GravityBox is intended for AOSP ROMs. Some features might work in EMUI though.

There are many tweaking apps around that only read root or not at all. You can try them but GravityBox is a big no for non-AOSP ROMs.

Anyone knows when it's coming out on Nexus 5? I'm pretty eager to try halo and PIE on my new phone
Or can someone teach me how to port it and I'll do so happily!
Thank you!

Thanks for that! Using Purity Rom as of now. Wonderful work, but I feel like a part of me is missing as there's no halo and PIE in there xD

Use the Xposed Framework. There's a module that enables HALO, and if you install the Gravity Box module, you can use PIE too.
Definitely waiting for the official one.

Xposed Framework for Android Lollipop is Here!

http://www.xda-developers.com/xposed-framework-for-android-lollipop-is-here/
And now I really start considering the update :good:
EDIT:
IT DOES NOT WORK FOR US CURRENTLY!
It looks like it will take at least another version to work on Samsung ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/official-xposed-lollipop-t3030118
It makes bootlop on stock samsung Lollipop roms
I hope it works on our device.
Bootloop on sammy stock FW & also on deadoxed rom

Unfortunately not. I go to Xposed section everyday and hope for an update, but nothing as of yet, but I believe it will be there soon. I am sure rovo is working hard anyway.

Xposed itself does not. The modules can make a difference.
Have there been any developments on making Xposed compatible with Odexed Stock Lollipop ROM?

Can I remove EMUI on the Honor 8?

So I am looking to get a honor 8, but there is one thing that I am not so sure about, EMUI. So first of all, what are your thoughts on it, is it just a re skin of stock android or are there limitations/advantages. I am coming from IOS, and like the look of it, which i know emui is somewhat similar looking. Can I remove EMUI and go with a more stock version of android? If not what are some things I should do to get around the limitations of it? Also, can update to Nougat? Thanks!
There are more number of inbuilt features in EMUI than stock ROM. Some of the apps are inbuilt with the it. Stock ROM doesn't have every utility app that needs in day to day life like file manager, call recorder. We can download the app in play store in it. EMUI has these apps built with itself. So no need to download external app.
Limitations for EMUI is the RAM management. Im not sure about Honor 8, but RAM management is major issue in EMUI in all other models. It might be fixed soon with the upcoming updates also.
Regarding the update, you will get update till Android O for sure. But the time taken to get the update will be more than that of stock android devices. So don't worry about updates if you have the patience for it.
As of now you can't remove EMUI , as custom ROM is not available.

No other custom ROM available yet, the answer is NO for now...
But u can change Launcher if u dont like EMUI style.

Removal of the current EMUI will void the warranty. Please be aware of this and makes changes to your device at your own digression. (NS)
Alright thanks everyone for your reply, ill just probably customize the ui with different launcher and stuff and I should be fine with it.

It's really not bad. Add pixel launcher and theme by venom007 and you'll be good to go. I've been happy with it as an Android purist waiting for the pixel phone launch.

From what I am reading on this forum, it does not seem so.
There is a thread mentioning that many developers already tried and left their projects because of the difficulties.
One can always hope but am skeptical myself.

We will still get many modded custom Roms but as for custom Roms like CyanogenMod etc, it appears that it's a monumental task because of honor 8 being a Kirin device.
I don't understand the actual nuances, just stating what I usually read.

I forked the P9 lite repo for CM13.
The P9 development is still stuck on the telephony interface, but at least it's a start.

Thanks a lot... You should make a new thread in honor 8 Android development stating this so that more people can join in.
As for me, I am just the guy who knows how to troubleshoot installation and soft-brick problems (and even that at a rudimentary level)
