You can use many other overlays such as nav bar changer, emoji changer, font changer, etc...
Just avoid using SystemUI overlays, there are not made for TW

Sure, everything is explained in the links of post #1
@BigBen60 in the op you mention you can use navbar overlays, have you tested this?
I've been using Substratum for little over a day to theme all 3rd party apps. Wasn't sure if it was safe to use navbar's incase of bootloop. (I'm using S8+ not rooted running stock)

Brick the device?
Hello!
I read the post, and to be honest I'm new to using substranum, but I've been looking at it before, but I've never felt like rooting any of my devices (warranty and stuff), so I'm first giving it a shot now.
As I said before, I've read the post, so I'm asking because I could not see it elsewhere.
Can anyone tell me if this could brick my device? Since it does not have any root access?

If you theme system or systemui as of now you could potentially make them black. You would need to just simply reset the phone or uninstall the theme. It's impossible to brick the phone because you are not rooted.

How about off toggles? Shouldn't be a bit lighter? Only icons I mean.
Edit: I play a bit with shades and colors but I prefer previous one. So I am sharing it:

It's already included all previous toggle sets.

My first theme release in a while..this is for Nitros Eclipse BLUR ROM on the Moto X.
What is themed:
Contacts.apk
Dialer.apk(Made Darker)
DocumentsUI.apk (Inverted by me)
SystemUI.apk
Settings.apk
Calculator.apk
framework-res.apk
Keyguard.apk
LatinImeGoogle.apk
framework2.jar
I have themed just about everything in these apks with my own pngs as well as custom Eclipse branded icons. Some of these apks were based on Nitros inverted ones.
There are only a few things to note:
-The settings screen on DocumentsUI is not inverted.
-The settings screen in Contacts is not inverted.
-Due to some images residing in Active Notifications, a couple of the lockscreen icons (Google, A.N.screen lock) are not themed. I decided not to even try to change them because of (1) The fickle nature of that app and (2) because Moto frequently updates it.
-I did not theme Text messaging,Calendar or Email because (1) I don't use them (2) a lot of the framework images will theme them.
I probably will atempt them later as well as Gallery..once I figure out a Moto coding error.
-The small numbers on the keyboard may get themed once I figure out how to get apktool to play nice with the Google Keyboard. Once installing the theme, any of your keyboard settings will have to be re-done (Vibrate, etc.)
This theme works for me. Flash at your own risk.I am not to be held responsible for damaging your phone.
USAGE POLICY:**Feel free to use anything that I have made in this theme for any other project . All I ask is you please credit me in your OP
I have not tested this theme on SS or any other recovery besides TWRP..but seeing as my updater is basically the same one I have used since JB on the Bionic/RAZR with SS,I think it will.
Download from the link below to your SD
Reboot into Recovery
Install .zip from SD card

I have seen many users asking how to keep stock icons with custom theme from theme store or some users don't want to theme keyboard or messaging or settings etc.
So here made small tool with which you can remove different up to 16 parts of themes and can use those stuff from stock.
What you can prevent theming
Clock
Calendar
Contacts
Email
Gallery
Icons
Keyboard
Message
Memo
Music
MyFiles
Phone
Settings(Including framework part)
Wallpaper
Weather
UI
How to use :
Instruction already there in tool itself. Simply select application from box with scrolling and tap on it to remove theme part of that application. for example you select keyboard and tap on it, keyboard theme will be removed. you have to do same for all apps you require.
Keep in mind you need to reboot device after using tool and have to re apply theme.
Download & Installation :
Download and Install Partial Theme *.apk and install as regular app. Requires ROOTED device
Woah this looks amazing! Thanks a lot, will be trying right now!

Fantastic app mate, well done.:good::good::good:
i usually do i t manually or simply mod the single apk(to keep only few parts of the theme x app)
I would love an app to compine themes.. Eg to have settings from one theme, and dialer from another.
I read somewhere here how this can been done, but it is a real pain. If an app could been done for doing this easier it would be fantastic.
Thank you doc.

What about making an app that reads the json files of the user's currently installed themes, then allows the user to create a new theme (json) by picking components of the currently installed themes? Alternatively, you could let the user choose a theme as a base, then remove, replace, or add components.
Would this be possible?

It's not in this app, so you have to do it manually (untested):
1. Using a file explorer, go to data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson and find the theme you want to keep stock lock
2. Make a backup in a sub folder
3. Open file and hit the edit button!
4. Look for this line a little ways down:
"lock": "com.*.lock",
and delete it!
5. Save file and reboot!

The option of having the battery percentage seems to have been removed with MTC19T. One of these zips will put one to the left of your battery. The other will replace your battery with percentage only. Since most of you are not deodexed, one is a full systemui.apk replacement. If you have other mods done to your systemui, you will need to perform them again after flashing this.

It works with centered clocks too.
The font is not bold as the Clock, and is therefore somewhat awkward.
There is an exposed module (if you're using it) called Battery Percent that does just that but bold and consistent with the Clock font and size.

This is just what I want, but it would be nice knowing if it works on N

No, this is currently for MTC19T only though I could make it for other firmwares. I don't have a deodexed copy of Android N preview 3 so I have no way of doing it.

I took a look at Android N earlier (preview 2, I think). I got it deodexed but if I remember right, I had trouble getting it to except modifications. Bootlooped every time. If you had a copy of preview 3 or if I could get a copy without having to install it on my phone, I'd be happy to check in to it.
Edit: Tried again. The problem is I cannot get it deodexed.
Paranoid Android implement the same battery percentage solution as here.
Hopefully their return will help make this a new standard instead of CM's tiny annoying font.
Rock on

I would need a deodexed copy of the systemui.apk due to smali files that need to be added.
How to flash?
Can I flash this directly on stock rom without root or bootloader unlock? or need to intall custom recovery?

I haven't been able to find where the system handles the notification animation settings yet. Currently it only starts showing the image from the center and stretches it out to reach the top and bottom.
If anybody has any ideas what part of the OS handles that, much appreciated.
I downloaded the apk and when I try to run it, I get a "Can't open file" error. I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong because I have active substratum themes.
T-Mobile variant converted to 9.5.7.GM21AA with root, Magisk, substratum.
Thanks in advance.

It is probably getting blocked by Play Protect. Try going into the play store to see if it is listed there and allow the application to install.

I checked and it "looks good."
I figured it out though. My issue was that I clicked too fast and downloaded the apk twice. I was trying to run the apk from my Downloads instead of the XDA folder, giving me an error for some reason.
Everything works just fine now.
Thanks.

Awesome, glad you got it worked out man
This is absolutely amazing, it never came to mind that the horizon light would be customizable like this.

It would be great if edge lighting being persistent, because now flashes just for one cycle the disappears.
Normal people don't stare at their phones all day hoping to catch a glimpse of a notification.
The edge lighting is pretty useless as it is stock.
Hope someone can help and figure out how to get to working being persistent.
Thanks for the effort I'm definitely going to try it as long received my device.

Okay this is the coolest thing! Just installed it and it looks great! I use the dark theme with red accents on my 7 Pro, so the red edge lighting is perfect! Thanks!

Nope , the 6T doesn't have the edge light built-in to the systemUI
Does anyone know if it's necessary to have animations for this to work?
How to install and apply this? I am new and do not know about Substratum tabs or anything. Please Help.

Install Substratum, install Edge overlay, then from OP:
How to apply overlays:
1. Select the desired edge light
2. Build and install
3. Reboot
4. Substratum > Manager Tab
5. Select the overlay and enable it.

Renovate Ice 3.0 can now loop the Horizon light animation. You may want to contact the devs.
