gooapple 3g ( shows as A4-3G) and the preproduction iOrange Gt-6 (also shows as A4-3G) seem to look the same on the inside, I have both ( but liked the good ol F#@K you Apple, with the apple eating an android boot animation and apple in a android symbol on the back of the device ) I have opened both of them up (use a very small screwdriver on the screws between the speakers and 30pin dock connector on the base, remove these screws and slide the back plate up towards the power button (gentle no to break the retaining nuts on the back plate), from here you can undo the bit of tape and lift the battery up out of the way ( its soldered in so be careful, seeing as its always powered and easyier to short something out ) then next to where the battery sits you will see the back of a micro SD card (this is you external storage) if you get your nail and press on the back of it you will notice it is held by a spring retainer and will pop out a bit, from here press it in half way again with your nail and slip your nail off it, releasing the spring tension, flicking the micro sd card out into the casing (and hopefully not across the room)
you should now find either a 4GB, 8GB, 16GB or possibly a 32GB micro SD card came out depending on the model you chose, if you chose a 4GB or 8GB like i did you can replace it with an inexpensive 16GB Micro SD card put it back together and reboot, This is how I have tried copying my "update.zip" with Busybox and Su files (see above, that wont sign!!! GRRRR) the recovery console recognises the file but says signature authentication fail....
I could sign my "update.zip" for my framework-res.apk file but without Busybox or system RW it is useless.. it passes authentication but without rw on system it is useless....
GPS SERVER CHANGE;
Also, using faster fix off the market (need root) you can change the GPS server for better GPS performance.
BATTERY INFO;
Stamped on the Battery is
PL402874 1000mAh
3.7V 3.7WH
SERIAL NO. LOCATION.
Under the back cover there is a Version (mine is v2.3) and Serial number sticker
QUICK ACCESS TO THE CAMERA
Double click Home on the unlock screen to have quick access to the Camera.

CREATING A EXTRACTED SYSTEM AS SYSTEM.IMG
for windows pc,
Go to http://db.tt/GAyvuDE (thanks Dastin1015) download and extract to your sdk/platform-tools folder
Rename mkfs.yaffs2.arm to mkfs.yaffs2 (delete the .arm extension)
open up command prompt (if you don't know how to do this in your current windows environment by now then just give up now)
change dir to the platform-tools dir in the sdk,
TYPE: adb push mkfs.yaffs2 /data/misc/mkfs.yaffs2
then pick up your shinny gooApple device;
open root explorer and navigate to mkfs.yaffs2 select and hold, change to have execute permissions
Back on the PC;
adb shell
su
# cd /data/misc
# ./mkfs.yaffs2 /system /sdcard/system.img
# exit
adb pull /sdcard/system.img ./system.img
I got a 176Mb system.img with "Build ok."
DUMP RECOVERY and BOOT IMAGES
you'll need dump_image from http://db.tt/9EANtEX (Thanks Dastin1015)
copy to your platform-tools folder in your androidsdk dir
do the same as above and push to /data/misc
then as before, change permissions of dump_image in root explorer to have execute. reboot device
Then you can run command prompt
go to your sdk platform-tools directory
run;
adb shell
cd data/misc
./dump_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
./dump_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
exit
adb pull /data/misc/boot.img ./boot.img
adb pull /data/misc/recovery.img ./recovery.img
ALTERNATE ROM DUMP METHOD (Thanks Dastin1015);
To do any flashing to the phone you must be rooted.
Rooting:
1) Download z4root and hit the permanent root option: http://db.tt/Bltsa73
2) Once rebooted you will have root.
Dump ROM:
~Prerequisite is that you have root~
{Non ADB method}
1) Download romdump and place it on the root of your SD card: http://db.tt/kXTaCDF
2) Download Terminal Emulator from the Market if you haven't already.
3) Open Terminal Emulator and issue these commands:
Code:
$ su
# cp /sdcard/romdump /system/bin
# chmod 747 /system/bin/romdump
# romdump
4) Now on your SD card under the romdump folder you will find you recovery.img, boot.img and system.tar. Backup these files to your computer for safe keeping.
{ADB method (Must have Android SDK installed)}
1) Open up command prompt and issue these commands:
Code:
C:\Users\Your_Name> cd ..
C:\Users> cd ..
2) Navigate to your installed Android SDK (Mine is under the Program Files (x86) folder):

Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools> adb push flash_image /system/bin
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools> adb shell chmod 747 /system/bin/flash_image
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools> adb shell
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
9) If you see a bunch of successful on your screen then it has flashed properly.
boot into recovery, hold home whilst powering on, after 5 long seconds, let go of home and then push home again, you will need to put the volume/menu-back toggle to "volume" mode and according to deepakpitrola333, you need to cycle the list 3 times using volume to allow selection.

