Does anyone know/own a magnetic USB type C charger for the s8+ that feature quick charge.
I want to know how well they hold up before getting one.
Dont hold your breath. If they are anything like the ones for the s7 edge they were crap and very cheap made. Easily disconnects from the cable. Didnt always fast charge. Need to ensure it attaches right if not it may not charge at all or charge at normal speed. Would not buy another ever again.

Can't vouch if any of them ACTUALLY fast charge. A customer does claim out works on an S8 though.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I've reviewed numerous ones on Amazon and most of them are mixed. I'll keep on digging.
I'll post a link If I find something decent that gets the job done.
Please keep us updated!
Will do. I know the phone is still pretty new. So I'll give developers of the mag chargers for the s8 a little more time.
I'd like to find one so that I could just leave it connected and not have to worry about breaking my charging port..

Hi,
So, I'm one of the 'few' users which the USB connector on my nexus became loose to the point where doesn't charge anymore. One of the connectors inside broke (shorter then the others), I tried to fix another connector (successfully) but I can't do much about the broken one.
With this I'm left with 3 alternatives.
Send to RMA, logical, but would take at least two months since I'd have to send it to UK (was bought there) and I don't wanna be that long without it.
Order a USB connector and mount it myself. I'm actually considering this... But moving on...
Order a wireless charger, this seems the most fast option to get it charging. Now choosing this option leaves me with some questions. Considering that the official wireless charger is way more expensive than those QI ones, I checked the specifications and seems like the mA/output between QI chargers and official wireless is the same, so, do they take the same amount of time charging? Will I have any issues with another brand (considering it should work on nexus) ? Any big pratical differences between official / other brands if the technical specifications are the same?
Someone care to shed a light on this matter?
Thank you so much in advance

I use a choetech qi charger. It works perfectly. Charging time is a little longer, but it works awesome

Since charge faster than others. Some get hot, ie the tylt. I use the Nokia dt900 chargers. They are cheap, charge fast, don't get hot, and just work great.
Well if the USB connecter doesn't work you really should get it replaced, not just work around it by getting a Qi Wireless Charger.
How will you ever use fastboot and adb?
Anyways, it doesn't matter what charger you get and the price tag attached to it, as long as they adhere to the standards they should all charge at the same speed and should last the same amount of time. Better to get a cheaper one and save a few bucks.
Check out the RAVPower wireless chargers. Have one of the round-shaped models, works perfectly with Nexus 5.
Anyone have any recommendations. That DON'T heat the watch up.
Somewhere on one of the android forums i found some links and ordered one. Just got it today. My stock charger is plugged in to the pc. Which we all know is small on amp charging. I tested the new unit out. from 90% to fully charged. And the back of watch was HOT. Too hot for my taste. I'm a long haul trucker so it will be my spare for the truck to take on the road. IT will be plugged in to either a 1 or a 2 amp charger. BUT, if the plugged into the pc made it that hot. I don't even wanna see how hot it will get by using a stronger charger and charging the watch from dead to fully charged.
So, for any of you that are using spare chargers. What's the recommendation?
If i remember right, some of the posts on that other forum mentioned the watch would get hot. But that's a little TOO hot for my taste for a 10% charge off the pc.
Hey snowwy66!
I bought an additional charger for my work desk and used several times already with good results (watch don't heat up very much, and charging process is nearly as fast as with the genuine stand). I just want to mention, the watch is charged by my computers USB port, so the charging current is 500mA (while the genuine charger provides 700mA to the stand).
I bought it in Amazon, just look here.
And as an annotation, a quick search would help you too, cause there is already a thread concerning this topic.
Best regards
i couldn't find the thread. Thus, i said thread SOMEwhere.
The one i bought, looks just like yours. Bought from amazon. Came from China.
I did find this sight though, looks like a stock samsung. http://www.mobilefun.com/50040/samsung/gear-s2-smartwatch/chargers.htm

Seems legit, but a little more expensive than the replica. My watch is charging right now and stays cool like the weather outside ^^.
guess it's not the same as yours. The one i got has a little tiny led at the bottom and didn't turn green when charge, instead it turned off.
thanks silber.

Looks like a counterfeit. I strongly recommend to NOT charge your watch with that charger.
Disclaimer : I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.
I've owned several android devices over the years and I've never used a wireless charger. Now that I have this one, I can't believe I waited this long. It works fantastic and supports quick charging as well.
First off, it's extremely thin and slender with a small footprint. It's just a small square pad with rounded corners, no bigger than a drink coaster. The top has small rubber pads to hold your device steady and the underside has small rubber feet to keep it from sliding around. There is a small led light that remains faint and doesn't over power a room. It has a USB C connection port and comes with a USB C to USB A cable. No charging brick is included.
I plugged it into a standard charger and it began charging my Note 7 immediately. I then plugged it into my Samsung quick charger plug and it instantly began wireless quick charging. I'm very impressed thus far. It's a very quality device and included a nice quality USB C cable as well.
It would be nice if it came with a quick charger plug. But there's no way it would be at this price point. Overall it seems to be a solid quality Qi pad, at a great price point.

