I found in developer options where I can disable updates. But my phone already downloaded an update and is constantly prompting me to update. I downloaded cache wiper and wiped the cache partition and that didn't fix the problem.
Long press on the notification -> turn off notification, at least for the time you don't want it (this won't block any important other notifications)

Hey guys,
Im trying to update to ICS. I checked for the new firmware, it found it. So it started downloading it, then about half way through the download, it failed and said it was reverting back to its original state. So I restarted my device and I am trying to restart the update. When I go into settings and go to the check for updates tab, it says "there is a system firmware update for your device. Please check notifications"
Now when I open up notifications, nothing is there. Is there any way to restart the update? I cant seem to get it to retry.
Thanks, much appreciated.
Go to Settings - Applications - Manage - All - DMClient - Force Close then Clear Data
Next Settings - Applications - Manage - All - CMClient - Force Close then Clear Data
Reboot
Check for update.
Thank you so much!
I am running 4.4.4, and would like to stay that way, I got the notification today about the system update to Lollipop. I've been tapping "No thanks" whenever it pops up, but obviously I would like someway to disable it altogether so I don't need to keep tapping that.
Any suggestions?
Kitkat has far worst memory issues than Lollipop, so I don't know why you decide not to upgrade.
Anyway,
Go to Options -> Apps -> All -> Search for Motorola OTA -> Click Disable
Then you won't get any notifications for the update.

I went to Settings, Apps, All, and do not have an entry for Motorola OTA. The only Motorola apps listed are
Motorola Services Main
Motorola Service
Motorola One Time Init
Motorola Notificaton
Motorola ID
Motorola DriveActivator
Motorola Contextual Services
Motorola Checkin
Motorola Boot Services
Motorola Assist Framework
I tried downloading FOTAKill.zip and flashing that in TWRP, still got the update notification. I tried downloading DisableService in the app store and disabled SystemUpdateServices under Google Play Services, that didn't work. I just tried downloading FOTAKill.apk and copying it to /system/app, we'll see if that works.

Constant OTA downloads
I have XT1032 with 5.1 GPE optimized v1.1
For a month data usage eats up my whole plan. I suspect it's the OTA update it downloads over and over again, since it says 7.6MB, and Android OS reports such increases, sometimes multiple times a day.
Does the above link work for this version? Do I just install it within the GUI, or copy it somewhere from within recovery?
So my w200A NEVER used to automatically install system updates. I could flash any version and I would get a notification that there was an update but i just ignored these notifications. Flashed multiple times and never once did it install system updates automatically.
Well I accidentally hit the power button during a notification while leaning on a table the other day and it installed the system update.
I thought OK, no problem I'll just flash back again to a previous build.
Now when I flash back to any previous builds it automatically downloads and automatically installs system updates without any notification or authorization from me. I've flashed multiple builds to test ( 1.5, Korean 1.5, preview 2.0, Original ATT OTA 2.0) they all now automatically install system updates without my authorization. This happens with ANY data connection, wifi, bluetooth, mobile data.
So my questions is, what changed so that it is now automatically installing system updates without my authorization ?
PS ( my reason for not using latest OTA is standalone GPS issues)
Thanks
After a bunch of trial and error with my Urbane 2 the following single adb command stopped system updates and also stopped system update notifications.
My steps:
1. I flashed 1.5, let it bootup. Then I side loaded the Korean 2.0 OTA zip NXH20E. ( * after 2.0 fully installed I went into stock recovery and did a factory reset, probably not necessary, but I always do it anyhow)
2. Rooted and installed super user. ( I just booted custom recovery I didn't flash it - not sure if this made a difference but that's what I did) I used this SU > https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73572631&postcount=7
3. This is the ONLY adb disable command I did:
adb shell
su
pm disable com.google.android.gms/.chimera.GmsIntentOperationService
4. That's it, it stopped updating and also no system update notifications. Its been 4 days now. And most importantly to me, my standalone GPS is back to working properly.

Can you post up the file for AW 1.5?
I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'd love to go back. I tried the thread in the other forum, but the link is dead.
Thanks!

Hi everyone. I'm currently on Android 10 and unfortunately I inadvertently clicked the update from the notifications - I haven't clicked the prompt to "OK" which is saying my phone will be unrooted after updating, and I immediately force closed it and restarted my phone.
I understand Android 11 is still full of bugs and does not yet support TWRP so I don't want to update yet.
I also disabled automatic system updates via my developer options.
I also froze the following via Titanium: dynamic system updates 10, system update 2.1.3 and system updates 3.0.5.
1) Is it safe to freeze those three apps?
2) Have I done enough to prevent my phone from downloading the system update to Android 11?
Thank you
I downloaded a android system update in my samsung galaxy a12, paused it, then saw that I need to restart my phone for the google play system update. I did the google play system update first so I restart my phone. But now I'm worried that restarting my phone while having a paused download system update might cause me trouble, do I have anything to worry? After restarting for the google play system update I continued with the main system update. I thought having the option to pause downloading the system update it's okay to restart, because downloading and installing the main system update is kind of a seperate thing. I thought that the sensitive part which I'm not allowed to restart my phone now only happens when installing the main system update. But is it really like this or not?