CHEERS!!! - KEG.
Thanks for info on the gooapple, its good stuff.
Any idea on how to do any of the following:
- restore original recovery screen
- get a clockworkmod recovery image to work
- do a nandroid backup
i have managed to get the applestyle home apks and the keyboard and stuff and so want to install another rom. I flashed a random clockworkmod image but now i dont get any recovery screen at all, its gets stuck on apple every time on every button combo/method.
if its not too much to ask, could you check if you can run fpse the psx emulator on your gooapple, it crashes to home straight after loading a game even tho i have a bios. psx4droid works but is choppy, similarly specd phones like the wildfire s and legend can play fpse games like ff7 very well.
Gooapple GPS
Do you now how to acivate the GPS on the gooapple.
Have this phone a GPS chip like SiRF III chip?
Is it possible to use it with navigation software?
Did you purchase it? If you did that, please, send me link to rom dump after you dump it or you know already existing link?
Sent from my IDEOS S7 Slim using XDA App
this phone has a sirf III and installing a gps program makes the gps work.
i cant dump the rom without getting a clockworkmod recovery image that works for this phone, unless you know of a way jon2555.
Hey guys, the best way I found to toggle gps on (because it does not show up in networks) is by installing go launcher so you get a shortcut to it in your apps, the press home and set applestyle as default again, then go through your drawer and select the go launcher shortcut, from there add the power control widget, from there you can toggle gps...
Also I have been nagging the people at the gooapple factoryand they advised they may add a downloadable firmware upgrade soon...., fingers crossed as mine is currenly half bricked, I got access to the fastboot by downloading the microsoft mobile drivers update, that lets fastboot recognise it when you reset with the vol down button, but need to read up on how to use it....
I had a quick readup on fastboot commands, and I have written an update script (The one that I cant sign), and I'm going to try to run it with fastboot as my limited and unexperienced understandung is that through fastboot you dont need signed updates...., unfortunatly I left my goo at work on wednesday and I was in Sydney all day today, so i wont be able to try it out untill I return to work in freezing Canberra tomorrow... Fingers crossed, and if I can successfully get it working again I will try to find a way to dump the partitions and make an update.zip that rewrites all of /system (if possible), so next time i kill it, I may have a better chance recovering from my mistakes (or pure lazyness....)
jon2555, no rom yet, but Hat007 did previously do an app dump of all the apps on gooapple 3g here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245655
(thanks hat007)
and as deepakpitrola333 said, until somebody can put a working clockwork on it, we are out of luck regarding nandroid backups.... and my goo is currently bricked so i cant do much with it, and i gave my gt-6 to my daughter already, so no chance of getting that back......
Gooapple Firmware ROM Update
Hi All,
I'm New to this. Is there going to be a ROM or Firmware Update? if so how is it going to be done? Which Website??
I've bought mine from Android-Sale.
Has anyone else bought there's from Android Sale?
Also Is there a FIX to Make the Unlock Slider Back to English without the Stupid Chinese Symbol TXT??
Also Is anyone having Trouble with there Built-In GPS?? I cant get mine to Work??
I Look Forward to your Comments.
Cheers.....
hey spookie,