Yeah I saw that. But I haven't seen anything regarding wireless charging. I guess that's what happens when I go back to Samsung after like a 4 year break.
Yeah looks like a huge kerfuffle over the explode-gate. Reports are coming out of the woodwork.
It's not to say that your wireless charger (and thanks for your input on it btw) isn't good and you may not have any issues with it at all, but I (personally) get a bit paranoid when I plop down that much $$ and this stuff starts happening.

Totally feel ya bro. I don't mind if they recall them. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Just sucks for people who don't have a backup phone for the interim.
Hey guys, Rydah805 here with a nice little review on something cool that was sent to me from Chotech; A USB Type-C wireless charging kit. Basically, what it does is awesome by simply adding wireless charging capabilities to devices (such as my Google Pixel XL) that do not support it out of the box. You will obviously need a wireless charging pad for this to have any function. I personally own two, a Samsung branded wireless fast charger and Choetech’s very own wireless fast charger. For this review, I tested using both in which results were the same. Before we begin, I'd like to make it clear that I am in no way associated with Choetech.
How it works is even simpler too. You plug the wireless charging receiver into your USB Type-C charging port, stick the actual wireless charging receiver to the back of your device (sticking not necessary is using a case but do note that it will leave an ever so slight bump with a case.) After plugging it in and having the wireless charging receiver mounted to the back, you're pretty much set. Now when you want to charge your device, you may just dock it onto your wireless charger.
As for wireless charging speed, I wasn’t able to get it to charge “rapidly” as my Google stock charger states, but charging time wasn’t too far off and isn’t noticeable if charging overnight or if just sitting on your desk at work, like me in both of those scenarios.
When it comes to quality of looks and materials, it meets my expectations but then again, what could you really expect? And if you're curious about the specs on this little guy, it is using qi wireless charging technologies with an output of 5v/1a. This is obviously lower than the stock wired charging rates and of course speed but again, if you’re like me, always at your desk or at home, this isn’t too big of a deal. YMMV.
Now for my personal look and opinion on it. I think it’s cool and coming from a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and even more recently, the best worst phone ever, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (R.I.P.), wireless charging was definitely missed when switching to the LG V20 and now again with the Google Pixel XL. I definitely like having this as an option and thank Choetech for giving me one to review. Personally, I do not use it quite often as I am a freak about having my phone as thin as possible (thin case fans, where you at!?) but if I weren’t into thin cases, this would stay on my device all the time.
To sum this baby up, it’s great. It gets the job done and does what it came to do, add wireless charging to your incapable device. LOL
8/10 (Wish wireless charging speeds were better but it isn’t a killer for me.)
Link to purchase coming soon.
Looks cool. I really miss having wireless charging since I just plop my phone down on my desk or when it's bed time and I don't have to worry about the port wearing out. This is my first USB C device, so I'm curious to see how well it holds up.
Does your wireless charging pad have much heat when it's charging, both in a case, or if you had direct contact between the receiver and charging pad?

Nope, actually stays about the same temperature wise which is nice. ðŸ˜

That sounds pretty cool. The reviews I have read on other ones was that the charge speed was much slower. Don't need rapid charge but standard speed would be more than good enough for me. A few reviews I read said that putting one on a wireless charge dead at night it wouldn't even be fully charged over night. I will probably buy one of these as soon as the link goes up Couldn't find it yet on Amazon.

anyone know if they're legit? can't really find any reviews on them. curious if anyone has used this product before.
Haven't used this specific product, but have used similarly one's before and was fairly satisfied. The only think to watch out for is the connection. Sometimes it can be difficult to align it properly on first try. Price looks about right. Honestly I am waiting for one that goes from usb-c to the magnetic part, instead of the usb-a.
From all the magnetic charging cables have seen, this is the only that burst my bubbles and lots of my questions were answered. Thanks to this YouTube video that I found. Search for it on youtube
Is the website down? Can't access it.
The website is up and running now..
They also have a Facebook group called Volta Insider, search for it on Facebook and you can join the group before you make a purchase to verify things for yourself.
Check Amazon for magnetic USB C cables and such. I still have one for my 6p on my list, but haven´t pulled the trigger as I figured plugging the cable in is not too inconvenient. But on my Sony Smartwatch, I really had to fiddle to get the USB plug into the watch (with the watch band being in the way). So I got a magnetic cable for that and even if it´s not perfect, it´s way better than having to plug in every 2 days.
But does it do " Rapid Charge " though ? I'm spoiled by the nexus 6p rapid charge feature that I cannot go back to regular charging.
Edited: If any has one to test and it does rapid charge let me know. I would definitely buy it.
Edited #2 : I just read their FAQ , so they say it won't alter the charging behavior so it should support the fast charge. I might have to get one and test it out. IF it don't work out, i can just return it.