kegatron has said to toggle the gps from go launcher, which enables an android style interface with power options for bluetooth, gps, wifi etc by widget or otherwise. I assume you can do this with the stock froyo launcher too.
Home key can select the launcher after a third is installed.
I got mine from fastcardtech as they gave a discount over android sale, however it will be gooapple themselves releasing the update and or rom in the future.
With so many units sold, there is gonna be stuff up soon.
If someone knows how to make thier own clockworkmod recovery, the rom can be uploaded by anyone with the phone. I have no clue who to ask to do this tho.
The chinese in the lock screen is not something i know how to change but as i said a stock froyo launcher and lock screen can be used instead. Helps with the long icon name problem too.
If its not too much to ask can you check if fpse, the psx emulator, works on your phone. It crashes straight away on mine but all psx4droid versions work but as it is known, psx4droid is considerably slower, like 10-20 fps slower making final fantasy games run 50fps max and 35-40 normally which is too choppy.
I hope what i have said helps, gps isnt on all the time so try to toggle it like keg said and if you know anyone who can write custom recovery images, get them over here
i also assume you have rooted to get rid of all chinese from system icons/folders
Hey Spookie,
With the GPS, I was still using the applestyle launcher but one of the good things about go launcher is the fact that it has a app link in your app drawer, meaning you can select the applestyle launcher as the default and still have access to go launcher without too much hassle (just select it in the apps on your home screen)
So with that said I assume you have root?, if not... get it... Lols..
from there you can get rid of the standard Chinese crud that I cant read like baidu input or whatever its called, QQ (whatever that is...) etc. using Titanium backup (CAREFUL FOR WHAT YOU UNINSTALL, and batch backup everything first!!!), I'l put up a list of what can be uninstalled safely once I get mine working again. and you can fix the server your GPS is looking for by using FasterFix from teh market (you need root for this)
And the gooapple webpage is quite easy to find.... I just googled gooapple and funnily enough the webpage's name wasn't too cryptic (its www.googapple.com lol) just use the google chrome browser to automaticly translate the Chinese and for most of the bad translations you can still work it out..
Hope this helps...
BTW, I'm looking into rewriting my update.zip file for my framework-res.apk file as the scripting is different using fastboot and I need to read up on it.. give me time
I need to work out what needs to be in the android-info.txt and android-product.txt files....
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all you Help & input.. However I'm Very Confused and Lost?? Yes I've installed Z4Root.
But Now That I've installed this App. How can I BACKUP the Whole ROM as it is before I Start to Uninstall all thoses Chinese APPs etc??
Also What Input Keyboard do I install? Which one is the Chinese Keyboard??
I'm Wanting to keep the Stlye of the Phone as it is when I bought it but wanting to Take Out the Chinese Junk, and Install just want I want in English.
As for the GPS, is there a Way to Keep it always Switch on From First turning on the Phone??
I do hope you dont think I'm a Stupid Person??
I dont want to Brick or Destroy this Phone?? Just want the Chinese Junk Out and GPS & the Unlock Slider Fixed?? Do hope they Bring out Firmware or ROM Update? I'm picking it's going to be on here once it's Relesed??
Look Forward to your Comments.
Regards
Spookie...

Any Thought's Or Comments??
Thanks...
SpookieNZL
Hey Spookie,
Sorry champ, if I misdirected you, what I ment by batch backup all the apps first was to do with "Titanium Backup" from the market, it requires root access
to test for correct root access, you should get # when you type su in a terminal emulator.
try this once you have it installed,
Download the Iphone keyboard from the market, the go to settings, keyboard, and enable the iphone keyboard (tick box) then, find any text box and press and hold the box untill "input method" comes up select iphone keyboard
Once you have the iphone keyboard working, you can then delete the baidu (or whatever it was called) keyboard, by opening Titanium backup, accept super user access, then go to "backup / Restore" then press the menu key (vol up) then select "Batch" then select "backup all user apps +system data", then once completed, you can then go back to "backup /restore" and find Baidu input and select it, and then "uninstall"
Congrats you have now deleted the Baidu input,
I would recommend NOT uninstalling anything that you don't know if it is crucial or not, as if you delete the wrong thing you can get major "Force close" issues and make the phone 100% unusable until a ROM has been released to re-write the partition and start again...
With the Camera, I will post a heap of photos up when I get mine working again, I have taken lots of photos of pulling it apart and upgrading storage etc. I am in the progress of putting all the info from this post into a full guide with photos of step by step how to do everything that I know of, as I can't find anything from anyone else posted on the net regarding most of the things i have covered, I might just step up to the plate and do it
With Youtube, I installed the tubemate app from market, worked fine for me.., try it an let me know
Hope this helps!!!
Also, for those who didn't know, when you have the slide to unlock screen, if you double click home you will get a camera icon pop up (on an Iphone / ipod this is to access the music menu) that way you can get quick access to the camera to take a photo
hey keg why are you telling him to uninstall baidu input, on its last setting it is a perfect iphone input keyboard completely in english, the one on the app market is not good looking or accurate.
also, on youtube this guy, mayiandjay, has good videos on some of the stuff your trying to explain so maybe skip this to save time.
lastly i hope you get your phone back to working, as i have the phone working and sort know what im doin, feel free to ask for anything from it.
spookie, ill get some daylight pics up in the morning, at night the camera looks more grainy but is still good.
Hi deepakpitrola333,
Sorry I never really gave the Baidu input a real go, I found it slow unresponsive, and sometimes would revert back to converting whatever I was trying to write into Chinese, so it got the ass, I did get swype working on it, but I'm used to my Galaxy S and didn't find it that good on this device.
I suppose my guide to deleting the Baidu input was reversable if you did it step by step, you can go into titanium backup, go to backup / resore, and go right to the bottom, select baidu input that should have a line through it, and select restore.
BAM!!! Bauidu is back, though you will have to enable it again through the keyboard s option in settings, then press and hold a text box and select it again....
Sorry for the confusion.
yea it took me a while to set it to how i like, iphone style full english with predictive, wild guesses from the options list when holding down the circle key.
it is faster than the 4-5 keyboards ive used and looks the best in caps with no numbers to ruin the look.
it wont help you keg because yours is unfortunately bricked but spookie, on baidu after getting the keyboard up (press home a few times), hold the circle (world?) key, then select last, (keyboard will close) then hold bottom left key after getting it back up then first option, then second to last for predictive or last for non predictive.
Got the Goo Going again!!!
WOOOO!!! I'm soo happy
here's how I did it, (and I will add this to the first post)
When my device was bootlooping (the gooapple animation was playing over and over) I connected it to my computer, noticed that once again I got the unknown devices (4x qualcomm HSUSB interface) pop upagain and after giving up trying to find the Qualcomm HSUSB Driver prviously I decided to go on the hunt as this was close to my last resort before giving up for the day, well guess what!! I found it!!
I downloaded a file called PdaNetA302.exe and it installed the correct drivers for me!!! from there I could finally see the device in the Android Debug Bridge (especially whilst it was was booting!!) from there I could push the framework-res.apk into the /system/framework/ dir on the goo!!! WOO HOO!!
I'l play with it for a while and start ripping everything off it tonight, see what I can do about making a backup of some sort.... or if anything a listing of all dirs and files in each partition.
Thanks everyone who is reading this for your support during these "goo-less" times

Full root for A700 and A701 tablets

WARNING. THIS is ONLY for tablets running ICS. If you are running Jelly Bean, You May Brick your device!!
Again, this is for ICS ONLY!
Running this root on a Jelly Bean OS can cause your tablet to stop functioning as it is designed for ICS only. If you have a Jelly Bean Operating system, then please use Vorbeth's or Moscow Desire's Easy Root Package located in the Development Forum. If you do not know which OS you currently have, then you should ask questions before rooting.
Method 1. Universal for A700 and A701 Tablet
1. Enable adb mode: Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging - check it point.
2. Unlock your bootloader for fastboot, follow here. Then reboot a tablet.
3. Download arhive. Unpack it to any place.
4. Open the directory with the unpacked archive. Execute file:
for windows with the rights of administrator:
Code:
runit.bat
Your firmware is now rooted.
5. At first it is necessary to start the Superuser program, at least 1 time after receiving root. And only then programs that require root access.
ATTENTION!
Don't install Busybox! It is already installed and established! If you reinstall it, some programs will become unable to access root permissions!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method 2. With the patched kernel from the A700 tablet
For ICS A700 firmware only!
1. Enable adb mode: Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging - check it point.
2. Unlock your bootloader for fastboot, follow here. Then reboot a tablet.
3. Download this arhive. Unpack it to any place.
4. Open the directory with the unpacked archive. Execute file:
for windows with the rights of administrator:
Code:
flash-ICS-patchedBoot.bat
Your boot.img is now patched and firmware is now rooted.
5. At first it is necessary to start the Superuser program, at least 1 time after receiving root. And only then programs that require root access.
6. Now you will have to install the following programs:
BusyBox
Titanium Backup
7. Run BusyBox and go through the install steps. During this SU should ask permission to give BB root access, if it does, it worked!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method 3. From CWM recovery for A700 and A701 Tablet - Not available due to problems in the work of CWM recovery!
1. At the tablet must be installed CWM recovery.
2. Download arhive ICS_Rooting_recovery.zip. Put it on SD-card. Insert the SD-card in the tablet.
3. Run CWM recovery on the tablet and flash ICS_Rooting_recovery.zip.
Your firmware is now rooted.
4. Now you will have to install the following programs:
SuperUser
Titanium Backup
At first it is necessary to start the Superuser program, at least 1 time after receiving root. And only then programs that require root access.
ATTENTION!
Don't install Busybox! It is already installed and established! If you reinstall it, some programs will become unable to access root permissions!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method 1, in contrast to method 2, does not affect the core of the system. This makes it possible to receive future firmware update. But only if you do not forget to make backups before making changes to the system and restore it before upgrading.
PS: I tried to make a method 1 as safe as possible. But I have not had a chance to test it completely. So if it does not work, be sure to let me know in this thread and I modified it.
great work ! Thank you for this :good:
BTW the the script is called "flashpboot.bat" and not "flash-ICS-patchedBoot.bat" in the archive.
Really great thanks for it.
Just a question, can it be unrooted/undone by flashing 028-stock rom?

Rename Acer_AV043_A700_1.028.00_EMEA_FR to update.zip and put it in an external sd card.
There's a startup mode that installs it automatically, you have to press the left volume+power buttons at startup if I remember well.

you missunderstand, they mean, when you have 1.028 you cant flash the patched bootloader because they stuck onn boot screen
No problem to flash again Acer_AV043_A700_1.028.00_EMEA_FR or Acer_AV043_A700_1.025.00_EMEA_CUS1
The problem the patch doesn’t work with any of this two rom

The size of the patched bootloader seems wrong, I guess that's why it's faulty.
OK, so how do we fix this ??
Edit, reflashed with update.zip, so all OK, phew !
Cannot reproduce with Acer_AV043_A700_1.028.00_EMEA_FR !
Just stays at Acer logo with unlocked bootloader and forces me to re-install as update.zip which leaves me without root.
Which Firmware is working ?
Has anybody allready tested with which firmware this method is working and with which not ??
Be careful, same issue on NORMAL french firmware, not the crappy totally unknown one everybody seems to like, so i guess that's it : this patch STUCK YOUR TABLET ON ANY KNOWN FIRMWARE THIS FAR
Okay, so i just tried to push insert the superuser.apk into the Acer_AV043_A700_1.028.00_EMEA_FR file and flashing this, but as i was expecting, it didn't work out... it didn't even install.
edit: i can confirm, that it does neither work with the Acer_AV043_A700_1.028.00_EMEA_FR, nor the Acer_AV043_A700_1.025.00_EMEA_CUS1 !
so, i guess we have to wait for ZeroNull to come up with another way to get this to work.
Flashboot.bat not responding
I unlock my bootloader with Blackthund3r's A510 Bootloader Unlocker v1.0.0 and go the "unlocked" status. Rebooted the tablet, went into the patched-boot folder and ran as administrator "flashboot.bat". The screen displayed a bunch of what looks like gibberish and when I pressed the Enter key, the screen went to :
"Flashing patched boot.img
<waiting for device>
Then the process just sits there and doesn't go any further. Am I missing something in what I am doing?

Anybody got any ideas on what to do next?
Thanks!
You have to reboot into bootloader for the script to work.
But if you had read the comments above, you might have seen, that the described method does not yet work and several people state, that after flashing the Boot.img the device is stuck in boot.
Gesendet von meinem A700 mit Tapatalk 2
Just to be clear : This method specific to A700 does not work at all yet BUT this WORKS PERFECTLY with the A701 patched rom ZeroNull released at the same time
check this post for the a701 patched rom, you don't need to put it on sdcard it includes BAT files to flash it all from bootlader

[ROOT] $99 Walmart Nextbook 8 (NX008HD8G)

The Nextbook 8 (NX008HD8G) is a $99 tablet available from Walmart. It sports a AMLogic AML8726-MX SoC (1.5Ghz dualcore Cortex-A9 w/400mhz dualcore Malli400 GPU), 1 Gb of DDR3 RAM, 8" display, and 8Gb internal storage. Its a nice little budget tablet for those who don't need a Nexus 7 or greater performance rated tablet. Not too long ago I discovered how to root it and apparently I'm the first to do it as far as I can tell. Now here's how.
What you will need is Bin4ary's One Touch Root App. This app will get you only partial root via the ADB Shell. My guess is the ADB exploit he uses does work to get basic root access for ADB, but some incompatibility prevents proper installation of su & SuperUser.apk. What we're going to do is finish the job manually.
First run Bin4ary's app and use the Normal Method. Be sure to ignore all errors. After your tablet reboots move su and Superuser.apk from Bin4ry's app folder to the root of the Internal SDCard. Next you will need ADB. If you don't have it you can get it either from Bin4ary's app folder you found su & superuser.apk in or you can install the Android SDK. At the command prompt enter the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
At this point you should see a # sign indicating root privileges. If you do enter the following commands.
Code:
mv /system/xbin/su /system/xbin/osu
cp /sdcard/su /system/xbin
chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su
The use Astro or your favorite file manager to navigate to /sdcard and install SuperUser.apk then reboot your tablet. From here on you should have full root on your tablet. Credit should definitely goto Bin4ry for his work on his One Touch Root App for getting us half way there.
Confirmed Working
Confirmed. Works as described.
Nice work!
Thank you for this information, works excellent.

Parts are missing from the guide like how to install the adb drivers the computer needs to recognise the tablet first before u try and root it I have read through it and I've already bricked one also I noticed if you go to recovery on this tablet it erases the system and factory reset doesn't fix anything there's no factory ROMs or anything to fix it if it messes up. If someone can't a sure me that the method is correct I'll do it I'll try it.
Does this method work on the newer models say model number starting with YFG12 and up?
I bought this today.

Yes, I used it also. worked for me too (my serial for the tablet is YF07... in case there is a problem with the newer versions)
Thanks, H0wdy
Steps to do it:
Download Cydia Impactor
Turn on USB debug in settings-> Developer options
Plug in tablet into PC (I used a 32 bit Windows 8.1)
Wait a while... a long while for me... for windows to download drivers, disconnect tablet, wait a few seconds, then reconnect.
you should see in the device manager (on the top) android phone and underneath Android Composite ADB interface
Unzip Cydia, run impactor.exe and just choose start for # drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su
Wait a bit, then you're done. (no reboot or anything else necessary).
Install supersu (or I guess any other superuser app) from the android market. It will tell you that you can update the su binary... your choice, I updated without a problem.
I had supersu installed beforehand, but I guess it has nothing to do with it, it wasn't working anyway)
Ranting, but maybe someone has this issue also:
One ( -- BIG --) problem I had was getting the connection between the tablet and my computer, and Not because I can't plug-in a cable
the tablet said it was connected, but on the computer, nothing showed up in device manager and the list of devices kept refreshing.
The PC was beep-ing just like it found a device. the device list would refresh once or twice, then again beep, all this till the end of my patience.
At first I thought it was the USB 3.0 port, then the cable, then the ESXi USB redirection (my desktop is actually a VM), then the windows version, then the architecture,
Then I switched to a laptop, nothing.. same story.
I can BET it's Sony's F***ed up drivers
So, I used a clean system (no other adb or phone drivers installed) and worked as a charm
I think I hat this much trouble because I had a lot of other drivers (for sony, samsung, universal adb, etc etc.)
So on the computer I had all this stuff installed, it looked like the tablet was connected, then disconnected in the space of 10-15 seconds, then repeat forever.
If this happens to you, use a clean windows.
